Sorry I didn't understand. Ok so only VEATs can see Stalkers at 100 feet or so (afaik) bt won't a regen w/ tactics and +pre proc be able to see VEATs, or only a wp with their inherent perception+tactics+per proc can do that?
Conflict, why is MoG useless againts Forts?
And if you could answer me... S. Shark Jaws I almost never see in PVP Stalker builds, but Mids and CoD says it does decent damage as a ranged attack in PvP (not as much as Spirit Shark, but maybe another ranged attack would be nice on a Stalker). -
That worries me. I'm still a lowbie but sometimes I had to run from white minions. All the talk about MoG and Shadow Meld, which are high level powers (and Thundestrike which I was already concerned with the animation) makes me think I'll be damn squishier than my /Nin and /EA till I IO her out for defense or at least get to Shadow Meld level.

My planned build has no defense but maybe you can get something out of it - I went for recharge, I put the purp pet set in Tornado but it's not really needed. Also I think it's a waste to slot Ice Storm for slow, it does great damage especially with scourge - I'd also slot power sink with 2 endmod/recharges in your build:

Traps can also be good, but only after SOs when you have good recharge times on the key traps powers. Dark and Rad would be better from the start because of what Silas said.

You forgot the build, but if you're not playing as an AoE beast and hitting everyone there's no point in playing spines. I don't think anybody plans a Spines build differently.

Psy/MM could work well. Psy is good on ST and not so hot on AoE, MM's cone (P. Scream) can help the lack of Psy blast's Aoe but you'll still cry when fighting robots and other psi-resistant stuff. Other than that, I think the sets compliment each other very well, I personally think MM is the best match for Psy Blast.
But two of the best powers in /MM (Drain Psyche and PSW) requires you to go into melee, so not so hot for a ranged blaster. And those two powers are part of what makes MM so good, especially DP. DP is so freakin' good that I went from 1-50 with my Ice/Psi dom without stamina running an expensive toggle all the time (Arctic Air) and attacking all the time.
And DP let me go in the middle of large mobs, cap my recovery and regen (I slotted for heal, rech and acc - and when IOing I went for 1 acc+5 doctored wounds, all buit the heal/end, cheap set and gives you 5% global recharge) and spam PSW when it had a short recharge time back before the dom /psi changes. On a Psy/MM Blaster I suppose a good strategy would be to run in, use DP, PSW and then jump out (hurdle+CJ FTW) then spam your ranged attacks.
Drain Psyche makes you ridiculously survivable. If you slot it for heals and hits 4 targets, you regen more than Instant Healing from /Regen. Hitting 4 with it unslotted for endmod gives you 300% recovery, one target already gives you 75%. Getting Speed Boosted slotted with one endmod (which is the usual among most Kinetics players) gives you 71% recovery, and I guess you know 71% (even the 50% from SB unslotted in the pre-SO levels) is very significant already since you must have been speed boosted a lot. That's why I prefer slotting DP for healing, it really improves your survivability, and the recovery is more than enough, especially if you get Stamina (I got it on my ice/psi dom after a respec at 50 because of PvP, but I didn't need it for PvE - but I think I'd get Stamina on a MM Blaster) -
I'm fine with that as long as the tier 9 makes you turn into a 50 feet T-Rex.

The point is... If you're on some sort of bandwagon, be it in this game or 'real life', who cares? Your 14-year old friends you want to impress, provided you have any (and more unlikely, want to impress teenagers with your 'non-conformist attitudes')? Hell I'm past 30 and I do have some 16-20 year old friends IRL who wouldn't care if I jumped into some 'bandwagon' or not. -
Oh dude I just started an Elec/Regen for another try at PvP in the future because I read here that Regen Stalkers are more survivable than /WPs when IO'ed properly.
Are you saying I'd be better off with a Elec/WP with tactics? Is it much better than an Elec/Regen with Tactics and the +per IO? I understand nothing about perception caps.
Will this be the difference between seeing another Stalker from 10 to 100 feet?
EDIT: Btw is Spirit Shark Jaws a good attack? Mids says it does decent damage in PvP, but the build I've seen here usually only have the first shark attack. -

