Guys, just a friendly request here. I created this thread for taunt team recruitment so I had one handy point of reference to enable me to put the team together.
It's now spanning several pages and there are only 8 sign ups out of the 40 posts here.
If you want to discuss where you think we have the wrong plan for Hamidon on Union and where the faults are, can you please start a seperate discussion thread. -
OK, it will be an 11.00 start but i'll be on from 10.00
HELIOSS - Big apologies for missing you out of the team
I copied the original team summary when I saw Two Fist was out instead of the second one by mistake. I'll catch up with you in game tonight and have a word with team two. If there's not room for you on that team, I'll have to bump one of the members from mine as you signed up first(Funny thing is, I thought I was missing a brute when I added Jadis but thought I was imagining it).
Sorry for that -
OK, team 1 for the early run is
Kinslayer - lvl 47 Fire/Thermal Corruptor
Dark Merchant - lvl 46 Stalker
Lord Torment - lvl 50 Robo/FF MM
Blind Minatuar - lvl 49 SS/Inv Brute (to confirm)
Spider Smasher - lvl 50 Nrg/Nrg Brute
Broken Echo - lvl 48 Stalker
Aphotica - lvl 50 Ice/Dark Corruptor
Jadis - lvl 48 ice/ice Dom
A nice well balanced team there.
See you all around 10.00 on Saturday -
OK, removed you from the list BJB and added Helioss in your place.
Kinslayer - lvl 47 Fire/Thermal Corruptor
Dark Merchant - lvl 46 Stalker
Lord Torment - lvl 50 Robo/FF MM
Two Fist - lvl ?? Nrg/Stone Brute
Helioss - lvl 50 SS/fire Brute
Blind Minatuar - lvl 49 SS/Inv Brute (to confirm)
Spider Smasher - lvl 50 Nrg/Nrg Brute -
OK, to recap, here is the early line up
Kinslayer - lvl 47 Fire/Thermal Corruptor
Dark Merchant - lvl 46 Stalker
Lord Torment - lvl 50 Robo/FF MM
Two Fist - lvl ?? Nrg/Stone Brute
Black Jon Blud - lvl 50 stalker
Blind Minatuar - lvl 49 SS/Inv Brute (to confirm)
Spider Smasher - lvl 50 Nrg/Nrg Brute
First thought on this is that we are VERY short on debuffer/buffers. As a result, the final spot will be reserved for one of those, regardless of next person to sign up. Also, if blind can't make it, will take another debuffer in his place.
Of course, sign up anyway as you'll be on the reserve list for any who drop out. -
Well, my experience is quite limited and will be refined to Union as I really know little about the Defiant guys.
Defender will be Shaman X, no contest. Rarely seen other defenders cause so many problems.
Tanks would be pretty limited as it's rare to see them so would have to go with Max Powerz.
Contollers, plenty to choose from so no point picking a specific one. Special note to Double Control though. Never seen one cut through mez protection as quick as him but would say mambo is one of the better ones I've fought.
Blasters. A bit tougher as most of them are blappers and the tactics I see used by them are very generic. Crimson Cannon is quite good but the one who impressed me I rarely see around. Morgan Le Fay actually played a blaster as, shock-horror, a ranged damage dealer and was impressive.
Scrapper wise, I'm quite surprised not to see this player mentioned yet as they PvP on Test, Defiant and Union and that is Spyka.
There are also a few from CoV that stand out. Prince Damian and Sturmovik on the brute side and Gutts for the stalkers -
I'm still trying to work out where my VG is going wrong prestige wise.
I got 'subbed' into E.V.I.L the other day for a raid and found that I was 200K ahead of their highest prestige earner, had similar levels and figures in terms of 'last on' days but they're way ahead of us in prestige rankings.
We also seemed almost identical with reagrds to top 10 earners but it's below that bracket my VG's letting itself down with at least 10 lvl 30-45's having not earned a single penny
Think a lot of it with my VG is that I don't insist everyone plays in VG mode and don't link VG promotions to prestige earned.
Maybe that's a stance I should change as it is quite disapointing to see two of our level 50's have earned less than 150K between them. Was always of the opinion though that people would want to play in VG mode once they had enough cash to cover SO's.
Definitely a case of time to start using the stick over the carrot I think -
OK, just judging interest for this.
Given that it's now been completed a couple of times and I've managed to level a bit more, I'm going to try and put a team together for it.
I'll be looking at starting around 11.00 a.m, maybe a bit later and it looks like it's an 8 hour SF. Do NOT sign up if unless you can guarantee you're there for the whole slog.
lvl 49-50's will get priority and please list your primary/secondary pools when signing up.
Requirements
- Must all have the three Warburg nukes
- Must all have Shivans
- Any other temp powers you can lay hands on would be nice -
OK, spotted a few mistakes in it and ways to improve it
Dark Narcosis - His name is spelt wrong in the display at the beginning of his segment. Also found this one of the more boring segments as there's little variety in it power wise with the same move being used over and over.
Havoc Fang - When he's dancing, Dark Narcosis' name pops up?
3 Corruptors - Doctor Dust's name is spelt wrong
Blind Minotaur - Name spelt differently in two places. Once in his seg and once in the start of the PVP section.
UI/Speech - I'm pretty sure there is a way to film it without the UI on display. Maybe somone can post how.
VG Leader - Not in there!
Overall, a pretty good video but the individual player segments seem to be a bit long. Personally, I'd have those a bit shorter or snappier (maybe have their name flash up followed by a quick portrait and then the final blow getting hit on one enemy with their highest level power before cutting straight to the next)
I'd then have a bit more group action with some big arena battles, GM/AV fights and general mob killing with brief flashes between different scenes.
Overall, very good and the above are just my opinions but at over 10 minutes, it does seem a bit long for a promo -

