Only at HasbroWoTCTSR. I can assure you that there are quire a few companies that still remember what RPGs were and are. Check out your FLGS.

Back to the OP: I've played since the first version. This new Gamma World is GW in name only. HasbroWoTCTSR, in their finite wisdom has pretty much turned it into a beer-n-pretzels game, with a 4th Ed Core and a random "not-collectible-but-really-is" card mechanic.

Oh.... And they forgot how to count as well... this would be Edition Number 8 (including Omega World). 8D

If you want to try it out, I'm sure you'll be able to find it on ebay in the next year fairly cheap. In the mean time... try Mutant Future, The free Hair-apparent to Gamma World (http://www.goblinoidgames.com/mutantfuture.html) or Atomic Highway (http://radioactiveapedesigns.com/games.php) for a little bit more Rules light Mad-Max-y kind of PA Fun.

No, and I assume you're referring to the Alpha Series modules from Gamma World 3rd ed. The humans weren't aliens... it was leading to the discovery of the Warden, the ship from Gamma World's Progenitor "Metamorphosis Alpha" what was intended to become a separate campaign setting for GW before the line got shut down the first time.

  4. I20 must have Nemesis PWNies, A Nemesis Solder VEAT (like Wolf Spiders, except you decide if you want to be a fusilier or a warhulk), a Fake Nemesis VEAT, and the "Lord Nemesis Task Force" in which all other TFs are exposed to be Nemesis Plots.

NCSoft will go under if they don't do this!

And I know you weren't trying to be extreme with your post, I'm just pointing that out as one of the weird ways people think about Dual Pistols. People point out it's middle of the road, but people keep thinking it needs more. Odd, when you realize that.
    OMG WTF LOL LRN2PLY N00B!

    Heh...

"Middle of the road" might have been a poor choice of words. What I meant is that, there's nothing that particularly stands out about DP which is a shame because it's got "Swap Ammo" which, IMHO (and I said as much in beta), with a bit of an increase in the secondary effects would shift some peoples opinion from "meh" to "wow."

And I thought of another cool (as far as I'm concerned, 8D) idea with Defenders in mind.

"Special Ammo" instead of "Swap Ammo"

Chemical Rounds could have a "Poison Trap" effect, Cryo Rounds could have an effect like "Flash Freeze" and Incendiary Rounds could be like "Flashfire"

    Just tossing it out there
  6. Personally, as a whole, I find it's pretty much on par with the other shooty powers, although since I don't min/max or number-crunch I'm sure I can be proved *technically* wrong on that.

I think that some changes could be made to make the set a bit less middle-of-the-road though:

    * Up the effectiveness of the secondary effects. A little more knock-down/stun, a little more slow/-regen, a little more -def, and maybe a little better chance for Dot. Nothing game breaking, but bit more utility would go a long way to making this set stand out.

    * Trim the animation time just a tad and/or offer a less "gun-fu" set of animations.

    * I'd personally, would have liked an "aim," but here's an alternative:

How-about an inate ability - once swap ammo is selected - that has a percentage to *suggest" the best ammo to use? Could be a little orange ring (ala DB combos) after you successfully "roll" the percentage chance?

    Just a thought
  7. It was an alright episode, although I think it would have simply been better as an episode of the performance, say at a midnight showing then the slightly contrived plot crammed in around the songs.

That said. I loved Brit as Colombia and Santana freaking rocked Magenta... but I think the MVP has to be Kurt who seemed to be channeling Richard O'Brian's campy "Riff."

I'm fairly sure that was Quinn (Dianna Agron) doing SFDF, althought she sounded like she was trying her damnedest, it's hard to hide that "breathy babydoll" voice.

Lastly. missed opportunity time. Sue should have burst in at the last minute with:

    "Will-am Schu-ster... it's all over.
You Glee Club is a failure
    Your hair styles' too extreme..."
  8. I assume that date's because we're doin' the Time Warp again? 8D
  9. MM Robot choices:

    Classic

    Clockwork (Paragon)

Liquid Metal (smooth, featureless bodies with, tight seams)

Retro (stick limbs with round "ball" joints," Cylinder heads, smooth "oil drum" body. Pincer hands)

Spheres/Drones (Round, headless bots with tentacles for arms and no legs)
  10. Sweet Jesus, will it never end?

Well, at least it's only a one-shot hardcover. That'll hopefully kill the concept before it spreads...
  11. Accolades and Temp Powers, I can understand not being global, but costume unlocks should be global instead of forcing players to do TFs, events, and badge hunts again and again simply to unlock this axe or that rifle.

