This is especially hilarious if you can get the timing down just right so you can plant a trip mine and have it explode simultaneously with the time bomb. Also queue up dreadful wail so it fires immediately after the trip mine is placed (there's a fraction of a second gap before it explodes, so you should catch everyone before they go flying away, depending on server lag). It's the triple-nuke special! But at the end of the day, yea I'd agree, it's a "wanna see something cool?" trick.
  2. Minimal effects fire armor ... minimal effects ice armor ... Fear my minimal effects shield!

  3. I've always thought super-heated, but not bursting in flames, armor would be cool. So hot they melt incoming attacks and damage those who get too close; thus only objects they touch start on fire. The air would bend around the character similar to what you see when you open an oven (thermal shields already do this), and they'd leave burning footprints (the one part that is touching a solid), but otherwise they wouldn't be on fire. That would be acceptable as "minimal fx fire armor" to me.

The same could apply to ice armor. Just because an object is really cold, or perhaps made entirely of ice already, does not mean it needs to be encased in an additional several inches of ice.
  4. The vast majority of anime is based of a pre-existing Japanese comic (manga).

So, a better question would be, "Are comics ruining anime?"

  5. In my experience, the softcap isn't necessary when playing solo on x8. Inspirations drop so quickly that I can always keep one purple going, while doing a quick combine on the way to the next group if necessary. So I shoot for 32.5% and slot the rest of my powers for recharge bonuses.
  6. I play a stone/dark brute who almost never gets attacked, due to Gloom and spamming Fault. Honestly, I think the whole fury issue is blown out of proportion. Just keep attacking at a regular pace and you'll be fine.
  7. Of course, if you disable this check-in feature, Big Brother knows you are trying to hide something.
  8. I prefer the phenomenon where people think 2011 is somehow divisible by 11.

This reminds me of June 6th 2006:

"Oh noes! It's six six six!"

"No, it's six six two-thousand and six. Chill."
  9. I'd like alternate 2-handed attacks for weapons sets (for non-shield users). Wielding a gigantic battle axe or war mace one-handed is cool and all, but two-handed clobbering SMASH is awesome. This is something I've wanted for a very long time.

Also, dual pistols. Something more calculating, and less "jump around like a moron shooting everywhere except what you're aiming at".
  10. There's a new power in the Force Mastery APP: Repulsion Bomb. It's kind of like Explosive Blast, except it knocks things straight down instead of away from you.

Here's how I like to use it. Buildup -> Repulsion Bomb. Everything falls down. As they are getting up, Energy Torrent. As energy torrent begins, queue up Explosive Blast. Torrent has a bit of travel time before the knockback kicks in, so you can snag the entire group with Explosive Blast before any are sent flying as long as it fires immediately after torrent. Thus, you can hit every enemy in a group with all three AoEs before any are knocked away, even when not hovering above them. This can kill every minion in a group before they get a chance to do anything, while damaging the lieutenants enough to only needing a finishing blow (which is easy when they are on their back again). Evil stuff.
  11. AR/Fire is straightforward damage. Lots of AoE madness and charred corpses.

To leverage all the AoE, I find it useful to adopt a very mobile play style. Line up cones mid-combat, quickly leap in and out to joust with fire sword circle, always moving to the best spot to maximize damage. I use hurdle and combat jumping for this purpose, since they never shut off when you attack.

For large-bags-of-hit-points that heavily resist lethal damage, I use Ring of Fire and Ignite, jousting with Fire Sword (use hurdle and combat jumping to attack mid-air as I hop past). Ring of Fire does nice damage for a tier 1 immobilize, and recharges quickly enough to stack on bosses. Once that target is stuck, start the barbecue. And practice your maniacal laugh.

... Did I mention this combo really suits my play style?
  12. Repulsion bomb is a great way to start a fight. Add in two more AoE attacks, and you've just killed every minion in a group with no chance for them to fight back.

I've always been a fan of "your dumb". Uh ... your what is dumb?
  14. Related to accuracy, try this:

    1) On your power tray you'll see the word "Powers" next to Inspirations and Enhancements. Click this and a list of your powers comes up.

    2) On top of your list of powers you'll see the words "Combat Attribues". Click this and another window appears.

    3) On this new window, click on "Base". This will show you some base stats for your character.

    4) One of these stats reads "Last Hit Chance". Right-click on this and choose "Monitor Last Hit Chance. This will make a little window that shows you what chance you had to hit after every attack you make. You can close the Combat Attributes window but keep the Last Hit Chance one open. Drag this window somewhere convenient.

