  1. With Hasten, the recharge, and the recharge procs, I get LR/Shield Charge every ~18 to ~23 seconds (if the procs go off more than once within the recharge). Build Up matches with them. It is pretty outrageous.

Trying to do something similar with my TW/WP guy. I don't think I can get the recharge up that high though, while retaining def caps/respectable resist levels for S&L + regen. I used pretty much all my money on the EM/Shields guy too, but I have a ton of enhancement unslotters (and can just get more from the market if needed), so I'd swap the overly expensive enhancements...just too bad they don't use the same sets.

The good news on the recharge front is that I can put the Force Feedback: +Recharge in 9239298 powers.

We need to start a petition to allow that buff to stack.
  2. Here is my Elec/Shields guy's build. This is not a budget build.

I personally just like teleport powers, so Spring Attack has replaced Jacobs Ladder. Jacobs Ladder is the better power, and you can use the same enhancements in it, so the build doesn't change short of that. Grant Cover is also something I opted out of, just for lack of space to pick it. You can fiddle around if you want, it helps for defense debuff resistance. I don't have many issues without it though.

That isn't what you said at all. You said:

That says "I think they are OP and shouldn't be used."

I wouldn't want to be part of a DPS contest being judged by someone who doesn't understand *basic* DPS calculations. While I'm sure you're capable of hitting a stop watch and stopping it, this again, doesn't bode well.

1080 is a curse. I've grown much too fond of 1920x1200. I need my 16:10, and they are so much more difficult to find now (at consumer pricing). Running two 26" now, and Asus stopped producing them, so my OCD won't allow a different brand.

  5. I would personally go with the second. The gfx card is going to be more important than the processor, and the i5 is no joke as it is.

I currenly have a second gen i5 with integrated graphics that I play CoH on when I'm not home to play on my desktop.

I can't fit it, and JL in. It isn't bad, but being that it is on a different recharge than LR and SC, it is dicey. As mentioned above, for DPS, go JL, for cool-factor, go Spring Attack!

Clearly people are OK with not showing up too. I'm not sure what all your fuss is about, a 2 minute cooldown that does ~500 damage isn't all that game breaking. My Lightning Rod hits harder than that and is up every ~20 seconds. Hell, the animation probably makes it worse for DPS in some cases. I was speaking more of Ageless though.

Also, I don't think thinnly veiled insults help you gain traction either. Good luck with your contest. I'll go farm 2b in the time your contest takes, with my Judgement and Lore.
  8. I took Spring Attack because I like having 3 teleport powers (4 after 21.5!)

Although I may end up going back to JL for DPS reasons.

In the meantime, I'm basically screaming, "Take my money," as loud as I can.

I'm thinking that perhaps if I opened this up to Brutes I would get a better response?
I wouldn't participate because I worked hard to get my scrapper where he is, and limiting my choice in Incarnate slots, after I worked to get them, is a turn off. I'm with whoever else said that the Lore slot restriction is reasonable (as it isn't really the scrapper doing damage). Aside from that, I know I was very specific about what I chose for DPS/survivability. If I'm entering a contest for single target DPS, I'm going to build a scrapper for it.

Of course there is always the server transfer stuff, which ends up having an additional cost. After sinking 19b into my scrapper, 2b just doesn't seem worth the hassle. The test server was a good idea, or if you created a level one on participants' servers, and sidekicked up to 49 and judged like that.

I'm generally happy with around 50-60% global recharge, and maybe Hasten for those times I want stuff coming back faster. I know I'm an oddball among scrapper players, but I'd rather build for survivability and have my damage a few points below optimum DPS numbers. I like knowing that when the feces hits the rotating blades, I'll survive it.

Nothing wrong with lots of recharge, just not my style.
I have no survivability issues, and survivability is the #1 priority on my list, recharge being second. I have no endurance issues for a couple of reasons:

    1) Everything dies before I use my bar, due to massive recharge!
    2) If I do get low on endurance (farming an ambush mission or something with tons of enemies), I have conserve power -- I use it and it recharges fast enough that it is more than ready before the next time I need it.

You also have to keep in mind that with a defense set, the longer you fight, the greater the # of hits are. Without (a lot of ) regen/resists, you want to kill stuff fast. That is part of your defense too.

In rare occasions (usually soloing grenade/acid things), I have to use my Incarnate heal, but that also then buffs my regen for the 2 mins it is down. Short of getting an unlucky alpha strike, I never die. That is the same scenario any defense build is in though.

