Quote:/agree for pve follow what gandolf said.. lol (i keep quoting you but keep forgetting your name all i can remember is gandolf lol)If you have endurance issues, go for Cardiac, but I would think you should be able to moderate those well enough that you could go for Spiritual (which would help a lot with all the long recharge powers PBs get, as well as getting Conserve Power up faster). I went Spiritual on my PB and it's pretty nice, allowing for build up and other attacks to be increased, as well as my heals. If you're not hurting for recharge or endurance, I could see going for more damage, perhaps. I'd still say go spiritual unless you have enough global recharge that Hasten is perma or close to it.
Judgement, go for what is fun, though you could easily color Void to look like PB powers (and with no end drain to use it!). I'm probably going to do that for my Peacebringer (going to start running him in trials soon, after I get my Controller to all T3 levels).
Interface, Diamagnetic's -to hit is awesome if you want more survivability. If you want more damage, I'd go with Reactive. I'm not sure the others will help much for a PB, since you already do plenty of -defense already, and won't have any slows to stack (and I'd say I prefer -to hit for more survivability than to have added slows).
Destiny, well, Clarion seems a clear bet, especially for you. You don't have any mez protection (unless your build has Acrobatics running, but that will only cover one hold against you), so that will help you keep blasting away. I'm going for Clarion on my Peacebringer. I could see going for Ageless, but if you have any endurance or recharge issues, I'd say it's better to cover those with your Alpha slot and grab Clarion. You have two heals in human form, so hopefully you don't need Rebirth, either.
Lore... I'd say you could go for theme there, more than anything. If you want damage, Warworks and Cimerorans seem to do a lot, but none of them are too far off, from what I recall being posted. If you'd rather more survivability, going for one of the sets with good buffs or debuffs can help. Seers support casts a weakened version of Fortitude on you (think about 5ish defense to all, along with some to hit and damage), and storm elementals run around with a hurricane version that doesn't send foes flying too much, but debuffs their range and to hit. I'm going with Polar Lights for thematics on my PB, but I'm not sure what their support does. I might just go for a stronger boss with him.
also the polar lights support side does the essence heal. I have the second teir one and it heals me for 250 and it also has Assault. Which gvies i think either 10% bonus to dmg or 13% cant remember but now im sitting at 30+% dmg bonus on my pb..
If your going to pvp with ya pb get
Musculature
Reactive
ion
rebirth/or barrier preferable rebirth to play like a regen/invlun style
and any lore pet.. i have three and depends on what situation i switch it up.. warworks is sick dmg.. but like i said polar lights is cool for the heal and also it does pb blast and hard to see so the enemy doesnt know if the attack is coming from a pet. to search out and kill that pet.. seers is cool for the fort.. -
Quote:"Premise" is a word that basically means foundation. So, for what I was responding to, neither Dominators or Kheldians have a flawed foundation. Dominators did not have their entire foundation changed with their revamp, they had their "Domination or nothing" aspect adjusted, so Domination is still nice, but it's not the whole basis by which they have to exist. Their premise is still the same, with the ability to crowd control and do some damage, with their Primary being accentuated by their Inherent power, Domination.
Kheldians have had their premise clouded like Domination: special enemies that do special damage, having their damage be down when they are solo, etc. Those things have been mostly peeled away, but not entirely. As you pointed out, the time shapeshifting takes inhibits things for the premise of Kheldians still, among other things.
But I am not saying they don't need changes, they do. I'm just going to resist anyone saying Kheldians have a flawed premise, because they don't. They have a fun concept behind them (or since some get hung up on the term "fun," the concept is one that can be effective), and there is further adjusting needed to making it happen. People have been pretty united in the idea of their needing an adjustment, so I don't think anything is holding back the developers there.
People tend to paint pictures overly dark, and I rather hate that. So that's why I jumped on the "flawed premise" statement. There aren't any broken ATs in CoH... you can do well with any AT out there. Some still need adjusting to get more in line with the others, however, probably Kheldians and Stalkers, mostly.
yeah i agree with this.. people are calling for a whole revamp.. but we really dont need that...
I and a couple of others pvp every night with peacebringers.. yes peacebringers.. and have many solo and team kills.. its even crazier when a team of peacebringers is stalking the zone.. Albeit that all of our pb's are io'd to the brim but with a lil love the AT is gleaming... And alot of people like how pb's play in pve..
Its not a overhaul we need its just fine tuning, and fixing.. WS are pretty much ok..
just shorten animation of the shifting time.
and suppress toggles not detoggle them while switching.
raise their mez components and make their inherent more useable while solo and boom bamm their fixed..
pb's i think needs
1. Inherent fix so its useable while solo.
2. Photon seekers fix so. preferable changed to a targeted aoe. or has mm controls so it can home in on desired target and shorten the recharge time.
