Quote:That section right there is why I don't use /bindloadfile for things like that. Way too easy for the files to get out of sync, and the only way to try and avoid it is pressing the button slowly, which negates the speed of only one key press. Hitting F, the hitting shift+F takes a split second, and I don't need to think about it.Make sure to push and release the key somewhat slowly, so that the bind doesn't hiccup. The powexecs and bindload happen at the same time so if you press it too fast, it might skip one or the other, which screws up the order. A good idea to create a reset key to start it all over again - something to either turn everything off and load up sprint-on, the beginning of the loop:
-
This is how I have my binds set up. As you found out, you can't turn on 2 powers at once, but you can turn off as many as you want. So I use separate key presses.
This is what I use for a character with just Ninja Run for travel:
Quote:This gives me finer control, and only takes a split second to do. I use the F key for travel powers on all of my characters, so it is easy to remember and use. And I don't even need to keep the powers in my trays, which is really nice as I get more and more powers.F "powexecname Ninja Run"
SHIFT+F "powexecname Sprint"
lalt+F "powexectoggleoff Sprint$$powexectoggleoff Ninja Run"
There is one thing you can try to get both on at once, but I am not sure it will work.
<key> "powexecname Sprint$$powexectoggleon Ninja Run"
That may turn them both on, although I don't think so. And it can only turn off Sprint, since the Ninja Run command is only for turning on. And if Sprint is already on, it would turn it off as Ninja Run was turned on. -
Quote:The only thing I can think of to do is change the order. In most things, the game reads stringed commands in reverse order. So that first one is having it start the costume change, then run the power. And put the speaking in between to give a bit more time for the power to start animating."emote none$$local Blah blah blah$$powexec_name Blackstar$$cc 3"
THEN I tried combining it with a costume change emote:
"emote none$$local Blah blah blah$$powexec_name Blackstar$$cce 3 ccEnergyMorph"
"cc 3$$local blah blah$$powexecname Blackstar"
That is all I know to try, I just use the costume change emotes, they are reliable. -
I don't look at it as staying away from the newbies, I look at it as 12 more slots! Since at this moment the only servers I don't have characters on are the EU ones (Would it be rude to create some on the German or French servers when my only practical language is English?) I only barely consider Virtue to be my "home" server. And only because it has my main on it. I won't be transferring any characters, but I don't see any need to forgo using the VIP server just because some people can't use it. That leads to me not using Signature arcs or Tier 9 VIP Rewards for the same reason.

