Badge to Cape designs

First of all, i mentioned this as an idea back when EU and US forums werent together so i dont know if this actually got to anyone, so i thought after all this time id post it again to see what peoples views are of it. it was welcomed to many on EU and hope this gets in the game.

Add the badge icons to the cape design options. or even yet when you unlock a badge, you unlock its icon/picture design- just like the Arachnos symbol.

I love the look of "Born in battle" badge and would love to see it on my cape as well.

Anyone else like this idea?

I like it - something useful gained from a badge and a soak for all those multitudinous tailor tokens I have

If you mean an outline, or two color, representation of the badge selected on the capes; then I dont see a huge problem, but if you mean a full color badge; then probably not. Just saying since the capes are inherently two color so far, and I'm not sure if the mechanics would be easy or not; SCR applies.

Great suggestion. Some badges are pretty nice looking and they would look cool on capes or perhaps as chest detail. Unlockable is good idea also.

I love unlockable stuff. Especially costume stuff that's unlockable. This way, it's not gamebreaking, but yet you still feel like you accomplished something.

But if it was an untintable graphic then it might be possible. There are already a couple of examples like this in the game, such as the row of medals.

well i was thinking a two toned colour at first cos of the engine, but can always be upgraded to full badge colour when able.

or even have the outline of the badges on the capes if it makes it work.

The cape system doesn't support adding separate graphics on top of the cape. Notice that you can't add chest symbols to the capes, either. This is unlikely to change, as it means either a substantial reworking of how capes work (and by extension, several NPC costumes, including Ghost Widow's hair), putting two cape systems on a character - one invisible except for the badge icon (which violates the dev's self-imposed 'one cape system per player character' design rule), or else creating [Cape Types] * [Number of Badges] new capes (copies of the existing cape, with the badge icon added).

There's also the issue that many badges are pretty low resolution.

On the other hand, you might do well to ask for badge icons as chest or SG emblems, since both badge icons and chest emblems are essentially a simple image.

Actually, based on observations of character faces, this might be possible. As you are all aware, most faces contain non-color-tintable parts - the eyes, for instance. What's interesting about this is that the faces themselves can have color-tintable patterns added to them, and when these patterns overlap the eyes or other non-tintable parts, those parts remain unchanged (example: Streak. There are no eye holes in this pattern, as shown when it's used on a face without untintable parts, like the Supernatural face with the "glowing" eyes, yet on most faces it does not change the eyes). What I'm thinking is having each badge unlock a new cape style that would be identical to the existing standard capes, only with a large untintable badge symbol in the middle, with some exceptions - it wouldn't work on the Scarf cape, for instance.

A simpler way to do it would be to just have each badge unlock a new pattern for the standard capes - it'd be shaped as the usual rectangle, with a two-color pattern version of the badge. While the first way of doing it is only something I suspect is possible, this version is one I know is possible.

Both of those ideas are essentially the same thing, except the second idea restricts the texture to the 'standard' cape.

I'd love to see this applied to shields too, probably even moreso than capes.

I thought they probably were, but since I'm not 100% certain on how non-tintable areas on tintable costume parts work, I listed them separately.
