Quote:What, they didn't tell you the secret handshake?Being a bit bored later in the day, I decided to run the "Join Ouroboros" arc. I can't help but think there should be a badge for this... I mean, I have a badge to say I've joined the Midnighters, I have a badge to say I've joined the Vanguard, but what proof do I have that I really joined Ouroboros?
How about the key to Lazarus' liquor cabinet; did you get that? -
The bubbles DO indicate load, which is usually a reasonable proxy for population. They do NOT indicate 'percent of utilization', which is what you seem to be suggesting. The amount of hardware available has no bearing on the bubbles. They reflect how much load the player population is generating. Fifty masterminds generate a much higher load than 50 tanks. But, all other things being equal, it's more or less the same as population.

I know. They always manage to somehow forget about all the paid expansions and the Mutant/Cyber/Magic/etc packs. Back in the 'Golden Days' everything was always included in the monthly subscription.... except the stuff that wasn't.

Flight is way more reliable. You can get a jet pack for 10,000 inf in either Grandville or Firebase Zulu (depending on your alignment). You can also get a recipe as a drop, or from the Atlas Park Safeguard/Mayhem mission.

Quote:No. The argument is that your build is sub-optimal FOR THE GAME YOU ARE PLAYING. Don't compare with other people. Compare to the fact that the game AS DESIGNED is not awarding you that badge because your build doesn't really work well for the event AS DESIGNED.So the arguement is, "my build is wrong, yours is right"?
Okay, so it's a special purpose build. Fine. I understand you don't solo with it. Okay. But badge-hunting is clearly also an issue FOR THAT BUILD.
BTW, I came across your other thread first and made a much longer post there with two suggestions on how to fix the problem (having pets and having someone buff you) and an offer to help if you're on Infinity. -
Quote:That statement refers to INCARNATE TRIALS, which have no relation to the zone events. So disregard it.Also, it would seem to me, that the Rewards menu would not have presented itself if I had NOT directly participated. Also, I did some research on the forums, and according to Baryonyx,
"Once a player qualifies for a component reward, the final block of choices presented to the player are rolled randomly. If you qualified for a component reward, you reached the level of participation for yourself and your league needed to have a chance at any component type."
The situation as you describe it sucks. Barring a change to the mechanics of the event, I can suggest a possible solution. You need to increase "your" damage output. I see two ways to do this.
1) Pets. Anyone can obtain various pets: War Wolf Whistle from a Striga Isle arc, Shivan Shard from Bloody Bay - there are more, but those are the big hitters that are easy to obtain. Any damage done by a pet you summon counts as YOU doing the damage.
2) Buffs. Run it with another support character. Empathy, Kinetics and other sets can increase your damage output. Radiation, Sonic and others can debuff the enemy so you inflict more damage.
3) Both of the above.
If you're on Infinity, I have all of the above mentioned support sets and can help. My characters on other servers are mostly tanks and blasters. -
Quote:VIP subscriptions *DO* include new updates.Gotta admit that if wasn't completely addicted to this game I would have left once VIP suscriptions didn't include new updates too.
Does it include *ALL* new content? No. But the subscription never included all content in the past, either. Please see: Going Rogue, Mutant Pack, Cyber Pack, etc, etc, etc. -
You can call it sarcasm or you can call it reality.
This is how the game works. I explained what you need to unlock and why, plus possible ways around the problem. Okay, you don't like it. We've seen similar complaints a thousand times, but this is a business and you will never ever get access to everything for free. -
Quote:Conversely, before the game went FTP/hybrid/whatever, we didn't have people complaining about not getting enough stuff for free. And there has been *A LOT* of that.Honestly, there's a lot of big names on these forums who I thought were pretty darn cool back in the day, but a lot of them seemed to have been turned into serious jerks after this game went free.
Some people come in with well thought out opinions about the pros and cons of the new system. Unfortunately, though, some people (not saying you) come in here wailing like banshees that they can't have everything they want and it gets tiresome.
Quote:Every player logged in is a cost. If not every player pays then the question is how many paying players are needed to support the ones playing for free.
Companies do not make a little bit a profit on every sale, they only make a profit after they sell enough to cover their costs, then the next item sold, after material and production costs, is pure profit. In the case of MMOs, players playing free aren't helping the company to cover their fix costs. The company hopes that some of those free players will be willing to pay something but if they don't they are simply a cost on the wrong side of the balance sheet.
Even if they never pay NCSoft a cent, they still have VALUE to the game. -
Quote:If I lose the name Ironblade on there, I'd probably just ditch the whole thing. You would have to create new ones and hope your isn't taken. It's a good point, I'm going to add that to my list o' things to consider, possibly setting up some kind of reserved name system where for a month or so, you can't use any existing Titan usernames, and then they'd be released for anyone.

