hey guys. I started a fire/earth dom and I'm looking for a villain group. I like the ones that are very active and I'm totally cool with getting kicked if I don't log for more than 10 days or something like that. Name's Aeroclasm. I'll be online now for an hour or two so if you see me please invite me.
If not maybe we could arrange a meet in game some time? -
Quote:This is some good feedback. I think you built nicely on it and I wouldn't mind this set. I kinda figured that my steal would be a no go but I'm glad you seemed to like bribe and payoffInteresting idea. I modified your power set as follows.
Thievery
Hide: standard stalker hide
Concealed presence: a lot like the melee defense power from ninjitsu
Steal: You have stolen the secret of your enemies. You have a higher chance to land a critical hit for a short period of time.
Illusive shadow: same as the ninjitsu ranged and AoE defense
Thief dexterity: similar to recharge reduction power offered in electric armor and super reflexes. It also offers various status protection.
Bribe: A mag 3 confuse power that uses some of your inf to bribe an enemy into assisting you. It has a recharge of about 1 minute base. This gives you enough to confuse a minion of LT but not enough to confuse a boss. The inf is deducted after the enemy is defeated. (I think there is an issue if the player doesn't have enough inf if it is deducted at the beginning)
Payoff: PBAOE -damage power. You quickly doll out money to all enemies in your immediate vicinity in an attempt to convince them to pull their punches. Amount of inf used per enemy would follow the same guidelines as bribe.
Invisible hands: A toggle that offers a chance to fire a smashing attack after each attack of yours. (Not sure if it's possible)
Master thief: The same duration, recharge and crash as other stalkers' tier 9s. You have stolen the powers from the enemies around you. Their defense, resistance, recovery, and regeneration are reduced and added to you. It also doubles the amount of inf earned during the duration of the power. (Not sure if it is possible to increase inf earning from a power, but it sounds interesting. I added more to this power such that it can be more than just money)
BBQ_Pork:
Oh, I'm sorry. Theives are only allowed in swords and sorcery MMOs? I must've been confused but I guess you're right and there's absolutely no way to make a modern day theif. In fact, when do you ever see a villain in a comic book ever steal something? I mean, it's not like we have other elements already that swords and sorcery MMOs have. Maybe when we get broadswords and shields and Bows and dual blades and all that jazz that those fancy swords and sorcery MMOs have I'll bring up this powerset again. -
Quote:Ok cool, guess it's working fine then. Sounds good.Assuming lv50 Obliteration pieces, that should give you:
120 / (1 + 1.3193) = 120 / 2.3193 = 51.74s recharge.
There may be a rounding error somewhere in Mids' (I'm being as exact as I can be, on the spot), or you're not giving your exact set bonus values. Either way, the number you're reporting is better for you than the number I've calculated for you.
Edit: You would need less than 2% more recharge than you claim you have in order to get HoB down to the recharge time Mids' is reporting to you. -
Quote:I'm pretty sure I'm good on all that from what I can tell. Right now in Hail of Bullets I have 5 obliteration set IOs slotted. in addition to that I have +42% recharge in my totals from set bonuses. However my HOB recharge is shown as 51.4s. Is this right and I'm just getting my numbers in my head mixed up?Nope, set bonuses are not affected by ED (and neither is Luck of the Gambler +rech IO, afaik). Perhaps the rule of 5 is what has you confused? You can only have 5 of each identical set bonus active, so you can only have 5 +5% recharge bonuses active for example. Mids can show if you have any set bonuses affected by this, check the View Active Sets button and look for red set bonuses.
If that's not the case, then the View Totals button will show you the amount of recharge you get from sets+active powers (Hasten, AM etc), while View Active sets will show you the total set bonuses you have. Compare these views and see if anything in there doesn't add up.
I'm fairly certain that the recharge bonus is working ok because it's being applied to my powers that are unslotted and taking away a little over 25% of the recharge time.
EDIT: If I take away all the sets except for Obliteration my Hail of Bullets recharge is shown as 61s -
Quote:Really? this is what I had been doing but the number doesn't seem right. I guess the bonuses are effected by ED too? that's the only thing that makes sense. Dang haha1. Just hover over the power or lock it, and look at the recharge in the info block. It will show the new recharge number in green and the base in parenthesis. This will include slotting/hasten/global rech.
EDIT: I was hoping to get the recharge of Hail of Bullets down a bit more. Oh well, still this frees up slots from other powers since I won't have to slot a recharge so it's still real useful -
Hey,
So I'm just now getting into mids and as a result I'm also getting into the invention system. My question is, is there a way to see what the recharge of my powers will be with the recharge bonus from IO sets factored in? thanks
Also, this is unrelated but I don't feel like making another topic, how do you guys typically keep a good constant flow of cash coming in? Lately I've been doing ouroboros arcs for the merits and then cashing them in for rare salvage and selling it. This hasn't been too bad. What do you do?