    5) Go fight stuff and check out what your chance to hit is. 95% is the highest it goes. If you are still missing too much at 95%, unfortunately that's just a streak of bad luck (yes it happens to all of us). If it's always lower than 95%, you can use accuracy or tohit buffs to improve it, or lower your difficulty level.

Note that some enemies have specific powers that make them harder to hit; pay attention which enemies these are and what power is dropping your hit chance. Try to use a mezz power on them before they can use that power.
  15. Slotting the Chance To Stun proc in stamina, and randomly stunning yourself. Drunken blaster? Heck yea!

Back when Bane Spiders first came out, if you didn't change your costume when you first got the mace, it wouldn't appear at all. Due to the sweeping attack animations, it looked like you were punching things. ASSASSIN'S DONKEY PUNCH!
  16. Try something with the large robotic gloves costume piece. It looks like the claws slide right out of them. It's a very cool effect.
  17. They don't really "stack" in the same way you can stack debuffs (sonic, rad, etc). Repulsion bomb is knockdown, so it won't knock stuff out of torrent/blast AoE range. Since energy torrent and explosive blast don't cause knockback 100% of the time, using them in rapid succession just increases the chance of one landing, and allows them both to hit all the targets before they go on their merry way.

But yea, "sending stuff flying like bowling pins" is usually the net result.

Have you tried out Repulsion Bomb in Force Mastery yet? This is a fun way to start a fight:

    1) Repulsion bomb. Stuff falls down and takes damage.

    2) Energy torrent.

    3) Queue up explosive blast BEFORE energy torrent finishes activating. Since torrent has some travel time before the knockback goes into effect, tag them with explosive blast before some are knocked out of the AoE effect.

Three AoEs back-to-back, with very little chance for your enemies to do anything. No setup time is required. After that, the rest is cleanup.

That player just did in seconds what it would have taken me minutes to set up.
Devices has a stealth power. "Speed" task force runs like players who can stealth missions. Don't worry about caltrop/mine patches, just toss cone attacks around like mad.

I have never been turned down for a task force while playing AR/Dev.
  20. Well done Ravenous33!

I had a good feeling you'd go through with it. As the saying goes, "You sir, are awesome."
  21. I am in awe. Thank you everyone. Honestly I wasn't expecting much response beyond "lol u c8zee".

I'm willing to put up another 2 billion, However I have a better (worse) idea:

It's come to my attention that dumping influence into my own supergroup, while not an optimal method of gaining prestige, is not truly "pissing it away". I'm still getting a bigger base for my friends and my other characters out of the deal.

Issue 17 presents a new opportunity, with the announced feature to allow us to email influence between characters. Please let me know if I am wrong about this, or if it isn't feasible to move that much across servers.

I propose a new supergroup be created on a neutral server (I'm on Champion so somewhere else), for the purpose of draining influence. This will leave a verifiable receipt of the transaction, viewable by anyone who wishes to join. For those who want to participate, the rules of this supergroup will be simple:

    1) Choose a suitable name. Bit Bucket, Price of Vanity, Brewser's Millions, Slash my Wrists, Barnum Was Right, etc.

    2) Prestige may only be gained by donations to the SG registrar. Multiples of 1 million (500 million influence) are encouraged, to make tracking rule 3 easier.

    3) Do not play in super group mode. Ever. That would defeat the point. Better yet just don't play that character at all.

    4) Do not make a SG base. Using prestige to do anything defeats the point.

If I make such a supergroup, I will pass SG Leader star to someone else. This way I won't be able to take the prestige, kick everyone, and start my own SG with a sweet base. Or if we really want to finalize the transaction we could disband the SG, although that would close the door to future expansion (you know you want into the top-100 SG list).

We'll also need a suitable SG name, see names suggestions above for ideas.

If anyone has suggestions or feedback (or just wants to tell me how stupid this idea is) let me know.
  22. After further thought, I apologize to StratoNexus. That's what I get for posting over lunch break angry about work stuff. I'll step away from the PC for a bit.

I suppose you think mezz protection is a niche choice on an AT designed around damage AND defense.

Yes, the most effective blasters use both range AND melee. That is well known and I agree. But still, long range attacks have their uses and it pains me that choices are so limited with regards to this power.
  24. Every time I create a new blaster, it makes me very sad that if I want Boost Range there is only one secondary to choose from.
  25. Sorry Talen, didn't want to attach uncropped since they are 1920x1080. Anyway they are here if you want to check them out.

lol why would you do that
Because my base is built with mortar mixed from the cries of market whiners.

btw, don't try this unless you really, really mean it. There is no "are you sure" button.