3.Get rid of group fly, and give us something with tohit buff or maybe a mez resist/ resistance debuff protection... auto or toggle.. or rechargeable is fine..
4. Give light form Def shorten the duration to 30sec.. shorten the recharge to 120sec enhanceable. keep the animation, i like my light ball...
5.Raise the dmg modifier so we do a little more dmg.
6. Shorten the time it takes to switch to form, and make it so its un inturuptable
7. Last but not least suppress the toggles while in form instead of shutting them off.. i think the biggest prob why people would rather stay away from farms is the shifting time, and having to retoggle them when going back to human.. on my pb personally i have 9 toggles to re apply in a hot pvp zone.. that the main reason i dropped back to all human build.. that heal in dwarf is not that great if you cant escape or fight after you change. -
Quote:/agreeeIt's really simple for me: I use breakfrees and play the character like a Blapper. There's no way to avoid using breakfrees on an all-human build. If you don't want to depend on breakfrees then you should try the hybrid build.
You can't use light form while mezzed. -
Quote:lol yeah i mean in the sence of the community commin up with crasy ideas for the AT.. both AT'S are great AT'S that have good powers.. it just has to be polishsed and brought up to todays standards..Agreed. VEATs are great and all but there's not a chance in hell I'd wanna see Kheldians cludged into something like them.
This is pretty much the meat of it as far as I can tell. We can (And probably will) go back and forth for days about all the rest but these points are indisputable.
Unfortunately this part is. Really, you can't talk about adjusting damage without considering Cosmic Balance. For good or ill, you've gotta balance PBs around it.
The up side to that is it means you can effectively kill two birds with one stone. I think we can all agree that our inherent is unfairly balanced toward teaming. It does absolutely nothing for us solo and, with Vigilance now adjusted, it's the only remaining inherent that does so. So let's focus on that first. Taking into account all the suggestions that have already been made, how can Cosmic Balance be changed to benefit us solo without making Kheldians OP on teams?
also i agree the root problem is the inherant.. change that and then they can tweak and lift as they see fit and then we will be in business. -
Quote:YEAH DEF NO VEAT CLONEBill, I guess the question is, are two minds in one body Stronger, or Weaker against Psionic damage/control?
<aside>
AshWind and everyone else who thinks this is a good idea: Please stop. The VEAT build-tree is a Curse, not a blessing.
The Devs are NOT going to do a fundamental re-write of the whole Kheldian AT. Keldians are 'epic' because they have a strong storyline that is fundamental to the game. To change the nature of Kheldians would require retconning the whole game - it's Not going to happen!
What's more, those of us who Like Kheldians actually Like the way they work and we'd hunt you down and neuter you with a dull spoon, if you tried to make Kheldians into a clone of VEATs.
</aside>
Anyway, I honestly do like the idea that there ought to be some basic powers that carry over to the forms, besides Inherent Fitness. Frankly, I don't really see why the shields Don't carry over - Except that they could conceivably make Human form redundant and make Nova and Dwarf rather OP. I also don't see why Pool Powers don't carry over into the Forms, since they are independent of the core AT - No other AT has to go without their Pool Powers during the course of doing what they do.
Be Well!
Fireheart
just fix seekers
fix the inherants
and raise dmg...
there kheldians fix
its not that difficult -
Fix for pb
-Knock back to knockdown
-Pulsar mag raised to 4
-Qflight reduce end drain
-Raise dmg modifiers
- Seekers reduce recharge change to Targeted AOE (but can hit any enemy in between you and intended target)
- Like psyrene said change light form to more a shadow meld or a MOG.. short durations short recharge.. and give it 75% def to all and 45% resistance duration 20 seconds, take out the crash also keep the animation..
-Instead of group flight Give us a power like fire Embrace.. Potential to raise our light energy dmg..
- Shorten the durations of shifting
-Suppress shields in forms.. instead of detoggling
- Give pb resistance debuff prot and End drain prot
- Mez rez in each shield
WS fix
knock back to knockdown
- Change grav snare to a target aoe
- Change all ws shields to def base, so it stacks well with cloak
- Leave eclipse how it is with resistance so it can be a great layered def with the ws defensive shields.
- Put def debuff resistance, slow debuff resistance in all shields.
- Shorten the durations of shifting
-suppress shields in forms.. instead of detoggling
-Give Orbital Death slows.
-Raise all the mags of the WS mez powers.
- Mez rez in each shield -
Elec/therm is wiked.. espiecially if he is using any melee.. his end will drop so fast and all his toggles..
if you dont like that though, you can go elec/fire dom.... -
I would go like this..
