  1. Ok I joined some channels specific to my server. I don't get the posts on some of the characters but I do on others. It's driving me bonkers. I want to get the information. Anyone know why I am not getting the posting? One of the channels gets posted on all the time.

    thanks
    Kara

    Enhancement info

You know how when you hover your mouse over a power/enhancement, you get lots of info, when you are looking at your enhancements. Well, when I hover over them on one of my characters no window pops up to tell me anything. I just respeced and can't finish slotting my toon without knowing which enhancements I've already placed. Please help!

    Thanks
    Kara
  3. My computer has been randomly locking up hardcore. I also got a blue screen of death today . AVG says everything is fine in that dept. Sometimes I hear a little thud as it locks up. Twice there was a high pitched squeal. Here is the stuff from cohhelper.

  4. The dude at vidiotmaps says my random crashing while playing coh has nothing to do with vidiotmaps.

I've ran an AVG full scan and I come up clean. I took the cover off the box in case of overheating, but I crashed again tonight.
  5. I know CoH doesn't put out vidiotmaps, but I am asking here because this forum is a bit more populated and you all are wicked smart ;-)

I decided to update vidiotmaps today so I could have the praetorian map overlays. Since then, while on the game my computer has locked up 3 or 4 times. Once was in an AE mission (everyone was standing around), once while logging off and the other while trying to load the game. When it happens I hear a little thud and then the screen freezes and the keyboard and mouse shut down. They are both usb.

  6. it happened to me in a mish. I'm guessing this is nvidia's fault.
  7. ah thread jack is a better term then hijack.

I've been keeping my task manager open the last 2 days and have noticed it spikes a lot overall. It definitely spikes when I play games of facebook.

I updated my sound card drivers. I have a sound blaster 5.1 external (I hate it). I'm going to try getting some more RAM.
  8. I loved that video! I remember getting runners in AP and the Hollows too.
  9. Yeah I am on XP. I wouldn't mind loading quicker, but I have a fairly decent load time. It's gotten a little longer with GR though.

Is there anything I can do to my system to help my lag. I really don't want to quit playing.
  10. Would upgrading RAM help? I see that for Ultra Mode they recommend 4gig. I only have 2. I don't really have any money to play with though.
  11. Well I did that and logged on to my lvl 50 blaster/hero. I flew around here and there and was doing great until I got attacked by a herd of monkeys on Monkey Island in PI LOL.

I do have digital voice, but I dont think I can pull a battery out of my modem. There is some button I can press and hold for a while though.

This sucks. I can't play like this. Before GR I didn't lag. I got some during Rikti raids, but I don't think that was this bad.
  12. I'll try that. Comcast did say I would need to do that from time to time.

  14. I read your post yesterday. While playing I noticed that no one had any sort of title. All I saw was a players name.
  15. Ok this is in a mish villian side pinnacle

  16. I'll give that a try. It happens in mission too. This toon is on Protector and this morning there is one one light on the server.
  17. great I just downloaded 258.96. I hope it won't cause me probs. Just in case, how do I roll back?
  18. here is a pic of the graph. Sorry it is huge. I can never remember how to resize

  19. the lag is intermittent. I updated my drivers after that post and that change makes no difference. With the netgraph code I have a nice beautiful lawn when it isn't lagging. Then after a few minutes the lag hits and the lawn grows. It's green but more like a long fat rectanlge. No yellow spikes. the ping, send, and recv moves slower too
  20. Sometimes ppl need to use a scroll bar when making a toon to see all their choices....
  21. If I can play normal again I'll love you all forever!!! I blew out all the computers dust yesterday and it didn't change the lag issue. The temp does go up a little when I have lag. I bought a fan to throw in there, but I am not sure I can install it. It has to plug in somewhere. Maybe it isn't compatible with my system? Says its for a vga card. My graphics card is pci-express.

Was going to say that i've never had that issue myself, but then i remembered that i normally run Vent through my headset and CoX through the speakers, so i haven't had to deal with that issue.
Can you do that with XP? Can other ppl on vent hear your game? I think it is bad manners to have to listen to more then one PCs game sounds. I usually keep my game at 0% volume so not to be rude.

How do I do that? I have my settings at recommended I think. I have labeled the settings as ghetto, slightly better then ghetto, good enough. I keep mine at good enough.
  24. Thank you so much! You guys rock!! I'm off to buy a couple cans of compressed air (One for the computer and one to "play" with). I can't blow it up or anything right?

Last night when I played in Praetoria, I kept the the cover off. Sure enough when I was lagging the air in the pc was warmer.

Recently, my power supply died and a friend swapped it out for one she had laying around. Naturally, whatever identifying information that might be printed on the thing is on the side I can't see. Could that be causing my over heating problem?

I don't think I have an intake fan. There is a door on the front. I don't know what it is for. This pc wasn't built for gaming. I got it from a friend who had closed his computer business. I had to replace the video card when I got this machine. All I could afford at the time was an nvida geforce fx 5500

  25. I accidentally killed myself with self-destruct in the tutorial. I forgot I had that power. I've never actually slotted it before.
