They can be held or confusted though. Since Mind is the only redside set with a single target confuse it's also the godmode for GM's. I mean anyone can hold them, only Mind or Illusion can make them kill all their friends first.

    Sleep question

The lack of aggro by itself is justification enough. I rolled my mind dom because I really liked telekinesis. Also the only two sets that fit my concept were mind and grav and mind just felt like it had more control options in it. I didn't know that it was the only set with non-notifiying control powers. Now I love it more. Though I am sad to hear that I won't be able to play an earth dom in the same way. Then again earth has it's share of alpha protection to make up for the lack of godmode vs AV/Hero/GM's.

    Sleep question

Is mass hypnosis from Mind Control the only aoe sleep that doesn't announce? The main two I'm wondering about are salt crystals and poison gas arrow. I know that the one's in Ice and plant Control announce as, obviously, does the one in sonic blast. I'm just looking for another one that I can use to stack on AV/Hero's that isn't Mass Hypnosis. I like being the godly Control AT who can put down AV's Hero's and GM's, but I don't want to only be able to do that with Mind. I would really like to know that Salt Crystals Will do this. Poison Gas Arrow I have less of an interest in, but it's still a curiosity. Also if anyone knows if the sleeps in ice armor and ice manipulation announce that'd be spiffy too.
  4. I have a mind/nrg domi and an ar/rad corr and on both toons I feel that the damage sets get in the way of my debuff/controls. This toon is designed to be a pure carebear. If the lack of personal damage will hurt a team more than the excess of control would help it, then I'll rethink the idea.

The two purple sets are picked because I alread know that they function well for the powers I slot them into and because they're relatively cheap.

I had efficacy adapter in AM originally in the concept but found I could get similar performance overall by slotting with standard IO's and got a slot back to move elsewhere.

I like hover as a combat power because it allows me to float over most spawns and drop my cones/toggles in a spot I can be reasonalby sure they will have the greatest benefit. Also being above the action means I have a better POV to abuse telekinesis from.

On my domi I find that my secondary mostly languishes unless I get the urge to go around soloing in a mish. On my corr the same happens in reverse. I'll usually save the AR attacks for larger spawns that I have already locked down and debuffed or if I end up soloing. The cones again make hover my prefered combat movement power.

I like containment and have a few other trollers that leverage it to great benefit. This character was basically an idea based around ignoring containment in favor of amassing an arsenal of mez and debuffs for team benefit. Again if my personal lack of damage will hurt a team more than all my toys help, then I'll rethink. The crux of this idea was having a build with AM and Telekinesis. I totally love telekinesis and all of the tricks I can pull off with it. Everything else was just icing on this particular matching of two powers.
  5. well I already ran a few disk utilities, hijackthis and doubled my ram and upgrades my video card (impulsive). This seems to have taken it to a reasonable level. Getting 1/8 as many market-based mapserv events.
  6. That was what I was looking for, thanks. Guess I just need to upgrade my ram again. Clicking on anything isn't an option in my situation as the window doesn't pop up until my client has already decided it's going to mapserv me.

I don't use 02 a lot, but it is VERY handy to have.

So I guess where I come down in this is that I don't mind it as much that folks don't take powers that are typically very helpful, it is when they HAVE them and NEVER USE THEM. So, to use the most famous example, if a Kin does not want to take Speed Boost, okay... get something else you WILL use, like a Leadership pool power or something. Just don't take SB and never use it, because that is, as Local said, frustrating.

I will often 02 the whole team heading into an encounter where there will likely be a Sapper or two, but that is about the only time I "buff" with 02 like that. Usually it is a la carte to unstun/unsleep/keep someone from death, as I am able. Controls and storm goodness come first... and Freezing Rain is very high on the list. It is just great.

To the OP's point: I would chime in and suggest waiting until you can re-color Freezing Rain. The debuffs are fantastic, and the baddies falling is a bonus. Just call it "Volcanic Ash" or something: you cause a shower of volcanic ash and embers to fall, causing the baddies to lose footing in the fine, slippery ash as it accumulates. You COULD skip FR, but it is so good, you really ought not to. If you cannot bear to take it, meh, it is just a game... play and enjoy.
I take stimulant over aid other on my non-buffers specifically because I almost never see people take or use they're anti-mez powers. Last night, in fact, I was on a BSF with my mind/nrg dom and split my time on the last fight between solo-mezzing the spawns and stacking stimulant on the main brute so he didn't get stunned.