Edit changed light form because of slot conflict.. here is the edit

Quote:slot it how you slot any other toon.. there's nothing special about it.And just how ... pray tell ... did you slot your kitchen sink? o.O;
Im assuming the original poster is playing pve in teams so he can slot with DO'S and still get a fun experience.
But if he wants a specific build made up then he can inbox me..
Was just putting my opinion in there.. -
As a scrapper user predominantly with 5 50 scrappers.. imho the closest thing to a scrapper is a human form pb or human dwarf....
get eyes, blast, radiant strike, incandescent strike, and solar flare, also seekers..
jump pool for acro
hasten
assault tactics, vengeance if you can fit it.
tough
All shields all, all heals, qflight, and light form..
if you have to take out something you can take out gleaming blast..
and there you have a scrapper in pb form... -
I like all the ideas, so i decided to steal from all to make my idea hope ya dont mind
K Like mercury says you press the seekers but they auto home in on the target you have. However only two out of the 3 seekers is a bomb.. The other is a range pet like voltic that will remain with you till the 300 duration.
The second effect it has is that other posters (sorry cant remember your name) said. Once the 2 seekers hit they have a chance to spawn three more bombs that do weaker dmg, which those inturn have a chance to spawn three more at weaker dmg and weaker chance and so on and so on...
So you press seeker.
2 goes to target detonate
1 stays by your side blasting away
it stays on a 300 timer
2 of the first bombs have a chance to make 3 more bombs and so on so forth..
this might be a fun idea.. -
like psy said.. we have been arguing about this since.. a couple off week before i13 was live.. and the devs did nothing..
But if you want a real answer here it is..
Get rid of DR
Get rid of Travel Suppresion: and keep it for melee toons .. so if a melee toon hits you.. you get suppressed and the melee toon is suppressed.
Get rid of Heal decay
I liked the mez changes because getting perma held was supper annoying.. but now getting mezzed is ok.. and a dom/troller is still a powerful toon on the field..
I also like the changes to tough applying to all dmg
raising dmg was also nice.. also raising the dmg for slower attacks is great idea.. because in pvp slowing down or stopping is a death sentence..
If they took the first things out, kept the others, and we have our incarnates, then pvp would be alot better..
BUT THIS IS MY OPINION OF COURSE. -
Quote:WELCOME TO THE fold bro''Yeah, I know, I haven't really gotten the PvE thing down yet, but as part of my new project I was going to make two characters and play/rest cycle them to stave off a burn out and boost leveling. I've got a good concept for my first character down and have no idea what to roll for a second.
I know that PvE doesn't really translate well to PvP (I'm assuming a little here) and figured I could gear my second toon a little more towards PvP. I've messed around in quite a few arena matches on Freedom and the rating system, as well as the dynamic opponents got me hooked a little bit. It's like Counter-Strike with superpowers. I can't wait to take myself into the zones later.
I was just curious how you get a start in PvP. Are there any guidelines to go by? Anything I should avoid because it's broken/useless. I was thinking of a blaster because it sound easier than having to get in Melee and chase down a moving target (I currently run a Kinetic Melee Scrapper with Super Reflexes, I've been told it's a bit sub-optimal). I was thinking of making a Stalker with a similar load-out and seeing where that went. I just didn't want to dive in without a basic understanding of what's going on.
On a side note: I'm assuming the Villains, need more men. I think I may have to go red-side for this one.
Well imho play what you feel you will have fun with first get the concept.. then you can make a cookie cutter pvp toon.. but thats my opinion.. Your KM is prob one of the strongest melee out there now in pvp outside of stalkers.. utilize the range powers + epic rang power+ the last attack..
However if you want to just go out there and rip, i would suggest you go with a dom or blaster..
You wont have the shield strength as u do on ya scrap.. but you will like the dmg/mez.. plus in pvp After DR shield strength is really up in the air..
Lol when my kheldian has more = shield strength and hp as my scrapper/tanks then you know pvp is backwards. -
what about q flight...
That thing is like not worth turning on if i use it ..half of my toggles out of the 8 have to turn off. -
Its funny last week on my way to work i was thinking about exactly this.. someone had said a quote i cant remember who, basically it was something like
"pb on a team plays like please give me a buff for my inherent, and ws play like weather you give me the buff or not i will still cap that with my own powers.." The route didn't go exactly like that but you get the idea..
anyway ever since i saw that ive been thinking that the inherents would prob be the quickest fix.. if they didn't want to fix the two AT'S..
I was thinking for pb's let them reflect the At's they team with since that is the recurring theam.
