The bubbles DO indicate load, which is usually a reasonable proxy for population. They do NOT indicate 'percent of utilization', which is what you seem to be suggesting. The amount of hardware available has no bearing on the bubbles. They reflect how much load the player population is generating. Fifty masterminds generate a much higher load than 50 tanks. But, all other things being equal, it's more or less the same as population.

I know. They always manage to somehow forget about all the paid expansions and the Mutant/Cyber/Magic/etc packs. Back in the 'Golden Days' everything was always included in the monthly subscription.... except the stuff that wasn't.

Flight is way more reliable. You can get a jet pack for 10,000 inf in either Grandville or Firebase Zulu (depending on your alignment). You can also get a recipe as a drop, or from the Atlas Park Safeguard/Mayhem mission.

No. The argument is that your build is sub-optimal FOR THE GAME YOU ARE PLAYING. Don't compare with other people. Compare to the fact that the game AS DESIGNED is not awarding you that badge because your build doesn't really work well for the event AS DESIGNED.

Okay, so it's a special purpose build. Fine. I understand you don't solo with it. Okay. But badge-hunting is clearly also an issue FOR THAT BUILD.


BTW, I came across your other thread first and made a much longer post there with two suggestions on how to fix the problem (having pets and having someone buff you) and an offer to help if you're on Infinity.

That statement refers to INCARNATE TRIALS, which have no relation to the zone events. So disregard it.


The situation as you describe it sucks. Barring a change to the mechanics of the event, I can suggest a possible solution. You need to increase "your" damage output. I see two ways to do this.
1) Pets. Anyone can obtain various pets: War Wolf Whistle from a Striga Isle arc, Shivan Shard from Bloody Bay - there are more, but those are the big hitters that are easy to obtain. Any damage done by a pet you summon counts as YOU doing the damage.
2) Buffs. Run it with another support character. Empathy, Kinetics and other sets can increase your damage output. Radiation, Sonic and others can debuff the enemy so you inflict more damage.
3) Both of the above.


If you're on Infinity, I have all of the above mentioned support sets and can help. My characters on other servers are mostly tanks and blasters.

VIP subscriptions *DO* include new updates.
Does it include *ALL* new content? No. But the subscription never included all content in the past, either. Please see: Going Rogue, Mutant Pack, Cyber Pack, etc, etc, etc.

You can call it sarcasm or you can call it reality.
This is how the game works. I explained what you need to unlock and why, plus possible ways around the problem. Okay, you don't like it. We've seen similar complaints a thousand times, but this is a business and you will never ever get access to everything for free.

Conversely, before the game went FTP/hybrid/whatever, we didn't have people complaining about not getting enough stuff for free. And there has been *A LOT* of that.

Some people come in with well thought out opinions about the pros and cons of the new system. Unfortunately, though, some people (not saying you) come in here wailing like banshees that they can't have everything they want and it gets tiresome.


To be fair, though, this exact point was addressed in an episode of Extra Credits and they made a really good point. One of the people involved in that series is a game developer and consultant and was basically asked, "How many non-paying players should we build server capacity for?" His answer was, "As many as you can get. Here's why: In an MMO, PLAYERS ARE CONTENT."
Even if they never pay NCSoft a cent, they still have VALUE to the game.

Not that I'd ever heard. Also, it makes zero sense. One system has absolutely nothing to do with the other. If it's true, it's a change and it was done with no announcement. That particularly makes me skeptical since this can in no way be considered an exploit.

And there you go! It's something new. That's it. Not everyone is going to like every set. This was equally true of the earlier 'non gimmick' powersets.

I read up on Dual Blades. It did not appeal to me. I do not play it.
I read up on Beam Rifle. Sounded good so I made one. I'm happy with it.
I read up on Street Justice. Sounded good so I made one. I'm happy with this one, too.
Water Blast sounds like it might be interesting. I haven't really looked at it carefully yet since I already have too many active toons. Once one of them hits 50......

There's been like a dozen threads about this. It's apparently related to them separating the account management systems of the different games.

It was always there. I think it was put in so we all could once again experience the joy of being level 1. MUAHAHAHAHAHA!

They had to shut it down for sound business reasons. It was NECESSARY. If they lost money, too damn bad.

Like I said earlier, I work for a steel company. Every summer they shut down the furnaces, tear them down and rebuild them for preventive maintenance. Does that mean we can't produce steel during that time? Yeah, but so what? It has to be done.

Not true.
While the two sets of numeric keys are recognize as different KEYS, the output they produce are identical. "4" from the main keyboard and "4" from the numeric keypad are exactly the same.

Oh, and I'll give the standard reply here:
Back in the day, if you didn't pay a fee every month, you had access to NOTHING.
So you're complaining that you're not getting enough for FREE. Okay.
