Supergirl would be good, as she would have the :name brand" factor to keep the series alive. IMO it's one of the reason SV has survived even when it's put out a couple of poor seasons in a row. Not sure Blue Beetle would have the kind of recognition needed to pull in the numbers to pay for an effects heavy show.

Talent in one area doesn't always translate into talent in other areas. Even when the areas are similar such as comics, novels and screenwriting. Stephen King, for example, writes horrible screenplays, though when others take his work and translate it, it can turn out quite well.
Anyhow, the only Daredevil move I want to see is one where he fights the Punisher. -
Quote:Yeah, you're going to look cool faceplanting because you're standing there doing Jazz hands, unable to move or activate your self heals for 2-3 seconds. All you PvPers get ready to see an epik Kinetic Melee/Regen Scrapper in RV on Justice >
My prediction is that this set'll go over as well as DP...popular at first, flashy looking, but ultimately at the bottom of the barrel for effectiveness.
Still, if electric control is good, they'll be 50/50 on power sets for the expansion. -
Hopefully the effects aren't finished, because the hammer could use some work.

Quote:I'm sure after 10 years as Clark Kent and a failed movie or two, he realized that this is the best gig he's ever going to have. My guess is he squeezed them for whatever $$ he could get to put on the suit, because he's always going to be "that guy who played Superman" anyhow.Ummmm dont I recall seeing interviews with Welling early on in the series that he was opposed to ever wearing the blue suit, and totally didnt want to by type cast by doing the movies? And now he is saying he always wanted to it just wasnt that easy? Really? Why not did he forget how to sign his name on a contract?

My first thought was that he needs some ex-lax, STAT!

If you were going to do individual ones, it would be more amusing if you individualized the saying...like if you had a faceplanted Neo, then a copy of WoW's resurrection prompt saying "The Matrix wants to resurrect you. Accept/Accept", instead of Accept/Decline. Or have Buffy down with the prompt saying "UPN wants to resurrect you. Accept/Oh God, not Season 6, where's my $&%^ing agent!"
Given the other things I've seen on the site, they seem pretty confident that their stuff falls under parody use, so I don't see them not accepting it. -
Quote:Are you shopping for a new car? Because otherwise I'm not sure how you would know about the dealership offering that, since businesses only target ads at people that are already looking to buy.By advertising that people will get something from this store that they can't get if they buy it form another store. Businesses do it all the time in commercials. Only difference here is that it's done on the internet instead of TV.
Buy any new 2011 Ford car from our dealership and get free state inspections and replacement tires for the entire time you own the vehicle. (Yes a local dealership where I live is offering the tire thing)
Besides just who do you think advertising is directed at other than the people that might be interested in buying the product. Who do you think will buy more copies of GR. The people that go to Gamestop or some random group like the Amish.
The whole point of advertising is to target you customer base. That's why kosher foods are targeted mainly at Jewish people, feminine hy-gene products are targeted at women. AARP insurance targets Senior citizens.
This is a very common and effective advertising technique.
Meh, it's pointless actually trying to have a discussion here anyhow. People just take it as an attack on the game and spend time trying to defend the status quo than talk about actual way to improve things. -
Quote:Giving bonuses with a preorder is great for people that are thinking of buying the game and looking at it. The issue is how do you get more people to look at it in the first place?Doing things that draw particular attention to the product . . . just like this.
Anywhere else you buy Going Rogue all you get is the exact same thing everyone else will get when they buy it regardless if it's from the NCStore, Walmart, Best Buy.
BUT ONLY THE PEOPLE WHO BUY FROM GAMESTOP WILL GET THESE EXCLUSIVE ITEMS ON TOP OF EVERYTHING ELSE THAT COMES WITH BUYING GOING ROGUE.
5 EXCLUSIVE POWER ENHANCEMENTS
A RAZER COH GR DESKTOP SKIN
A $5. DOLLAR COUPON FOR THE RAZER STORE
Well what do you know. that's the very definition of advertising you claim a company should be using.
Now no one is arguing that they couldn't be doing more, but they have started doing something. -
Quote:Just to be clear, I'm not proposing server merges, I think the idea is pointless. But I do think that they could do a lot better job of bringing players to the the game.advertising was covered in this thread:
http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=228352
if there weren't enough people on any given server to keep it open, i'm sure NC would be closing some down. as it seems, there must be enough activity on every server to warrant keeping them open. end of discussion. -
The problem with COX's advertising is that it's all passive. You aren't going to find it at Gamestop unless you go looking for MMOs. You aren't going to find the website unless you specifically look for MMO sites. Basically, all of the "advertising" requires the user to be looking for the product in the first place.
There are other, more active forms of advertising that could hit the target audience and improve the game's population.
Or we can all sit here in denial and say that everything is perfectly fine and there is zero room for improvement on any front. -
Sorry but calling that advertising is like saying the fact that there's a can a peas on the shelf at the supermarket means the peas are being advertised. It's only advertisement by the most technical definition. Yes, they are offering their product for sale through a retail outlet, but that's it.
When people talk about advertising something, they're pretty clearly referring to doing things to draw particular attention to the product, not just handing to the retailer and saying "List this with your other MMOs for sale, kthx" -
That isn't advertising. That's a listing of the games they are selling.