it has really changed the balance in raids and will make IoP worth the bother of trying to defend
[/ QUOTE ]
That is of coruse, if we ever see it. I still chuckle when I look at my CoV box and one of the main bullet points on the back is about bases and raids.
We're up to 8 months from launch and it's still not there. I did think we'd get it in I7 but it's getting beyond a joke now. -
[ QUOTE ]
That was number one on my list, but unfortunatly my brother has got a toon in that VG, so any events that take place I wouldn't be able to take part in.
(Seeing as he got there first)
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, I know some of the 1AT guys are in Bludd's VG, Double Control for example, so may be worth having a word with him. -
Don't even look beyond Energy Melee for offence. The stuns it has really put other sets to shame and damage output on it is very high.
Not too sure about energy for the defensive part though. Granite is the obvious one but you do have the horrid lack of mobility to overcome.
One of the best PvP brutes I've seen is an invuln so that could be a good set(or the guy could just be a good player). -
E.V.I.L(@Max Powerz), Demons & Vengeful Spirits(@Black Jon Bludd) and Violators(@Dr. Death?) are the main ones.
I'd definitely recommend E.V.I.L as they're a great bunch to play with but they're also a VERY popular one so get in quick if you want a space. -
Great job guys
Still a bit disapointed Max beat me to it as I was out drinking today(very gutted seeing the day it was arranged for) and sure you would have preferred a less noobish fire/thermal in his place
(You know I'm only kidding Max but would have been scary with both of us) -

I my raid taunting was done by a full tanker team on one 'side' of Hami near enough to him to be in the AoE of the Transfusions but out of the way from the Holding group.
All they needed to do was survive till they landed and the healing blanket started, then they were pretty much safe as anyone else in there.
Phil even complained cos he never planted once....
[/ QUOTE ]
Aye, the only problem we had was getting to Hami. You'd think that hitting 'F' for follow on the person running group fly would get you there no problem but we had a hell of a time just making it to cowards hill to ready for deployment.
Once we dropped, was never in danger of dying once. -

