Hello all! I thought I'd drop some pics of some current pics along with some pubs
Yep! The Saints have 5 on tap! 3 are homebrewed.
-
Thought Id drop a couple of progress pics of my base.
-

I guess you'll have to unlock it by SG badge or by building something that opens it up. I am not sure. What I do know is that I built a advanced table and had no problem seeing an advanced terminal option to build. I hope I helped with your problem.

Quote:If theres nothing important in the rooms then simply delete them. If you're fond of a room so much and it's hard to let go then take alot of pics and let it go. IMO, as they add.. if they add.. more base abilities and/or items.. why stay with the rooms look? Just a thought in regards to deleting item by item.Awsome ty very much, you have answered every thing i needed to know, just a shame though every room i have has wall lights and other items blocking me from changing my layout style and plot size withought going through the hastle as selling and moving LOADS of items around, it's going to take some time but now adleast I know what im doing so my time wont be wasted thx to you
Look at Hyperstrikes post(scroll up). Neo's base layout is amazing, makes me wish I used this forum to learn how to edit.
hotkeys that I am ware of:
holding down hotkeys while item is selected
[shift] moves up and down z-axis
[alt] pivots/swaps on z-axis
[ctrl] roam along X-axis & y-axis while maintaining height of z-axis -
I was asked on one of my threads if I had to angle an array of lamps or did they come angled. The answer was that they already came angled.. then it came to me in my reply.. wouldn't it be cool to be able to copy and paste the current object selected (one that has been altered by axis swap).
Has anyone brought this up before? Because anyone who has actually placed 2,000+ items knows exactly how much this would help a project and more importantly, opens us up to things we wouldn't try a traditional way (current way).
What are your thoughts? I know nothing on what it takes to get something done, but this sounds really fricking easy. I think it sooths alot of designer needs for the now. But I know folks, we want it all! Metoo!
But, If I had this capability, the first handy thing that comes to mind is having a empty room to index items.. so if I needed to refer to them at the given degree I would have it in the case of deletion of a room. Reference tools like that(not exactly like that) enables us to elaborate more on plotting. Or IMO enables us to sequence our phases faster and better which also allows more detail for time spent editing it. -
I looked on wiki and I think you are trying to build a teir 2 item on a teir 3 table. Try making a expert table and look for your item.
My first guess was item/sg unlock as well but I didn't see any criteria for an unlock. I think you're good to go. -
Quote:Thank you very much! The lights are already angled, I am a big fan of angled walls so those items fit right into the theme. But now that we have axis swap Im sure I would have used the ceiling lamps had that been an option. But since then I tried it and didnt like it as much, when the off lit and lit ones combine it has a lighting enhancements that other lighting doesnt seem to have so these are the better choice. I can only imagine the person who is willing to go that extra route and spin every item in a room has definately got one over on us. I have no plans to hurt my brain to such a degree.Using those lamps as the walls looks fantastic... aren't those lamps naturally at an angle? Did you rotate every single one?
If so, wow. I have a lot of patience, but I don't think I have THAT much!
The boats-as-teleporters thing is really cool, I love the look.
Which brings up a good question.. Is there a macro to pop an item ready for placement? If so, can the value degree of angle be set? That would be the only way IMO to do such a project. it would be cool to hit a key and have a 39 degree angled desk pops up. -

Progress of the mini map so far..
Now that the foundation was laid it allowed me to place the floor tiles I wanted to use to texture grass, conrete and brick. Or at least attempting to. As for accuracy of scale and floor textures, alot has been left to creative flare with the understanding that I would rather complete quickly rather than spend the time fully detailing. I am sure I will be way under 7k for the map. I will have enough for the observation room and overhead paths (like in Vanguard RWZ). Almost done but I am kind of burnt on this project. Might stop for a bit to muster more ideas. At a point where certain ideas are allowable so I dont get into the remainder of the buildings only to want to change all of them. I already have to a point cuz I am liking the cabinets with the glass face out. When I am all done, some buildings might be lit if I can make it look right with glass cabinets. I know for sure which lights I will recess underground for me street lights. Thats really gonna make the map pop, IMO.
I hope you enjoyed the visit! Feel free to send a friend request if you enjoy base editing too.
