Quote:Very, very disappointed with this.
(6) Disappointed that base storage wasn't mentioned (several people asked her about it).
Also, the fact that she asked for suggestions, when we have had a couple of stickied, running threads for years, tells me she is .... out of touch.
I really miss having red-name representation. -
Quote:To clarify a little more, the "current room" button is on the bar at the bottom of the screen, along with the "place item", "place room" and "pick style" buttons. When in "current room" mode, the bar will fill up with each individual item you have in the room.
The items are ordered according to when you placed them, from first to last (latest items placed will be at the end of the list). Click on an item, and it should highlight in the room (this becomes important if you have multiples of a certain item, like desks). Click on the "sell" button for that item, and it should delete (& refund your prestige).
Quote:I never noticed that before becuase I was usuly emptying the room so I was always in the show room items tab...
I so rarely clear out a room, I'm almost always in the "place item" tab. -
In your menu -> options keymapping tab, there is a section for "view" with these options:
On Demand Mouse Look
Rotate Camera
Reset Camera
Zoom In
Zoom Out
Look up
Look down
The on demand mouse is set to the right mouse button by default. Click and hold to rotate the camera (and your toon) to nearly any angle you desire.
I have the Reset Camera set to my "insert" key. It automagically resets to 3rd person centered view; the camera will stay angled up/down at your current setting, however.
If I just want to angle the camera up or down, without all the "rolling" of the On Demand, and without moving my toon, I use my Rotate Camera (delete key for me) + Look Up/Down/right/left (page keys/arrow keys)
There are also the "Match player to camera" and "Match camera to player" options. I haven't really tinkered with them much, I imagine Dark Respite might have some tips on how to use those. -
Other people may use the name in other capacities. Regardless, in THIS game there are rules about not using names that may be protected. You agree to abide by those rules every time you enter the game. Period.

Quote:Your experience is irrelevant. It is the facts that matter.Except I've heard of Superman. I've never heard of this guy before, and don't recognize any of the above pictures.
The fact is that another company created an NPC in their game with that unique name. They have claimed that character as copyright, as any other game does with their NPC's.
It would be no different than someone going over to WoW and creating a character named Positron. -
Yep, browsing these forums has been very laggy. I've not had any issues on other sites. Clearing my cache does not seem to make a difference.
I have no idea what causes it, but wanted to add my voice in case it is server side. -
Quote:That may be the Miyuki Gravel floor pattern colored in shades of reds & oranges.there are also some flat sections in dark speckly red that I don't get how to do.
Go to the pick style button... select the floor section you wish to alter (be sure you are altering the right level, check the tab label)... and choose the Miyuki Gravel. There should be a color palette window where you can choose a primary and secondary floor coloring.
Some folks also use this pattern colored in blues & greens in conjunction with a slow field to simulate a watery/pool look. -
Taking the name from one game and using it in another game owned by another entity could lead to some legal quagmires. It's a simple matter of CYA, not pettiness.
-
I can understand the name... it is a unique name created for another game, and copyrighted by the game creators.
The costume, not so much. Your costume doesn't look even remotely like Diablo's Izual. -
Another question that might have bearing is; How long had the game been running before this happened?
See this post by Master Blade which explains why it might be a factor.. -
Also, if you want to filter out recipes by type, there should be tabs along the top that you can go through. If you want to see only the inventions recipes, there should be an "inventions" tab along the top.

Some key changes with Supergroup Bases as well...
- Base Raids have been disabled completely. This has had an interesting architectural side effect for base builders, since the "raid pathing" is no longer in effect. Items can be placed closer together, even overlapping. There are also new tricks for stacking items. Check out the Base Forums for more info.
- ...
- Base salvage no longer exists. Instead, everything is now crafted with normal salvage. Base salvage racks now hold only 30 pieces of salvage. If you have a legacy rack that's loaded up, you will be able to remove items from it, but not add to it (until the load falls below the 30 item limit). If you still have base salvage, there is a conversion process to turn it into regular salvage. You can find the conversion recipes on the crafting table. READ THEM CAREFULLY... you will get different results depending on the conversions you use.
- ...
- Permissions for storage racks/tables/bins can be customized. Each storage rack/table/bin needs to be set individually. You will need to be on a toon that has edit permissions. Open the storage item (out of edit mode) and hit the permission button to customize as desired.
- ...
- There is now a single main leader for a supergroup. They are designated by a red star. If the main leader is inactive for the set demotion period, the red star will go to the next person in the next rank down (old lead stars) who has seniority AND has been active within the set demotion period.

np & welcome back
Depending on how long it's been, you may want to wander over to the base forums to see some of the stuff we've been doing.
A couple of big changes:
- Base raids have been turned off. This means that the raid pathing has also been turned off. An interesting architectural side effect is that items can be placed much closer to each other, even overlapping. And stacking is easier than ever (no tricky magic desks)! Check out the "cool rooms" and "cool items" threads in the Base Forums.
- You can set permissions for your salvage racks/tables. With one of your editing toons, go to the rack (out of edit mode), open it, and hit the permissions button. You'll need to set permissions for each rack/table individually.
- Salvage racks now only hold 30 pieces. All other storage tables/bins are still at 100. If you have a "legacy" salvage rack that is loaded up, you will be able to take salvage from it, but not add to it (until it falls below 30 item limit).
- e-mail can be set to filter by friends and supergroup members. Check it out in your game options menu.
-
How long ago did you create this base? This sometimes happens with bases that have been inactive for a long time. You may need to /petition to get it re-set. It can take anywhere from a couple hours to a day to get it fixed.
-
As to the question of how to set permissions for your storage racks/tables/etc....
- You need be on one of your toons that has edit permissions (see the settings button in the sg roster to set SG permissions by rank).
- Then, you go to the storage item in question, open it up as if you were going to add/take, and hit the permissions button that is now at the top of the salvage window.
- You have to set the permissions for each storage rack/table individually. Tedious, but on the other hand it makes for great customization. We have racks that are open to all, and special racks that are for leaders only.

