FA, a noobish dilemma
softcap s/l
I'd recommend moderate amounts of s/l/e/n over melee/ranged. Most IO sets that give e/n bonuses also give ranged bonuses anyway, so that will help to cover psi damage. My /FA scrapper went this route, along with Tough for extra s/l resists, and has good survivability in just about any situation.
I'd aim for ~23% melee and ranged. Then focus on recharge.

Easy. Go for the soft capped s/l defense.
Why? Many ranged attacks deal s/l type damage, despite the fact that they are ranged. Maybe I am stating that in the wrong way....
But I do have a softcapped /fa brute and she is a hoot and a half to play.
Words to the wise aren't necessary- it's the stupid ones that need them.
"You're right...I forgot...being constantly at or the near the damage cap is a big turn off. Definitely not worth it."

Is it generally better, on a /FA toon in overall gaming (not just farming!), having maxed out s/l def or not maxed out (say in 25-30% range) melee/ranged def?