Quote:You stole mine. I've run this 4 more times since my previous post and still no procs. My numbers:
A/D - 6
A/D/E - 3
A/D/E/R - 4
Proc - 10
D/E/R - 1
E/R - 5
Apparently, I'm making up for everyone else's missing procs...
Quote:Ive run this event about a dozen times the past day and have gotten no procs. Anyone else getting these results? -
Not that I'd ever heard. Also, it makes zero sense. One system has absolutely nothing to do with the other. If it's true, it's a change and it was done with no announcement. That particularly makes me skeptical since this can in no way be considered an exploit.

Well.....
Quote:They are "different",
I read up on Dual Blades. It did not appeal to me. I do not play it.
I read up on Beam Rifle. Sounded good so I made one. I'm happy with it.
I read up on Street Justice. Sounded good so I made one. I'm happy with this one, too.
Water Blast sounds like it might be interesting. I haven't really looked at it carefully yet since I already have too many active toons. Once one of them hits 50...... -
Quote:There's been like a dozen threads about this. It's apparently related to them separating the account management systems of the different games. And I just tried to log in to check if my billing had cleared up and it doesn't recognize the username or email address that I've been using on my master account for something like 5 years.
*sigh*
I don't have time to deal with this now. Maybe latter I'll check it again and call support if it's not working still. -

Quote:Either way, it's irrelevant. Get over it!While it is perfectly true that there is no place else to get CoH product, it is also true that some people will spend their leisure dollars on some other pastime if they can't make a purchase naoooow. It is the nature of modern instant gratification society. That is why I included "I wonder" in the title of the thread. I am certain that there were some sales lost, and various posters may be correct in their Assumption that the numbers and amounts lost are trivial, but we are all just speculating.
They had to shut it down for sound business reasons. It was NECESSARY. If they lost money, too damn bad.
Like I said earlier, I work for a steel company. Every summer they shut down the furnaces, tear them down and rebuild them for preventive maintenance. Does that mean we can't produce steel during that time? Yeah, but so what? It has to be done. -
On a side note, the game isn't really 'free to play'; it's a hybrid business model. As a Premium player, there are a lot of things you have to buy access to, and a few that you can't access at all. If you decide you like the game and are happy to be back, you might want to subscribe. Just $15 per month and that's some pretty damn cheap entertainment.
FYI, look at the forum names. White names are Premium and gold names are VIP (paying a subscription fee). Lots of people are still paying and feel it's well worth it (I have two accounts - both VIP). -
-
There is a restriction on how much currency a character can have *IF* they are Premium *AND* very low on the reward tiers. You only need to be 2nd tier to be able to hold half a billion inf.
-
Quote:Oh, and I'll give the standard reply here:I don't remember if they were automatically unlocked when I was paying, or if I bought them while I was paying, either way it seems extremely unfair that I now have to pay for the ability to play my own ATs.
Back in the day, if you didn't pay a fee every month, you had access to NOTHING.
So you're complaining that you're not getting enough for FREE. Okay. -
The hero and villain epic archetypes are only available by purchase or by being VIP. So pretty much yes. It's not that you're buying your character; you're buying the ability to use that powerset.
Masterminds and controllers are also restricted but those can be unlocked by having enough vet time. (Or buying your way up the Paragon Rewards tiers.) -
Quote:Ah. I was confused by this line until I got to the second paragraph. So I bought this game last month, it cost me $60 USD to play.
You bought *A* game, which was not City of Heroes, and had a problem. I was reading it literally; "So I bought THIS game last month".
