this build is all over the place. you didn't slot for rech, HP, or defense. you six slotted health, you underslotted PSW, you took ES, all of which you shouldn't do.

this might be the worst build i've seen that uses 6 purple sets and a glad and shield proc.

my suggestion, find a bonus that you want, probably rech or defense, and slot for it. honestly, it looks like you saw this stuff is expensive and slotted it without having a focus on where your build wants to go.

here's my build.

this build is all over the place. you didn't slot for rech, HP, or defense. you six slotted health, you underslotted PSW, you took ES, all of which you shouldn't do.

this might be the worst build i've seen that uses 6 purple sets and a glad and shield proc.
Oh at least he's improving, trust me. He posted a 15 billion Spines/Fire build in the scrapper forums with 20% global rech and no other significant bonuses, healing flames at 41 w/almost no recharge and lots of underslotted powers, like he did with PSW now.

And a Fire/Kin build on the troller forums with crucial powers skipped (like Flashfire) and others severely underslotted, iirc it would cost about 8 billion.

my suggestion, find a bonus that you want, probably rech or defense, and slot for it. honestly, it looks like you saw this stuff is expensive and slotted it without having a focus on where your build wants to go.
Yeah, looking at your build I see you have softcap defenses to S/L.

However, I have no idea why you would skip ES. Which has better DPA than DW.

And why not put the placate proc into Flash Freeze? For solo play, the sleep would be useful and for team play, placate while not reliable, at least would have uses.

placate proc is useless in pve. besides me having no need for flash freeze anyway.

ES's DPA is barely higher than DW which is easily made up for by the higher range, lower end cost, and .9 sec lower activation time.

that aside, looking at all the other posts, ima stop feeding the troll now.

Hrm. Opinions. How do I put this...

The build you've posted is just absolutely one of the worst ways you could build a DP/MM, even if you put high value on concept (like me).

Psychic Shockwave, Drain Psyche, and Hail of Bullets are your most important powers, and you've managed to make them almost useless with the way you've slotted them, short of Hail of Bullets.

Your build is also ridiculously expensive, especially when considering how under-performing it would be.

Looking at others' posts, I think I should stop taking this thread seriously.

Hmmm...I can see what you're saying, I think I just don't care for the waiting on my single target attacks to recharge, and don't want to keep using the AOE attacks for a single target, not to mention I love the ES animation. All that makes me keep it in.

As for the placate proc, I have it, havent slotted it into a power yet, so I haven't seen it in action in a PvE setting. Since it wouldn't hit all the time, I don't figure it will be all that great, but I was thinking it may have some use if I did use Flash Freeze.

Yah. PC_guy's build, while powerful, really didn't look "fun" by my standards. It was just a purely maximized build. Personally, I took all Dual Pistols attacks just cause they're freakin' fun! And Suppressive Fire comes in handy quite often when I solo. But even then, I still managed to find a nice balance between fun, concept, efficiency and price! Here's my build, if anyone's curious:

Well both your (Bright Shadow) and PC Guys builds give me something to think about for my own DP/MM build.

I have all the attacks except SF (animation is good, I just dont find a mag 3 hold useful...i need another hold to stack with it AND IF DID that's even more redraw).

Anyone have a link to Umbral's post giving the DPS of Dual Pistols compared to everything else? I can't find it now.

It's true. Suppressive Fire could be better (especially in the range area), but it goes well with my play style. I rely on Suppressive Fire and Telekinetic Thrust, and sometimes Subdue to keep enemies away from me. And when solo, it helps picking off nasty enemies like Sappers and Sorcerers.

But yes, the re-draw makes me sad.

fun is purely subjective. yea DP has cool animations, but for me, that only gets the set so far(throwing pistols up in the air is cool until you get killed mid animation). my build is maxed so i can make up for the lower DPS/DPA and redraw has compared to my other blasters.

More food for thought, here is my DP/MM//Cold's build. S/L Capped, 65% Rech, 22% global DamBuff (Helps with DP's over all DMG output)

The LoTG, Obliterations and Kinetic Combats make it a little pricey but not horrible.

The only attack I don't have is Peircing rounds because although the animation has a cool factor, I'm not a big fan of tossing my Gun in the air sporadically, plus I wouldn't have had any slots to give it, Suppressive Fire has a single slot with an Acc/Rech, since it is my highly situational power.

Agree about not wanting to use AoEs on single-targets. Just seems so wasteful.

ES also has reliable knockback with standard rounds, which helps a lot when soloing (DW seems to knockback only rarely). With build-up it's also a 1-shot kill vs minions. I wouldn't want to solo without it, DPA be damned.

As for animations, I personally don't like the throwing-the-guns-in-the-air schtick. ES looks way cooler. So it's got that goin' for it.

I didn't scroll through and read all of the posts, so I dont' know if anyone has suggested this already, but..

I would definitely suggest throwing a Devastation Hold Proc in Pistols. I have one in mine and it works wonders in PvP, it almost procs as much as Flares. Well maybe not THAT much, but still, it's clutch if it lands when your opponent only has about 10% health, leaving him stranded unable to use inspirations, hiber, or hoarfrost. It's so satisfying to run up and plant a flaming Executioner's Shot to the back of their cerebelum. xD

DUAL PISTOLS FTW!

It never ceases to amaze me how many people post a build and ask for comments on it, and the build incorporates multiple billions of inf worth of rare and purple enhancements, while so few post builds for comment that show the slotting and enhancements the character's going to have for the other 99% of play -- the time spent getting up to 50 and collecting the inf to buy all those purple enhancements. For all that you may be short-stroking all over yourself at how studly your character is going to be once they're fully purped out, you're going to be a long time getting there, and not making any plans for the trip is going to cost you more in the long run.

meh. thats not entirely true. there are plenty of people, myself included, that have played the game so long, know how it works, and have saved up enough influence that actually getting to 50 and slotting everything with expensive stuff takes all of 2-4 weeks. at most.

Positron's i13 letter: We are trying to make PvP more accessible to new players, while giving experienced PvP'ers the advantage that comes with formulating tactics around the new systems we're putting in place. PvP from now on will be on our priority list. If something isn't working out, we'll be in there tweaking it and making it work, for the entire future of the product, not just Issue 13.
