I normally shoot for 4 kb on a squishie.
If you get hit by 3 or 4 council grenages you can get ragdolled but otherwise you are fine. -
It is a new channel like all the other new channels because the person who gets to choose who is silenced is different.
This is the exact issue with why we need an in game true global LFT channel.
New folks are silenced because of course they would not want to start a team. -
You see - it isn't fighting against "the man" or trying to crank out the xp/merits per second that a team should - it is the flexibility and skill required to allow something outside of the "rules" of engagement.
A great deal of you just don't even see it that FUN - yes, since we are playing a GAME is to me the beginning and end of it. It is why I keep playing after over 7 years.
I am sorry if you have become reduced to tightly group mobs, slaughter, rinse and repeat.
If the introduction of a little chaos winds you up this badly I don't blame the knockback that's for sure. -
Close:

Edited - * "So... now that I'm on the 'inside' of the loop... fess up... what's the code to allow us to make nippled characters?" -
Yeah, been playing longer than you and I do know how it works.
The point has always been kiting is not the most efficent way to fight and never was. So did they nerf hover blasting?
Why not?
Did they nerf speed boost kiting?
Why not?
Don't you even ask those questions? -
I guess i don't know you could run up pop build+aim nuke and be gone before the boom - oh wait, just like with speed boost.
Most people who play blasters can tell you sometimes kiting doesn't work and you eat the alpha and die. All while you are 100 yards away and the attacks follow you.
What AT was kiting - blasters mostly and what AT dies more than any other AT................ -
Quote:This one absolutely cracks me up. So slowly pecking away at PvE enemies by kiting was exploitive?According to Castle, of the 8 major reasons for travel power suppression, only 3 were PvP related. Others included AI abuse in PvE and risk/reward ratios.
People also tend to forget about the brief period when instead of suppression, they added a hefty to-hit debuff to all travel powers as a way of discouraging their use in combat. People complained, so we now have the suppression we know today. Getting out of PvP situations fast was a side effect of the intended purpose, to stop people from using these powers in any given combat situation.
LMAO.
Instead you could pop 3 purples and trash the entire group in 10 seconds while the one guy was kiting for 60? They can spin it how they want but stacking multiple inspirations of the same type is FAR more exploitive than kiting ever was. -
Let's clear up the silly farming is an exploit - first.
Most farmers do what to progress? Kill stuff.
Most players do what to progress? Kill stuff.
Is there a chance to die on a farm? Yes, once jello shots were removed and monkies.
So are there enemies in game who are fun to fight and are mostly single or limited damage types?
Clocks
Freaks
Trolls
Hellions
Skulls
Hydras
Warriors
Family
Nemesis
I am sure there are more.
So making a custom enemy who attacks you using say cold, fire, energy, smashing, lethal, toxic or whatever isn't unusual right?
Yes, there you go! Game over man - you want some effort at storytelling? Ever run some of the old arcs? I did from a geezer named Emmerson. He had me do back to back 6 yes 6 different defeat 20 xxxx missions in a row. Now that's storytelling.
Let people do what they enjoy and worry more at what you are doing than at what others do and life will be more fun for you. -
I used to hate farming and farmers.
I used to enjoy doing the content the Devs made for us and didn't see the point in farming, now I have been playing nearing 8 years......
I still do some of the content on early characters. I like the new Sewer trial and usually run it twice - that puts me at 9-10ish.
Then I will often head to the AE grab a solo farm and if you have never run a -1x8 mission solo - I work my butt off fighting for tickets and to get to 22 and at that point I have sold my tickets, gotten my SO and a few IO's to use and depending on the roll either a couple of million from IO sales or if lucky (I love you Celerity +Stealth) a couple HUNDRED million.
In my opinion the AE should list arcs in categories. Humor, Drama, Horror and Farms. Farms, at least the ones I play are NOT easy and I often die running at x8 - however the tickets and influence I make far out weigh the debt issues.
AE was a good thing and then once we had a rating system a cartel of knuckle-heads one starred anything not in their cartel. Of course once a thing can be abused - it will be.
