I hope someone has the skills and knowledge to make a Power Customization Chart for the colorblind. I'm not colorblind myself, but even the changes to the Patrol XP color made it easier for me to see.
I never knew those color names myself. I always called them Pale Red, Pale-ER Red and Bland Red, rather than *looks at chart* Fire Brick, Indian Red and Dusty Rose.
Yeah, I can't help make a chart, this'll be up to someone else. -
Quote:Interesting point...could you elaborate on it?
I've heard from friends that "All Defender TFs" go off without a hitch...but then, so do "All Tanker TFs", "All Scrapper TFs", "All Controller TFs", etc...My point being, put 8 of anything together in this game, and they will synergise...
Repeat Offenders consistently make the stupidly difficult easy. -Castle
While 8 Tankers could be quite a sight, even they'd have difficulty getting the 'Master Of' badges. -
Whoa. Where did these come from? I wanna know more!

Thank you for your time and effort!

Quote:*nods sagely*I'll suggest Dark/Dark for a defender.
It's an excellent combo to play - and is extremely useful in a team as well.
An attack chain of Fearsome Stare - Tar Patch - Darkest Night - Tenebrous Tentacles - Nightfall will reduce any mob to completely useless in seconds.
As a bonus it has a high number heal, which is useful in causing -regen when fighting AV's.
Plus ... You get 'Fluffy'
The dark graphic aspect of the powers does put some people off, but with colour customisation only hours away that will be a thing of the past.
My main is a lvl 50 Dark/Dark/Dark Defender, and his powers are set up to make him as powerful in the -ToHit abilities as can be made and have good damage.
While I may never kill things as quick as my partner, an Elec/Elec/Elec Blaster, I can do so with very little to no damage coming my way (my partner though just kills them too fast to hurt him enough). I'd be able to do even more damage had I taken Gloom, but for concept reasons it was dropped (my character wouldn't be throwing a skull like that), and with the VERY skippable Black Hole in Dark Miasma and skipping Torrent (it was fun to KB Thorns 30 levels below me off of rooftops, it didn't get used in combat) I was able to take all the other powers and use them quite a bit.
Fluffy's contributions to the -ToHit is even that much more icing on the cake, and since I got him some recharge to be up more often, I sometimes sacrifice him to take dangerous Alphas for me. >3 *summons into a mob*
The utility capabilities of Dark/ and the damage potential of /Dark, with the added usefulness of Darkness Mastery make a D4 quite a lovely set, able to work well on teams, solo, mass enemy mobs and single AVs alike; all in the same mission without having to switch builds (though if one were so inclined and had the funds to do so, making a specific Team/Solo build would make you even more powerful in the selected field). -
Farmers will continue to farm, it's a fact of life.
The good thing is they can do it themselves now by using the new difficulty options.
Now people begging to get on farms. . . .that can't be helped. We'll still get "LF AE Farm!" all the time, whether they can get on one or not.
I can remember one persistent guy "Level 1 Scrapper LF Boss Farm", spamming it every 4-5 seconds. I even said he could get levels faster by doing stuff himself and he flipped out on me. An hour later, my toon went from 2 to 10, had both temp packs from the Safeguards and he was still sitting there spamming "Lvl1 Scrp LF AE Boss Farm!" -
My Forum handle is just to have something different from my typical online handle. The name itself came from my old AOL days, where I was Lance3397, which slowly changed over the years as I switched providers, e-mail, and the like. The number itself was just something at random I used to have the 'lance' name, as that's what I used during AOL's old old OLD Neverwinter Nights game (which was my weapon of choice during that time), and for the sake of keeping it I've kept it after leaving AOL.
When making this forum handle, I wanted to change it a little bit. My main is Shadow Kiana, so I took Kiana and simply added Zero to it, because, well, I think Zero for a character name is pretty cool.
Since I wanted to have a toon named after my handle, I figured why not and made a teenaged clone of my main and named him "KianaZero", so the character, handle and names came full circle. -
I only have a couple Stone Armor characters, and only one of them is currently high enough to get Granite.
I'd vote YES for the change. While I kinda half-like the changing into a huge DE model, I'd like being able to change/color a new version even more.
GRIGNAK NO MORE! Long live the new Granite! -
Quote:Wow, so many people buying so many tickets.I will bite... sounds like fun put me in for
100 million
when and where do we make the exchange?
I think all my toons put together wouldn't equal 100Mil.
Oh well, 1Mil worth of tickets for me.
I love lotteries, even though I never win. ^_^; -