The slideshow is the first link under my signiature -
I brought this up a couple days ago and don't know if anyone had brought it up before.
Since we have no base raid anymore, why dont we nerf AE buildings and put them in our SG. SG arena events can hold SG status/ranks which can also lead to coalition envolvement/ranks. With the thought from another thread using the AE engine to drive a SG base probably sparked this idea so I guess its not my idea but it is one that sparks more SG envolvement/coalition and I think brings out the true dynamic of AEs intention.
...Just a thought -
Quote:Thanks for the links cannonfire...
But im really after a SG builder only as I have read loads and had advice from frinds and im still getting nowhere fast lol.
I do have a question though that i forgot to ask...
As I have 3 mill to spend I can now upgrade plot size but i dont really understand which rooms i need for what I.e. Control room and how many connections are needed, i have a control room in my base but can not connect (think i need AUX but it says im maxed)?
Rooms have a kind of default connection. The room sometimes finds an alt doorway when one is blocked by items. If you are having an item in doorway issue, just remove those items and you should be good to go.
When I made a small base to big base,I kept in mind the plot change(after countless headaches I learned my lesson). The cathedral base was based on a modular base that had versatile hall segments built so I could always center a hall with the ready made chandeliers. It worked brilliantly, so in this phase for deco purposes along with room location changes due to plot size increase... you should keep that in mind. IMHO
As far as which rooms for how much prestige, also depends on how many SG unlocks you have to say which items better suit you. I am not too pro with the mainstream rent free base cuz I was always earning prestige at a high rate. "Which rooms?" were never my issue. With secure plots, for me, granted the ability for 2 of the biggest energy and control items, aux items from that point on is purely deco IMO. Huge bases are exetremely overkill so seeking it is probably more along the lines of earning prestige out of habit or trying to top 100 your SG. I got to 41 on Liberty as a 1 man SG and I was satisfied with that and moved on to stacking more legos and still have more prestige then I know what to do with.
IMO, you have enough to build a no rent full functional base with all the storage. Now that bases allow teleport pads to have 6 locations, I dont see mini bases having any trouble at all. I would look under forums for rent free or mini bases. The most current thread would be the ports being hacked now. Those threads will probably talk about small bases and how they are going about with 3 million prestige.
As far as your control room not having aux item click "on". Make sure it isn't that starter control room(3x3), the one that turns the base on with a combo pack... that wont power you nor does it connect to aux control items. I could be wrong, but I think that may be your control increase issue. If not, I could be wrong and soemone else knows better. But if you have the first affordable control room(3x3) then thats your auxiliary problem.... I think... -
Quote:Magic the Gathering Red magic user? Heh, I am Blue/White/Black. Go figure all I play on CoH is fire.Hi
I have returned after a 2 3/4 Yr break, My base is ok It was made in 2005 but compared to most I have seen (Coalations etc) my base doesnt look as great as theirs :-(
Its pretty basic with only 1 floor (having 2 floors I have no idea what to do friends have explained but i just dont get it)
Im on Defiant server and I am looking for somone with a spare alt slott on Defiant, make an alt and to join my SG and become the base builder (with my input on style etc).
If you can and wont be able to thank you enough ;-)
Plz contact me by posting/send me a PM, or simply send me a global message @Flush-VIP
And i will get back to you asap....
P.s. If you join you can stay in SG ' The Paragon School For The Gifted ' also get a special promotion with all privilages, just as a leader (Exept the Kick out of SG option).
Thanks - Steve
I have 2 huge projects toward their final phases. I cannot help with the base build, but if you need a tutorial in game how to stack a second floor then send me an ingame tell or global email and I'll try to help the best I can be it appearance or ingame chat. Second floors are very easy and new item movement makes it even better. Forget what you knew 3 years ago, editing has been alot more fun since then.
Good Luck and hope you find an editor dying to stack Legos. -
Hey Folks! I have revised the slideshow of mini map's progression.
The foundation is now an acceptable texture to lay the rest of the buildings. Most of the buildings might get scrapped or revised once completed for proper scale and also I found that the glass cabinets facing out was found to be a nice feature in the detailed model. I hope you enjoy. I will post close up shots of store fronts "fire alram" event.. basically the interactive locations. So far, I am having a blast with this project. Probably the most fun I have had base editing. I suppose I am somewhere around 4k items when the inner buildings will be complete.. Maybe 4.5k.
