Took the words right out of my fingers....
I recently wrote a bio 4 times over, in different styles, until I felt it conveyed the character emotionally as well as informatively. I ended up using every bit of space that stupid box would let me (but not as a wall o' text)... re-wording and strategizing spaces/returns. I also ended up winning a bio contest for it.

Also, I will join those calling for the text box to be fixed.
    Please.

Yeah... apparently you still have to "join" the VIP group in order for the name color to be in effect.

User CP --> Networking (side menu) --> Group Memberships
If you "identify" yourself as a "registered user", your name will remain white.

  8. Are you changing permissions in the SG settings screen? or on the bin/rack itself?

Each individual bin/rack item has it's own set of permissions that are separate from the SG settings.

The individual item settings are automatically set for the 2 highest ranks. Those permissions can be changed by someone that 1) has edit permissions (SG settings) and 2) is of proper rank. Even if someone has "storage permissions" in the SG settings, they may not be able to access a bin/rack if the item's individual permissions have not been adjusted.

This allows for permission customization for individual storage items. You could have a rack that is accessible by all, and another that is restricted for leaders only.

  9. Targeting tips...

You can re-set many basic keybinds in the options menu. Once you have a standard layout that works, save it as default.

For me, I found it easiest to re-bind the tab key for targeting the next enemy. Since the first power tray automatically defaults to the number keys (not number pad), it's an easy reach to hit tab then 1, 2, 3, 4,... It's also a quick way for me to cycle through the visible enemies.
I have the ~ key re-bound for nearest enemy for my "back to one" (nearest =/= next)

The f-keys are the default for inspies, but like many others, I've gone a step further and bound them to use specific inspies so I'm not constantly rearranging my inspie tray.

I use my arrow keys for movement... I never got the hang of using "wasd" or strafing.

This setup keeps my targeting/powers on my left hand, while I can move with my right. As you can probably tell, I don't use my mouse much except for scrolling the camera in/out and hitting the occasional Oro/WW portal or TAoE.

But just so my right hand doesn't get bored, I also use it for ctrl and alt powering and camera movements. Since ctrl is the easier reach, I set my second most used powers in the corresponding tray. The Alt tray gets powers that are handy, but not used as much in combat. I've set my camera movements to pg up, pg down, delete, home, end and insert... the up & down get the most use.

Hope that's helpful, or at least gives you a few ideas.

    lol...

Teas are herbal infusions, but not all herbal infusions are teas.

The Evening in Missoula is indeed a flavor packed blend of "not-tea-ness", lol.
It's the kind of blend that lends itself to individual interpretation.

To my palette, that blend has several layers of flavor...
The chamomile and mints hit first, with the lavender, cherry bark and anise following quickly. The fruit leaves are actually pretty subtle, and the vanilla & stevia work together for a slightly sweet finish. I actually feel no need to add sugar to this blend, and I find it to be a perfect "sleepy time" beverage.

  11. Good grief... Mr. Orwell was certainly opinionated, and arrogant enough to think his opinions should be treated as truth.

    As for his opinions;

    1. Indian Tea is nice, Chinese Tea is nice, Japanese Tea is nice... they are just different, and it comes down to personal preference. His assertion that Indian Tea is the ONLY tea worth drinking just makes him an arrogant blowhole.

    2. I agree that small quantities are best, but not for the reasons he gives. Small batches are best for the simple reason of freshness. I do agree that a ceramic teapot is best for fresh flavor.

    3. Warming the pot is a good idea to avoid losing heat (and therefore steeping effectiveness) too quickly.

    4. Make your tea as strong or weak as you prefer. Often it depends on the variety you are using.

    5. I have no problem with using loose tea. This is one point that I agree with him. I do think loose tea infuses better.

    6. "Meh" on the "water must be boiling on impact". Just off the boil is fine. The idea is to "shock" the leaves to release the aromatics. The 3 minute steep is what really does all the work.

    7. Stirring the leaves will help them settle so that they don't pour off into your cup. I've heard that sprinkling a few drops of cold water on top will do the same thing.

    8. Duh. A shallow cup will cause your beverage to cool quickly. Use your own judgement.

    9. Cream... bleh. That's just my opinion.

    10. Are you kidding me? There's argument over whether to put cream in first? If you know how much cream you like, why should anyone else give a rat's hoo-hah?

    11. No sugar? ... I believe there are several southerners who would disagree with him on this point. Although I don't go as far as our southern friends, I do think a dash of sugar actually enhances the flavor... like salt in savory dishes. And no, tea does not need to be as bitter as he seems to advocate.