Specifically, from the way the first victim referred to the snake that actually did the killing in the story. Got a hard one?
As for my names, I have a fondness for Lightning Red, Elec/Elec scrapper. It is a reference to her hair color/nickname before powers, her powers, and a pun. What's not to like.
Chilly Death, Ice/Ice blaster I couldn't play for a couple of years because his name sucked so badly. One the two name tokens I have purchased, to give him is much better name. Now I rotate him in more often and he is finally gaining levels. I still haven't gotten around to creating his counterpart, a fire/fire blaster named Chili Death.
Ipilya's Voice, Sonic/Sonic corrupter, a genetic experiment that escaped from Crey and was attacked by heroes as a monster since she was unable to speak at the time, attacking with sound every time she opened her mouth. Her lizard-like skin and sound attacks lead to taking her name from an Australian Aboriginal deity, who is a lizard that creates thunderstorms and roars very loudly. He is sort of ambiguous, since thunderstorms can be good or bad, and so is she. When she hits 20, she will be switching alignments to something less villainy.
Field Theory, Grav/Kin controller, a physicist who gained the ability to control gravity and other nuclear forces, now she is in the field, using those forces to fight crime. The Time Manipulation powerset strongly urges me to recreate her, OTOH, there are more servers with slots to fill. -
Quote:This. Why would I transfer away from my current homes, when I can just fill the new one with more occupants?Probably one, and then you can purchase as many others as you want. I don't think that many people will be transferring characters there, but may make a handful of new characters there.
-
This is bad, very bad. I need a better computer!
-
You and me both. Justice Blues, Inv/SS/Ice Tank. Although I do have a T1 in his Alpha. And I am sure I will eventually run some trials.
-
Well, if he pays he will get GR, but if he picks it up on sale before hand, he will also have a couple of extra slots he can unlock if he doesn't subscribe. They just had a $10.00 sale on Steam, I would bet they will have more before Freedom hits.
-
Dude, I hope you are in comics, because the scenarios you just came up with sound so much better than several of the DCnU series that are starting up.
-
Yeah. Johns wrote them and made them big a few years ago, now he is throwing them out. Wonder if we will start getting Earth 2 stories in a year or so?
-
Quote:According to the DC people, no, this is New Earth, the prototype for the other 51 Earths in the Multiverse. So somehow, in the 5 years, they have also had a Year Without the Trinity, so that Booster and Rip could fight Mr. Mind and create the multiverse by accident.I've been reading comics for 20+ years and instead of getting pissed about this author forgetting what this other one did 30 years ago, or on the previous run a month ago, I just treat it as "it happened on Earth 2" and think of all the stories as separate.
As someone else mentioned, this DCnU thing is most likely on an Earth somewhere in the multi-verse and the DCU Earth we've been reading since post Crisis still exists elsewhere. -
Quote:I broke down and bought a portable HD for my photos, and now have 84 gigs free. And have done many file verifications for the game. No joy there. You only have 11% of your hard drive space free. Try to free up some space and defragment afterwards. Also, a scandisk never hurts to check your hard drive for errors.
After that, I would perform a file verification on CoH. I don't remember how to do it with the new launcher.
Quote:Agreed. You really have to free up disk space and defrag. Since you have very little ram (at least for this game) that page file is going to see heavy use while playing. And that file is at about 1/4 of your current free space. If the drive hasn't been defragmented in a while then the disk is seeking all over the place in an attempt to find free page space. You should also look into getting more ram if possible but unless you are going to switch to a 64 bit operating system there is no sense in going beyond 3 gigs.
Also if I am remembering correctly there are some recent ATI drivers that conflict with CoH. Being an Nvidia user myself I'm not sure which drivers they are but you might search the forums and see if you can track it down.
There is nothing bad in your Hijackthis but you should probably look through and disable any running programs that you never or rarely use. More free ram means less usage of the page file and also quicker loading times.
According to the System Requirements Lab, I am well over everything for the Recommended level for Going Rogue, and I don't believe the updates since then have added that much to the game, since I am not trying for the higher end graphics. Looking at the Optimal requirements, the only things I am missing are the ability to get 4 gigs of RAM and my graphics card doesn't have version 3.0 of Pixel or Vertex Shaders. I can even could upgrade the video I guess, but that runs into the same thing as the extra gig of RAM. The rest of the system is obsolete and I am saving to replace it. Spending $50 to get better graphics just puts that off and shouldn't be necessary for playing with the low end graphics in the game, especially when I exceed the minimum specs in everything else.
I normally have everything off when running COH except HeroStats and maybe Firefox. I try to keep as much RAM free as possible. And I have tried it without anything by COH and that didn't work either.
It does look like a conflict with a setting and one of my drivers, but I have no clue as to which one.
Well, I had the 9.11 Legacy Drivers in until just before I posted this. I have been in contact with tech support and they said try an upgrade to solve the problem. It didn't solve the problem, I was hoping someone here had another idea. It is apparently something with the video drivers and one of my settings, but do far I can't find out what. -

Since I19 went live (I was able to run I19 during the beta test) the game started freezing when I tried to run it. It gets to about 77,000k of memory usage, and grabs from 95-99% of my CPU, and just stays there until I shut it down. I can get on using Safe Mode, but that isn't the best way to play. My display drivers are as up to date as they can get, and I have all the updates to XP.
Any help figuring out the problem would be appreciated. Here is the CoHHelper information.