What was the point then? Trying to gain reputation with the 'cool kids'? Did it make a difference in your life to read/watch Harry Potter later? Do you feel cooler or non conformist because of that? I mean, who cares?
Your post reminded me of when I was 15 and was a bit wary of buying Offspring CDs when they were playing everywhere (TV, radio) because of what my 'heavy metal' friends would think. I bought them anyway, and I liked it. Then again, this CD episode is typical teen behavior, I had classes about that in College.
Yes I do think it makes you weird, especially the cell phone thing (I know people with no cell phones, but not because of your 'weird' reasons, they just don't like cells), because your attitude may lead you to make decisions that may be prejudicial in your life. No offense intended, honest. This is just my opinion, I'm not judging you. It's just that I know some people (older than me, like 35-40) who take this 'non-conformist' thing so seriously they got screwed in situations just because of that, the high need for self-worth validation and the 'against the conventional rules' thing made them suffer in situations they didn't really have to, and it was for nothing, I'm not talking about cases where one would have to change completely to avoid personal/social/work/academic troubles. Just situations that if they had lost the attitude for just a little bit of time they'd have done fine. But I may be psychobabbling here, maybe you aren't like that in other aspects of your personality.
As for CoX toons, I just play whetever seems fun at the time, I don't care if there are 5000 or 5 other people playing the same powerset. I was one of the only high-level DM/DA scrappers on Freedom in i9-i10 (only saw another one at 50 on my way to level her up, took a while but she got to 50 later). My first toon to 50 was a Mind/Emp which I never saw another except in low levels (like 1-10) where you see every kind of combo and people give up later.
And I didn't feel any more 'special' with those two toons than when I leveled my Fire/Kin a bit later. He's even named 'Yet Another Fire Kin', and I loved leveling him to 50. Never felt like a 'sheep' or 'clone' just because I was playing a toon that half the players have at 50. -
Here. Far from awesome, lacks recharge, both global and in the attacks, and +maxhp. And lol @ the slotting for healing flames, plus no fiery embrace - I'd say you sacrificed too much for the s/l/melee defs:

this build is all over the place. you didn't slot for rech, HP, or defense. you six slotted health, you underslotted PSW, you took ES, all of which you shouldn't do.
this might be the worst build i've seen that uses 6 purple sets and a glad and shield proc.
And a Fire/Kin build on the troller forums with crucial powers skipped (like Flashfire) and others severely underslotted, iirc it would cost about 8 billion. -
Nice build. IH isn't underslotted in my build, because the regen part that's enhanceable is small and IH's base regen is so high. I had five 5% global rech bonuses so there was no reason to put a doctored wounds set there.
And I went with the scrapper experts advice on building for positional defenses and enhancing only the heal aspect of Integration since it provides the most benefit in regeneration. I'd put another Health IO in Health or FH if I had the slots but it doesn't seem as important as having good defenses.
Hmmm swapped B. Lightning for Shadow Meld and changed some slotting around, 32% melee def / 24.5% ranged looks good- and I think I'll need Shadow Meld, this is my first non-defense based Stalker, I had to run from some white minions at level 8 or so

I focused on melee and s/l. This way I'd be safe for melee of all kinds and the s/l would stop a lot of ranged attacks. Ended up with 35% melee / 30% sl / 20% ranged / 19% nrg-neg.

Maybe you already have five 2.5% range bonuses from Tstrikes or other sets? Click on 'Active Sets' and you'll see if you're capped on something, the tstrike set numbers are working fine here.