Quote:I actually have to drastically change my planned builds should I ever get a Purple. Most of the time, with my 6-slotted powers are 3-3 split with 2 IO Sets to maximize as much as I can. I usually can get at least 3 or 4 stats to about 73% with the others being a fair % around 47 or 60. Since I try to get everything the power can do as maximized as I can get without overslotting. My thinking in this style of slotting is so I can almost always hit, do fair damage, cost little end, recharges at a fair rate, and do a fair amount of any secondary effects, thereby letting me use the power all the time and let it do what it does.City of Heroes wasn't like that, and even today still isn't like that. Oh, sure, we have fat loot for those who can't live without it, but from where I stand, all it's good for is chest-beating. Since I don't care about being the best or even more powerful than I need to, I have the very real option to NOT get locked into the rat race, ignore the whole thing and play the game like it was 2004.
Though when I DO get a Purple, I kinda feel like when I found a secret spot in Mario 64/Sunshine by accident. ^_^ -
When the AE was first on Test, I was playing around in the Library part of it (No powers! YAY), and I turned around and *Blip* Positron logged in!
He was, naturally, being swamped with tells and questions and global chats; but I did get to ask him a couple questions that he did answer!
Like this one.
Oops. That was just me bowing to him. ^_^; The guy in red started doing the same thing too, to which Positron told us in local "Get up you two."
When asked about his costume and his lack of cape and/or aura, he responded "I'm a pre-aura kind of guy."
This was, naturally, done in jest, but still I'd say that this shows that a makeover won't be in the works for a good, long time. ^-^; -
Well, when you say it like that...
-
Wow, those ARE incredibly similar.
And no, there was no Combine in HL1, the main badguys were Xen and the US Military. According to the storyline between the games the satellite that Gordon launched in HL1 to call for help just so happened to be the perfect beacon for the Combine to use to invade Earth. Their invasion happened sometime after HL1, but I'm not sure at how long after. -

Quote:Pretty easy. Mom moved to Ohio from Nome when she was 8 when Grandma got remarried. Grew up in Ohio, met dad, had me, and we moved to California so dad could get a job he was after. Moved to Georgia so he could keep the job and be promoted to middle management. How did you get on the other end of the country like that?
No wonder you're rare there. I lived in Georgia for over 10 years, and I never saw one of you the whole time.
Sure, I'm only half-Eskimo, but I don't look half. I guess mom's genes were dominant. I've got our people's eyes, hair, skin color, love of cold, all that good stuff. -
Quote:I would want the Diné(Navajo) and Apache language server. Though there is only about 400k left alive.... but what the heck, ya can dream.
Yah tah hay!
BC
What about an Eskimo server? There's only 150,000 of us left.
Yes. I'm an Eskimo. I don't know how many there are living in Georgia, but there's at least 2, me and mom.
We're pretty rare anymore. -
Quote:You know, that gives me the self image of other MMO's, cutting away at the field of NPCs, trying to find That One Drop and sweating the whole day while doing it.Farming in this game is differant than most games. The traditional definition of farming is preforming the same taks repeatedly, usually fighting a single enemy type or boss, to obtain a specific reward. IE, "This boss drops a weapon, I want that weapon, therefore I won't stop killing him til I get it."
CoX is differant, because there is no "X drops Y". Almost anything can drop almost everything. So the task is modified, farming becomes killing as many enemies as possible in a short amount of time to get the reward.
Is this wrong? Not really, it's a fundamental part of gaming which everyone does, to one extent or another.
The problem lies not with farming as a whole, but with powerlevelling. Farming for XP is differant, and unhealty to the game balance. We've all seen the "AE Babies", and they speak for themselves.
The other problem is AE. It was not designed for making farms, and doing so is basically spitting in the face of the people who went through programming Hell to design it. It's like making a new toy for a child, and then watching the child gleefully smash it to pieces. They might think it's fun, they might say "You didn't say not to", but your hard work was just ruined.
While CoH shakes its head, walks off and finds something bigger! -

I joined in the opening days of Issue 4, and it took me quite a while to get my first toon to 50.
It seems like the road to 50 is much shorter than it used to be. Most of my toons never get outside of Patrol XP once they hit the 20's and up just thanks to me having alts. I don't think I've seen the Debt Bar's color in months.
Then again I've noticed the trend of gaming length to be cut more and more as time goes on. Fallout 3's story is shorter than Oblivion's, which was shorter than Morrowind, which seemed smaller than Daggerfall's. I completed FEAR 2's single player storyline in just a couple days, while FEAR 1's took be about a week. Compare that to several months worth of play out of Deus Ex. Fable 2's story was pathetically short compared to Fable: The Lost Chapters (and even the original Fable too) -

I use Teleport on several of my Spider characters; RPing it as a hack into the Reclimator Grid around the isles like Manticore hacked into the Mediport server.

Sam makes a lot of good points here.
I'm not against the idea, but I am forced to agree with him that it isn't really feasible or practical for the combat system we currently have.
If they had coded dynamic, tactically based combat into the game from the start it might have worked.
The catch to that is: If they HAD done that, would the game have been as successful as it is? A LOT of players like this game precisely because they don't need split second reflexes.
How long do you figure a 48 year old mother of 3 with carpal tunnel will continue to play if suddenly her reaction time and reflexes determined whether her character lived or died?
It would be great for your average 19-25 year old gamer, but what about the older crowd who didn't grow up playing twitch games that trained their reflexes to react in such situations?
[/ QUOTE ]
Hey, I grew up with twitch games and I'm no good at them.
Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, I barely get by. Team Fortress 2? I prefer the Medic; he doesn't require much twitching, just hosing my team down with my HP gun and hiding behind the Heavy. Couldn't do Counter Strike to save my soul.
