  1. I would much rather see it revamped a la the Positron TF in to something that is actually fun to play.

I am REALLY hoping that once all 10 incarnate slots are open we will see a revamp of the entire Shadow Shard making it a battle ground for buffed up incarnates to wage war with an interdimensinal destroyer of worlds.

    Ruluruu=Coming Storm
  2. Looking at the options for Interface, the two that stand out for AV/GM soloing or duoing are Diamagnetic (-regen) and Reactive (-res). Which of these two would be more effective for smacking around some of the higher end big bads?
  3. That's too bad Crow...we need our core group for this week's ITF I am afraid with the new shiny trials and incarnate hoopla, that we will have a small turnout. Either way, we will give it a shot.

Tonight, Thursday April 7th at 7:00 PM central, we will be ruinning the Imperious Task Force in Cimerora (lvl 35+).

Having an endgame is not the problem.....it is the form it now take that is.
Fair enough, nothing is going to please everyone. I find the new trials to be fun and challenging, but I do not have the audacity to assume everyone likes the same things I do. The thing I try to express to folks who are disapointed in the end game thus far is that it is still in its infancy, and it will evolve and expand just as the game before it has over the years. I am a very happy customer, but I always want more options, just like anyone else.
  5. I am still somewhat new to the game so please correct me if I am wrong, but it seems that prior to issue 19 there was no endgame to speak of. A lot of people are complaining that two consecutive issues (and quite likely the two after these) are focusing entirely on end game. To me it seems that after 6 or so years of nada, it was due a few issues. The people who wanted endgame waited 18 issues for their turn. I say let them have a few, the game the rest of us love is still here, and still expanding.
  6. Pugging blue side will always be easier, but I have brought a few toons through Freedom Preatoria and haven't had an issue finding teams. Also, soloing is fun in Praetoria. If you havent experienced the story, I strongly recommend that you do.
  7. I am a huge fan of the new trials, specifically the BAF. It is challenging but not cheap. A strong, vocal leader with a team who listens and responds can complete this trial with no problems. On the teams I led, I said from the get go that success is not guranteed, nor should it be expected. A failed run is NOT equivalant to a bad run. I ran 4 BAFS, 2 successful, 2 failed. Result? Judgment unlocked and slotted with tier 2

Only ran Lambda once and still learning the mechanics. It was a massive fail, but still fun and 20% toward unlocking interface.

    Great advice from the OP.
  8. I, for one, am extremely happy with the two new trials. I found them both very challenging, but not cheap. For the first time since I started playing this game a gave an honest to God real life fist pump when I completed the BAF successfully.

The time it takes to unlock each slot is being WAY over estimated. I ran 4 BAFs (2 successful, 2 failed) and was able to unlock my Judgement slot AND slot it with the uncommon tier 2 power. Astral Merits convert in to threads at a decent rate and they are fairly common. Also, to echo what others have said, these powers are intended to be earned over time, not in one night, similar to the process of leveling to 50.

    /toggle Sarcasm

Devs, make incarnate XP and componets drop in AE...I don't want to leave Atlas!!!!!
  9. You know, it makes me angry too when someone else is better at this game than I am. The devs should ban everyone whose skill level exceeds my own.

/signed with tongue planted firmly in cheek
  10. While I can not speak for Dark Armor or Fire Melee, I can say that I slot Steadfast Protection: KB protection and BOTZ KB protection on EVERY toon I roll. They are invaluable and do provide protection even if the power in which they are slotted is turned off. The recipes are resonably cheap at WWs.
  11. If this was Renault on Freedom, I might have been on that team becasue the exact same thing happened to me. You really waited 2 hours? That's hardcore. I gave it 20 minutes or so and gave up.
  12. Yet another fantasticly successful DP night. The Manticore Task force presented very little in the way of challenge. We took our time to pump every corporate crony full of lead and finished the TF in just over an hour.

Next week's weekly strike target is once again the ITF, and this time, all of the regular dualies are lvl 35+ so we will be taking a "shot" at Rommy and his buddies next week.
  13. Another possible option...Have a friend create a Primal toon and meet them in Pocket D. Level Pact your Praetorian with your friends Primal toon. PL your friends primal toon to 20, and viola! Your Praetorian is now lvl 20 and free to go blue side, and your friend gets a free lvl 20 toon out of the deal.