Quote:Wrong. To my knowledge, July was NEVER given as any sort of official release. At HeroCon, it was stated that the target release time would be during the 2nd quarter of this year. July came about due to player speculation and websites like Amazon assigning arbitrary release dates to some products.

Stated twice in the above linked post that it will be available in July. -
Quote:I'm unclear on something. Specifically, what makes you think anyone is actually going to ever want to play AE missions again, since you spend all of your time fixing exploits and doing NOTHING to attract players.Hey everyone,
I wanted to pop in to speak about changes made to scaling enemies in the recent patch. We've disabled archvillains from scaling beneath their minimum level. Regular enemies, minions, lieutenants, bosses, etc, will still scale down beneath their minimum level. We made this change because combat scaling affects Archvillains/Hero class critters much more than other foes. This leads to strange numbers at the extreme low end, numbers that were never designed for or balanced against. Coupled with the rewards of defeating an AV, a fix was necessary.
I hope you all understand the reason why this was changed. Please feel free to let me know if anything isn't working as it should be or if anything is unclear!
Dr. Aeon
Please stop wasting your time and resources on this black hole and just remove the rewards and let it start gathering dust already. AE was an interesting idea, but is an abject failure since almost no one plays it. Time to move on. -

Quote:Problem is, the rest of this set is such utter garbage that the ONLY way they're going to sell it in significant numbers is to include a slightly OP bonus power. Very few people are going to buy this for those weak *** costume sets. That's better than [Quickness], [Lightning Reflexes], and [Mental Training], all primary/secondary powerset powers. Seems a bit extreme, especially when combined with those powersets. Granted, it doesn't have the resistance to -speed and -recharge that the above powers have, but still, it seems a bit much. Perhaps cut it in half and add *minor* resistance to those effects? Or a minor Travel buff, or at least a Run buff, so that it does more than practically nothing, but isn't more powerful than primary/secondary powers?

How about a mutant set with costume pieces that have more range than Demon/Witchblade concepts. Sorry, but the Mutant SB is by far the weakest and most uninteresting of the super boosters. At least expand the number of choices to add some variety and make it worth the money, because right now it's not worth 10 bucks.
Add some different auras, mutant hands and feet, mutant heads, etc. Right now nothing in the set, at least art-wise says "mutant" unless you want to use a definition of mutant that is so broad as to render the term meaningless. -
I'd also like to vote for Carp Melee.
Carp Melee: 3
Everything Else: 0 -
Actually they should just give the assault sets to scrappers.

"power socket extractor" sounds incredibly painful, like some kind of torture device disguised as a medical tool.
If I ever saw a "power socket extractor", I'd likely do this:
Then I'd run away.