To think having farms lessens your wonderful story arc is quite silly. It is also silly to keep acting like you want to punish farmers and then have Dev approved Incarnate farms. So please let's just ask the Devs to create some farms for us and they can have the Official seal of approval. -
Rain of fire gets a bad rap due to people dropping it on the opponents scattering them everywhere. Since most folks like the enemy all neatly stored into a dumpster to kill, having anyone use a power that got them out of the dumpster was frowned on.
Now for a Fire/Fire blaster since you have no status effects to keep the bad guys off you - taking Snow Storm in the Ice pool and Rain of Fire gives you lots of damage and some mitigation.
Plus Rain of fire used on immobilized foes is a nice bit of damage. -
Now people begin to see why folks like me have opted to ignore everything after the Alpha slot.
Lucy grab that football and hold it for Charlie Brown will you? They are pulling away the benefit everytime you nearly reach the ball. Fool me once shame on me - fool me twice shame on you. They never fooled me once. -
I get it - people want to just stack them in a dumpster and press the win button.
I Have learned to control knockback when I choose to and at other times I just let it all hang out.
Team in danger of wiping? Torrent slams everything down and away from us.
The best rule is if you have a person using knockback and it irritates you tell them quite simply - You knock it back you kill it. -
You see the narrow minds. I used to run an ALL knock back TEAM.
It was required to have one disorient, knock back or other "undesirable" power and to use it.
It was AMAZING to see what we could do. Taking a +1 Elite Boss throw him into the air and knock him cartwheeling and dead on the floor - was awesome to behold.
I played an Energy/Energy blaster on a TF and never had a single word but praise - because - I lined up my knock backs properly. I used 'em all and tore stuff up. It can be done to use knock back and if you talk to the tank and folks with powers like - Tarpatch, say to them can you drop it after I use torrent? I will zap all of them into the wall. Then the tank knows, hey I will taunt over by this wall here and I knock all the mobs TO him.
You need to lighten up and have fun, for folks who are supposed to be the uber gamers you lack in adaptability!
Gale? Is an awesome power for pulling stuff! You knock 'em down and run back to the group. Using your powers and letting others use there's requires - skill and patience. So could you play with a 7 year old on your team who is just having fun knocking things around?
I did and it is what changed my attitude towards it. -
Here is the beauty that surpasses..............what just what happens if we LET EVERYONE USE ALL OF THEIR POWERS!
Imagine that?
You can hold, knockback, immobilize or anything else you want to do whenever you want to do it.
Life doesn't need to fit in an 8 ounce glass. Take big bites moderation is for monks. Seriously do you see what these posts all have in common?
You want to control other people and not explore the fun of Chaos. You want the Hulk to punch people just not TOO hard. You want Ironman to use his repulsor jets - just not much. You want Thor to use his hammer but only knock things down.
Really it sounds like you want the boring and mundane and not the extraordinary. Gather 'em up slaughter, rinse and repeat. Those players daring to be having FUN - well ban them to the deepest of hells for daring to muss up the conga line. -
You see the game on a whole is dead easy.
With characters IO'd to the gills and with Lore Pets, powers and so on.
Then you take a large helping of Chaos and feed it into the smooth running herd and slaughter machine and you get a more dynamic and fun experience. Ever see an Elite Boss get thrown into the air, cart wheel and get destroyed before he can hit the ground?
If the answer is no - you have not experienced the fun that can be had by embracing Chaos.
If you like life in neat orderly chunks, perhaps it is time to find how the dark side lives - Knock something back today and smile.
Yeah try getting a Mind controller to lift when you shout PULL! and Knockback stuff all the way across rooms. -
I decided to embrace the wonderful Chaos that is Knockback.
I have come to absolutely love it and I only see people complain because the groups aren't in neat little packages with ribbons on them waiting for the slaughter.
Tanks can't hold aggro? Move your large behind and keep moving.
Can't get AoE on all of them? Tough you have single attacks too!
Can't heal/buff/debuff all of them? Tough that's why you have teammates let them help too.
I LOVE Knockback and have in the past ran teams that REQUIRED the use of knockback powers - like insisting on Handclap on the tank. Yes, and add to the wonderful awesome Chaos by fighting Coucil as they have strong Knockback Mojo of their own! -
What I would like to do is run some sort of PvP ladder matches.
