Man I miss reading reading the posts by a lot of the folks you mentioned. Thanks for staying around with us Arcanville.

Slot up swift, sprint (or prestige sprint), and slot as many gift of the ancients 7.5 run buffs as you can. Some other sets also give run bonus at only 2 or 3 slots so look at them as well. You can get pretty fast just using these steps and will look quick in combat. This is especially effective if you have a run buff power that does not supress in your set as well. Rad and SR come to mind.
Get the martial arts pack and use ninja run or pick up superapeed for long range travel. Kinetics is great fun with ninja run.
SS get combat jumping and add a slot to hurdle to get over barriers while running. That celerity for steath is a great suggestion. If get combat jumping you can put the steath IO for jumping in there and it works if you turn the ss off to avoid supression.
You can get intangible powers from Warburg or from temps so I would not waste a power pick on them. -
OOpps my bad! Did not read far enough up and could not believe someone actually scooped Nether on a market issue
. Thanks for the advice.
60mil now. -
Good advice Nethergoat I have lots of alts to play with. Some of them are even holding some good reciepes that need to be crafted.
35 mil now BTW 12 and items for sale. -
Well I took 23X's altruistic donation and tried to make some profit rather than just spend it on IOs. So far I have gottne it up to 25 mil just by buying IOs crafting and then selling the finished product. Unfortunatly I have hit a market jam. All of my slots are full and nothing has moved for a bit. I am think of pulling some uncrafted receipes I had up for 100 and just vendoring them to clear the space. Think I have 18 slots to work with at the moment. I am going spend a little more to try for some more desirable crafted receipes next to see if they will move faster.
Thanks again 23X -
Thanks for the assist 23x. I accept @iron specter. I play in the market all the time and build a lot of set IOs. I have very sporadic play time though so I earn rewards slowly and stay broke. A lot of my characters need enhancements. I like to build out with generic IOs then add sets when I can. Any help is appreciated.

78 on my main account around 70? on my second account. The reason I stay is I am still having fun. I consider around $30 a month cheap for the amount of entertainment the game provides. I do a little of everything the game offers so when I get bored with one aspect I just focus on another for awhile. I also love making new characters and each one has to get to level 30 at least so I can see how they play.

Go to the market section of the forum. http://boards.cityofheroes.com/forumdisplay.php?f=584
There are some great guides on how to make more than enough inf using the market to support any slotting you would like to do. Even if you use teh AE method suggested you will want to use some of the ideas in the market guides to get the most for your effort. -
Thanks Ketch . That is just what I was looking for. I thought the combo looked too good to be as rare as it is and I think you explained it. I can get around that little draw back period. Thanks for the app help. Earth sounds good. I am a bit of a stickler on how powers look with the concept though so I will have to wait and see. I will fire up the character creator as soon as Pratoria is available. I would like to start there.

It would be great if they did this as a starblazer's type movie.
Imagine the earth battered and beaten by invading aliens. the last resistors are a mix of military survivors and civilian volunteers. They encounter a hidden group of scientist and technicians working on deciphering an ancient technology or finishing the lastest secret breakthrough device. They make the breakthrough in the new powersource and earths last chance but lack the resources to build a ship. someone remembers the old mothballed WWII battle ships. They have been forgottne and ar still mostly intact. There is an insuring desperate bid to retrofit the breakthrough technology to the old battle ships and get them working in time to stop the final assault. All while avioding and fighting off the alien advnce guard
Then you get a final battle scene with the old battle ship rising up in their antigravity force field and pivioting the gun turrets to fire photon cannons to kick the crap out of some evil aliens. While crews struggled to keep the cobbled together parts working.
I think it could be a great movie. -
I wanted to make a new controller and noticed I have not seen the fire/ forcefield combo very often and there are no guides on it. I think I would like to give it a try. I was considering fighting and/ or leadership as power pools to augment the defenses.
Would anyone with some experience with this combo be willing to give me some suggestions on how to make this a fun build. I solo and team in about equal measure and have access to all the veteran attacks. My only other controller is a 50 Earth /Storm and I still love to play it. Would like to experience that leveling fun again. -
If you are not going to slot it for damage I would drop moonbeam and pick up another one of the leadership pool powers.