Sorry, I only have a 50 elm/stone Brute so I can't give a good answer. But i think that with BU+LR+SC you can kill even cons. Even higher cons I think, since you can spam Fireblast and Thundestrike, and if you don't wanna wait for SC+LR for the next group you can just use T. Strike and Fireball.
I know my ELM/Stoner did pretty well with BU+LR+Thundestrike and Gloom to finish off mobs quickly in ITFs and farms (then I'd use C. Brawl, C. Induction and Gloom on bosses - no option to turn bosses off at the time on farms), he's only partially Io'ed because I got sick of him but I always had someone speedboosting me.
An elec/shield scrap has more Aoe (SC, Fireball... My Brute didn't have room for Dark Obliteration) and higher damage with the telenukes, not to mention Fire Blast and Fireball do better damage than most ST/AoE blasts for Brutes (except gloom, but it recharges slower than fire blast).
I think for farming-only you can leave AoE as it is... This build I posted is not exactly good for other content because I wanted to keep it affordable while having near permahasten recharge. -
Ryuuk I decided to level a fm/sd but I had a planned elec/sd farmer. Not very suitable for sub-level 45 play, but 95% rech (3 secs off permahasten) with no pups/pvps and 2 panic buttons (L. Clap and Owts). It's not aoe capped but I think it could be a good farmer and relatively inexpensive.

Why? A Brute or scrapper with SS+ stealth IO can do this even faster sice they have more AoEs or damage auras to take care of minions surrounding the bosses. And they would stealth to glowies at the same speed as a Stalker, faster if the Stalker doesn't have SS.

7) Although I don't like K.combat, I do like the suggestion of putting the -res proc in Slash. Doing that, however, will almost certainly mean that I need to put K.Combat in one of the other powers that currently has Smashing Haymaker in it. Question about the proc: does it have 2 chances to fire (since Slash hits twice)? Or is Slash just a once-applied DoT that looks like a two-strike attack?
8) If I don't PvP, AFAIK perception is only going to help me vs. Night Widows. Is that right?
4) You only regen 10.6 hp/sec in this latest build. Stalkers already have low hp, I prefer building for the HP cap (w/ accolades), and regen starts to be noticeable around 25 hp/sec, which would require you to say, 5 or 6-slot Health with Numinas plus regen tissue unique and other regen bonuses in other powers like LotGs, Sciroccos and etc. I find 10.6 hp/sec to low, 20 is acceptable, below this I wouldn't bother with Health.
7) Slash is one attack, so each time you use it the proc will have a chance to fire once. If a power like Shadow Maul/Sands of Mu (which animate as multiple punches) accepted the -res proc or any other proc it would still only count one chance to activate (considering it hits one target since Shadow Maul is a cone). So, always one chance unless it's an AoE. If you use Shockwave with a Explosive Strike or Positron proc, it has a chance to fire on each target hit.
8) Build Up is a 80% damage bonus, so I always want it recharging asap, that's why I suggested 4-slotting it w/ 2 R. Reticles (for the 1.88% s/l def) and 2 recharges. The Tohit bonus won't be affected significantly if you change the RR tohit for a RR +perception (since RR only goes till level 20 the tohit enhancement offers low values), and there are a number of NPCs that can annoy you with no +per, but yeah espeacially in missions full of arachnos. Up to you of course, but I find nice to have perception and better than the low value of the RR tohit enhancement. -
Well I have a planned build, I tried to make it kinda cheap. My goals were melee defense and recharge, this was made a long time ago, maybe I'd go after some hit points and more recharge too, but here's what I have now. I don't think it's an awesome build, but well.. A friend used this build to farm and he did it well. I haven't leveled her past 35 and left the game for 1.5 year so I didn't IO her out, but that was my plan:

