    This IMO is the only thing that the defenders MIGHT have a shot at convincing the dev's to work with. The inherent effect is garbage, and where you should be focusing on getting your buff from. Get something that works alittle bet better and solo, that'll help. But it'll still leave the defenders as second class teamsupport, which is kind of ironic as they are the only AT in the game with team support as a primary. heh.
  2. Defenders are a little upstaged by controllers, i agree. The problem is, the only real way to fix the situation is to nerf the controller, either it's damage or it's secondary, signifiently. And it won't happen. The dev's buffed the controller damage to compansate for the control nerfs. Alot of us controllers at the time were epicly PO'd at the dissission. I'd rather have been a weak dmg controller, and great control, then a damage dealling controller with joke controls. Even to this day, i speck on the side of team defence and forgo damage.

    I don't belive the dev's will flip flop on this. The damage stays. So nerf the secondary? You need to nerf the living hell out of it in order for controllers to be equal to defenders in team support. Control, even weaker control, + buffs/debuffs will aways be better then Buff/debuffs alone, even with higher values. And nerfing the secondays that much would set controllers apart as the only AT secondary isn't 75% there primary... the dev's won't do this either, IMO, because the controler comunity would have a kiniption fit.

    Not to mention the fact, that the defender AT is hardly underrepresinted. I see, even to this day, normally more defenders then i do controllers. Teams are always looking for defenders even over controllers. Defenders, when built well, are very awsome. Which is why they won't get buffed... they'd easily become overpowered...

    And that's why, IMO, defenders are kind of stuck. Nerfing controllers is out because of the magnutide of the nerfing needed, and buffing defenders is out because they'er already a great at that'd only become overpowered in the process.

    The real mistake, was having 2 support classes sharing the same kind of support powersets. Notice they for the most part got it right in CoV? One control damage class... one buff/debuff damage class.. one pet classes is highly reduced secondarys... from the start.

    Which is why, alot of people IMO are correct in saying, this won't get fixed till CoH2. Sorry to say.

    In the day I always held PB up to be the gold standerd of mez protection. It was near complete, double stackable, and could never be dropped.

    Now a days, i still think its exellent, and still has some nice perks, Double stacking, no suppression, and cost less end.. but it's lost it's luster a bit with no toggle mess protection droping when held. I think if they made it work like a brake free... for the few times it cycles up when you are held, that's be a nice perk... it wouldn't happen all to often, as you'd need to be held, a rareity in pve for any melee, at the moment it recycles, and have the end to pull it off.

    So in other words, it wouldn't happen all that much, but when it does, it's be a nice "bonus". Thats my 2 cents.
  4. I'd agree Rage is stronger then build up, it's kind of a no brainer, but is SuperStrength the strongest of all tanker secondarys? (or brute primaries) I don't think so. I haven't played them all, but i've seen some very impressive EM and Stone's put out some nice damage. My Axer does some decent dmg, and on my brutes, my fire melee guys damage is off the hook.

    So, IMO, the powerset seems balanced too me, and that's all that matters to me.

I forgot to turn auto-billing back on at the end of the game card month, and so my account was actually down for about 16 hours before I noticed it, and quickly logged on to account management to get billing going again.     Experiment with it on Test once it goes into beta; from the way that Auras operate, anything that's black is completely transparent; for characters that I wanted to have an aura like, say, black tendrils, I needed to pick either the next gray up from black or the darkest purple/blue to get something that showed up.

    Other then match the secondary effects to the primary effects, (most notable on my Sonic/EM blaster and my iLL/Sonic troller..) hasten, and oh yes, chance my brutes lighting to blue, as i utterely hate the red lighting effect, is it.

    Ive grown used to everything else... It'd be wired to change it now.

    New guys though, heh, who knows what i'll come up with...

    I'm not really needing any IO's atm, so i'm looking for cash so i can buy stuff you can't get with merits. I started a little crafting business on red side. need to get off my butt and finish off my badges on blue side (still need to do the 50's.)... and random roll after my TF's.... maybe even try PvP.. (trying to change up my play style. Less alting since i'm running out of ideas and more accually lvl 50 play..)
  10. The don't stack? Hmm. I have one in each of my Merc pet summons... figuring it'd make them a debuffing mechien. ah well...

    So, if i decide to take 2 of them out, who's the best one to leave it in? the soilders? figure they'd get the most shots off for a better chance of it landing... or just leave them all in so my odds are that much better to keep the debuff on as often as possible?

    Maybe replace 2 of them with a resist IO and a Def one, and one -res prog...