Hey guys,
So I was thinking the other day about something that I think this game is missing that used to be a staple for MMOs: a theif class. Sure, we have stalkers which play a lot like rogues with the stealth and the assassin's strike but I was thinking about one class that kinda centered around money. But then I got to thinking about it and I thought it might be better done as a stalker secondary. The concept I was going for here was a character that wouldn't have quite as good defenses as the other sets but they would have more utility powers to help make up for it. So without further ado here's my (kinda unfinished) idea for a new Stalker secondary.
Thievery
HIDE: standard stalker hide
MELEE REFLEXES: (obviously not a cool enough name) a lot like the melee defense power from ninjitsu but slightly worse.
STEAL: The trademark power from the set. I had a lot of trouble thinking of what to steal. Basic Inf seems the most obvious but it kinda doesn't make sense RPwise. But I guess I'd go with that. Also I was thinking Lts would have about a 10% chance (maybe less) to steal an enhancement much like they would drop upon death. And bosses would have the same percent chance to steal a common IO recipe.
To help balance things I think this power should have about a 10% chance to break your hide (the baddie noticed you rummaging around in his pockets) and if you used it out of hide it would cost more endurance (harder to steal something when they're paying attention.
The recharge should be enough that after SOs it would be used maybe once every spawn. So maybe a base recharge of 1-1.5 min?
RANGED REFLEXES: same as the ninjitsu defense for ranged powers but slightly less effective
THIEVE DEXTERITY or BRIBE: Ok I wasn't too sure how bribe would be taken by the community so I'm offering a more common power too. THIEVE DEXTERITY would basically be the recharge reduction power offered in electric defense and Super Reflexes.
BRIBE would be a mag 3 confuse power that uses some of your inf to bribe an enemy into assisting you. I'm not sure what prices would be fair but I was thinking something like 300 inf to bribe a minion and 800 inf to bribe a LT. Not sure if that's good enough to make it actually a penalty though. Has a recharge of about 1 minute base. This gives you enough to confuse a minion of LT but not enough to confuse a boss.
*Just to be clear* this isn't two powers for the player to choose from while leveling up. This is moreso if the developers didn't like the idea of bribe then they could make the set with the recharge reduction power instead*
Payoff: PBAOE -damage power. You quickly doll out money to all enemies in your immediate vicinity in an attempt to convince them to pull their punches. Amount of inf used per enemy would follow the same guidelines as bribe
*I couldn't think of a tier 7 or tier 8 power*
Tier 9
MASTER THEIF: The same duration and recharge and crash as other stalker tier 9s. This will be a much smaller defense boost, probably just 10% to all. However it also doubles the amount of inf earned during the duration of the power. That includes from steals and kills.
So what do you guys think? I know that I personally always like the powersets that are very different from the rest and have utility powers so I was trying to create something like that. I may have gone a bit overboard though and I'm sure my balancing isn't perfect.
Also, if you have any ideas for the other two powers I'd love to hear about it
-Ice_storm -
That is true. I think this would have potential though to get a lot more people into IOs. I mean, I'm trying to get into it now but it seems pretty freaking hard until level 50. There just don't seem to be enough people selling recipes in the lower levels for you to actually be able to get what you want it seems. Then again maybe I'm just having trouble because I'm playing at such odd hours that I'm missing out on the high commerce hours.
-
I understand that the market is undergoing some rennovations with going rogue so maybe this'll happen anyways but I've been thinking for a while of something that would help me a lot.
It would be nice to be able to place a single bid on a recipe over a range of levels. By this I mean, if I want Positron's blast: Damage/Range but I don't necessarily care about what the level is since a lot of the percentages are so close, I would like to be able to place a bid for one recipe from say levels 31-35.
The way it is now you either gotta place several bids in order to cover whatever level someone will end up getting and putting up for auction or you have to get really lucky and pick the right level.
Not sure if I explained this adequately. Anyone else think this could help?

I love unlockable stuff. Especially costume stuff that's unlockable. This way, it's not gamebreaking, but yet you still feel like you accomplished something.

