Well, I give the beggers the benefit of the doubt by assuming that they're new to the game and still have a long way to go before learning how to earn their inf proper. Players who've asked me for inf in the past usually respond gracefully when I refuse to give them some, interestingly enough.
It's always good to stay positive and practice some tolerance. Replying with a "Go away you dirty begger" certainly isn't necessary when dealing with them. -
*Sigh* The problems that you guys have has come back for me. I have no idea what's up with the server.
-
Location: Singapore
ISP: Starhub
Servers: Virtue
Lag: Whole of last week. Netgraph showed frequent red spikes and everything was rubberbanding. Almost unplayable. But after last Friday's downtime the lag was unnoticable and gameplay became smooth like before.
I had the same problem last year and it stopped after 2 weeks or so. When this happens other online games I play have no lag problems, so I'm pretty sure something went funky in the routing between the player and the server and not an ISP problem as a whole.
For my case I think it was due to the earthquakes in Taiwan of recent. As our routing to the U.S. goes through there. -
AE is killing the game.
AE is creating premature burn-out, not good for CoX long-term wise.
AE is creating a massive drop in subscriptions from massive burn outs.
AE players are automatically bad players and I don't want them in my teams.
If someone doesn't have a 3-month vet badge and is level 50 I kick them from my team. AE's fault.
Doing radio missions over and over is a more legitimate way to play the game.
I have trouble finding teams but have yet to try starting them myself, nor bother to try global channels. I blame AE nonetheless.
AE is killing the market.
AE farmers are bad bad people. I am better than them because I play the game the "right" way.
I can't think of any more hyperbolic anti-AE DOOM. -
I get the exact same netgraph as indicated with all those wonderful red spikes.
This happened to me months back, just after last year's double xp weekend. Now it's happened once more after this year's double xp weekend. Fortunately the lag issue went away weeks after for last year's problem, but now it's backCoincidence? I don't know, but it looks like a pattern here. It's annoying to see NPCs, Cars, warping all over the place due to lag, and even enemies too, to the point where it's almost unplayable.
I can only hope that the lag issue goes away sometime soon like it did before. I was advised once that it was a routing issue from my location to the server, so I guess there's not much I can do too, even when I have a 1MB connection and I have no similar problems with other online games, just with CoX at this time.
Fustrated beyond belief that it happened again. Urgh.
Oh, and I play on Virtue. -
Quote:Can you be any more elitist and self-righteous?AE Babies are wrong because of the things you mentioned, they dont slot, they take the wrong powers, they constantly make mistakes that land people in a hosp.
They dilute the player base with lazy morons...it's like inbreeding. The fact that you would favor a stupid player that doesnt take breaks over a skilled player that does have to pee or other stuff is foolish. As soon as I see a level 50 without the three month vet badge I ask for the star and I kick them out off the team.
I hold a vey stong policy on AE PL'd toons on my teams, that policy is that if they like to gains levels fast they can go with their own kind and stay in that ugly building (and not figurative...that building is physically ugly) -
Not enough doom in this one.

Firstly I don't know how leading a total of 2 PuGs away from the AE in the full duration of 2xp weekend qualifies the statement "I keep foiling AE teams", other than the fact that it reads to me as self-glorification and to seek the exact responses from like-minded people who view such teams with disdain.
And as for the comment made about the devs' "quest" to cut down on farming, they seem to be relying on player reports rather than take the full initiative themselves. If it was such a harrowing issue, they would have long before be proactive in doing so. Furthermore i16 seems to introduce a new feature that has incentive for the playstyle.
So this is how it goes for me. I'll wait for a dev statement on the matter that isn't vague. I'll wait for a definitive ingame motd that declares that farming = ban of account, maybe then the bitter holier-than-thou players can finally get their victory and the repetetive arguments will cease.
Not holding my breath though. -
I remembered playing a farm map where Posi was an AV and his dialogue was like "WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE, I'LL BAN YOU!". The mobs' dialogue all included anti-farm sentiments like "Stop cheating! You're not supposed to be farming!". The humor was satirical at best and made me giggle.
I'm pretty sure that arc was flagged and eventually removed though. -