    /flex
  8. wait for i16 so you can recolor freezing rain to be fire.
  9. I've been hemming and hawing over making a mind/rad for a while now and tossed this together as my intent for a final build. Looking over the individual power recharges and debuff numbers my thinking is that I won't need a res because the only people dying would be the ones who hit self destruct or the one's who forgot they had rest toggled and hit 10 breakfrees before charging into the spawn. I'm not worried about solo damage. It's more about having all of the mobs praying for death as the only thing that can release them from the horrible torments that I am layering upon them.

    Comments and criticisms welcome.

  10. If the mobs deal damage to each other equal to 50% of each other's HP and you deal the rest, you still get 70% of the xp for the kill. So it does reduce xp per kill, but more than offsets this by increasing your xp per hour. If used well with damage powers Seeds of confusion can substantially increase your xp per hour. Mass confusion less so, but still noticeably.
  11. It's useful on the Barracuda SF if you want to cover the spawns on the last fight by yourself while the rest of the team fights the Reichsmann. Then again, the number of people who regularly run that SF is pretty low. If it had a smaller radius of effect, had a controllable duration or was a single target power I could see dozens of uses for it. As it is though, that one part of that one SF is about the best there is.
  12. Is there any way to turn off the autosearch function of the market window? After a long day of running my computer with productivity applications I tend to log into CoX and check the market, which usually becomes a game of "will I mapserv this time?" After a lot of thought and asking questions to knowledgable folks I came to the conclusion that my problem was the simultaneous activation of the market interface and the auto-search taxing my system too much. I mean the people spamming pbaoe's, emotes and aoe buff toggles aren't helping, but this is the crux of the issue for me.
  13. Mind/TA or Fire/TA troller. Get you some real "Wrath of God" style debuffs. Terrify is also a clutch Angel power and fire assault is very "burn the infidels".
  14. wow, how is southern comfort not on my forum ignore list? Did they wipe those with the forum migration?
  15. i just finished leveling my new Mind/NRG and after getting all the sets in I'm considering removing stam altogether. Then I remember telekinesis. So a base 3 end per second toggle is the only thing that's making me keep stamina. This character is so nerfed.
  16. Oh no dominators have higher base damage now and gain more from external damage buffs and IO's. Pleas fix this it's terrible.

    /sarcasm off
  17. it's an amazing power when you have walls or corners to pin mobs against. check on youtube for the video it's very informative. Because of that video I'm now leveling a mind/rad and a mind/ff troller.

I have it on almost all my characters who have a Ranged AoE attack with no built-in knockdown functionality. It's fun! xD
try popping that proc into freezing rain or oil slick. It's just awesome.

  20. I'll toss in a vote for Mind/Rad troller here. Then again I'm a fan of obscene amounts of control and debuffage over actual damage.
  21. elec on a brute isn't so hot even after 33. Both the lightning rod and chain induction bolt are psuedo pet powers that have a 400% damage cap as opposed to attacks from other sets which don't limit you and allow brutes to reach they're full 850% damage cap. Solo and in small teams or farming elec is still the shiz, but for maximum aoe potential you'd be better off with SS or DB. I think DB actually edges out over SS for consistent aoe output, what with the crashless living, but SS is classic so you can't go wrong there.
  22. I get tells from AE monkeys all the time while on my fire/storm asking for a healer. I say "sure" and join the team. People stop dying and the group moves faster. I don't have 02 boost on my bar most of the time.

I automatically translate "healer" as "someone to keep us alive". All of my toons are healers in some way or another under this logic.

When I played WoW I was a healer on my mage. Tank yells "stop pulling aggro". I respond "I was healing you". Same thing here.
  23. I'd rather have device control than chains, but any new control set would be fun.
  24. Thunderous blast is also bonus awesome for being a "cheap" nuke. It doesn't kill your whole end bar if it's full when you use it. This is the only blast set nuke that does this.
  25. If either of the CP powers gave 25% of your fury bar, but didn't prevent decay and had the same recharge. I might take them. Heck if clicking them made me lose all of my remaining endurance to explode into fireworks that had no actual affect on the situation other than looking cool and being another power to customize, I might actually take them. As they are now, though, I can't think of a single reason to ever take them on any ela build. I would totally take them on a scrapper though. Double CP would be pretty nice.