Quote:Not sure if there's any way to do that.Hello all
I was thinking about an idea I had and wondered if anyone has tried this. With the introduction of issue 16 and the ability to customize power colors I was thinking that using that to keep track of anchors might be doable. I've tried several times to customize my Radiation anchors (Enervating field, Radiation infection) so that the coloring would be more predominant on the anchor then those around him/her in the power field. I've had very little luck getting it to work the way I wanted though. My goal was to use the primary color so that it would show only on the toggle and the secondary color so that it would be the effected field color. I'm thinking that it can't work this way, but wanted to see if anyone else has tried this before I give up on the idea. Thanks much!
The biggest thing I can think of is changing the color of your anchor toggles from the other colors in the set. This way you can say green guys are good to kill and red guys mean there's an anchor in there so be carefull. Still kinda the same problem though I guess. -
Where do you think the extra money from the booster pack sales is going? And why do you think Going Rogue isn't released yet? They're working on something big....
-
Quote:haha yea there'd definitely have to be some interplay between the two. That just sounds stupid what you described hahaI'd love to see this added, but only if they can do it right. Champions has sheaths, but they aren't connected to powers... you'll still have your sword in a sheath on your back while pulling a second sword out of thin air.
It actually looks sillier than the CoH method...

Quote:Cool thanks. I'll take a look at it. I don't want to fully IO out but maybe I'll through a few in to get some defense bonuses. Here's a S/L softcapped blaster with recharge at 95%. The new version of Mids is giving a +40% resis bonus for some reason to my blasters, so just subtract that in the totals menu. I think I took this build from Outlaw Omega, whoever that is on the forums (thanks, works great btw). I know your primary and/or secondary may not be the same, but it will give you some ideas for slotting. I realized yesterday when I posted that you probably have no resis powers to slot a steadfast. You can slot a blessing of the zephyr knockback protection in your travel powers though. They're just a bit on the pricey side. Hope this helps

Also, thanks for bringing up using lethal ammo for knockback. I hadn't been using it at all and completely forgot just how much knockback we get on our powers -
Quote:Yea I just hit 22 today and My damage seems to be going through the roof! I agree I'm definitely noticing guys go down fast. And being able to fire off attacks while held makes soloing a LOT better. I've never been able to tolerate a blaster until now haha. Definitely enjoying myself so farAnother option would be to take the ice epic for the s/l defense and control. With some decent slotting you can get your recharge over 80% while still being capped to S/L. You'll be able to avoid most melee attacks and many of the ranged ones. Slot Blessing of the Zephyr in your travel powers to get yourself above 20% ranged.
The only trouble with this will be concept. You can't customize epics, so you'll look like an icicle. If this bothers you I like fire and force as alternates. Fire for Rise of the Phoenix and force for an extra AOE, God Power and some resistance.
The mez will still hurt you, but at least you can fire while held now. I've never kept acrobatics in a build, not with IO's so readily available. As far as help at level 21, you can get a steadfast KB protection IO which will keep you from getting knocked down/back as much and you can team to 22. Once a blaster hits 22 the damage gets a lot better with SO's. The death of your enemies is the ultimate mitigation. -
Hopefully we'll eventually get this. I've heard of a lot of stuff like this that's requested (quivers, scabbards, etc.) and I strongly support any awesome additions to the costume creator. I understand it could be troublesome but it'd be worth it if we got it somewhere down the line.

Hey guys. So I just hit 21 on my DP/NRG blaster and I'm having fun. I'm now starting to get into the levels though when soling as a low defense character can be a bit harder. I don't solo 100% of the time with this guy. I'd say it's something like a 50/50 split between soloing and teaming, I just like to have to option open to me. There's a few questions I had though.
Acrobatics - should I take this power to help with the knockback and mezzers? is there a better way to take care of those? Obviously I'll be targeting mezzers first and now that we can fire off some attacks while mezzed is it even that important?
heals - should I just stay stocked up on insps or should I go for aidself? I know it's interuptable and hard to use in the midst of a battle but still. Oh and what about the chance to heal IOs. I don't plan on buying most IOs but if these are really really helpful I don't mind using my 50 to finance them.
thanks for the help,

