Permissions on salvage racks
So I just edited the SG base, put in a salvage rack, and went back later to try and change the permissions on the rack (as to who could put stuff in and take stuff out) and it wouldn't let me alter those.
Now, I thought being able to edit the base would include being able to change the permission levels on the thing you just added to the base, but, apparantly not. So which Member Permission is this ability covered under, does anyone know? Or is there some trick to being able to change the permission levels of the salvage racks that I'm just not seeing? Any help would be appreciated, thanks. -Nighty |
Even if you have base edit permissions at a rank below that, you can't change them.
Salvage racks start off, by default with permissions only for Leader and Super Leader.
Even if you have base edit permissions at a rank below that, you can't change them. |

So, basically, unless I'm of the Leader or Super Leader rank, I can't change those permissions at all? Is there no way for the Super Leader (yes he's one of my good friends) to grant me the ability to change those things, I mean short of promoting me to Leader rank?

I dont see this as a flaw. Constructing the base has nothing to do with handling of SG perks such as use of enchancement tables etc.
Indeed, it is a security feature against theft.

Well that theory doesn't work. I was able to get my friend to promote me to rank 2 (right below super leader) and I STILL cannot change the permissions of a newly placed salvage rack.
Any other theories as to how to make this possible for me to change that?

The leader can set which ranks have access..so they will have to change the permissions to allow lower ranks access.
I think there is a flaw in the system though. I could change the permissions for ranks lower than mine on a 3rd rank toon, even if the permissions for my own rank aren't active. I'm not online right now, so I can't check, but I thought it really weird.
So I could not use the storage rack, but I could give lower level toons access.
Are you changing permissions in the SG settings screen? or on the bin/rack itself?
Each individual bin/rack item has it's own set of permissions that are separate from the SG settings.
The individual item settings are automatically set for the 2 highest ranks. Those permissions can be changed by someone that 1) has edit permissions (SG settings) and 2) is of proper rank. Even if someone has "storage permissions" in the SG settings, they may not be able to access a bin/rack if the item's individual permissions have not been adjusted.
This allows for permission customization for individual storage items. You could have a rack that is accessible by all, and another that is restricted for leaders only.

It has been reported... I've yet to see any redname movement on this issue after 2 years.
Triumph: White Succubus: 50 Ill/Emp/PF Snow Globe: 50 Ice/FF/Ice Strobe: 50 PB Shi Otomi: 50 Ninja/Ninjistu/GW Stalker My other characters
I am a one person SG, but recently I opened it up to a few players who seemed to need access to these abilities. I stopped storing anything under purple/pvp/ATO so I only needed 3 tables. My solution to seperations of storage was to do away with rank tiers and designate them as entitlement for storage. When doing so you can provide a front room to personal rooms (like an apt lobby) each branch in the SG tier has its own seperate collective. I think the cool thing about it was the small groups on the same "tier" are usually the ones that knew eachother before joining my SG, so I am totally seperated from any drama.
I just thought I'd add some thoughts. I didn't read the whole forum but the title was something I felt I had a answer to the problem... so sorry if I repeated some sort of all knowing protocol when it comes to storage issues. I know this doesn't directly solve your problem, but suggesting it to the SG leader might be a good suggestion if the SG could be branched in such a way. If the SG is based on Prestige earnings to grant access to rooms and storage, then nevermind. My thoughts are in regards to no charge or fee to be in a SG. I hope I helped and good luck.
P.S. at least the SG leader is your friend. One of my members had to leave his because the whole base was locked up for him to do anything as the SGs highest earner.
Now that you have the rank to edit storage unit permissions, delete the item you placed and place a new one. Now you will be able to set its rank permissions.
