Probs with vidiotmaps

I know CoH doesn't put out vidiotmaps, but I am asking here because this forum is a bit more populated and you all are wicked smart ;-)

I decided to update vidiotmaps today so I could have the praetorian map overlays. Since then, while on the game my computer has locked up 3 or 4 times. Once was in an AE mission (everyone was standing around), once while logging off and the other while trying to load the game. When it happens I hear a little thud and then the screen freezes and the keyboard and mouse shut down. They are both usb.

The dude at vidiotmaps says my random crashing while playing coh has nothing to do with vidiotmaps.

I've ran an AVG full scan and I come up clean. I took the cover off the box in case of overheating, but I crashed again tonight.

Definitely not related to vidiotmaps overlay. Anti-Virus up to date? Drivers?

Vidiotmaps only puts bitmaps into a folder structure that the game was already programmed to look at and if something is there, use it. Vidiotmaps doesn't change any game code or replace any game assets.

From your description, I doubt this is the case, but do you happen to have
firefox(or another browser maybe) open, and on the vidiotmaps site while
you play?

Something on their site does not get along with my firefox install while
playing CoX, and will first disable FF's ability to display images, and
then crash the game at some point soon after this is noticed. No
other website has ever caused this behavior for me, so seeing "crashes"
+ "vidiotmaps" prompts me to check for this factor in your own troubles.

I have the latest vidiotmaps, and have no probs whatsoever. I tend to agree with the other posters....you might want to try an experiment: remove vm all together, and run your game. I have a sneaky feeling that you will still experience the DCs and crashes. Then, do a fresh reinstall of the latest vm and try the suggestions here to solve your problems. (I have an older HP Pavillion putersaurus, WinXP/Service Pack3, agp Nvidia 7900GS video card.) Good luck, and don't give up...you will fix it if you hang in there!