I hope you enjoy the visit!
It is the first link under my signiature.
I was originally gonna use Jacobs ladders for street lighting. Its what I usually use when I make my Godzilla destroying DT Tokyo room. They tech microphones seem to have a better look and they are not animated which will reduce my rooms lag.. hopefully. Best to stay away from animated items til last phase or drop them all together. PCS' base was supposed to be surrounded by trees, The amount of trees would have corrupted the base, So in the pics of Greek Theme you'll see stone hands. They will be re-introduced to the PCS' base.

Quote:My request is rather simple, since we're on the subject. It's something I've wanted since I first created my base and something I'll continue to hope for until it's received.
Windows.
Yes, Windows...
LMAO! I know, right? We have so many rooms yet no windows. I have had similar thoughts. I have over 50 doorways and no doors? A doorway without a door is called... a hall?
I am confused why the only door we have is a "three door" door that has a monster icon on the third.. ok folks, we thought it was funny when we first saw it, but who actually uses more then 1 of these in their base. Any deco item that has only 1 basic use (attempt at being clever and funny) and so many years later. I say to the devs, "Really? dude... really?"
accessible doors/elevators to make an outdoor or upper level possible along with higher ceilings is what I'd want in the near fiture. I have no idea how hard that would be able to do.
I haven't been envolved with forums, I only logged on once wayyy back to find out and make sure I was stacking right. I haven't dug too deeply into Dev requests. But here's an idea since all of these posts envolve getting a Devs attention. Why don't we request a Dev host a 2 week forum for us or another in game chat channel that is hosted by a dev for small sessions. Is that possible? At least we as editors would have a solid answer if something is or isn't gonna happen.. and if a change could be done.. How long would it take? I think these are fair requests cuz they are free and deserve attention. The question to me now is, "If we knew that one dev was actually listening, then what does he/she have to say?"
Can someone provide me with the thread in regards to base revisions that has Dev envolvement if there is any? And if there hasn't, does this idea have any merit worth pursuing. Cuz it sounds like we all have a sense in understanding why we might not get something done... what we like to edit with (which seems we all have the same needs)
I would just be satisfied for the now with dates of revisions no matter how far off they are. Even with the game content, this game is rather boring with the same edit tools. The more I read these forum posts it seems I will have paid several hundreds of dollars/time to have this done. If thats the case, I think we deserve to know rather then have a dangling carrot that isnt really there. -
Quote:What you want is a map editor.
It's taken a while for these thoughts to coalesce in my head, but bases are small time, and we're not thinking big enough for this to happen and get everything we want. Think about how many years the base editor has languished..
For a long time I wondered why bases even had so many room restrictions such as: decorative rooms that can't hold storage and only has the plot sizes of limited choices... why does this even exist? They should scrap all the rooms and having one big room.. "Map". This idea should have been done way back before they released SGs to us. I understand to make ingame content, the priority, is obviously to keep ones interest interacting/toiling over a subject over time. I am surprised that the trend/pattern of revisions to the game isn't so obvious to the dev... When they made this game.. they made way too many obstacles to get from goal to goal, example would be having 2 different train lines.. ultimately resulting in the joint of the 2 transit systems. A telepod that increases to 6. An AE map editor over a base editor wouldn't do it for me but the integration of the two would satify all my gripe/grief. (good post). O yea, and base doorways..Why the heck do we need 1 column seperations in base from room to room which limits overall are size? Didnt these in fact limit a base raid? Why not make a wall an item that acts diff then a item, like a true barrier item vs decorative.
When it comes to my monthly cost and services rendered, I truelly believe I am living in a rented space that has a leaky faucets and everytime a maintenance actually shows up, its in and out only to change my heater filter. It really feels like my needs are not as important as other tenants and that my needs are aparently not being met. In that regard.. this subject not being addressed is pretty F-d up that we even have to talk about it for more over 5 years.