    Hmmm. have to think on this...
  11. For the first time in 5 years, my alt-a-holic tendencys are going into remission. It's an odd feeling, but i find myself running more and more TF's with my 50's, and making fewer and fewer alts.

    This has lead me to be in the situation i feared i would be in when merits were introduce. 27 lvl 50's, all with merits ranging from 5 to 30 or so... not able to buy anything, but not played enough to really save them either. Saving on a new guy is easy, and what i've been doing. But when tfing, i kind of go with the flow, if the team needs a tank, i tank. A defender, i defended. Damage, I blast or scrap. When it doessn't matter, it's the enney meainy minny moe system... >.> <,<

    So, i suppose from this point on, with meh 50's it's random roll time. And now finaily here's my question...(i ramble)

    Where is the best lvl range a 50 can pick to random roll for selling purporses?

    I tended to focuse on doms when i saw them, cause i remembered back in my troller days AoE control had a major -acc penetality, and always hated it. So id try and help out by giving them the +to hit buff. Now, with the damage buff, for sure. But in all honesty, i don't team with all that many doms. Or i should say, i haven't. I think that may chance in the near future. heh.
  13. Huh. learn something new everyday. So forging the brute for damage is a bad idea, cause they have low base damage, and that's what the buff, buffs? I've honestly never thought of it that way...

  14. As i was pondering I16 and color changes.

    I was wondering if a feature could/will be added with it.

    My goal is to "match" my powers colors if at all possible. I have a Sonic/EM. I'd like my EM fists to match the sonics. I'm going to tint my hasten effects to match whatever powers i have...(Rads, Gravity, Ice, ect.)

    It would be really helpful... if there were some kinds of presets for powersets. Like, you want hasten to match... Gravity. you could either play with the colors youself, or just pick "gravity", and sets the colors to match gravitys.

    I just have a hard time matching up colors easily. I forsee me tinkering and tinkering and tinkering to get a perfect match... this... would be awsome.

    Indeed. I really wish they'd add a "enemys last tohit chance" to your stat montering like we have for your last to hit chance. just so i don't have to watch the combat log to see it. It all goes by so quickly when your battling a hord of people. >.>

    Me to I'm confused too, I have 6 lvl 50 Scrappers 2 of them are /SR and they are not weak at all they are 2 of my best. I don't see how anyone could say /SR under underperforming when you now have Shield Defense. Shield Defense as lower Defense number and as lower Resistance to Defense of Debuff. Two big things a Defense set likes to have high.

    SR can be uber or sucky, depending on how you build and PLAY it.

    If your of the mindset that inspreations are for the weak... leveling up a SR, can feel painful. If your not, and you eat a purple or two before a big fight, it's as easy as it gets.

    If you don't softcap, it can feel weak. If you do, it feels overpowered.

    Mine are softcapped (2 scraps and a brute) and i feel inspreations are part of the game for a reason, meaning i eat them like candy, thus, IMO, SR is prolly the best proforming scrapper secondary in the game, hands down without question.

    If you don't softcap and feel inspreations are for sissys... it'd prolly underproform. *shrug*

    IMO, the #1 under proforming set is Gravity. I've been a gravity users since day freaking ONE. Gravity/Kin. first hero, first 50, the toon i consider my "main" But lately, after having played... ALL the other controller primarys... i can hardly bring my self to play him. His control is very lacking. AoE wise, he has 2 real options. GDF, which is a nice hold, but you use it every 3rd spawn or so. Wormhole, which, when it's not bugged works OK after you get the hang of placing the mobs, but, for me anyways, has been next to unuasble cause my TP ratical seems to go red on the ground ALOT and won't let me finish the move. (have this issue from time to time on my Elec brute and Shield scrapper. VERY annoying, but them sets still kick butt IMO dispite the glitch.)

    So, one great but slow aoe hold, one tricky to use, and glitchy aoe mezz, and a phase shift i've found useful, not even half a dozen times in 5 YEARS. Sure, i've save the team once or twice by phaseing some over argo, but power that's useful once every few HUNDERED play sessions is kind of crappy IMO...

    It's single target control is pretty good in all honesty, but all but pointless in group play. Group play is about AoE control.

    The pet is like, there. It helps control a little bit, but it's a single target focus too, you have to get kind of close to the action to get him to do anything anyways, and if you get him too close, mobs go flying...

    So gravity... underproforms, and take alot of practice and fine tooning got reach said underproforming levels... it's kind of said really.

