No. Rocket boots activate for flight. Winged boots have the animation activated by running and the OP specifically said he used Super Speed. And they do NOT flap, so they are NOT like regular wings.

OP: What color? The aura, which is only around the boots, is very faint and if you set it to a dark color, it's practically invisible. I have the winged boots on a toon with light blue and white armor with the aura white. It's definitely noticeable with a light color selected.

  3. Nope, any level can get a purple. I got my first one while playing a level 36 defender.

    Done!

Of course, the exact name was taken, so I used Jenni Everywhere.

um, 'you and your ilk' don't speak for all PVE'ers. I have ZERO problem with the badges in the PvP zones and I'm a big badge hunter.

P.S. And if someone wants a reason: VARIETY. Having some of the badges in the PvP zones makes getting them a bit DIFFERENT. I like that.

You're guaranteeing that something is 'likely'? I think you misunderstand the meaning of AT LEAST one of those words.

Anyway, my statement that you can get generic'ed for an infringing NAME, independent of the costume, is correct and your 'guarantee' is hot air. Maybe the English language has more words than you realize.

    A New question-

Resist Physical Damage 4 Damage Resistance You only need 2 resist, MAYBE 3. Never 4.
Temp. Invulnerability 2 Damage resistance This needs 3. It's a HUGE amount of resistance.
Dull Pain 2 Heal This is a KEY power. You should have AT LEAST 4 slots (2 recharge, 2 heal), maybe six (3 and 3).

    Resist Elements 1 Damage Resistance
    Resist Energies 1 Damage Resistance
Most people take these much later (in the 40's).

Invincibility 1 Red. Endurance, 2 Damage resistance I assume you mean DEFENSE.
Tough Hide 1 Damage Resistance Same here - this is a DEFENSE power.

Haymaker 1 Accuracy, 1 Increase Recharge, 4 Damage No power should have more than 3 damage - waste of slots.
Taunt 1 Accuracy, 1 Increase Recharge Taunt doesn't need *ANY* accuracy except in PvP.
Knockout Blow 1 Accuracy,, I Increase Recharge, 4 Damage 3 damage.

Rest 1 Increase recharge, 3 Heal Rest never needs any slots. Ever.

Air Superiority 1 Accuracy, 4 Damage 3 damage.

I would have suggested some to-hit buff in Invincibility, except you're going to be taking Rage, so that's okay. Respec and take Resist Energies or Resist Elements (or both) later so you can get Rage sooner. Also, I assume you have Stamina and just didn't list the Fitness pool?

Oh, and why do you have Hover? You're not a range specialist, so you can't 'hoversnipe' and Footstomp will require you to be on the ground.
  10. Gratz on the bucks, but yoiks! My first thought from the screenshot was, "This toon must have some serious END problems!"

I think there are some servers that can give very compelling arguments that they are better than Victory. Offhand, I think think of TEN.

Seriously, it's great that you like your server but, if you really think the others are inferior in comparison, you're fooling yourself. As you say, "u just got learn where 2 be and who u need 2 no!" - once you learn that, EVERY server is a great place to play.

    Just my opinion tho.
And a trolling, inflammatory opinion. If you're not getting badges on schedule, that *IS* a bug and you *SHOULD* contact CS.

P.S. Might want to go easy on the cream. You're looking a little chubby in that sig pic.

Components fail. Often with no warning. One big culprit is thermal expansion. When you turn on the computer, the components heat up and expand. When you turn it off, they cool down and contract. Over time, this creates microscopic cracks in the chips and they eventually fail. It could be something small, like one circuit on a USB or SATA controller or something big, like total failure of the CPU. To say that a component has been working fine for 1/2/5/10 years doesn't really mean anything. Although, when you get into higher numbers, it becomes surprising that it has NOT failed yet.

A name *OR* costume can be found to be infringing and get generic'ed. You do NOT have to have a name and costume combo for it to infringe. So you can't make a hero named Spiderman with a green and orange costume.

What would be your (the generic 'your') reaction?
Well, previously you had to fight (NPC) enemies to get these things.
With that change, you could farm for them.

    Mapserver

Do it anyway. It's a troubleshooting step. If you only have the problem on West Coast servers, that suggests the problem lies between you and NCSoft's servers for that location and you're screwed. If you have the same issue with both coast servers, then you need to look for something else (at your end).
  20. 1) How quick is it to level on average compared to other online games?
um, bad question. What's your hurry? The goal is not 'to gain levels'. It's 'to have fun'. Getting to the level cap doesn't really mean much. Hitting 50 is not the gateway to uber content. Lots of people retire their characters when they hit 50 and start new ones. I play my 50's, but not as much as characters that are still leveling. You can gain levels much faster than previously. Some people think it's now too fast. For them, we have the option to turn off XP gain (and turn it back on any time you choose).

If you focus on it, you can get to 50 in a few weeks. I have no basis to compare with other MMO's since I have not played any others.

    2) Can one change the size/mass/appearance easily in COV ingame? Or is it all rather preset? I read you could change the costume but what about the physique?
Oh man, you can change it like you won't believe. You can't really do a convincing pixie, but you can make a character that looks about 3' fall and slight of build - or you can make one 8' tall and built like the Juggernaut.

You generally can't change build/size of a character after the initial character creation. However, this becomes possible with the optional Science Booster Pack. It lets you change body details. In fact, you can have multiple costumes, each with a totally different physique (even gender) and switch between them. Each character can eventually have FIVE costume sets which you can change between at will.

    3) I love the design and background of Lord Recluse, how does one unlock the Arachnos classes? And how do these classes work exactly? Are they prestige classes that specialize a chars powers? Or do they override?
If the part you like is the 'spider leg backpack', you're in luck. One of the 'epic' villain sets gets that. Currently, you have to get a villain to level 50 to 'unlock' that character type. This is going to be changed to level 20 to unlock it.

    4) Is it possible to do the entire game as a Recluse loyalist or is it one of those games where your hand is forced to eventually oppose his scheme(s)?
You can go all the way as a villain and you have the option of selecting a 'patron' from among his lieutenants and gaining access to different powersets.

    5) I noticed there exist gamecards for this game but given that access is at times a bit unbalanced to them, does one have to have VISA to pay for the subscription or can one just use bank transfer or paypal?
    You can use PayPal.

    6) And most vital... i heard that some people lost their chars after being gone too long. Is this the case in this game?
No. Never EVER. Anyone who said that was either clueless or lying. If you are gone a while, you MIGHT lose the *NAME* of characters under level 6 to free them up for other people. You will never lose the characters themselves.

Having said that, there have been occasions where major exploiters had characters deleted. So maybe you were hearing from a disgruntled cheater.

Ah, but now even non-PvP'ers may disagree with you. I sure as hell do. I like the Shivans and missiles exactly the way they are. If I have to risk getting attacked and deal with different combat rules to get them, I'm absolutely fine with that.

I do NOT want them nerfed and made available by other means - UNLESS they keep the 'good versions' available in the PvP zones.

derr... Obviously not. My point is that, the MAJORITY of the time, adding Taunt would accomplish nothing. And I certainly don't use a tauntless tank for something like the STF, or any Master run, or Hamidon.

I'm just saying that Taunt is NOT irreplaceable. Also, please note, I already stated earlier in this thread that most of my tanks DO have Taunt. But the right build, if you don't try something like the STF with it, really doesn't need Taunt.

Frankly, I'm equally amazed by the extremists at both positions: "All tanks must have Taunt." vs "No tank ever needs Taunt."