You all start out as equal and after fighting the first round of a pool tournament get placed into brackets.
The brackets would be:
Open (take all challengers)
Advanced (have a win percentage over 50% or so)
Novice (you either just do it for fun or don't want to play a hardcore game)
The initial tournament would be in pools of 7.
You fight each person in your pool and then the top 3 move to the Advanced ranking. You can move back down to Novice or not advance if you wish as well.
Then you setup a challenge system where you can challenge those in your rank. You can advance if you want by winning these challenges.
This is for solo.
For teams - a team of 5 (one ringer or sub allowed) an overall roster of 10 players allowed. Changes can be made with 24 hour notice to your opponents.
A team can be any mix of characters.
I would fight this as a straight pool tourney as outlined above.
I used to fight on the CAL league in Halflife TFC and SoF2 (Soldier of Fortune 2) and this is how we ran the tournaments so everyone got a minimum of 6 fights. You might be eliminated but you got your 6 fights anyways!
I would be happy to do this -
I have been beating the let players use an AE style of editor for PvP for a LOOOONG time. When AE came out I thought we could use it for PvP and I was very disappointed to find we couldn't.
-
Has anyone looked at what some common PvP recipes can be purchased for using Hero/Villain Merits?
32 merits for some of the most wanted ones. Yes, 32. A LoTG is 2. Numina + is 2. Almost all of the top tier IO's are 2 and the PvP ones are 16 times higher?
Why bother with PvP if this is the case? To encourage something you make it common, to discourage it you tax it. The devs have decided to try to teach new players coming into the game that PvP is not encouraged and it is flat out disliked.
The silence from the devs is deafening on PvP however the market shows what they really think. I don't PvP now and haven't in a long time because it is a pointless exercise without some of the tools we need to make the game interesting. Having to spend 5 or 6 billion to get PvP IO's? No thanks.
I considered trying to form some leagues with ladders with Novice to Open - but after looking at what the actual game itself is saying about PvP - I am going to spend my time more productively. I just wanted to write to show that players are seeing what you are doing devs and if you don't want PvP you are doing a fine job discouraging it. -
Not a level 3 map but Fire! is a good farming map although as you can imagine it is mostly Fire attacks.
It does the same setup in the front with ambushes and a glowie for bonus tickets. You have 2 destructable items that trigger ambushes and a "helper" that doesn't help much -
I repeatedly see here people just blaming the players for not inherently knowing the names of all the PLAYER created channels.
So I will say again it is the DEVS who are to blame.
How do we know which are the "good" channels? These channels are exactly like the AE, great except there is no way to know what we need to know about the content.
Is the channel owner a complete egomaniac?
Does the channel allow you to have FUN (it is a game) or must we strictly adhere to the "rules" or get kicked?
Who do I have to speak to to join the channels?
It goes on forever, how many tabs am I supposed to have in my UI?
All of these?
VIP
BMT Exalted
Exalted Events
Global VIP Network
Exalted LFG
Exalted United
So how do I monitor 6 separate tabs?
Or I can use 1 channel for general chat and help. Now if they had 2 channels as a minimum - one would be for teaming and it seems incredible that one is not available to F2P players as well. -
4 x Spines/Electric scrappers
Can you say MELT. -
I would call the 5th tier of the Presence pool - Ballroom Blitz.
You have the ability for an unresistable 10 second period to control all aggro for 17 mobs.
It would have a long cooldown just like all the other tier 5's. -
So we blame the PLAYERS because we only have 1 global channel?
We don't have a LFT channel - which in an MMO should be the FIRST channel we get.
The solution you all recommend is private channels? These have size limits correct? Global open has no size limit, nor do you have to seek the approval of the monitors of the channel.
The fact that people laugh and have fun in the channel is a GOOD thing, not a bad one. I often answer help questions with tells and that removes the help conversation from general chat. I do this since after one help answer a 45 minute diatribe by someone on the "correct" answer started.
You don't see the whole elitist attitude this thread evokes? You would rather delete the tab than help someone. I can say with certainty I never pass a day playing that I have not been able to help someone through this channel.
We need a LFT channel and a general channel and then you could say please use Help for help and otherwise go to this channel.........since we don't have these players use what they have.