Quote:This is my impression too. People go freaking nuts any time something gets nerfed but when it gets buffed everyone's happy. Much better to have a slightly underpowered set and give it some minor buffs than to have an overpowered set and spend a year or two trying to nerf it down to good standards.I'm sure the devs have a close eye on DP. Time will tell wheather there needs to be an adjustment. My impression is that the Devs would rather a new set be underpowered when it is introduced rather than overpowered. The nerf backlash is just plain nasty.
I mean look at the progressive nerfs to /regen and other sets like that. People still play them so they still work out all right but people were livid when the nerfs first went into effect. -
Quote:I'm not the most experienced blaster but I also would assume ice would be the most popular. I think sonic has some powerful ST attacks too though.Lets here it, what is the best ranged ST setup. Lay it out with all 3 sets please.
I assume Ice will be most peoples primary choice. But I could be wrong.
I'll throw out a guess, haven't played this myself: Ice/Energy/Munitions
Also, if you can, please say why the synergy of the sets enhance the damage, strategy of staying at range and doing great ST damage.
As for secondaries if you're talking about STAYING at range I'm not sure /energy would be the best. I'm playing and /energy blaster right now and although he does have high single target damage he doesn't have many great tools for staying at range besides power push.
I think /ice is generally considered one of the best for keeping stuff away from you because of shiver and ice patch.
I don't know jack squat about the ancilliary power pools -

In the past, the devs have been loathe to change animations, as the people who are opposed to changes to the sets they have enjoyed and grown used to greatly outnumber the number of people who would be drawn to draw a set by the new animations. They have only made such changes where there was clearly no alternative, such as with the Sonic animations which were making many players of the game, even those not playing the sets directly, violently ill, to the point where they were driven from the game entirely. I expect this will change now, with Power Customization, and some of the alternatives that people have suggested for different Powers will be made available as customization options, so the alternates can be selected and used, or not used, as the player sees fit.
I wouldn't look to it happening overnight, though.
I'll also add that right now you can EITHER customize the color and/or animation of your Power OR you can customize the weapon. Archery, Dual Pistols, Broadsword, Battle Axe and so on allow you to choose what the weapon looks like, but the effects and the animations you use to make the attacks cannot be changed. Fire Blast, Energy Blast, and even psuedo weapon effects like Fire Sword in Fire Melee or Stone Mallet in Stone Melee can be customized and you can change the color of them, but you do not have a "weapon" that is constant across all Powers and customized independently of them. It is possible that later changes may allow modification of the machine gun effects as well as the machine gun itself, but it is equally possible that only one of these two values can be edited and saved, and not both of them.
I get what you're saying here and I don't expect it to happen overnight or anything. Just kinda pointing out something that I'd personally like to see somewhere down the line.
I also noticed that you can either customize the weapon or the power but not both. I'm not sure if this is because of limitations or if it just kinda never came up before but if I could have myself shooting white hot flames and lasers then it'd definitely spice things up for me. Different animations would be gravy but not completely necessary. -
No they haven't added anything like that and I don't think they ever will. They have however made a lot of the leveling experience more friendly.
There's Missions that you can create yourself so you can make enemies weak to you.
There's patrol xp. for every hour a character is logged off you can some credit on your xp bar and will earn 1.5X xp until it wears off.
There's temporary travel powers that can be gotten early on and more zones linking to multiple zones and SG base teleports so you can get to your missions much much faster.
And most of the powersets are much more balanced. The ones that used to be Uber may not be as good anymore but the ones that used to be the suxxors can at least hold their own for a little bit solo now. -
So I've been having a blast with my dual pistols blaster lately and it got me thinking about the other weapon based blasting set that I've never been able to get into: Assault Rifle.
I've tried many times to start up an AR toon and just have never been able to follow through on it and I'm starting to notice why, in my opinion the animations are just plain boring. Pretty much every power goes, point gun forward, pull trigger. Sometimes bullets come out, sometimes a grenade comes out, sometimes flames come out but it still feels the same every time for me. Now if we could have fancy alternate animations that'd be great and I'd be happy but there's another thing that could do it for me: being able to edit the projectiles and such.
Shooting bullets over and over again can be boring. Shooting bullets on most powers and having one power that shoots lasers could be awesome. I'm not asking for a change to the damage. Much like /shields can get a fire shield or ice shield that still does the same thing. That's all I really want.
I also want to be able to change my flamethrower color.
From what I remember about when the devs were getting ready to give us power color customization this may be too much of a commitment for just one powerset but I'd certainly love to be able to make some of these changes. Maybe I'd finally get into an Assault Rifle character.
Thanks for listening,
-Ice_Storm -
nobody has any numbers on this yet? I'm really surprised haha
-
I went with DP/energy. Main reason was for the early build up and for the power push power. I just love being able to shove guys outta melee range.
-
hey can anyone give me the numbers for the secondary effects of swap ammo? How much damage does incendiary averagely tack on? How much is the -dmg from toxic? and What's the -recharge from cryo?
I was also wondering how often you guys usually swap your ammo? When solo I typically start off the fight with an aoe with toxic rounds, then I get another shot or two off before switching to cryo rounds for another aoe. I only go incendiary whenever I feel completely safe and feel like taking stuff down faster. What do you guys do?
Thanks
