Lost Girl on SyFy

So SyFy has a new series dealing with Fae/Faery/Sidhe. Turns out it's a Canadian series from 2010.

Main character is Bo who doesn't know she's one (turns out she's a succubus). She does know she's something since she keeps killing lovers which causes her to skip town and change identities.

One night she ends up saving a young street urchin/pick pocket who got roofied (Bo was bar tending) which made the local seelie/unseelie courts aware of her and now insist want her to choose a side.

Okay first episode. Don't get all excited about the nudity warning (butt cleavage and side boob with carefully positioned long hair). But there is a fight scene in a warehouse that's straight out of CoH. It was a case of "hey I know that room".

I guess it evolves into a PI series like Dresden was.

First episode was your typical story introduction... meeting the players, setting the circumstances. Even so, it was done in an engaging fashion, with hints of things to come. Will be keeping my eye on this one... especially since it follows Being Human.

Being Human was what I turned on SyFy for. Lost Girl is kinda reminisent of The Nine Lives of Chloe King, without its charm, so I was going to give it a pass. Also the story felt off, and too simplistic and contrived, but what ended up getting me interested in this one is the main character really having no qualms about killing people or fae. So I'll give it a shot for a bit and see where they take this.

As for Being Human. I'm glad they pretty much condenced the BBC second season in one episode. I wouldn't have been able to stand a full season of Aiden showing his ineptitude as the vampire leader (which they did with Mitchell), and the prolonging of Nora's secret (which they did with Nina).

The general premise of this show (fae girl who didn't know that she's fae gets involved in the shenanigans of other supernatural critters) sounds as vaguely related to Sookie Stackhouse and/or True Blood as it does to Being Human. I imagine it'll try to do its best to be as much like those shows as it can. Sounds like it might be worth a try anyway. *shrugs*

Too little too late. The only reason I got cable years ago was the Sci-Fi network. Since then I've grown so disgusted with the direction their programming has taken I cancelled my cable subscription last August.

From what I gather Lost Girl is on it's 2nd season in Canada. It's simply another inexpensive filler series, like Merlin, that they wedge in between their repeats of Ghost Hunters and their library of cheap fantasy/horror/disaster movies.

Oh and I enjoyed Chloe King. Sadly teen girls didn't. Guess not enough hot guys and/or high school/relationship drama.

Yet another vampire-ish show?

sigh.. Buffy! Come back as a TV exec and stake these shows to dust!

I want a spaceship show, ala Firefly, Blake 7, Farscape, Star Trek, etc, but there's nothing.