So for example pbs have a scrapper/stalker on the team, they would get a small chance to land a critical
Defender/Corrupter there debuff increases whit those AT's on team, also they receive some debuff resistence.
Controller/Dominators: pbs mez increases also their mez resistance plus a mag of protection for each AT.
BLASTERS: The dmg gets increased.
SOA: Increase in pool powers such as Assault, tactics and stealth..
Now for solo, they can give us the options of roles.. so no ones on the team a drop down box would appear next to name or something and you have a choice which AT you would like to mimic..
So say I wanted the keep my resistance but get a lil dmg boost in critical i would switch to scrapper role and run like that..
Or say I want a crasy amount of damage I would switch to blaster role. but my shields would drop say a half resistance to what they normally give.
And so on so fourth..
So solo we get to pick roles, on a team we would have the roles defined depending on how much of each AT is on the team..
In solo mode you will get a significant amount to make solo easier, while in team mode you will get a static amount so that its not too over powerful.
For Ws i think the inherent should be so something new.. that would benefit shades.. i always thought shades needed more defense and longer mez.. so maybe they can get a bar similar to fury/domination..
the longer the shade fights the bar fills up .. you also have a button associated with the bar, at any point you can hit this button , which will give the shade +def +rez to mes+ more mez duration in its own powers.
The more the bar fills up .. the more power you get out of the button. the button should be on a timer and the bar can not fill up while the button is activated..
Lol well thats just my ideas.. please number crunchers do your thing and critique and ad on.. i doubt in the next 20 issues we would ever see change but its cool to dream... So add on please.
EDIT EDIT EDIT
Just thougth about the teaming part of the inherent.. that can actually stay where it is now.. there is nothing wrong with that.. the prob for pb is solo.. i want to be able to solo 53 on my pb.. so role swapping would maybe help that....
So disregard the first part of my post. The current inherent is much more beneficial to team and still benefits the kheldian.. but the second part about the solo is where its at.. -
ok just tested it.. it de toggles the shields.. but its still quicker than the bind i was using. which was hit c to go into dwarf and c again to heal.. this i just hold down c and let it go.... then i can just hit ss and sj and reactivate shields...
ehhh ill take it for now.. DEVS please look about suppressing toggles informs.. not detoggling them!!!! -
Quote:Okay, so after reading joe's helpful bind list and also reading through a bind guide i have a simple question about toggle keys.
I observed the bind that Smiling Joe himself gave me to execute dwarf heal from human mode using a toggle key and it worked like a charm:
Now with this in mind, i looked back onto the old double stomp bind, again in joe's post:
From here i came up with the idea to combine the same nature of the heal bind i was given, with the double stomp bind. My question here is, is there a way to set a "toggle key" to activate a bind upon press & hold such as:
/bind [key] "+down$$powexec_auto white dwarf flare$$powexec_name white dwarf"
but also set the same key to execute human flare (auto or not) when the key is lifted (and the above bind is turned off.)
I'd normally just toy with the bind myself, but i don't have access to the game at home to do so.
As a re-cap, i'm looking to set a toggle key to put me into dwarf mode, execute an auto dwarf flare, then take me out of dwarf form, turn off the auto-flare, and execute the human form flare (then turn off all autos, i despise my forgetful habit of leaving my auto-fires on and wasting them) This will, hopefully, make a togglekey for a double flare, that can be executed WITHOUT being in dwarf mode AND will turn off all autos..
wait wait wait wait wait!!!!!
ARE YOU SAYING that i can execute the dwarf heal without shifting into dwarf? also does that make my toggles drop?
If this is true, this is prob the best thing to pvp pb since incarnates lol..
And if its true that means i would have 4 heals, and my shields.. i would really be regen then -
-
khelds do need attention
imho the biggest fix that will go along way would be to suppress toggles once switch into forms..
so example i run the 3 shields, tough, tactics, assault and acro, and the travel powers. So when i switched to dwarf to heal they should suppress the effects of it and the end..
Run around in dwarf a lil heal.. then switch back to human.. like nothing happened... this would help alot.. esp in pvp..
Its like 2 years to reapply everything after i switch to dwarf just to heal. -
what i have used on my kat invuln and i have done this in pvp..
is shadow meld right before i drop.. and turn off travels and or tactics.. anything end heavy.. then when life drops quickly hit dull pain.. and turn on what i turned off..
So i have all shields still runnning.. def high.. and enough end to use dull pain.. -
In mids it says there is a taunt in shuriken and exploding shuriken..
My question is does it work like regular taunt? and does it do -range in pvp? -
went with cardiac only because i run tough weave and targeting drone. Also i have a fast attack chain on firemelee.. So need the extra boost of end.
-
Which should i go with Cardiac or nerve.. which should i go with on my wp..