Maybe Mr. Orwell was actually a closet coffee drinker.

Ahhh.... That makes more sense. I didn't realize the herb was still available for general use. It's been a while since I visited the herbal store.

There are a few beneficial herbs that, since they've gotten a "bad rap", many herbal stores won't carry. Lots of folks will simply grow them in their garden. Unfortunately, I don't live in a climate that encourages that kind of gardening (unless I spend a bunch of money to do it indoors). Guess I'll just have to live vicariously through my plant 'troller.
  16. On the topic of tea (sort of)....

I had a lovely herbal blend this evening, called "Evening in Missoula":
chamomile, rosehips, raspberry leaf, papaya leaf, peppermint, spearmint, strawberry leaf, passion flower, red clover, star anise, wild cherry bark, lemon peel, wintergreen, lavender, vanilla, stevia

While I agree with Traegus that it is technically not "tea", I do enjoy the occasional herbal infusion.... which is an umbrella that tea does fall under.

As far as I know, is a liquor made from wormwood.
True absinthe can only be purchased in France, I believe. Anything else is a facsimile made with variations of anise or licorice.

Originally, an herbal preparation of wormwood was used to treat cases of... you guessed it... worms.

Unfortunately, the process of creating an alcohol from it results in a rather strong, hallucinogenic product (and wasn't always consistent). From what I understand, it is now strictly regulated in France, while several other countries have banned it entirely.

  18. There are 48 "feet" to max room height (lowest floors, highest ceilings).

Consider, that for each "floor" you will be taking up 3 feet just for flooring.

So, if you go for a min 8 ft space, when you factor in your floor you will actually be using 11 total feet.

I actually tend to build for a minimum 10 ft space, if I'm not putting any tall items on the floor. I believe the tallest items are 16 ft.

Dunno if that helps, it really depends on what you intend to use the space for, and what you intend to fill it with.

For quick measuring, I tend to use the (smaller) yellow standing lanterns. Each "segment" is about a foot.

  19. 1. Liz
    2. Henri
    3. Tartyrsause

Honestly, it was a really close call between Liz & Henri for me. Both exhibit excellent color and techniques. The tipper was that I felt more drawn in by the character in Liz's. Henri's is also excellent, and brings a smile to my face.... as does Tartyrsause's pistol packin' devilish er... pixie elf?... Tartyrsause also shows nice use of lines and forced perspective.

Overall, some lovely work by everyone, really.

    And DD... excellent showing.
  20. measure - a musical term for a certain number of beats; as in, 4 beats per measure.
  21. Perhaps he was thinking that something "out of whack" was something that "failed".

But I agree, even that follows more the rules of "word association" instead of a true synonym/homonym.

    That said...

Dye - a substance (or process) to color cloth

    .
  22. Steeler - One who points, edges, or covers with steel

    .
  23. What side do you pick more than others?
    Hero

What play style do you prefer?
melee - I love Tanker Tuesdays (when I'm able to attend).

What power set(s) do you favor?
Hard to say, really. I've tinkered with a few different sets and find each to be interesting, different, and fun in their own ways. Currently, I'm liking my fire/dark tank, even if I don't get to play it much due to my ice/mace and kin/arrow incarnates stealing my attention.

What zones do you like the most?
For looks; Atlas, Founders, Cim, Praetoria,
    For fun; Croatoa, Cim.
    For functionality; Talos

Do you usually play as a male or female (word of hatred) ''toon''?
    Mostly female.
I don't care about the "toon" vs. "char" debate. They are both valid for me.

    Views on Role Playing?
Amusingly enough, even though I'm theatrically trained, I'm not a big RP'er. Not that I don't occasionally enjoy watching the interplay with those who do, I just don't do it much myself.

    Servers?
Primarily Justice, with occasional forays to Champion and Virtue

As to the "gamer girl" label.... I'm, err... really too old to be called a "girl".
I started with ye olde Atari back in the day, then graduated to tabletop DnD (and another military-style that I can't remember the name of).
Had a gaming group (3 gals, 5 guys) that met every weekend and played a variety of tabletops and card games for a while. Then Hubby and I moved 1300 miles away.
Played Diablo, D2 & LoD until we were introduced to CoH... end of story.

I do feel the odd sense of "not belonging" when I walk into a comic or gaming store. Mostly, because I'm not as much of a comic geek as most gamers seem to be.
Also... I'm old. So, yeah... awkward.
