  1. The electric cage is the Lockdown hold. As I understand it, it doesn't actually raise the mag of the existing hold, it just applies its own 2-mag hold, which happens to have the Tesla Cage graphic. If the enemy ends up held and the Lockdown hold is applied to them, that graphic plays.

And dude, you could buy a sweet gaming rig for $14500.
  3. Kelenar - 50 Storm/Elec - My first character I really RP'd, my first 50. Back in the days when men were real men, women were real women, and Storm got you kicked from teams before you even got to the mission door.
Kai-Lian - 50 Dark/Elec - Lockdown and then extra lockdown just in case. My first character to ever make me eye hazard zone mobs with multiple bosses and go '... I bet I can take that.'
Shatterware - 50 Rad/Rad - Probably my favorite character to play on teams to this day. The combo's such a swiss army knife.
Qiao Huang - 50 Cold/Ice - ... feels like she helps the team more than about any two of the others combined on the STF.
Hail Striker - 50 Storm/Archery - All the Storm, 10000000% the Rain of Arrows!
    Kael'en - 39 Rad/Dark - Like Rad/Rad, but with more tentacles.
    Aurie - 33 Trick Arrow/Archery - Like a Blaster and a pit of fire had a baby!
Ism the Loremaster - 23 Trick Arrow/Sonic - A good combo, but I just can't get into it.
Field Supervisor Orr - 21 Force Field/Dark - Force Field makes me yawn. Where are all the debuffs?!
Cobalt Bomb - 13 Sonic/Sonic - Duoing with another sonic/sonic. Should be quite powerful once we bother to level them.
  4. So, slotting up my dom today, I noticed that Arctic Air takes fear IOs/sets. I looked at the power info, and sure enough...

50.00% chance for 3.00 magnitude fear on target
30.00% chance for 3.00 magnitude confuse on target after 1.00s delay

But I've never seen an enemy in Arctic Air stop to cower, nor have I seen fear graphics on them. This isn't really conclusive, though, since I've never seen confuse graphics on enemies in it either, and I know that that works.

The information above doesn't list any durations, so out of curiosity, I dragged a confuse DO and a fear DO over the power.

    confuse
    Base Value: 2.48s
    Value: 2.48s (+0.0%)
    Replace: 2.89s (+16.7%)

    Fear Duration
    Base Value:
    Value: +0.0%
    Replace: +16.7%

So, Fear lists no duration. Between that and the fact that I've never seen an enemy cower inside AA, I'm guessing that the fear effect on it is just referring to the general 'oh no, it's cold! Run away!' effect, since fear is also listed on powers like Tornado and Water Spout... but those can't be enhanced for fear.

So, I guess what I'm curious is, does anybody have any idea what a fear enhancement placed in here does? Is it a bug that they're allowed? If not, do enemies actually cower and I just haven't noticed it, or does it enhance how long they spend running away?

    pvp server

Making current zones PvP enabled and accessible to both sides would probably require some significant time and effort, not to mention that I don't expect to ever see a shift toward having official servers for anything at this point. I wouldn't hold my breath.

Blasters are the Wizards of other MMO's and in other MMO's I dont see too many getting into melee as a desired effect. All be it, at low levels it sometimes comes in handy and perhaps getting 1 melee attack might be good for IO sets or whatever but 4-5 attacks? They are very useful if ya intend to get all your debt badges by lvl 30.
Or if you intend to mezz and then CRUSH THE SKULLS OF anybody who tries pulling melee on you. Seriously, my /energy and /elec blappers have ridiculous survivability. If it can be knocked back or stunned, it is not winning a close combat fight with me without backup. Period.
  7. And some of the repetitive content is really, really, really, really dumb. Let's take a look at Maggie Greene. Her arc is 'The Mind of a King', the one where you look for the Clockwork power source only to figure out that they're directly powered psionically by the Clockwork King.

After finishing it, the next mission I got was... Recover the Clockwork power source.

