If you've put yourself on Not Accepting the previous time you were playing, it'll still be set that way, even though the team options list shows you as Not Seeking. Just open the team list and select Not Seeking (or whatever you prefer) and that'll fix the toggle. This also occurs if you change characters from one that is set to Not Accepting.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It would be a good idea for the OP to check this, but in my case it wasn't just a Team setting set to "not accepting" as Tells were being sent back as well indicating I was hidden.

for your chat tab right click and hit edit, this should bring a pop up menu with everything that is in the chat box. What you are currently missing is NPC chat. The pop up menu has a right side of all the different chats and the left side is what is in your chat. So just click NPC chat from the right and click add.

    [/ QUOTE ]

There is Cutscene Caption chat channel as well that should be added.
  3. It was happening to me when I switched between sides [Villain/Hero] way back when the new hide menu was introduced.
Even though the window was showing me as unhidden in all categories, typing /hideall followed by /unhideall would clear the issue, and then I could set the hide options to what I wanted after that with no problems.

I believe it was the settings 'sticking' when changing sides from a character that had /hideall to the other side where the character had different settings. I never got to confirm that though, but the workaround always worked.

    Simple explanation: Devs hate villains.

Difficult Explanation: Villains don't get the aggravation of having to travel from zone to zone for the majority of their contact's missions. They mostly stay in the same zone as said contact. Plus, with RIP (Rogue Isle Police), Longbow, and minor villain groups attacking player villains on sight, that makes each villain zone sort of like hazard zones themselves.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I started playing on Villain side and only recently made a couple of Heroes. I don't like the Hero side layout. It doesn't make sense. Start in a zone, travel two zones away for a mission, go meet a contact there, do a mission there, then go back to the original zone only to go back two zones away again... Friggin PITA.

And Perez Park is anything but soloable. I find that zone simply pointless.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Amen.

I mainly play Villain side for two reasons, it seems more soloable and there is considerably less needless travel.

I always found it funny in CoH how you had these street level contacts that were always sending you out of their neighborhoods.

This is one reason why, before AE, it seemed like everyone was just running radio missions instead of the arcs.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Strangely enough I enjoy the feeling you get Hero-side that you are defending the entire city. That you say, at level 41 get a Malta mission in Atlas Park, and you head back there thinking "these low level characters have no idea the Malta are here." Along the way you'd catch funny chat, or help out with a newb question, or an ambush or GM. It gives a sense of community.

Plus, as I was leveling up there would groups of higher level characters and ambushes in Steel Canyon and Kings Row etc. and I'd think, "That's cool. I can't wait to get those powers, or fight against that villain group."

I understand the reason they designed Villains with less travel time (to cater to the 'instant' I want to get there nao people, who have found heaven in the 'just stand and click' AE building), but it has a shoebox feel and lacks the overall story flow from zone to zone and each group relating to the next up the line (like Skulls-Trolls-Family). The overall story pieces get picked up a bit when you hit Grandville but by then you've forgotten about Snakes in Mercy, and the details of Dr. Aeon/Echo.

I still play both sides alot, but those are the differences I perceive and how I feel when I play each side.
  5. The mission to unlock the Natural store contact in Founders contains Nemesis as well, but I think it's only available up to level 40 ( I have used it at level 40 for the costume mission).
Radio missions would be an option as well.
  6. The mission that unlocks the Science Store contact in Brickstown contains Rikti, if you prefer a non-hazard zone / instanced alternative.

So, I was playing around in Warburg this weekend trying to earn some nukes, and I got to wondering about the background on this zone - Where is it? Why is it populated by "rogue" Arachnos personel? What's the deal with that missle anyway?

I went to the wiki page on Warburg, but it doesn't give any background, it just talks about the missions. Did I overlook some ingame information? I have to admit, I didn't read any of the introductory dialogue, so maybe it's my fault, but is there anywhere I can read more about this zone?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I dug this up at the EU site on PvP in Warburg (it may be the text from the Liason introduction since it seems familiar to me from in-game):

Warburg was home to a Council base during the world’s long Cold War. Missile silos were erected, secret weapons were developed in deep underground bunkers, and spies lived in the cold grey towers that dot the island’s surface.

The Council was “forcibly evicted” in the late 1960s by Lord Recluse and their facilities taken over by Arachnos. Scientists and eventually a support economy of civilian workers rose on the surface and slowly began to build homes and businesses.

The underground labs the Council left behind were rechristened “the Web,” and most of the old missiles destroyed. One large rocket-firing platform at the centre of the island remained, but even it was hidden by the false façade of a building.

    Until recently.

Marshal Jason Blitz believed Lord Recluse wasn’t acting fast enough in his bid to take over the world. He found it tragic that the Web had developed so many incredible weapons and none of them were being used on the hated heroes!

When Blitz learned he was dying of cancer, he decided to speed things up a bit so that he could live to see the defeat of Paragon City. He murdered Governor Melody Harkness and took over the city with a cadre of troops loyal to him. Soon after, he demolished the false façade on the Warburg Rocket at the centre of his city and started firing warheads armed with various toxins on Paragon City.

Lord Recluse promised the UN he would rectify the situation, but his troops have so far been stalemated by their rivals. (Or so Recluse claims.)