oh, and to touch upon exploits so you know what they are, an exploit is when the risk involved(comm officers, green mito's)is far less then the reward given. all of these were dealt with already.
[/ QUOTE ]
QFT. People need to stop claiming that farming in general is exploitive. -
[ QUOTE ]
I'll be honest, i dont know how you have "no problem" finding teams. When there's a handful of people in PI now or a few so many in Talos or FF as compared to the decent amount pre-AE.
[/ QUOTE ]
Since you seemed to have ignored my previous reply I'll ask this:
Have you tried your server's global channels? -
[ QUOTE ]

[ QUOTE ]
A lot of the vets are leaving this game because they just cant find teams or TFs easily;
[/ QUOTE ]
can you give us some proof of this instead of just speculation.
[/ QUOTE ]
...What proof could you possible want? The proof that now PLing is possible from 1-50, the proof that i just found 6 people in PI, the proof that i try to find a team for the new TF of the 5th column, and find about 7-8 people total in FF? Yes, if i really tried hard, i could probably find a team like you say i can. But why would i want to do it if it's so hard, if so many people now go from 1-50 in the same 100 ft radius?
[/ QUOTE ]
...which is all anecdotal evidence. The fact of the matter is no one is keeping a statistical log on the current total number of active vets versus those who have recently gone inactive, so no one can really know for sure. Also, vets should already know that there are global channels for the servers they're in for people who want to form a group for something if they're finding it so hard to do so in zone broadcasts. -
EDIT: Misreplied. In reply to Barata
[ QUOTE ]
I was discussing it with Nethergoat, but he seems to think that casting an O-portal to go from AP to Peregrine is using the Oroborous system...
[/ QUOTE ]
So what, just because someone isn't going to the Oroborous to do the TFs or Flashbacks and only to port to another zone doesn't, it doesn't count as "using it"?
Unless you can link me a dev statement saying that using it to port to other zones isn't an intended feature, you're full of it, and I don't mean fluffy stuffing. -
[ QUOTE ]
Two minutes of build-up for ten seconds of debuff? Yes please.
[/ QUOTE ]
After all that enchanced damage being dished out for a long two minutes, ten seconds seems like a very minor if not negligable drawback to me. -
[ QUOTE ]
Huh?
Why would you come in here and call me a liar and try to tell me what I really want? There is no trickery going on here. I want exactly what I said I want for the reasons I stated. 99% of my characters are natural origin and I would really like a natural travel power. I'd also like some other cool options like i mentioned, but I'd use the natural option from my OP the most. Period.
[/ QUOTE ]
Thought I'd point out that the definition of the term "Natural Origin" is not exclusive to those who fall in the category of having no powers but superior physical training that allows the said individual to perform phenomenal feats.
The term also applies for a certain race of beings, for example, who have certain inherent abilities/powers that are unique to their anatomy. If you don't believe me, read the description for the origin in the character creation.
The only "Natural travel powers" in the context of beings who have phenomenal physically abilities that aren't superpowers that would make sense to me are gadgetry like grappling hooks, or compact vehicles, since beings like these wouldn't be able to travel as quickly as those who can travel much more quickly with their powers without some sort of external aid. -
[ QUOTE ]
The downtime after a nuke makes you lose damage... unless it's the last spawn of the mission, I don't really see much point in a nuke at all.... I find nukes are not worth spending a power choice on.
[/ QUOTE ]
The "downtime" is easily overcome. If you have either /fire or /electric secondary, the answer is Consume / Power Sink, provided you have a blue insp to spare to use them. Other than that nukes should only be done if you have an abundant supply of blue insps so that your DPS isn't majorly affected by the end crash.
That being said, I believe nuke powers should never be avoided. When slotted properly their damage and their capabilities to clear mobs are second to none. -
[ QUOTE ]
Blasters... Unload AoEs as soon as the spawn is mostly under control, then close in and use the powerful single target close range and melee attacks on the big guys. A Blaster at range is dangerous. A Blaster in melee range who knows what he's doing is godlike.
[/ QUOTE ]
QFT. A Blaster who focuses on melee attacks together with AoEs (aka a Blapper) can be devastating if played right. The only trick is keeping alive while you're dishing out all that damage and drawing huge aggro. For this reason I feel that Force Mastery APP is THE APP to take if you're playing a Blapper, mainly for PFF and Force of Nature.
Another important factor for Blasters I feel is target prioritization. You need to identify the kind of threats that need to be dealt with first, and quickly so. An example would be a mob going after a Tanker while he keeps aggro on the boss, and the Blaster takes out the mob with AoEs quickly before they become overwhelming for the Tanker, or focusing on an enemy with the most hp or with the most devastating attacks. -