  18. As stated, we don't know, but i sure hope we can tint pool powers. I really want to change the color of the flames form hasten. It just looks kind of strange on my ice/storm guy, a master of cold and ice, to have flaming hands... if i could shift the flames to a blue tinit, eh, it'd be better thats forsure. a whole new effect would be better, or an option to turn off the effect would be ideal... but we just don't know atm. All we know for sure is, we can have blue and pink fire emps... >.>

    I can make a Hurdle + Combat Jumping build which moves faster than the Fly cap. My "normal" speed on characters ranges between slightly faster than Fly with two Fly Speed IOs and slightly faster than Fly with three Fly Speed IOs.

    The temp jet packs are slow by default, but even those can be improved if you know what you're doing.

    Honestly, this game is so travel friendly, i can't disagree that going TPless isn't anything more then a minor inconvience. I just love the speed of getting places so much in this game, it's such a change from what i'm used too, that i can't imagian NOT taking a tp. But that's me.

    Now, that's assuming you at least make an effort to get to missions as quickly as you can. (which you seem to be an expert at. LOL) I've been on a few teams with TPless people who expect to be tp'ed everywhere. That gets annoying...

    They wait till the team gets to the mission... ask for tp 3 or 4 times, being told none has it each time, THEN say something like, "i guess i got to run, no tp so it may take awhile..." I'm just dieing to say, DUDE, if you'd started running when the REST of us did, you'd have been here by the time you asked for a tp the 2nd or 3 time... grr.

    It's happened a few times. The team never kicks them, but we don't WAIT for them. Heh.

    The IR power, the superjump clone, IS a very valid replacement for a TP. Once you have it, your golden. Controllers and Corruptors have to wait a bit for it.. mid 20 IIRC. defenders get it at 18. If i ever get a disrie to run a 4th kin, i'd consider repsecing once i had IR out of a TP, but not before it had it. Cause syphone speed is NOT, IMO of course, a good subsutite for superspeed. It can miss... and does... often if your trying to zome through a high lvl zone... no stealth... So you not only draw argo from runing by, since you have stealth, you have to actively attack a mob to get the buff.

    don't get me wrong here, it's an exellent power i have on all 3 of my kins, but not because it makes a good travel power.

    Course, no a days with zero g packs and raptor packs you have options to help you get around while you wait until you can get IR. Then after that, your golden.

    Kins are the ONLY powerset i'd personal ever consider going TPless. But seeing as how the 3 I have all have TP's, maybe not. heh.

    It's funny, i've never had an issues fitting in 2 power choices for a travel power. Ever. Travel powers are great because they pretty much work at maximum benefit stright out of the box, and require no, or very few slots to be satistifactory.

    And you need a few powers you can use without needing slots, since, frankly, i run out of slots for my powers faster then i run out of power choices... heh. I'd trade a few power choices on some builds for more slots... so stuff like a travel power or fitness, stuff that's nice to have but use slots, are god sends to me.

    I've played so many MMO's where travel time was 90% of the game. Back in my AC days, it wasn't unheard of to travel over 30 mins to a dungon... some really nasty ones took and hour or MORE. And god forbide you died on the way...

    SWG, the worlds were HUGE, and speeders were SLOW...

    Here, the speed of travel is SOOOOO nice... And being a 60 month vet... getting Superspeed at 6 and swift at 8 means i'm booking nearly out of the gate. It's awsome. It's how i do all my builds now, then, sometime in my 20 or so, i'll respec into a different Travel power if the concept demands it. Like a flyer. Fly is so slow at first, no deal, and superjump is kind of slow too at first, but not SuperSpeed. train switf, and turn on sprint, and you'll be faster then the fastest flyer at lvl 8 EASY.

    Plus, you get to mess with the noobies. "how the heck do you have superspeed already!?!?" "I hax" is my standered reply.

    anyways, i always advise taking Travel powers because from MY point of view, they make the game so convient. But if your not bothered by the speed of the raptor pack, then, at this point in the game, seeing as how you can buy them now... there is no real downside for you to go TPless.
  22. I made a new tank, like a week ago, he's lvl 4... he's named Meanstreet... it's a fire/dark... if i went to icon and darkend his skin a bit... he could be a alt reality version of BAB... I had no real concept in mind when i made him other then a kind of roughneck brawler... sooo.. that could work if your intrested in him. I could try and be a static memeber of a team... thursday nights are normally pretty good for me...

    I powergame TF's all the time, and I always pull my weight thank you. SK up to the max, and kick butt. It takes longer then a PL, but it's fun and you polish your skills with your current alt.

    As for how fun the are, i have no idea. I rarely Beta test, i mean, i'm going to play it to death in live where it counts, so i don't burn myself out on it when it doesn't, IMO, "count" on test.

    Cool. To bad i don't have anyone who can LEVEL on it, but i've got plenty of 50s ready to check it out.