The game is great but the script of ingame actions to achieve a set amount of goals is based on toiling... that's my only issue with the game. It's not so much the editor only... its the WHOLE game that has alot of redundant travel/toiling for no reason whatsoever. For a video game, I am still hooked; I love it! But, it's like snowboarding here in Southern California. We actually spend 8 hrs on a 1 1/2 hour stretch of road, only to stand 45 minutes in line for a 3 minute rush. The difference between this video game and RL fun is that the whole point of this game I dont have to travel/work around so much to get only so far. I truelly think that is the root of our in game experience/problems/limitations and needs to be revised based on these patterns. And base edit is a constant reminder of our old days of toiling over time for a set goal.
To an outside observer one would ask, "then why do you even play such a game?" My answer would always be, "as long as I can base edit, I have something fun to do" ... if this is going to be ignored, then I have to rethink what games I play and moreso which ones I buy and pay a monthly to. -
Progress of the Ninja base's Steel Canyon Map room.
Steel Canyon and IP are (somewhat) neighboring Zones and also, where Tsoo start to emerge. My base is written into its Ninja theme to reside between those zones. The map room is stilled under SC but storyline wise, but could render any map of the world. ~for the development stage of their plot to establish my base. (I have ideas that when done with minimodel I would make a minininja base as a future model of my Ninjas over running it. The base would be located on northside of Steel, where the lake would be my submarine's path to base entry. Heh, I had been thinking about this one for awhile since PCS asked me to do a Greek Theme and we feel I pulled it off. So I hope you enjoy this post! Thanks for stopping by and your comments! If you are interested in miniatures for control rooms tech oriented cool stuff, send me a tell. Im sure itd be easy to make a less laboring scaled mini say 1:48.
I was considering doing the whole PCity if the base has room after its theme, the map room, and the forced perspective rooms(outdoor look).
I hope I can spark a trend if there hadn't been one before. It's been alot of fun cuz the texure combos seem to be alot more common and detailed solutions seem very fun to find. Posting some lil buildings can be a fun miniature trend.. so if you wanna join me... makes some minis and post them here! Its for fun!!! I'll delete any negative comments on pics other then my own. (I don't take negative comments as bad when an artist is asking for a critque by publically displaying his work, so "ya have that one on me!") But in no way would I obligate someone to endure the same negatives on any of my threads. -
Here are some progress shots on the Boats. Snow Globe brought up a good point on another thread regarding base item max. I remodeled the boats for far less items. Also by using small ceiling domes I got the boats I wanted... ones I can lay on the floor diagonally at 30-45% angles to show less right angled patterns of baots... like a japanese version of Battleship the board game. I was pretty satisfied with the boat's outcome. It is also a texture pattern I can stretch to diff loooks cuz the only items utilized are basically domes and bridges.. whcih bridges can swap axis... this IS the way for my theme(boats/canal theme) The base max probably wouldn't have ever been an issue, but Snow Globes input did make me stop (it was a great benchmark to consider base amx cuz the scale miniature was at the time 2,500) coincidentally solved a problem I have been having ever since I decided to go with a base floor texture to faux water. Thanks Snow Globe, a stroke of luck was is credited to you.
As shown in my Cathedral base theme Me and a player that went by Colorado Ram ( Colorado Ram and his SG The Midnight Fight Club was the first SG to ask me to help edit an energy room using my Cathedral textures. We came up with the Chandeliers you'd see. I am going to try making them with the wood looking item of power. A cheaper way and more basic and the lamp will have a wider rim. Plus it wont look so spanish iron looking as the ones did in the cathedral base. Thanks for stopping by and your comments! I am glad everyone is enjoying my fun.

Quote:So many accounts, so many solo (and/or inactive) bases, so many new "Freedom" accounts with untapped access potential. . .
Wouldn't it be lovely to see a bright, shiny new Apartment building spring up in AP, a building with a lavish lobby and helpful attendants in said lobby, including a concierge, vendors, who know you by name.
Lobby opens into a luxury elevator, or series of elevators to penthouse apartments. You enter the elevator and it takes you directly to your (one of 3 or four possible prefab) apartments, available blueside, account-wide (a separate one redside). The view is magnificent, overlooking Atlas and giving you a birds-eye view of the city you are trying to protect. If you are a member of an active SG which has a functional Base, an escape hatch can take you directly there in seconds.