I have a Spines/Elec scrapper in his upper 20's. He has been shelved because the lack of a taunt aura is terribly frustrating. Mobs seem to almost flee on sight.
Yeah, I tried last night. It does suck chasing enemies around. Mine hit 25 and I gave up.

This thread will show you in great detail how to make an excellent AE farmer with almost zero (seriously you don't even really need to buy SO's) investment.
That is an awesome thread. I think I'll go with Spines/Elec though, running with the idea of two dmg auras full of procs.

My Elec/SD guy is awesome for farming, don't get me wrong. ~20 second recharges on LR and SC yields much death...but it was expensive getting there. My brother has a Claws/WP guy who I've power level'd alts with by sitting him in a mission with Spin on auto -- then watched Netflix on my other screen. Every so often I'd have to refresh Hasten or use a Judgement, but it was very non-intrusive.

Spending a couple hundred million on a guy to get capped and farm AE won't be too bad, and I'll generate the money right back in no time.

Thanks for the heads up with that post!
  14. That definitely works, and yeah, it is like 2 merits an a million inf or something. I think it is more worth getting the Glad 3% +Def for 30 merits though. AE farming gets you money, and AE tickets for the rolls. Not to mention selling the recipes you don't need.

I looked at it as an win/win. I get money and recipes, and when enough money is generated, you can fill out the rest of your pieces that you didn't roll for.

The 2 3% pieces are a huge help in end cost, as you can drop maneuvers, and slot for some end recovery/cost.
  15. I've gotten all of mine from farming AE points and rolling for Gold class recipes. I'm actually sitting on a couple to build my DM/SR guy some day. Once you get def cap, you should be find to steamroll some farming instances! You'll have the pieces in no time -- and in the mean time, you'll get other set recipes while trying to get the 7.5s.
  16. Looks a bit end heavy, but I think you can pull it off for less than 1 billion.

I'd take the def LotG out of Defelction (since you're over cap by ~2% for melee already) and put in a LotG 7.5 recharge to get your 5th.

I'll keep that in mind next respec. It is pretty much just there to hold the set though. I don't think I've actually used it more than 4 times in the last month, so it isn't a huge issue. It does have kind of a long animation for what it's worth.

Can't drop Havoc Punch, first power.

I agree. The fewer slots the better for def cap. Building up my DM/SR guy next. Did my Elec/Shield guy with a total of 4 slots in deflection and battle agility (each), 3 slots in tough and weave (each), and single slotted combat jumping. It was a bit on the expensive side...but your point stands. Fewer slots in defense powers help other places.

That left room for other bonuses I wanted in other powers -- which give the defense, but gave me enough sets to get my recharge to astronomical levels, and have good recov/regen.

I'll be building my DM/SR guy the same way, minimal slotting for defense, to get damage output + other survivability up.

My only regret is not fitting in Jacob's Ladder. I could drop Spring Attack, but I like teleport powers. I'm not short on attacks either, I can cycle Thunder Strike, Chain Induction, and Energy Torrent without delay (usually), and can stick in a Havoc Punch if needed.

It can be worth significantly more in powers that are not fully enhanced for Recharge.

It's a pretty big deal. AFAIK, Mids' takes care of the calcs for you, though, so I wouldn't sweat it. If you have selected the appropriate Alpha boost in the Incarnate window and have the toggle set to ON, the numbers you're seeing for each power include the Alpha bonus.
I see! I was expecting it under Totals -- I see it when I highlight powers. It is 22 seconds, not counting the possible boosts from the recharge chance.

    Thanks!
  22. Sitting at 92.5 on my EM/SD now, with hasten up (perma'd), 162.5. That doesn't include level 4 reactive Incarnate 45% recharge -- although I'm not sure how they add up together, it doesn't show in my combat attributes.

Overall though, I time LR and SC at ~22 seconds, down from 1.5 mins. That doesn't include the recharge proc in TS.

End seems to be great with the build too, if I have issues, I use Conserve Power and by the time it ends, I'm back at full end...and it recharges by the time I need it again.

The only piece I'm short right now is the Glad set 3% +Def to all (which I'm bidding on/making offers out of market for).

    ****edit****
I think I'll take a defense out of ranged and throw a slot into Energy Torrent for antoher +Recharge chance.

  23. Hi all, I currently have 2 bil bidding on one.

If anyone has one for sale, let me know, and if 2b isn't in your negotiation range, I'll farm up some more.

Feel free to PM me here, or in game @keplar

    Thanks

I'll verify this when I get home, but I don't think you need to be on the ground for any of the teleport attacks...of course I never took fly/hover in a build, but I have all 3 teleport attacks to play with. I know I can target straight up/through walls and it works.