Since the Warburg Weapons are being used on American soil, Longbow has taken it upon themselves - with presidential approval - to “intervene” in the Rogue Isles and take down Marshal Blitz. They’ve asked for help from Paragon City’s numerous heroes, and they’ve begun arriving in force. Recluse has sent minimal troops to the area to stop Blitz, but has instead asked for help from the numerous super-powered “villains” who dwell on his isles. Most believe Recluse is not only content to let Blitz wreak havoc on Paragon City, but is interested in seeing which villains prove themselves in this Darwinian game of survival.

I figured that might be the case, but I ahd to ask regardless.

*Sigh* Guess I better haul it to reach lv 20 so i can actually GET a second costume slot. Thanks for the help!

Note that you can get another costume slot by obtaining a set of Halloween Event Salvage, even before level 20, if you can beg/ borrow/ buy some off the market.

    new Jetpack

    [ QUOTE ]
The other day I was in the AE building, and a player was flying around with a jetpack that was not the Raptor Pack which u get from doing bank mishes. I asked in a tell what it was nad where he got it, but he never replied, is there an invention or something you can get that gives u a different Jet Pack? The one he was using looked like it was actually part of his armor, or a backpack, and it had 2 jets on the bottom, but no wings like the Raptor pack does.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Was it an LKT-1700? That's from the Game Card (already linked to above).
  12. Specifically, yes the Ghostslayer weapons scale and are usable until you use up all the charges (I still have them on my level 50). Also, if you chose Black Scorpion as a patron you will obtain more, and you can Flashback and get more *IF* you have used up any existing ones. Newly obtained ones won't overwrite or recharge previous ones.

A good resource, as always, is the Wiki:
    Temporary Powers

    Edited for clarity.
  13. I originally had similar thoughts when my first character hit 50 (and at the time there was very little content left to play) so I figured I wouldn't play it much and went off to play other alt's.
Then came all the additional content like Rikti War Zone, Radio missions, and the big one: Ouroboros. So I found myself playing it more often, and when the invention system came out I could actually enhance the character further giving me a goal other than leveling and completing stories.
I still have many alts, but I still look to enhancing my 50's as I go.

  16. Sounds good. I'll see if I can track down one of my characters with a grenade/tear gas day job power and test it as well.
    Yay for QoL improvements!
  17. So, right on time I received an invention token even after logging in 3 times within the last 24 hour period, so either I have the very lucky circumstance of a bug awarding it to me only when I log in this time of day, or they have changed it so that the amount of time is kept track of as per the other day jobs, and consecutive hours for 'charge' powers is no longer necessary.
I'll keep an eye on it to see if any more coupons are awarded when logging in, just in case this was a lucky 'bug' awarding it.

IIRC it is a sync issue when the server shards you are zoning between have different local times. (was it Ghost Falcon that announced it when they figured it out?)
Anyway, when it happens it's worth doing a /localtime for the shards (zones) affected and if it is different on both sides, then include it in a /petition.
(A /bug would go to the Devs and a server time discrepancy wouldn't be adjusted quickly.)

    [/ QUOTE ]

/localtime is the time reported by your own computer's clock. If that is changing dramatically, then you've got more issues than just toggle dropping.

  21. Just logged in with the character; no coupon earned, and the count of time logged off should be reset if time accrued is dropped for 'powers with charges.

I understand what you are saying Lavitae. I'm just interested in testing it as there seems to be some disagreement, and if there is a bug, it gives more data to finding it. I do understand about the accelerated rate for having advanced badges, so by logging in before the 'earlier' awarding I shouldn't get anything at all.

As I see it, the time logged off is calculated to the second [at log-in] and then added to badges/accolades not yet earned and this amount is saved.
The time logged off is also used to calculate the additional time added to earned powers and this amount is saved.
To me it seems odd that during that process they would chose to use a separate routine [or drop all earned progress] for one set of day job powers. It is possible that it is a limitation of the code, or a non-intended effect of design.

One possibility is that the calculations for the 'charge' powers save the number of charges as an integer (dropping all decimals in the process), rather than saving the time accrued which would explain the behaviour of needing the time to be consecutive. If this is the case it would be nice if the time accrued was stored, like the other powers, and the truncated integer was passed to the power as number of charges.

    Anyway, I'm curious.
  22. [ QUOTE ]
As was previously noted, it takes 24 consecutive hours to get a charge or ticket for a day job.

If you have the appropriate badge, the powers charge 20% faster - You get 20% more for powers with a duration, or get a single charge/ticket in just under 20 hours.

There is a bug which occasionally shows up that makes you earn a bubble of Patrol XP while zoning (which can include "zoning in" when logging in). From Katze's post, it sounds like this bug can increase Day Job Power progress too, if it happens in the right place.

Expect one ticket per 24 consecutive hours logged off. If you get more, consider it a bonus.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm going to test this. I logged in the character just now; no tickets. If it does rely on "consecutive" hours I've just reset the time, so I shouldn't get anything before this time tomorrow. If I get a ticket around the time of my previous post, then it would appear to be keeping track of total time logged off, or be a pretty precise 'bug'.
