  1. You do have a point. DM kicks alot of ***!

That being said. Stylistically you might wanna try something different?
I hate repeating sets and do so as little as possible.

    Maybe cuz kat/wp>dm/wp?
  2. A couple things.

As nice as the tp prot proc is in Owts, why would you have that in a dm/shield build?
Are there any mobs that tp foe or repel?
And if you pvp why do it with a dm/shield in the first place?
Thats the first slot I swap out to better my build.

Werner, Im guessing that that bind switches out sj and cj with the press of the e key. Strangely, I cant tell anything that bind is doin.

I could have completely misinterpreted the slotting in the OP and disregard what i say about the slotting and I could have mistyped the bind.

    Who knows im an idiot!
  3. Rad/sonix would be my last choice for a deftroller build

    Anything/ice would be better.

    Or storm/dark.

    TA/darks feel controllery.

Dark/ice would give you a kick *** fear cone, autohit aoe stun, 3 holds, an intangibility power. All of that at a relatively early lvl range.

Waiting till 41 to unlock epics to finally be able to reliably hold bosses on a rad/son doesnt seem worth it to me.
And not that I think rad/son arent the bee-knees, using them in a deftroller way seems to undermine their effectiveness.

But like others have said, Play what you want.
  4. Im currently lvl'n up a kat/wp and fire/rgn, both at lvl 31 that lvl'd approx the same time together.

Rttc when saturated gives as much +regen as IH+DP basically.

I think at lvl 20 kat/wp would be the best way to go.
  5. Change vigilence to something like brutes fury.

As you use your pri/sec you build "vigilence", which grants +endurance.

    Useful solo and teamed.
    Great for any powerset combination.
Anything a team of 8 rad/sons will do wont be effected.

This even solves the healbot mentality. Standing around spammin heal aura, no vigilence for choo!

What would it do for the average defender?
Well, that leadership pool I dip'd so heavily in. I'll be able to slot something other than endurance reductions in them for better effect. And ill still be able to attack to keep my vigilance buff up.

As much as I'd love to see a +recharge buff or mez protection, I know that isnt goin to happen.

I refer back to the OP when they said "let the defender be the 1 AT that doesnt have to worry about endurance".
  6. Yes, I do mean cold/nrg defender.

specifically what epic pool for pvp on this toon.
I was thinkin electric for thunderstrike.
Powerboosted infrig and benumb might help set up for a spike. Along with powerpush.

Neither ally shields nor frostwork will be takin.

But you know, fighting a few hard targets with that powerset combo, a person could be lead to believe the damage is kinda low.

Relying on lunge and ripper for ST damage would kinda suck as the "boss killer" role.

However, against lots of weak enemies and that combo has no equals.
  8. My cold/nrg is fast approaching 50 and im starting to think about dual builds and pvp.

Would any of you mids builders help with a pvp oriented build.

No IO's needed just powerpicks and slotting recommendations (as in when to slot which powers).

Any and all help would be appreciated!

    kthanxbi

edit. Would this build be even remotely viable in pvp.
  9. Kat/wp for an awesome all-arounder

OP, that spines/fire is a minion muncher. set difficulty to +1X8 and go to town.
  10. I will 2nd or 3rd how fun grav/storm is.

I agree with the above poster stating /storm or /rad is the best pairing for gravity.

However, I would imagine that grav/kin would be hella fun also.
As much damage as gravity does, helping that with SP and later FS would make the set even better!
  11. Your Traps buddy is giving all the defense needed really, if you 2 play it smart.

I think /kinetics would be a good pairing.

Wormholed mobs to trap, FS, start blasting...
    /transfusion for some stop-gap healing...
And as awesome as grav/ is for ST damage upping that with a damage boosting secondary would be my ideal at least.

It actually sounds like a really fun idea.
Using /sonix AoE sleep to let you hit fulcrum shift aggro free to start each battle.
You two could steamroll or set up traps to deal with more difficult content.

Have fun with whatever you choose!!!
  12. To the OP

You might want to look into dominators as well.

If control is what u want to experience as a solo player, they have the kill speed to make control fun in a scrapperish kind of way.
They dont rely on pets to be able to really shine with pve content.

Also, dark/dark defenders are some of the best "controllers" in the game.

But if your stuck on the controller AT, Id suggest as a first time player either
    grav/kin or ice/rad.
  13. inv/dm would be my choice for a main battle tank if invuln/ is goin to be your primary.

Siphon life's heal can patch up most damage that gets through invinc. allowing you to save dull pain for when you really need it.

At least in my play xp inv/ was a little end heavy as well. Dark melee's +damage and +endurance attacks help fill other holes in the set as well.

    Fire/Regen PvE

I would have to drop Fire Sword Circle which would give me no AOE until lvl 47 and Resilience or I could probably not get Weave in which case I am not sure Tough alone is worth it since I wont have Resilence to stack with it. If you can use your above average intellect to make such a build let me know and I will recognize your superior intelligence or hacking skills. Otherwise realize that sacrifices of one side need to be made, either concept or effectiveness.

There are 2 builds allowed but the second once was going to be designed for PvP which requires perception and probably a Phase.
Why would you take resilience if your not gonna take tough.
For the piddly resists or the additional stun protection?

Are you even listening to yourself?

    Thats how you use DR.
Time your heal better. You have solid resists. Wait for the alpha to hit and part of the follow-up volley till you heal. Most of the mobs will be dead by the time they do any major damage again.

Move on to next spawn. DR recharges quick if u slot it.
  16. With minimal slotting of stun sets, OG can help with endurance management.
I dont think you can say the same for CoF

My IO'd ma/da never had CoF. It went against the concept of the character.
I run missions on that toon with difficulty set at +2 X8. Im starting to think that OG might be more of a drain of my health that I realized before.
Wandering mobs dont bother me so much, but meh, whatever floats your boat.

Im workin on a 40 kat/da with no IO investment and with CoF. Endurance is a real concern still and Im hestitant to make a final decision on that toon until/if it gets some IO upgrades. Or at epic lvls and physical perfection.
I think this toon works as good as it does just from DA. It really makes /da soo much better. Getting defense so you dont have to spam your heal soo much goes a long way in terms of damage per endurance and resting. All that crap.

I think each toggle does its job in damage mitigation. Whether or not you want to stun or fear is a concept thing for me. Id never run them together.

    Healing Uniques

Which AT and powerset specifically get the most out of having the 3 healing uniques slotted?

My first thought was either /regen or /willpower. But slotting an additional 35% regen to /regen seems kinda silly when you realize how much they already regen.

So my 2nd thought was something like /sr which has no regen. I could boost a lil bit of regen even higher.

But THAT got me thinkin about blasters/defenders/tanks etc.

    Any word from the wise?
  18. JamMasterJMS

    What to make...

Dm/sr or kat/wp scraps are beastly just using SO's.
You could also try dm/inv as well.

Each primary covering up a weakness of the secondary.
  19. DP = dullpain = hoarfrost.

Slotting in permafrost would be my first choice as well.
Unfortunately, i wont be takin that power. Nor tough/weave.

So if i wanna slot a steadfast in my ice/ tank I would have to put it in DP.

    Now.

What slot would you give up on hoarfrost if you slot 3 rech/3 heal usually?
  20. My question,

If I slot the +r3 def. steadfast unique in hoarfrost, will I gain that defense bonus all the time, or only when DP is actively running?

And If it does grant that bonus all the time, the only thing im losing slotting it in hoarfrost is either a slot for health or recharge, correct?
