Hey so uh...
Quote:...Yeah, maybe this isn't that great of a protest song.I found the Incarnate Well
Don't ask me I'll never tell
I got a Midnighter spell
But it's go-ing away
I'd trade my IOs for a wish
Spent all my nickles on this
Wasn't looking to quit
But it's go-ing away
Paragon was holdin'
Fast snipe, things were fixing
Mot died, Hamidon's growing
Where you think you're going, baby?
Hey, I just met you
And this is crazy
But here's my global
Save the city, maybe?
It's hard to not fight
with the villains
But here's my global
Save the city maybe?
And all the other games
Try to chase me
But here's my global,
Save the city, maybe?
I've got a Bots/Time mastermind
We'll group for Faathim the Kind
'cause Doctor Q is too much grind
But it's going away
I'll beg and sign and protest
That farewell post is a jest
I didn't know I'd be such a mess
It's all going away
We've all got to hold on
I'm sure, we can show 'em
We'll fight, Tweet and YouTube
Where you think you're going, baby? -

We'll see. I ordered a couple of cheap boxes of Going Rogue from Amazon for some friends. The first one should be here tomorrow and I'll try it on one of their accounts. Will let you all know.

The Titan Networks coders are already aware of SEGS. However, I believe SEGS is looking to reverse-engineer the game, which is unfortunately illegal and outside the scope of the Titan Networks projects.

Hey guys. I have an art request that will help out one of the projects we've started at Titan.
We want to post flyers in comic book shops IRL about City of Heroes. I could paste a screenshot on a page and glue promotional art around it but... well, let's just say I'd prefer to stick to writing.
Would any of our fine artists consider creating either an image that really captures the "plea for help" to use as a stand-alone picture, or a full informational flier? It would be great if had information about the petition (http://bit.ly/savecoh) and maybe the Titan Forums (http://www.cohtitan.com/forum/index....ard,134.0.html -- although, that's kind of a mouthful). TonyV's catchphrases for this project include "We're heroes, it's what we do" and "Save Paragon City!".
The message in a nutshell is something like...
"Help save our city!
The players of City of Heroes have invested eight years in the friendships and stories of Paragon City. Although the town is fictional, the community is very real, and is about to be dissolved by NCSoft. Please, help us convince NCSoft to change their mind or release or sell City of Heroes, so we can keep telling some of the greatest superhero stories around!
Please show your support by signing our petition at http://bit.ly/savecoh, and follow the #SaveCoH tag on twitter to see other ways you can help out. Even something as small as clicking "like" or "retweet" on City of Heroes-related stories will help us show NCSoft how important this is to us.
We've been saving our city for eight years, but now we need YOU to help us save it again."
...I figure having little #SaveCoH http://bit.ly/savecoh tearoffs would also be prudent, yeah? -
Ah, my apologies! I was using other resources she posted so heavily I just assumed. Ty, Leandro!

There's actually a really neat idea over here about flyering your local comic book shops (with their permission, of course) and I just realized that I know someone who works at a print shop.
-
Steel... track?
But we will know many of those things! Positron said so. -
Quote:This has been my feeling on the issue. But in CoH, where Blasters aren't given defenses, it would have been a very interesting way to give them defense without defense.
The thing is, one of the few ways to build an effective tank in the CO system as of the last time I played (about when specializations were rolled out to about the roll out of the power armor tank AT) was to just hold block with some way of generating threat while doing so. (I have a tank that works that way, and while I did occasionally struggle to hold threat, I really never was at risk of death.)
...Meh. In general, there was just a huge gap between optimal and non-optimal builds. They were addressing it, but even the ways they were addressing it were frankly stupid; there was at that point (unsure if it's been either altered or officially acknowledge) an un-printed damage bonus that Archetypes got which freeforms did not. Several players demonstrated this over the course of a few weeks, but it wasn't acknowledged by the developers (in that period). -
Well, we'd have to buy them from a local bakery that delivers. Hmm.
-
Oh man, I love that video. I've been watching it like, once a day since a week after it came out.