P.S. I have never actually done this because I hate farming, but it is possible and available as an option, my SG mates do it fairly often.
  14. Tonight, Thursday March 31st at 7:00 PM Central Time, we will be running The Manticore Task Force (Lvl 30-35) in Brickstown. Time to bust up some corporate lackeys!
  15. Second on the global channels. They are by far the easiest way to form a team and I have never had a problem forming one at any level. I even put together an all dual pistols Moonfire task force in about 20 minutes of recruiting using global channels. Try joining some of these

    RadioFreedom
    Freedom TFs and Raids
    BMT-Freedom

There is a thread on the Freedom message boards that lists some of the more active global channels. Check that out, join them, and start forming your teams

Also, if you see me in game, feel free to shoot me a tell. My global is @Guardian Irish-Fury, and Freedom is my home.

  17. CoH is my first and only MMO, so I suppose I am pretty spoiled. Consequently, if you ever find yourself on the Freedom server in need of a team, feel free to hit me up, @Guardian Irish-Fury.
  18. First off, welcome to the game and to the forums! My favorite part about this game is the people. People in game and on the forums are generally very friendly and helpful. If you ever have questions, this is the place to go.

I would be overjoyed if the Ouro TFs were in the rotation. They are some of my favorite TFs in the game, especially Mender Silos. They are terribly under used, and it makes me sad.
  21. Has there been an anouncement advising the WST schedule for April?

They simply don't work together in my opinion, but I am willing to let this comic book story of Praetoria play out. The problem with this comic book "story" is that it may be dragged out to explain everything in the games "lore", which is a problem.

I would prefer that the end games currently in place to be expanded upon....IO's and AE. Putting in a semi-traditional end game is fine with me if it involves a new threat.
You know how the saying goes...opinions are like *** holes, everyone has one and they all stink. I love the "comic book story" end game, but recognize that a large portion of the player base does not, and those people deserve to have fun as much as I do, so bring on the variety.

This, 1000 times this. I like my comics campy and cliche where heroes are heroes and villains are villains. Bad guys come up with ridiculous plots to conquer the world, and heroes over come seemingly impossible odds to stop them. I don't need a video game or a comic book to be thought provoking or earth shattering, I want it to be fun and escapist. If I want intellectual stimulation, I'll read a book.

The end game so far works for me because it feels like my favorite kind of comic book story. I realize this doesn't make everyone happy, but I guess I'm just lucky. That being said, I would like to see some solo incarnate stuff to do, and would like to see more variety to please the folks who don't like the "moustache twirling mirror universe" schtick.

It just comes off as a mean-spirited dismissal of people who are making legitimate and serious points.

Maybe I'm reading it wrong, but to me, it reads like a cross between "So you want the developers to drop everything and work on what YOU want?" and "You just want everything for free without having to work for it." Neither of the two is good.
Dan seems to be poking fun at the people who feel like their particular method of playing the game should be the primary focus of the devs, whether that be soloing everyhting, or having high end raids, TFs, PvP, whatever. The majority of posts from these interest groups are certainly legitimate and express concerns that should be addressed by the dev team. However, those few who insist that the game should be tailored to their preferences deserve to be made fun of relentlessly. Dan's post seemed directed at those folks, not people like you, Sam, who I can see after reading a bit of your post history, tend to bring up very legitimate questions and concerns about aspects of the game they find lacking. The post gave me at least a bit of a chuckle, because we all know people who feel like the devs owe them more than they owe anyone else.
  25. Last night was the best turnout we've had so far. We were able to run a full 8 man team of DP only, and the result was sheer destruction. We rolled through Moonfire with very few deaths, and completed the TF in just over 1 hour. It was a glorious thing to behold, indeed. Later in the evening, three of us met back up and ran through Posi part 1 again with a three man DP team since Brave Starr missed it the first time around. Tha presented quite a challenge, but we completed it with only one team wipe on the final mission.

I'm planning on rolling a DP/EM at some point. I really like running on single AT teams. I'm not too hot on the graphics on /EM but with DP, getting a boost to secondary effects of attacks and increase range, I just have to.

I actually rolled one a while back but the name was horrible so I deleted her.

    Are these every two weeks?

I have a level 15 (currently) DP/FF Defender, Annie Donia who would love to run with you guys sometime!

We meet every Thursday night at 7:00 PM central time. We've been running for about 6 weeks now and have completed both parts of Posi, Synapse, Sister Psyche, Citadel, Moonfire, and both parts of the doppleganger story arc in Talos. Most of the team are in the level 30-40 range and we are always looking for new folks to join. We do, however, tend to run task forces every week which are of course level restricted. On the schedule for next week is the Manticore TF which is lvl 30-35. We would love to have you both along, provided you are in level range come next Thursday.