Terrible build I'm afraid. No Tough, no Build Up (you took barb swipe instead, seriously don't), Healing Flames at level 41 WAY underslotted (take it at level 4, slot for recharge and heal), Blazing Aura is terribly slotted (bad acc, bad dmg, no endred), Spine Burst has no end reduction and Quills has little, these last three alone will eat your blue bar. Most enhancements that give recharge bonuses on the 5th slot are 4-slotted so you don't get the rech bonus.
Not to mention this build only has 20% global recharge and will cost 15 billion because you used purps and PVP IOs everywhere. A well built So'ed build can perform better than this one. Or a 10 million cheaply IO'ed one, because your build has no defined goal, the set bonuses are all over the place.
Sorry for being blunt but this build is really horrible and unnecessarily expensive. -
EDIT: Build now has S. Meld because even before L. Rod I decided I have enough AoE and I'll need the defenses. Defs now are 32%/24% melee/ranged with hide suppressed. I think the recharge is okay, not perfect but decent
I'm still 'learning' regen, never played a /reg toon, just started an Elec/Regen and I don't like ELM for scraps/brutes because of the stupid low ST damage (I have a 50 elm brute), which is alleviated on a Stalker due to AS and LRod not unhiding you allowing you to crit with AS or TS. The 'weird' Dull Pain slotting is because it will cap my hp anyway.
So here they go, are these good enough? Right now I'm level 12 and sometimes I have to run away from minions because everything hits me and Recon/DP still take forever to recharge:
- Defs 28.3% melee / 25.8% ranged / aoe sucks at 13.3% (with Hide suppressed of course)
- Regen 33.5 hp/sec (605%) / recov 2.66/s before accos
I'm not too happy with the recharge, if I could get any help I'd be immensely grateful. The red market is so screwed up I can't say I'll be able to afford purples so this build has none (I may go for Shadow Meld which would have the same slotting as MoG if I'm happy without Ball Lighting but I want an AoE build for now):

Hey, numbered questions please, too much stuff for my brain!
1) Yup, I always slot Hide, usually with 2 LoTGs or 2 def IOs/SOs when leveling for the 2.65% def (2.98% iirc with it 3-slotted)
2) Never took the snipes because they are hideous with the activation power but City of Data says they do crit from Hide. I know the normal PP blasts do.
3) My DM/EA has no Stamina either, works fine. Claw's even better with the inherent reduced end usage.
4) Overload is just like Elude / Kuji in Retsu, difference is it cap your hit points (which you can have with accolades anyway) and does not provide psionic defense. Good for the recovery in prolonged fights, maybe you should test it. I used my tier 9 when soloing the ITF computer because there was a teamwipe (except for me). I wouldn't have the endurance to destroy it without Overload, but well it's situational when softcapped.
As for the build:
If you can afford it, trade the lotgs def/rech in Hide and CJ for the LotG uniques.
Slash is SO GOOD with 5 crushing Impacts + an achiles heel -res proc, you can do that if you can afford another set of Kin Combats and put it in Strike or AS.
I don't like your BU slotting, I'd use the 2 rectified Reticles there and add 2 recharge IOs. And instead of the RReticle Tohit I'd put a RR Increased perception. You can get those two slots from Health which is doing almost nothing for you. I'd only get Health in /EA to put recovery uniques like Miracle and Numina.
You don't need Conserve Power but if you want it, I find it more important to 3-slot Hasten than 3-slotting CP, your Hasten is one-slotted.
I like Placate two-slotted with rech IOs, but ymmv.
IMPORTANT THING: Get Energy Protection and slot a Steadfast Unique there, it's an easy 3% defense, you'll cap energy and get negative to better levels, I always try to cap negative too but it's not easy, I don't care much about fire/cold def.
I'd slot web coccon with 4 basilisks gaze for the 2.5% nrg/neg def and the 7.5% global recharge. Mace Blast could use another slot for the 6.25% global recharge in Decimation
About Mace: the redraw may annoy you (I don't like redraw) but any epics involve redraw since you're Claws, I'd advise you to make a lvl 1 AR/TA Corr to see how you feel about it (two 'weapons') but you're only 1 level away from getting the Mace. You can respec out of it later anyway.
Summon Spiderlings are the best aggro soaking pets for Stalkers, perhaps the only ones that are a bit useful in the PPPs, but I'd slot them for acc, dmg and recharge using a recharge intensive pet set. And these sets give you 6.25% global rech with 4 slots, although you'll need another slot to cap their recharge.
Oh the second BoTZ will only give you like 0.6% nrg def after the incoming nerf.
Well I put some expensive stuff that can be replaced (Extra KCombat set, Lotg uniques which you can replace for the def/rech one and a purple pet IO, only one) but I'd try for something like that (just ideas, not saying my build is the 'bestest' - I'd try to move energy protection earlier to get the steadfast asap, you could also replace health with it, I took CP out b/c I put an unique in health):