Or how about Jenny Firkins? She has Not one, not two, but three standalone missions that are little more than 'save people from the Devouring Earth.' Not to mention that some of these missions are shared by other contacts from different origins, so it's possible to do some of them several times. Sure, I guess that the Devouring Earth probably do take people hostage, but it seems like really lazy writing to throw out that many missions that are essentially identical.
  8. I've always wanted the option to get some of the chest patterns from in game on t-shirts. About 2/3 of my characters use either the raised fist or the crown ones, so I can see myself shelling out for shirts of them.

    </tangent>
  9. It is vital to whip out Rikti Drones and Rikti Rifle while fighting the final room of the LGTF. Also, Vial of Bees and Creeper Seed versus Hamidon.

How scandalous, somebody said they're sexy! Obviously such depraved talk can only be said in between sessions with a goat, jumper cables, and chunky peanut butter.
  11. I usually get mine after I have what I consider the bare minimums (Stamina, a ST attack chain, at least one AoE, and my basic armors plus mezz protection on scrappers/brutes/tanks, for example). If I get most of these to my satisfaction early, I'll pick up travel early. Otherwise, it usually waits until the early to mid 20s. I've played several villains to the mid 30s without one, but I give it a bit more priority heroside, since there's usually more travel.

Won't anything with -range do it? I seem to recall being in two Hurricanes from Tsoo Sorcerors at once and having a teleport range that was about 1 foot. Not that -range is that common... always wondered why it's not a more common debuff.

I've got one in my Dom's Fire Breath, though she has the whole Ragnarok set, too. It's fun in there. Looks like she breathes out fire so fast that it knocks people on their butts. It's also very nice for giving me some mitigation against anybody who gets missed in the initial stalagmites barrage.

    Dream Duo

I still think that two sonic/ defenders will be really strong paired (both running into melee with Disruption Field on the other). Never quite decided what secondary would be best. I'd like one without many cones, since the fields make staying in melee range make sense. Currently doing a sonic/rad and sonic/elec. It seems to me that twin sonic/sonics would probably get some of the highest ST damage a duo could crank out, but who cares about that when you can mulch things in AoE?

  17. Only really been successful in static duos. Anything past that falls victim to the problems listed above by most of the others.

One thing I'd add: If anybody in the group has a highly variable schedule, like people with jobs where the hours change every week, that's basically an instant monkey wrench in your plans--at the very least, everybody else's playtimes will be based around when that single person can be on. If there are more than one, forget it. I don't think I've ever seen it really work out that well.

I'm an altoholic and had a schedule like that for years, so I don't know how anybody ever put up with me. When it wasn't 'sorry, I have to work the next four nights...' it was 'these guys are pretty neat, but what I really think would be fun to play is...'

Minion 1: OMG, <player name here> is the worst MM ever! He doesn't have half the features of some of the newer MMs, and he has to wait 32 whole levels to get his second upgrade! I hear that this new MM is getting rolled who plans to name his pets, which is a feature we've never gotten out of this one, and he also doesn't plan to turn on bodyguard mode, so we won't get hurt there like we do with this jerk. You guys can stay if you want, but I know where my $15/month Henchmen Union dues are going from now on.

I think this makes sense because if you ONLY had Going Rogue, how are you gonna switch sides? So I think it's fair to call GR the "first expansion" because it's the first time you've needed the original game.
I can't read about half of the press releases and stuff, since I'm at work... has it actually been confirmed that you need CoH for it? It seems to me that if they're trying to expand subscription numbers with it, doing a mostly standalone game at first like CoV was would be the way to go.

Sorta depends. In my experience, Bots/ goes from 'meh, you mean that's all they do?' in the first 25 levels of the game, then rapidly transitions up into 'WHOA THOSE ARE COOL' by 32.

Somebody fails at research. Unless they're not counting CoV since it was a standalone game/expansion for some odd reason.

Same here. I've gotten multiple purples back-to-back within a few minutes, but never rolled anything worth anything. I've rolled dozens of times, and I think my highest roll was worth about 20 million crafted. Other than those, though, I am the Trap of the Hunter King.