Contrary to what others have said, I do believe we could obtain a temporary injunction against the shutdown. I'd rather not go into exactly why that is, because I also agree with some of the reasons why we shouldn't even start the process at this point. And in any case, an injunction won't save the game or help out Paragon Studios at all, and it would be very expensive and exhausting. Maybe in two months I'll reconsider.
-
She can't do it alone. We have a ton of media presence but we need to keep it up -- and expand further into the mainstream if possible. Get on Twitter and start following the Titan Network; join the CoH groups on Facebook; "like" or "recommend" every single news post you find about the game.
And even better, get your friends to do it. Help them understand just how much this place has meant to you, and get them all to sign the http://bit.ly/savecoh petition; even if we need to find some other way to save the game, the number of respondents there is a huge show of support.
And if you know of anything that will help -- a journalist, a billboard rental, urban artist, print shop -- if you can write or make YouTube videos --
please.
Help us save Paragon City. -
I just met you,
and this is crazy
but here's my global
save the city maybe? -
It was a busy week!
Quote:Originally Posted by Mutant_MikeWow.. Very cool recap... I'm curious, though... Were there any outtakes of that production?
Tyvm. Yes, I intend to do this every week for the foreseeable future... of course, if we get another investor swooping in to rehire PS and continue the game, you'll all be saved from them. -
Delivering to NCSoft Norcal is... unlikely to have a functional effect, although I bet Zwill and anyone else still in the building will cry through the frosting smeared over their mouths. Seriously, those sound delicious.
Delivering to the offices in Seattle might be a start. (Delivering them to the server hosting crews in Austin -- also not a bad idea, especially if we pack a few TB of digital storage in with each delivery and a sticky note saying "Can Has Archival Purposes?")
Delivering them to the Seoul offices would be most likely to have the most impact (so long as there were some nice expository notes as well), but we'd need a Korean-language speaker to tell us how to place the orders and to write the notes. -
I'm thinking specifically about adding surface detail in thicknesses (wanted to say 'granularity') below the threshhold of the extruder. You can do it with acrylic paint, but the tactile feel is weird and it tends to deform. You can do it with enamel, but it's a slow and frankly stupid process and the end result is brittle (and often surprisingly lumpy, in my experience). Craft resins or some sort of polymer putty or clay are typically used but I was thinking that, hey, you're already working with something that seems kind of like a resin, couldn't you just use more of it?
And no. You could, with a great deal of protective gear, paint on layers of PLA... but it would warp the model as you were doing so.
(I... may have been a wargamer. In a past life. I swear I've reformed.) -
Quote:And at worst?Keep trying to get under my skin, its endearing at best.
But I'm not trying to get under your skin. You've taken a fairly extreme stance on an issue, and you respond preferentially to the more extreme replies to your statements. It's fairly obvious that you do care; if not about the issue at hand, then certainly about the act of provocation.
But I think you also care about the issue. Why is that, Unicorn? -
-
This seems very important to you. Do you want to talk about it?
-
No, I think he honestly believes Arcana is strictly a net-dwelling AI.
Which is kind of awesome, if you think about it.
Of course, I know better; she's a sapient dolphin. Everything fits. -

Hey guyz. Jack NoMind here; you've probably never heard of me. I'm kind of obscure.
So! It's been one heck of a week since we got news of CoH's cancellation and the end of Paragon Studios. We've heard goodbyes and not goodbyes from some of our favorite developers, and Black Pebble. A lot of tears have been shed.
...Man. A lot of tears.
But that's not why I'm here! I'm here to tell you that THE FIGHT GOES ON! Rah team Titan! TonyV stepped up almost right away to rally the troops and give us a new hope to strike back and return, yet I know he wasn't alone; many other Titan network members have been extremely active. Big props to Guy Perfect, by the way; he and the rest of the team working on Sentinel+ shipped it in record time.
So what else has happened? Well, I've got a list here of everything we've heard from NCSoft about the shutdown:
- Basically nothing.
Hm.
Okay, but what about other media? Well, there hasn't really been all that much coverage that I can OMG NEIL GAIMAN RETWEETED SAMURAIKO!.
I am never doing another sentence like that again. Seriously. You have no idea how long that looks in my little editing window, and then I clicked preview and it's like, half a line.
...Right, so, back on track. What else is going on? Well, we have a nifty little calender that one of our Project Coordinators, Leandro, created to remind us of cool events like the Unity Rally TonyV is hosting on Virtue this Saturday starting at 2PM Pacific, 5PM Eastern, 9PM Standard Time.
There's also a costume contest! Make a toon who looks like a Paragon Studios employee (not their signature character -- the employee themselves), and you could win... uh... stuff! (Hey, BaBs -- I mean, Tic-Toc. You feel like stopping by to hand out some No Prizes? I don't know what kind of contest it would be without the promise of No Prize.) Actually, there's probably going to be a TON of people hanging out, way more than Tony and pals can properly reward, so bring your own prizes to hand out to your favorites! And catgirl repellent.
Zwillinger's got the tentacles covered.
That's Ed MacMahon, kids, sidekick to the legendary Johnny Carson. I even picked him at a post Star-Search age, just for you.
Lastly, I want to give a special thank-yous to Maressa of OnRPG.com, who is basically the patron angel of collating, and Golden_Girl, who's been muy active over at Titan, and to special guest star (not featured in this program) MERCEDES FREAKING LACKEY, who's also stopped in to say hi and at least one other unprintable thing.
Want to know what that is? Well then! Stop by the Titan Networks Save Paragon City Forum!
Spoiler : it has to do with light entering the body at in an anatomically and optically unlikely way.
Now I just have to get this song out of my head, where it's been pretty stuck pretty much solidly when it's not actually playing from my speakers. Viridian, some day I'm gonna have to thank you properly, and I promise it'll almost entirely heal.
I'll be back next week. (Ha! You wish. I'm going to be around for the whole week. I just mean I'm gonna do another recap next week.) I'd like to do these vlog-style; let's see if I can figure out how one of those crazy 'video recorder devices' works.
'till then: The power is yours.
Hey. Psst. When I said "the power is yours?" That's when you do stuff. Have all your friends gotten sick of you telling them to show their support on the petition yet?