And that argument that you should do the legwork is a bit flimsy, after all, if you've gotten it once already, you *have* done the legwork.

((Edit: I'd support Swell's "Merits for Unlocks" suggestion as well. It'd give me something to do with the damn things))
  12. Absolutely not.

The series is "Indiana Jones" not "Son of Indiana Jones." It makes about as much sense as "Flash Gordon's Daughter fights the Moon Men" or "Alan Quatermain's Fifth Cousin and the Temple of the Brass Monkey." What they need to do is recast Indy and send him back to the pulp era, possibly with a loving "passing of the torch" intro with Ford starting telling his grand kids about "... the time when I was in Singapore... (fade to new Indy in trouble as usual)"

And personally, I think Nathan Fillion would make a *great* Indy.

You know? I lost a lost of respect for Wick when he said that. He began to sound a bit less like someone who loves the hobby and a little more like someone who's lost interest in a pastime.

That said, I'm in Asheville and I've pretty much given up on a steady gaming night here... too many young WoTC fanboys/girls, too many older gamers not willing to commit any of their "precious" time anymore.

However, I have enough of a group together to have played with "Atomic Highway" a bit. Some of the most fun I've had in chargen in a loooong time, and V6 is a nice rules-lite system for having gonzo fun with.
  14. I guess I'm in the minority when I say that I felt that this was one of the weaker episodes. It seemed a bit "crowded" for me, with the various angles and could have easily been split into two.

However, I did like the Brit/Arty thing. (I was bawling when she was sitting alone pushing the meatball. What an incredibly sad and defining image of the character.)

I really, really want Brit and Arty to become a couple now.
  15. The way I see it, stalkers only need two changes.

    * HP at the same level as scrappers
    * Hide breaks agro.

    Dr.Who news....

I'm sure there are a few that might be able to correct me, but as I recall, although stated multiple times that there was a limit of 12 regenerations, it was never stated (that I can remember) is that was an actual physical limit, or some culturally self-imposed limit (There does seem to be a bit more evidence that regeneration is a voluntary thing, at least at times).

Further more, in any case, we seen canon examples of getting around that already, from the Master's various artifical means, to the evidence that the Time War threw those conventions out the window by allowing them to bring back Time Lords and then (again, in the Master's case... as far as we know) give them a new "lease" on life. I don't think we remotely seen all the lingering effects of the Time War on The Doctor yet.

With The Doctor being the "last" of the Time Lords, and the fact that we see the current incarnations constantly breaking the "rules" more blatantly than ever before... it doesn't surprise me if it's simply that he's decided to pitch the whole idea of a limit.

And there's that whole "Other" thing as well. 8D

Actually, I think the worth of something is in the eye of the specific buyer. Tell me a house it worth 1 million dollars, but if I don't like the floor plan... it's not worth 1 dollar to me.

For example, My use of merits is limited to the occasional purchase of some rare piece of salvage that a friend might need (thanks to global inf emailing, I no longer even use them for auction-able items to provide easy cash for a newer toon because I don't want to find someone to play middleman.). Hell, I'd hand them out like Halloween Candy if I could. I very rarely use IOs and could care less about Purples, Proc, and Set Recipes. So... to me, these are worthless to me as are the merits themselves.

However I like costumes, especially accouterments and alt modes for powers. I also detest having to jump thorough hoops (like waiting for a Rikti event and gathering all three event badges just to unlock a Rikti sword) or waiting until a ridiculous level just to jump thorough hoops get an item for a costume (like 30+ so I can go harvest Family Bosses in St. Martial). So, for me... unlocking, say the Tommy Gun for a gangster character or Rocket Boots for a tech toon without having to deal with all the strings would be worth 1, 5, heck... 20 Normal and/or A-Merits.

So. while some players might value IOs quite highly, for myself and others of the same mindset costume unlocks are so very much much more precious than IOs to us.. I really can't see any reasonable reason why unlocks couldn't be offered as another option for merit use alongside of IOs and salvage.

  20. Costume/Accessory unlocks with merits... hmm. If this were to happen I might actually use them.
  21. "FREEM" is actually from the WH40k Webcomic called "Turn-signals on a Land Raider" It's the sound effect for a Laz Cannon. It has since been adopted by geek gamers the land over...

    ... including Posi
  22. Hmmm... just froze up hard, had to reboot. It went through verifying files and now I've gotten in.

    *shrugs*
  23. Was making a toon, crashed, now nothing but DBserver connection loss issues. I can get into other servers.

    Anyone else just crash out?