Call me dense, but since you are posting here, I assume you have an account (trial or sub).... How did you set up your account in the first place? Did you not go through the NCSoft site to do so?... or did you purchase your account in some other manner?
Just wondering... -
Quote:Well, duuuuh!... that's because fridays are special (especially 2xp fridays)And yet I had MULTIPLE people asking me to team when I was online around NOON today on a 'low population' server (i.e. not Freedom or Virtue), while you'd expect people to still be at work or school.
Imagine that!
Quote:Even on the MUCH quieter EU servers from 11am (when people should be at work...I'm on holiday and because I can't afford to go anywhere nice...at home..just needed two weeks off work) this morning I got invited to teams, perhaps being a defender helped but I still got invited when people should be at work/school. -
Can't remember where I saw it, but "Lethal Discharge"...
for some reason, it gave me bad thoughts... -
If I am a winner, I permit NC Interactive, Inc. and NCsoft Europe Limited to use my name, likeness, photograph, hometown, and any comments that I may make about myself or this contest that I provide for advertising and promotional activities. I also certify that I am at least 13 years of age and am eligible to participate in this contest.
Heroes, Heroes! You can all be pretty. There's no need to fight over the costume code like that! -
Do you have enough influence to cover the crafting fee? The fee is listed in the recipe above the salvage requirements.
Also, make sure your enhancement tray is empty.
And, as has been mentioned, be sure your recipe window is closed before clicking on the crafting table. For whatever reason, the UI uses the same window for both, but the crafting table is the one that gives you the buy/craft options.
Other than that, I'm not sure what else to tell ya. Hope you work it out. -
Blasters are fun, but keep in mind they are "squishy". They are set up to be played at range. Get too close to your baddies, and expect to be getting a good look at the grain of the flooring.
As for flying... yes, there is the flight pool where you can get the power to fly at lvl 14 (with a pre-req power at lvl 6). BUT to tide you over, you can get a flight pack by doing radio missions in Kings Row once you hit level 5.
- So, when you hit level 5, take the tram to Kings Row and look for the detective (he should show in your contact list once you zone in). Go to the detective, and he will give you a "radio". The "radio" will appear in your contact list.
- Do 3 radio missions, then it will tell you to go back and talk to the detective again. He will give you a special mission to protect Atlas Park Bank.
- Check out the P-wiki page on Safeguards to get some ideas on how to approach this mission. Get a team together for it, folks love the bank mishes.
- Successfully saving the bank will get everyone on the team a "raptor pack". It will give you 2 hours of flying time (use it well, turn it off when you don't need it, to save up that fly time).
- Conversely, you could go to KR and just wait around for someone to advertise that they have a bank/safeguard mish, then jump on board that team (but I was never one for waiting around.. lol).

So very sorry to hear of your loss.
We lost our 20 year old schnauzer at the beginning of the year to kidney failure as well.
Nevertheless, 17 years is a good long time for a cat.
It's so hard when they get older, and succumb to many of the frailties that even humans have. Unfortunately, there is still a lot of unknown territory in the veterinary field, unlike human medicine. I could say a lot of things about the veterinary field, but it would be no different than what I would say about human heathcare these days. In short, always, always, always be willing to ask questions, and do some research on your own, and ask more questions.
((((hugs)))) to you during this time of grief. -
Quote:Inconceivable!Ah, Bill Burroughs stream of consciousness style posting. It's been all the rage lately. Your plans may be to focus on soloing, but mine is to continue teaming just like i usually do.
Something odd i've noticed is that i actually get more tells asking if i'm looking for team on the lower population servers than on the higher population servers. However on the higher population servers i get teams mostly by reading and chatting in the server's global channels.
Some things that the OP might want to consider: 1) today is not a holiday, 2) the average CoH/V player is mid twenties or older, and 3) in the Americas it's still early afternoon for most people.
That means that, double XP or not, the average CoH/V player is probably still at work or in class. Give it a couple more hours and then see how things are. -
A little point to ponder, that another new player mentioned to me....
Your in-game global handle is separate from your account/login name.
Your in-game global handle defaults to the name of the very first character you create.
Your global handle is essentially your "player name", that is attached to you no matter what toon or server you are playing on. So, make sure your first character has a name that you are comfortable with being known by.
You do have ONE chance to change your global handle, but lots of folks like to keep that ace up their sleeve for later.
Also, it is generally not recommended to make your global name or forum name the same as your account name.
Welcome to the game, and to the forums.
Check out some of the other threads recently posted by other new players... lots of good info in them.
