  1. To the above poster.

Out of all my scrappers, of which multiples are 50's of all types. Dark armor is the /sec that I really dont care what type of mob I fight as well. About the only thing I dont think /dark can do better than other /sec's is fight AV/GM's.

Up until a couple weeks ago Id never manage to buy/purchase any of the healing uniques.
On a different thread people were talkin about rolling for them in the 24-29 bronze ticket roll range.

I collected approx 8k tickets from a couple toons and rolled all on lvl 24-29 bronze rewards

I managed to get 2 steadfast uniques and 2 miracles

Should I skip shout all together and save the slot for something else in an Epic maybe?

The big question is for me now is Domination vs Electric? Efence is nice for holding AVs at bay but if it is not going to work then what does Domination have to offer and how is it used? I have to admit to zero clues here.
No attacks in the epics will be better than a /sonic attack.
The only power I wouldnt take outta my secondary would be the cone knockback.
And maybe my nuke if im AV solo'n.

You will not hold an AV with dominate. At least as a defender.
Id dip into psi epics to get MoB so my toggles wont drop and take the resist shield on the way.

Currently my Solo Empath build is at 25% defense to ranged and around 16-19% to other types with the highest being Psi at 19%. My S/L is 65% and I also have Energy at 23% or so.
Energy defense is actually over 20% now that I think about it.

Besides IO set bonuses; I took CJ, Tough/Weave and Charged Armor to get this amount of defense.
The point I was tryin to make was... In the OP, tough/weave was used to get 11/20 res/def. I was tryin to add with takin 3 powers (aim, maneuv., cj) any defender could get to approx 20% def without really tryin.

However YOU got to your defense totals is awesome.

Empathy + any secondary: and you have a kick *** heal, IH lvl's regen requently, stamina+. With the 5 original powers (tough/weave, cj, aim etc), for a good solid base to build any kinda toon you want on. Without sacrificing anything in the way of build compromises. Unless its something RP.

    Defenders rock!
Now if we could only get their damage increased like in that other thread running right now.

  5. Anyone who says they play defenders and think they play exactly like they expect obviously hasnt spent that much time playin defenders.

Dominators needed a damage boost as well. Sayin that they got a nerf instead means either 1 of 2 things.

    1. You didnt play dominators much either

    OR

    2. You were a fire/psi and got pissed that they nerfed PS.
  6. DP and siphon life shut my psi hole!

How are you seein enemy stat info?
    Please explain.
  8. 11% defense /20% resist to all is a pretty good start with only 2 powers in my opinion.

    Whats defender values for maneuvers?

6 Slotted Aim with guassions is 2.5%.

Id imagine with CJ im hitting near 20% defense to all. I hear 25% def is where players notice the payoff of this kinda thinkin.

Slot the rest of the way for recharge for perma AM+hasten.
  9. Any change to defenders needs to start with the inherent.

Something like defiance would be perfect.
It'd help solo defenders of all stripes.
  10. That build looks unbeatable.

    Good luck with that toon.

good to know, thanks for the clarification.
  12. There are a couple mind attacks that have no positional components to them.
Attacks normally are something like melee/nrg damage or smashing/neg nrg. These psy attacks are typed as just psy.
Meaning against a couple attacks /SR has no defense against.

Really not much to worry about as a first time /sr player.
  13. But thats weaksauce.

Any 3 toons should be at +1 X6 or maybe X8 if any of you have HALF a clue

    On a sidenote.

As team leader everyone on the team is -1 lvl to you. So, if your lvl 50 everyone else on the team is 49. So while the mobs are only +1 to you, they are +2 to all your teammates.
  14. 3 travel powers?

Id drop one and get tk thrust.

Will domination, mental blast, and TK thrust are just too good to pass up on a /psy defender.
  15. Recharge, gettin AM and hasten down to as small a recharge as possible would be my first goal.
Rad/ /rad can slot alot of the -resist procs.
Chokin cloud can take the chance for +2 hold proc.
  16. Shouldnt this thread really be titled "ninjitsu is hard mode SR"?

Just checked ingame information at start up screen. When did cloak of darkness get an endurance reduction? That power used to use approx. .52 end/sec now its the same as the other armors. Leaving only CoF and DS as end sinks.

Your 2 channel powers, dark consumption and the other, while on a super long charger, do surprising amounts of damage when fueled by fury.

I'd suggest avoiding Mace, Axe, Super Strength, and Stone, unless you have a strong plan for endurance management. These are some of the more expensive brute primaries.

Whichever primary you pick, Dark Regeneration will be your worst endurance sink. It is definitely worthwhile to save your merits and pick up a Theft of Essence: Chance for +Endurance to slot into it; it will refund some of (or sometimes even all of!) the cost of Dark Regeneration.

And grab a build planner to plan out your build. Watch your End Consumption vs. End Recovery, and do NOT put purples or very rare or expensive in the build. This way, you can know what to expect while levelling, instead of being frustrated because your levelling build isn't as good as your planned final build.

You might also want to find Desmodos' guide for Dark/Dark scrappers. Much of what's in it will still apply for brutes.
    Excellent advise.

Let me add, Slot knock protection IO's instead of accrobatics (huge end sink). Dont run shadowcloak while fighting AT ALL, EVER (huge end sink)!!! Impervium armors are a godsend. Get your endurance accolades.

And while I do agree with what you've said about the synergy between dark melee and dark armor, with the above IO slotting advise, endurance usage/problems arent much of a concern anymore.
Letting you choose other primaries without fear of being an endwhore.

Dm/invuln for sure, completely unstoppable. Build for typed defense, with recharge and regen/recovery in that order. Get accolades. Enjoy!!!
  21. Scaling resists have a place if you actively monitor there lvls. Often times ive been in the red and popped a med orange and im at /invuln lvls of resistance. Its still using inspiration and all that. but...

Im starting to think of building a ma/sr with the fighting pool and getting PP from the epic. Instead of aid self and breakin out that damn tricorder.

I dont know. I dont see the desire for /nin scrappers. Defense with a self heal can be had already (dm/sr). We can get caltops. That leaves a confuse power and a placate.

I dont know about you, but anytime I play a scrapper I want as much attention all the time as possible. Throwing out a smoke bomb and hiding doesnt feel very scrapperish.

That leaves a confusion/-tohitt type power. And while confuses are fun, I still dont go ga-ga when i think about confusing the enemies. If we could stack it with another confuse maybe id start to get behind the idea.

But to each their own, with Going Roque comin nothings stopping ya from coming over.
  22. anything/sr/weapons will beat anything/nin/anything all day long.
  23. I think what the OP should ask next is. "on my ill/rad, do I ever feel like I wanna take a more after part in controlling my summons,".

If you do, then something like a thugs/dark or maybe a nin/thermal, would be more to your liking.

If you dont, then you should roll something like an earth/fire or grav/thorn dom.