*looks down on the anti-farming bigots*

Conceptual wise, my fire blaster is supposed to fire plasma bolts and not actual fire. I'm not entirely sure what the natural colour of plasma would be in this case though. It would be either red, green or blue.
-
I'm very happy with the announcement and i16 looks to be the issue to look forward to for me.
Heavy customization, to me, has always been this MMO's greatest feature that sets it in a class of its own from other MMOs.. It's nice to see the game moving along in a good direction to build up on it's strong points. -
[ QUOTE ]
I upped the difficulty to the max and the Atlas Statue just animated and threw the ball at me.
[/ QUOTE ]
I think he'll throw the ball at the AE building first! -
[ QUOTE ]
The fact that lower level characters are using the AE isn't an issue.
The issue that most people seem to have with it is that for a lot of new players AE is ALL they know.
[/ QUOTE ]
This is why I'm all for AP, Galaxy, other lowbie zones having their AE buildings taken out so that lowbies are given the opportunity to be introduced to the fundamental mechanics like the tram system and the crafting system.
Suggesting that the AE be exclusive to the Shard will only punish new players who might want to run low-level story arcs and also experienced players with newly created toons who want to do low-level arcs too. -
[ QUOTE ]
I never said nobody at all wanted to be in the shard, I simply said nobody wanted the jet pack vendor in the shard.
[/ QUOTE ]
I did misread there, but to suggest nobody wanting the vendor to be there in the first place is a bogus statement to me. I'll bet you that anyone who wants to hunt Rularuu or do a QTF there benefits from the vendor alot considering if they don't have any flight powers or their temp jetpacks have long since run out. Anyone who goes there and not want a jetpack from the vendor either has flight already or something's really wrong with them.
Anyway we're going off track here. Whether or not there's a jetpack vendor or not doesn't change the fact that the AE's demographic of use was not intended for just higher levelled players and lowbies should have access to it as well to create or play arcs suited for lower levels. -
[ QUOTE ]
That's the point isn't it? Making the AE less accessible to lowbies. People that ALREADY have high level toons will know about it and may indeed still use it to farm.
But people just starting out in the game will have no idea where it's at or how to get to it. Nor will they be bombarded with broadcasts for farming teams the instant they leave the tutorial.
[/ QUOTE ]
Apart from creating story arcs, the AE is also intended for an alternative means to get from level 1 to 50, so I don't see such a restriction as realistic.
A suggestion was made on another thread to remove the AE buildings from lowbie areas like AP or Galaxy for blue-side's case and leaving them to higher levelled and easily accessible areas like Steel Canyon once new players have had ample time to learn the ropes. I think this is much more feasible.
[ QUOTE ]
As for the jet pack vendor and what have you, move it. Nobody likes it being in the shard anyways, so I see no reason why it would have to remain there.
[/ QUOTE ]
There is a point, and a very good one, for the jetpack vendor being in the Shard. It's for high levelled players to be able to fly: the best method of travel for the Shard if they don't have the flight pool.
As for nobody wanting to be in the Shard, I wonder if you've come across people wanting to get their rularuu weapons?