I have been enjoying ergo proxy.

I never even realized there was a rep bar until I saw this thread. Muhaha off to use my new found power to rep people for random reasons.
-
My horde of perpetually broke characters wish to expess their jealous hatered for this entire thread. Cool screen shot though.

I play a Dark/ice that is currently 35 and is turning out to be a good solo defender. Tarpatch-ice storm-Frost breath is an effective combo. the character is hard to kill and does good area damage. Ability to cap slow and hold a boss is good for keeping mobs in the damage area. A good single target attack is icing. I will have to get to the epics before I can see if I get enough area attacks to kill fast enough to be a farmer though. This is my best solo defender though and therefore the one I would give the best chance of making it down on the farm.

I have a small place to call my own. I have two accounts and that makes a solo SG a lot easier but is not necessary. My base has eight teleporters, a med bay, 5 salvage storage bins, an inspiration bin, enhancement table, 2 temporary enhancment stations, vault, invention table, pillar of fire and ice, a control romm that produces 800 con, and an energy room turning out 1300 eng.
I started with a combo unit, two teleporters, vault ,invention table and one storage rack.
Having your own base is a minigame in itself. I love playing around with it. The next step is to earn enough prestige to place my autodoc, turbine generator and supercomputer.
Start with the basics. Put in all the characters that your account will hold even if you have to create a few to max your starting prestige. Play in sg mode all the time. Defeat many foes and enjoy the game. You will have enough prestige to build a great base in a short time.
Vigilant Guard is my nearly solo (kids play the second account) SG on Virtue.
Have fun! -
There is only one acceptable sign that you have grown too old for City of Heroes.
Eminent decoposition. -
Love Comfychair's ideas.
I am guessing all sets are pretty unlikely at this point.
I would like to see a light set. I can think of some good powers to put in the set and we need the antithesis to dark. -
Street fighting and density control
Second choice psi weapons and Force fields.
Plaes give these to both ATs. Also woudl like to see more sets crossed between the two. Like Firey melee adn dark melee. -
I like them. I never really noticed them being paticularly hard. The first couple of times I thought it was a graphic glitch that caused them to disappear and was about to bug it :-). After that I figured out the tricks to get them.

Stalkers are where they need to aim the nerf bat. If they were eliminated as the FOTM villain in PVP. They could stop nerfing every power that works against them. You might even see some of the other villain achtypes on accaasion.
BTW corruptors are the villain answer to basters and from what I have seen they make short work of stormies and are a good challenge for blasters. Brutes vs Tanks, scrappers vs stalkers, corruptors vs blasters. MM vs defenders, dominator vs controller. It is all a pretty good match up until the last one. They should not try to balance the fact that doms suck in pvp by constantly buffing stalkers for the hero VS villain wars. Leave the stormies alone.
I have not seen the abuses you describe. I always beat stormies with my scrapper and controller. Their damage is low and controls soft. Admittedly I don't have a villain high enough to compete. Only stalkers and bad players seem to have problems with them. -
This power did not require a pvp nerf even. It was good but far from overwhelming. It does not even rank in the top ten pvp powers. There are several powers that negate it already and dozens of ways to just avoid it. the range and accuracy debuffs were almost meaningless. anyone close enough to get hit with it did not need the range anyway and a couple yellows overcomethe debuff with room to spare. Not to metion these power does not belong toa high defense set. Most PVPer can hit right through it because the accuracy is so high to hit the well defended. The push is the main benefit. If they break it why bother. the power is part of a whole set and without it storm is under powered for defenders.

They claim this was a nerf to prevent corner trapping. I don't agree with it being required. That was hard to do on an alert player to begin with and it trapped the person doing it as well as the one in the corner so was not that useful and therefore not common. It ruins the main advantage of the storm set and storm lacks a lot to gain that advantage. What good is a push power that can't push anyone. It was a great power before against melee and usless against ranged. Now it is still useless against ranged and only fair against melee. You also lose some of the positioning advantage it gave. this is a huge hit to storm defenders and an minor hit to controllers who relied less on the hurricane's advantages. I think this is a badly thought out and unnecessary nerf.
