A Man/Gamer's other Best friend passes on....
Sorry to hear about your cat. She did live to a good, long old age though in cat years.

Sorry to hear of your cat's passing. Be grateful you got nearly 17 years with her.
Wow.... 17 years is a long time. Sounds like even though the vet was way off (seriously, switch vets dude, lol) you had a long friendship. It can be hard to lose a pet, because they do become a part of the family, but just remember, they are in a better place now where they don't hurt anymore.
So very sorry to hear of your loss.
We lost our 20 year old schnauzer at the beginning of the year to kidney failure as well.
Nevertheless, 17 years is a good long time for a cat.
It's so hard when they get older, and succumb to many of the frailties that even humans have. Unfortunately, there is still a lot of unknown territory in the veterinary field, unlike human medicine. I could say a lot of things about the veterinary field, but it would be no different than what I would say about human heathcare these days. In short, always, always, always be willing to ask questions, and do some research on your own, and ask more questions.
((((hugs)))) to you during this time of grief.

So, in 9 months I buried my dog, will be burying my cat, have a new puppy that's gotten into near 4 grand worth of vet fees kind of trouble for swallowing stuff, and oh yeah, have been trying to find a job for 5 months now after taking a leave from my job.
Sorry to hear about this. It's always painful to lose a member of the family like that but on the other hand the years of pleasure our furry friends give us is great compensation.
I would strongly advise you to get a new vet however, but not before discussing your concerns with the veterinary practice manager

I am so sorry to hear of you friend's passing. I know how hard it was for you and your family. I had 2 cats, 1 past just 1 year after my Dad (7 years ago), the other a few years ago at 15 yrs old. I miss them both and would love to have another one, but with my crazy work schedule it wouldn't be fair to my Mom or the cat.

I'm so sorry to hear about your cat!
To put it in context for you, I got my cat in around late May/early June 1993. My father had just died, and I hadn't even hit 15 yet. I lived longer with my damn cat, than I did my own father. Over half my life. And I had my dog for almost 1/3rd of my life. So, I guess thats another reason why I'd like to run over with a steamroller people who hurt/abuse dogs and cats. Worst I ever did to either of pets was a swat on the head or butt.
Sorry to hear about your kitty. I lost mine back in October. He died literally on the way to the vet. Mine was a major part of me. He really kept me going through a lot of messed up stuff, when every bipedal creature seemed out to screw me over.
Doom.
Yep.
This is really doom.
Some of you might remember that last summer, on my birthday, my dog of nearly 10 years, Liberty had died. Well, today, my cat, Casey, of nearly 17 years, was put to sleep after a kidney infection did not respond to treatment. Of course, she'd always been healthy, and the vets said this wasn't a big problem. Yeah, and when my dog had a problem they said she'd last another year or two easy, instead, she didn't even last ONE month. Who's more full of crap when it comes to health care, normal doctors, or vets?
