Hello All!

Thought I'd share some pics of my progress...

After the cathedral base was demolished, I started making a Ninja base. The base will not have any slow fields to faux water effects. Instead, the whole base is on water. The entrance has a submarine secret entrance into the middle of the base. Infirmary room will fork and meet at port rooms to either side and wrap around to the fortresses main gate. The port rooms have been fun.

Since the theme is on water, the port rooms are fashioned with boats.. or at least the attempt at making a boat. This boat is the second I ever attempted. The first one looks somewhat like a fishing boat. My next obstacle will be making a boat at a 45 degree angle or better 30/60 degree.

My NW and NE rooms will have forced perspectives that have descending lines into a horizon with ocean view. I'll also fashion it with my favorite room,(it will be the fourth one Ive done) A Godzilla themed room with monsters destroying DT tokyo. I haven't seen anyone do nor heard anyone doing forced perspectives. I hope this sparks some interest or someone knows where some good pics of people who have had the same idea(s). I hope you enjoy the pics and I hope you look forward to my Ninja Fortress theme in progress.

Awesome!

I know I don't post much in regards to the base builders creations but it really warms my heart when I see masterful works done that take full advantage of the new editing tools.

To me, that means that my efforts in convincing the devs to put them in was time well spent.

Very nice work!

Ignoring anyone is a mistake. You might miss something viral to your cause.

Heh, Thanks for your comments. Yes the shift and ctrl tool are very handy. The Cathedral and Greek bases unfortunately didnt get to utilize that ability. But at least I wasnt stuck magic desking everything, eh? What I want in base items (god the list is huge) probably the most dynamic request would be Higher celiling, casino and video games, axis swaps(x,y,z axis'), and decorative vegetation(ivy, fruit, segmented tree parts(banyon tree arbitrary/serpentine).

16 bit video games would be awesome in base, some of us who log on arent playing but chatting. Having a game like billiards or darts would be so fun while in game between league building.... event arrival... why not? The subscriber is ingame! isn't that the developers agenda? I think things to do between events are great, so a 16 bit video game in base would be perfect, IMHO

Those are incredibly imaginative - and push the limits in so many ways. Fantastic.

Here are some progress shots on the Boats. Snow Globe brought up a good point on another thread regarding base item max. I remodeled the boats for far less items. Also by using small ceiling domes I got the boats I wanted... ones I can lay on the floor diagonally at 30-45% angles to show less right angled patterns of baots... like a japanese version of Battleship the board game. I was pretty satisfied with the boat's outcome. It is also a texture pattern I can stretch to diff loooks cuz the only items utilized are basically domes and bridges.. whcih bridges can swap axis... this IS the way for my theme(boats/canal theme) The base max probably wouldn't have ever been an issue, but Snow Globes input did make me stop (it was a great benchmark to consider base amx cuz the scale miniature was at the time 2,500) coincidentally solved a problem I have been having ever since I decided to go with a base floor texture to faux water. Thanks Snow Globe, a stroke of luck was is credited to you.

As shown in my Cathedral base theme Me and a player that went by Colorado Ram ( Colorado Ram and his SG The Midnight Fight Club was the first SG to ask me to help edit an energy room using my Cathedral textures. We came up with the Chandeliers you'd see. I am going to try making them with the wood looking item of power. A cheaper way and more basic and the lamp will have a wider rim. Plus it wont look so spanish iron looking as the ones did in the cathedral base. Thanks for stopping by and your comments! I am glad everyone is enjoying my fun.

I can't get over how authentic you managed the houses, I'd really like to see them firsthand - how did you get the thatching, if I may ask?

Using those lamps as the walls looks fantastic... aren't those lamps naturally at an angle? Did you rotate every single one?

If so, wow. I have a lot of patience, but I don't think I have THAT much!

The boats-as-teleporters thing is really cool, I love the look.

Just went walk=through with cannon - thanx

Regarding the walls/lamps and thatching, he did something much smarter & easier than swivelling each piece - he built the huts at a 45 degree angle, so the individual pieces did not have to be meticulously turned.

Its an amazing base, I was way overwhelmed & inspired by the detail & creativity. Great job!

Thank you very much! The lights are already angled, I am a big fan of angled walls so those items fit right into the theme. But now that we have axis swap Im sure I would have used the ceiling lamps had that been an option. But since then I tried it and didnt like it as much, when the off lit and lit ones combine it has a lighting enhancements that other lighting doesnt seem to have so these are the better choice. I can only imagine the person who is willing to go that extra route and spin every item in a room has definately got one over on us. I have no plans to hurt my brain to such a degree.

Which brings up a good question.. Is there a macro to pop an item ready for placement? If so, can the value degree of angle be set? That would be the only way IMO to do such a project. it would be cool to hit a key and have a 39 degree angled desk pops up.

I dont know how easy it would be to add that feature to what we have, but it might not be difficult to just select-copy-paste an existing item at identical angles. That would ease the tedium by tonnes.

Thought Id drop a couple of progress pics of my base.

This is so incredible! It's really inventive how you've used the arcane items in the cathedral and the lamps to create the Ninja Fortress. I love that samurai head you've created with the spooky arcane mouth door.

I'm still desking everything, but I love seeing your progress on these creations!

Your base inspired me, for sure! I'm working on a Ninja themed fortress as well. Your use of the accent lamps really is what did it. Of course on my end... I /am/ actually rotating each lamp, instead of just building it on a 45 degree angle.

Here's a quick shot of my work in progress. Was in a rush and forgot how to minimize the UI, but you get the idea. Used coffee tables to make a raised floor as I plan to have an outdoor area leading off a veranda. The shot is from one hallway, looking down into my dojo, where I also attempted to make decorative sword stands.

Also, what did you use to make the roof of your fortress? I've been pulling my hair out finding something that would do the trick nicely.

Your bases are awesome. I can't imagine the number of hours it took to make. Terrific job!
