Why would I need strong search-fu to find a thread that's a long-standing tradition on a board? The links you posted hint as to why I'd never heard of such a thing before.

No such threads exist on Freedom or Pinnacle, the only server forums I visit with any frequency. I'd never heard of such a thing before this thread.

To That End I must ask my fellow heroic and villainous forumites to stand with me and start a /signed against using the forums to post SALES of character names. We have a long established tradition that fills this need and now its endanger of being exploited by those lacking in good gamemanship(sportsmanship for gamers) ethics. Please DEVs be our heroes now when we need you!
I absolutely do NOT want to see developer intervention happen. Personally, I think it's a creative move on Zenlon's part, worthy of a entrepreneur. Let the players be the arbiters on this one. If people are willing to pay in-game money for names, then let them. If the demand isn't there, then the idea will die out.

I like the idea of being more powerful. Great. Fine and wonderful.
But not at the expense of having all my other abilities become utterly meaningless.
    /suppressCloseFxDist <feet>

Set <feet> to a large number. Now you can use the 'suppress fx when close' option in the graphics settings to hide the effects of your toggle powers so you can see what is happening.

At this point, several trials are now "if you don't bring X, Y, and Z, you fail".
    Where:

X = A leader who understands the trial
Y = Players who can pay attention and follow instructions
Z = inspirations, type varies depending on the trial (greens for Keyes, pinks for UG, etc.)

'Role' to me implies role within a team. Solo, the only effective role for any AT is 'mob killer,' though different AT's have different tools to perform that role.

I see the role of tankers as the archetypal MMO tank. The main functions within that role include damage mitigation, aggro management, and mob positioning. Damage mitigation typically means reducing the damage taken by the tank, though it can also include situationally reducing the damage dealt to others should they draw aggro or move within range of AoE's. Aggro management means focusing the attention of the mobs where the player wants it, typically on the tanker. Mob positioning can include gathering mobs together so they can be hit with AoE's, moving mobs to an advantageous spot in which to fight them, or controlling a mob's facing so that it can't hit the other players with dangerous cone attacks.

Tanks generally have moderate damage output as well, but they don't fill the role of damage specialist. That seems to be a point of contention and controversy in just about every MMO I've played.
  5. Auto Assault was not a hard game. IMO it failed because it was dull. The quests were boring, and the 'holy trinity' class design was uninspired and inappropriate for a game based on vehicular combat. Driving in that game was about as much fun as the driving sequences in Mass Effect, and that's a mortal sin in a game which is all about driving. If the takeaway by AA's dev team was that the game failed because it was too hard, then they learned the wrong lessons.

Wait, what was this thread about again?

    Good choice!

  7. Fire^3 dom and fire^3 scrapper have enough AoE damage to make good door soloers, though the latter has no confuse protection. I keep a supply of emerges on hand for BAF and UG runs.

My vote is plant/storm controller and don't even bother with the doors.
I haven't seen any problems with prisoners not spawning, though I haven't run many BAFs recently. I still like to doorsit since I believe that I can get the most out of my AoE's that way. I know that players on Freedom have been doing more 16-person BAF runs lately, and I'm not sure which method the smaller leagues prefer.

Hyperstrike found a buyer for his merits. I don't see anything silly about that.
  9. I'd recommend moderate amounts of s/l/e/n over melee/ranged. Most IO sets that give e/n bonuses also give ranged bonuses anyway, so that will help to cover psi damage. My /FA scrapper went this route, along with Tough for extra s/l resists, and has good survivability in just about any situation.

Elec has a TAoE and PBAoE too, and Ball Lightning+Short Circuit slightly outdamages Irradiate+Neutron Bomb. Rad only pulls ahead if you're willing to use the cone as well.

    http://tomax.cohtitan.com/data/

Note that the Power Quantification says it was updated with Build 2160.201111172202.1. If you start up the launcher, right-click on CoH and select properties, you'll see that the current version is the same number. That means City of Data is using the current live build.
  12. FWIW, the name-campers probably aren't even playing on Exalted since they're using up the character slots to reserve names. Such behavior is more a reflection of the CoH VIP population at large than that of a single server.

Not that I would play on Exalted either, but that's because I have serious concerns about putting my characters on a 'premium' server in a game with an evolving F2P model.
  13. Ok, I just skimmed most of the pages, but I don't think this has been mentioned yet. I'd like to see tankers get more comprehensive status protection. In particular I'd like to see more sets with confuse and fear protection. I don't mind that my scrapper has to use so many pinks for Hami/BAF/UG, but it really annoys me that my tanker has to as well.
  14. Why are you so concerned about redraw in the weapon sets? If you were trying to mix in attacks from your secondary then it could be a real problem, but if you're sticking to primary attacks then it shouldn't come up very often.

Also, I think you're doing yourself a disservice by dismissing archery. It's a really nice set for a ranged-only blaster. It has what I consider to be a blaster's best niche at this point: ranged AoE with good damage and excellent coverage. If concept is a problem, consider Green Arrow or Robin Hood or such.
  15. One thing you should know about KM is that the 'siphon' effect of Power Siphon only works with attacks in the KM set. That is, you need to use KM attacks to increase the damage bonus, although once the damage bonus is built up it will apply to all of your attacks. Just something to keep in mind if you're planning to mostly use attacks outside the set.
  16. You say that a crab is out, but how about a fortunata? They have fair ranged attacks, and it's easy to cap defense on them.

For hard targets specifically, I'd say Cold is the best debuffer while Kin is probably the best buffer. If you're looking to be the ultimate team player, then I think you have the right idea with a cold/sonic def. If all you want to reduce a mob's regen though, just break out the Longbow pets.
  18. Show us pics of the base! I'm curious to see how some of the folks who receive these donations decide to spend the prestige.
  19. As a subscriber, I should not feel compelled to buy consumables. Anything along these lines should be aimed at the F2P crowd to reduce some deficit or hardship they have in comparison to the VIP's. And really, if you want to increase the death penalty on the froobs in order to sell them some related consumable, go for it.
  20. If you plan on getting the HP accolades, then you're way overslotted for hit points. Like, 93 points over the cap.

If you have the inf to spare, consider swapping out some of those LOTG sets in the defense powers with enzymes. You could afford to lose the HP bonuses, and the extra defense would give you more flexibility in slotting elsewhere.

You could take the KB protection out of Tough, slot a BOTZ KB prot in SJ, and gain a slot. Pull the stealth unique out of CJ and put it in one of the sprints, and gain another slot.

Unless you plan to use Brawl and Boxing, just swap those KC triples with KD procs. Might as well save money where you can.

That's just what I saw offhand.
  21. Sign me up for Dr Quaterfield, Sara Moore, and Justin Augustine. I think those are the only ones I'll have time to run. I'd love to bring my lvl 50 dominator for this; she could use the badges. Global is @Intrinsic.

There are people who will gamble on these things, particularly if the result can be sold in the consignment house. I've seen players spend large sums of money on similar gambling systems in other F2P games. And I'll just take this opportunity to mention that I despise such gambling systems, and really hope this one doesn't go live.
  23. Well, I would be surprised if the devs haven't at least thought about it, given the RMT spam. I don't see an easy solution to that problem unfortunately; either block access and hurt the froobs, or maintain access and enable the spammers.
  24. I expect any solo path to be slow enough that trials remain an attractive option. And since I actually enjoy running trials, that would be exactly what I want from a solo path.

Fortunately it's just a display bug. Your items will sell for whatever price you entered. And yeah, it's a known bug (to the players at least).
