When you're paying the lawyers, you get to pick your own battles.

NCSoft is willing to pay their lawyers to defend their characters in court but is unwilling to soak the expense of being sued due to YOUR characters. Seems simple enough.

Perhaps you're not familiar with Paragon City's criminal element

Although this would explain the lack of traffic in the city...

    Tunnels have drones guarding them.

In regards to a shopping mall, I'm sure I'm in the minority but I'd hate to see it dominated with "Hero" shops. Maybe an all-purpose vendor/shop like in Cimorara or RWZ but a mall filled with over-the-counter retail shops selling bionic weapons systems, mutagens, body-altering chemicals, explosive grenades and magical scrolls seems a bit much. I'd like to see the Paragon City look more like a place where civilians live, work & shop -- I already know about its hero-supporting infrastructure.
  5. Breaking off the swinging iron gates in zones like IP and Faultline and then kicking them down the street, into the river, trying to prop them up against NPCs, etc. Nothing like Sister Psyche with a gate balanced on her head.
  6. I thought I was the only one who did Sniper Hunting. Even more fun with my AR blaster where I can play "Elite Assassin" in my mind.

I once used my 48 Earth controller to fire off Stalagmites on a group of 5th Column in Steel Canyon and they wandered back and forth in a dazed row for what felt like an impossibly long time. Naturally, once they finally came to I had to do it again. And again...

People watching in Atlas Park is relaxing sometimes. I also enjoy costume contests (even if I usually don't win) just for the social atmosphere.

Running along the monorail lines for as long as I can before I slip off.

Sometimes when I see a GM, I get the urge to fire off a snipe at it and then run like hell, giggling to myself

Even if they didn't do this, it would be nice if some office building maps (for instance) had one end of the map designated the "exterior wall" with some windows looking out. Even if the windows looked out into the generic "cityscape" you see beyond the war walls or something, it would feel more like being in a building and not just on a map.
  8. Lovin' Tally-Ho (commented more on your DA)

Now I'm gonna need more "main" characters or somethin' A full color digital of each character? Heheh... maybe once I win the lottery
  9. I kind of thought the grocery thing was a bug they'd be fixing but, if that's the case, it must not be high on the bug fixin' list.

    Costume question

Agreed, that's a pretty nice job for a robe and the closest I expect to see for a long while (if ever).
  11. Running around last night...

Try to match the window interiors with the buildings. At least kind of. In Skyway, I looked at a block of buildings were the music store had a "Take Out" sign hanging in its window, the barber shop was filled with racks of books and the book store next door had what looked like frozen food racks filling it. And there was another music store a block away with yet another "Take Out" sign in the window. I wouldn't have guesses saxophone rental/chow mein businesses were so lucrative.

And why are the lights on in zones such as the Hollows? If the idea of a hazard zone is that the authorities have been forced to give over the area to the criminal element and just try to keep them contained, why do all the lights come on at night and why are there lit neon signs in the windows. If anything, it should look all boarded up like some of the RWZ buildings.

You think zones look repetitive now? I shudder to think what they'd look like if they were all turned into glass towers. I'd much sooner see a city built out of architecture reminiscent of the Chrysler Building, the World Trade Centre or the Empire State Building than a whole city of Sears Towers.
I personally wouldn't confuse the Sears Tower for the Hancock building for the Lake Point Tower for Trump Tower for the 300 N. LaSalle Building. And that's without leaving the Windy City.

I'm not trying to be snarky but I don't think the designers have to be restricted to identical plain glass boxes if they go with a glass & steel look.

    Costume question

Afraid so. A lot of people have asked for full length robes, skirts, dresses, etc in the past but I believe the stock answer is no because too many powersets (especially martial arts) would clip horribly or just look really bad*. You may say "I don't care!" and I'd agree with you but we don't get to make these decisions

*Mobs who have robes such as Circle of Thorns members or Tsoo sorcerers were animated around their original design. Full length robes on PC models would require extensive reworkings that they're apparently not up to doing.

    Post a Character

She's lvl 48 now... I should probably get her on a Hami raid one of these days
  15. Once you're all done here, I need to locate a Fusionette costume wearable by a 6'1" male.

    what?

InfamousBrad, that description was spot-on. In fact, much of the older zones have skyscrapers and block buildings that look as though they came from a 1970's Soviet works program in Bulgaria. I never quite pinpointed it until you phrased it so well.

I live in the Chicago area and could rattle off a number of distinctive suburbs, especially in their own "downtown" areas. There's a fair number of "strip malls & subdivision" types but equally as many that look very distinctive.

Meaningless to most posters here, but I don't think many people from the area would mistake Winnetka for Aurora or Skokie for St. Charles/Geneva (although I've mistaken downtown St. Charles FOR Geneva more than once).
  18. Around level 15-20 for me. By then I know if the character has the right combination of name, concept, costume and playability to keep me interested.

When I fail to "feel" it for a character, it's usually pretty soon and I drag just to get to level 10-12 or so. Either I'm interested in the powerset but I just can't find a concept I like or vice versa and eventually I scrap and start over.
  19. Croatoa is supposed to be a suburb of Paragon City although it looks as cookie-cutter as the city proper. No single family homes, restaurants, gas stations, etc -- just block after block of apartments with a university and a monorail station.
  20. I would love some "major" municipal type buildings such as a grade/high school, library, museum, etc but I understand that unless it comes with a unique interior map, either we'll never enter the Paragon Museum of Fine Art or else (worse), it'll have Ridiculous_Office_Maze03 as the interior.

So, scaling back, how about a building labeled as an employment or welfare office? Community center? Cultural center? I suppose you don't want an explicit church but how about charitable organizations? Just stuff to make the city look lived in rather than block after block of identical office buildings, indistinct apartments and the same couple of blurry store windows.

Speaking of building interiors, can we get a few new bulletin boards and whiteboards? As much as I appreciate the notifications of for used college books in the police stations and the sales figures listed in the RWZ Vanguard base (complete with the "We care about customers..." mantra), I think they could be slightly more appropriate to the setting

Hitting Print Screen while "in game" saves a screen shot to your City of Heroes folder (under "Screenshots", naturally). Hitting Print Screen while in screens such as the costume creator, enhancements screen, etc used to put a copy onto your clipboard back in Win XP but now seems to give a black screen in Vista & Windows 7. The clipping tool referenced in the linked thread allows you to still capture these screens although I find it exceptionally flakey to use. Luckily, taking a shot of my costume is rarely so time sensitive that I can't afford to dork around with it until it works.
  22. If you pop onto 606, you can probably get someone to go red side and invite you even if there's not a villain on at the moment. Depending on how many people are on 606 at the moment, of course.

Haha... no, it was the Mists one. People would say that it kind of built up to an anticlimax since the boss was pretty weak. Not everyone said it but enough did to warrant revisiting my old arc.

Chris Jenkins is still in its original form with no plans to change it. It's actually gotten more plays in the past two weeks than in the past five months. I credit it coming back up on a couple AE Lore threads and maybe these threads in Gen Discussion (via my sig). Whatever it is, everyone keep it up!
  24. Yeah, visual distance is the biggest thing for me. I don't care how realistic the shadows look, they're not going to pull me in or out of the game as much as watching some boulder 100' away come into existence as geometric chunks as I fly towards it.
  25. You mention Euros so I don't know if you have the North American or European client. They have different servers so if you're on European, you won't see Virtue or Freedom. I don't know which is the heaviest populated European server but when you log on and see the server list, it's arranged with the last server you played on on top and then in rank of population from least (top) to most (bottom).

Technically, I think they're ranked by server load but it's as good a calculation of population as you'll get.