Not technically a new SG, we've been around quite a bit, but I'm changing and expanding it a lot, we need a lot more active members :P
[/ QUOTE ]
One of the toughest things to manage, activity. New Blood Rebellion were one of the bigger SG's for over a year and it's been REAL tough to keep us active in last 4 months due to
- Allowing too many alts
- Founding members finally leaving the game
- People moving to CoV
Good luck with keeping it going as I know how hard it is to revive an SG -
Because it's a pain scrolling back 4 pages to see the sets of the team you're up against... And Psydock's too lazy to do that
-
OK, 3vP is now drawing to a close and I have to say it's been one of the more successful PvP events I've seen, mainly due to the excellent format.
Now, I want to see what people think worked in it's favour and what didn't to try and use it for future competitions.
I'm going to list the good and bad points with possible solutions to try and help get an idea for a future one and would appreciate comments
Good
Team Sizes - Having just three people made it a lot easier to organise.
Random Teams - This was it's best point IMO.Players who were good at PvP but weren't part of well drilled teams could still compete. We all know that when big events happen and players who play together all the time enter teams, casual PvP'ers have no chance against their well rehearsed team work.
Mixed Teams - The fact heroes and villains were mixed was also a great move. Heroes V Villains is still uneven, especially pentads where villain AT's don't complement each other as well as Hero AT's where team roles are more defined.
Bad
No Shows Not Penalised - If people didn't show and their team won, they kept their life. Future ones should see people penalised either way.
Subs - In many matches, the subs really tipped the odds. The only way around this IMO is to have subs hand picked by the judges and as closely matched to the original player as possible. This does mean future events would need a pool of people not entering who were willing to be subs, maybe even subbing in more than one match to keep the builds as close as possible.
Unbalanced Teams - The first match where I had 3 squishies with no damage against 2 regens and a stalker almost made me not want to show. The way around that is a bit more tricky so here's how I think it could work.
Rank the builds. Now, I need suggestions on this but I see two or possibly three 'classes'. Non-squishies in the forms of Brutes, Tanks and Scrappers. Squishy damage in the form of Blasters, MM's and Corruptors. Squishy support in the form of Defenders, Controllers and Dominators. stalkers are missing as I'm really not sure if they should go in with Scrappers or Blasters as they are damage dealers but not sure if you class them as squishy or not.
So, how does it work? There's two ways really. Draw both team with one member from each 'class' or draw one team completely at random then just draw their opponents to correspond with their classes. Method one would see one of each class in a team, method two could see three non-squishies in a team but would guarantee they're also up against three other non squishies.
I prefer the sound of method one but the drawback is we would need even numbers of each class in the competition and as it wore on and one of a certain class saw a drop in numbers, it wouold make it impossible to do in later rounds(Thinking about it, not actually sure that can happen as equal numbers would go out each round I think?)
In theory it seems OK but looking at all the bad points of 3vP, none of them have been to do with the format but to do with the compeitiors so need to limit that being a factor as much as possible.
So, that's what i'm thinking and I am toying with organising something but would like feedback on what people think? Please, don't be afraid to poke holes in it but try not to be too negative and offer suggestions to cover those holes -

"ZOMG im no longer uber some one beat me in PvP" Pfft Adapt and learn easy.

Pretty much my view. Storm defenders are still the biggest problem for me behind spine/regens. -
Been meaning to ask this for a while.
I have a single hold on my ice corruptor and have it slotted with 2 ACC, 3 Hold and 1 end reduc(my build chews end so need it).
Now, looking at some builds, they seem to ignore the hold's and go for recharge in it's place. Can someone comment on how they would slot freeze ray and why?
Recharge on it is quite speedy but there is a delay and my slotting of it has been troubling me as i'm not sure if I should be putting recharges in place of the holds. -
Hammerfall has already posted something similar and has informed us that Cap Morgan is having R/L issues preventing him from doing the draw at the moment.
I've PM'd him offering to sort the draw out for him but not received a response as yet.
I'm happy to do it but without a full list of who is still in and one of the organisers giving the OK to do it, I can't proceed. -
[ QUOTE ]
Well, this isn't really true, you can't perma hold anything in PvP
[/ QUOTE ]
You may want to tell that to Double Control who had my integration running perma held after about 30 seconds. his hold was cycling back and locking on me again before the first hold was dropping -

Sad that am the first person to reply to this post in 3 days, wonder if base raiding will ever become more popular.
[/ QUOTE ]
That's because it's so uneven at the moment.
Before I7, it was all too heavily weighted in the attackers favour and after I7 it's the other way round. This is definitely a move in the right direction, but maybe a little too far the other way.
Small SG's doing raids will find it a lot more fun than big SG's for the simple reason of prestige. It seems that with the I7 changes to the strenght of objects, once you bypass the 5-8 million prestige barrier, you can pretty much construct your base so it defends itself and player skill really goes out the window.
One or two test raids will show you where the enemy spawn spots are and two or three elite turrets with damage boosters covering the spawn spots will have most invaders dead or down to red health before the screen even loads up for them.
Actually done one a few nights back and I popped 5 lucks and 5 sturdys before activating the Demonic Aura accolade then zoning in with a tray full of respites. Then started spamming F1 to pop the respites in vain attempt to clear the spawn spot turrets... No chance. Was dead before I could take more than 3 respites.
Perosnally, I'd like to see some sort of 'entering PvP zone' status like in the zones where you have a few seconds that you can't attack or be attacked. 5 or 10 seconds should be long enough to cover zone loads and getting clear of spawn spot defences so you actually get a chance to take action. -
Well, looks like Xanth's fixed it all now anyway
-
Going to be running this with a few of my VG but should have some spots available.
It's 15+ and could really do with a -regen. Got plenty coming along but none that have their -regen available at lvl 20
A couple of us will be doing Shivan/warburg nuke runs though just in case.
anyone interested, catch me from 17.30 onwards on @kinslayer