You go to the closet, touch a hidden button, and the wall opens up to receive your hidden valuables (salvage, enhancements, recipes - account-wide access **may be level restricted). You hear a buzzer - a friend requests entry & you 'buzz ' him up. after some small talk, you hit the escape hatch & pair up for some crime-fighting goodness.
Implementation:
Probably requires that Solo/inactive SG Bases fade away - personal items return to owners by email to include all SGs with fewer than 15ish active members.
Economics:
This could be made economically attractive to NCSoft if -
The Single Penthouse Apartment would be available account-wide.
Basic level with some customization is a VIP perk, larger, more specialized, more customization is possible through the market. (may include alternate settings - underground access, , enhanced storage, luxury furnishing sets, in-house pets, personal assistants, etc.) Apartments may be licensed on a monthly basis or purchased outright from the market by Premium players.
Just a few thoughts on a subject thats already been thought to death.
There was a chat channel for awhile previous a summit, I believe, I brought up vaulted ceilings or striga mission type ceilings with elevators to even higher levels. I wanted base above hole in the floor parking garage, elevator to atlas building elevator top floor would have been door outside. I miss that channel. Was cool cuz it was supposed to be proposed and if I recall someone reping developement in some way, came online to chat with us. I was willing to just settle with an assortment of items we already see in game, casino, video games etc. Heck, even as an expansion pack. But that was a bit over a year ago if I recall. Maybe someone else can provide more detail to my vague tale. -
Quote:My thoughts are that you will hit the base item limit well before Steel Canyon is completed.
You may very well be right. So far Im at 2,500 in that room. The whole base might not have alot of detail because Im using the walls as most of the base structure. I count +9 more rooms at 600+. I might make it under the limit but that doesnt mean I won't still glitch my base. LOL I guess it will be a room no one can go in with out a lock up. Or worse, finish 1 block short of the glitch and not be able to find it.
So far, this has been very fun. -
-
Im trying so hard to kill this post. I have a redundant showcase of these pics. Sorry to clutter our forum.

Well, it's thrid day on this project... or is it the 29th It's all one fade to me. Let me know what you think. Please send me any pics you have if you have done minatures and please note scale. Thanks, I hope you all enjoyed the post!

I have always had this idea of having a map room (like in RV) that had over hanging pathways(like Vanguard in RWZ)of the entire Paragon City. Since this I went ahead and started a 1:24 scale of Steel Canyon. I am currently close to 5,000 items. I dont think it will go over 6,000. I am treading very light on animated objects and so far, see no concerns upon completions. Once the room is done, It might get scrapped. I just wanted to do it and catalog it. The mini Steel Canyon is linked under my signiature.
progress os Steel Canyon miniature
http://www.flickr.com//photos/188606...35611939/show/
The Steel Canyon map was chosen because it was my first notice of Tsoo which plays into any story arc I choose to write into the SG. This base resides between Steel and IP. If there's allowance.. the uncharted area between Steel and IP will show my base in miniature as well.(if you notice the plot room has 3x8 west of the SC map) It all depends on the rest of the bases item amount. It is the Ninja themed slideshow current link under my signiature.

I have tried concave domes ceilings before. I think you are gonna have to give up the same texture, but what I try to do when I cant find a solution is to make some sort of conflict in the continuity, if that makes any sens. Example, If you cant make a dome, then make damged whole in the ceiling.. as if the dome had collapsed... and make the ceiling look like the sky? Or build it damaged and build a scaffold to make like its being rennovated.
I made a Millenium Falcon in my base, one that had walk through to both upper and lower turrets and hidden stroage space. The problematic concern during the whole build was how the heck am I supposed to make the cockpit... I tried flourescent lighting to spoke it... that didnt work, I tried item of power.. that only worked to a certain extent. I even tried control desk's profiles for the lower half of it.. that didnt work.. so with all that crap that didnt work ,floating there, I decided to put the control item to look like a kind of hangar's repair station, and IMO it was thee only solution, because the hall to cockpit wouldnt travel through anyways.
City hall OMG it just occurred to me you might have meant the outside. LOL nevermind. But if you meant the inside. the first paragraph applies. God, at this point why did I even post this.
I hope I helped in some way.