You are not alone. I could get into the Closed Beta okay, but I can not get on live. It just sits at the loading bar.

Quote:Just wanted to point out that by definition all meteors have entered Earth's atmosphere. Meteorites have reached Earth's surface. (Meteoroids are the hunks of rock and such before they enter the atmosphere.)even though they're incorrectly called meteors in game, meteorites are meteors that have entered the Earth's atmosphere
Wanted to say, I am enjoying your reviews of these arcs. I didn't get any inspiration until a day or so before the contest ended and couldn't get it to work. (The story overall or one mission in particular.) But there are some nice results that did get done.
-
Quote:You should try it with a character that is small. My main was created in the first week of the game and I used the smallest size possible. He would be easy to overlook, except he is an Inv/SS tank and Knockout Blow lands in some very painful places when he is fighting the huge bad guys.Amen. Same here... made a male character and figured I'd go slightly shorter than the real life average. You know, the stocky bulldog look. Instead, at 5'6", I look like a friggin' dwarf running around the city. Civilians tower over me and the guys in Council are over 7' tall!
-
Wait. You refuse to use a useful feature of the game, because it does not do exactly what you want it to do? I have a lot of respect for you Bill, but that is really silly.
-
I have 6 versions of Justice Blues at the moment, one a villain, one with a different name (Actually, that last one is the very first character I created, but the group I was playing with decided to go to Virtue and he was left behind. But the bio and backstory were all created for him originally.) All of them have the same motivations (even the villain) but they all have different ways of expressing it. He is an armor wearer (tech origin), so the different powersets are easy to explain, except for the one that was caught in an explosion and gained his WP/SS powers that way (science origin). And the villain used his genius to create his robot minions and traps.
I have another character (JB's sister) that exists on different servers, but the names are all different along with the powers, since sometimes she dies in the first Rikti invasion, sometimes she doesn't, etc.
Part of the fun of the characters is taking the same basic happenings and changing one or two things to see how they play differently. When Going Rogue hits, I am looking forward to fitting my two character stories onto that alternate dimension and seeing how they play out. And the villain JB may find out that his little sister got better after the Rikti killed her and is now a hero in Paragon, so he will work his way around to joining her side. Or maybe not. -
An important thing to remember, boss encounters can have the same problem, but they are entirely separate from the glowie encounters. So a map could have both spawn correctly, the glowies backwards and the bosses correct, the bosses backwards and the glowies correct, or both of the them backwards. This means if your story really needs the players to encounter particular things in the correct order, don't use random maps. Find a map that works for the story, test it to find out how stuff spawns, and stick to using only that for that mission.

I keep all of my travel powers on my f key. For Flying, I use this:
Code:I change the Fly and Hover to Super Jump and Combat Jumping for that travel power, and just have Superspeed with Sprint for that one, since Hasten or Flurry don't really work for travel.f "powexectoggleoff Sprint$$powexecname Fly$$powexecname Hover" lshift+f "powexecname Sprint" lctrl+f "powexectoggleoff Zero-G Pack$$powexectoggleoff Raptor Pack" lalt+f "powexectoggleoff Hover$$powexectoggleoff Fly"
ctrl+f always turns off the temp travel powers, and I add in the Goldbricker pack for my villains, while alt+f always turns off all travel powers completely. So for all my characters except teleporters, all my travel powers work exactly the same way, making it easier to switch back and forth. -
The only "power pool" available is flight. No SJ, TP or anything else. (They really don't need anything else, especially Fitness or Fighting.)
Look at it in the group editor, when you select a mob, if it has more than one skin, there is usually an arrow beside the picture that allows you to scroll through the variants. (This is true on most bosses with multiple looks anyway, not sure about minions.)
Nope. All male. Some folks have done some fun AE missions dealing with female Hellions and such though. -
I could swear I just read this somewhere else recently.
