Moreover, your character names of "WYLDE-FIRE" and "...PUNKT" question your credibility as they have blatant grammar mistakes and spelling errors. Should we respond with "Zomg...Roxxors"?

I'd be wary of teaming with said player in the future unless she mixed it up a lot more and became more buff conscious, but I'd just leave a note on the player and move on.
She did not "Defend" the team. Spamming heals and being a "H34LBOT" equates to only one thing clearly: "A H34LOR spamming the green while effortlessly sucking XP when rest of the team labors for XP." (And, yes, I know what I am talking about. I've purposely made an Emp-Fender to spread awareness beyond green spam).

Furthermore, your point about Fortitude is correct only in the recharge aspect at low levels. However, that "H34LOR" could've had Fort and consistently cast it on atleast two teammates at a time. This would've made a dramatic difference, regardless of team wipes or not. And having CM for a Posi comes in handy, because of it's quick recharge/low end cost that can be applied to team with ease. The only annoyance is the short duration. Having both Fort and CM in the "Teens" would make "Defending" the team more legitimate.

Players that are "H34LB07S" are wanting....go play WoW if you want to roll such.

He is a beast already, but I do have Energies/Elements ED slotted at three each. Is that benefit so minimal that the slots could be best used elsewhere? Maybe RPD or somewhere else to set up another six slot for a set to be more beneficial?

What's the deal with the passives?
Regarding making your toon defensively potent, here is something to look at http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=126983. Please know this is for Invul Tanks and looking only at Invul itself. However, you can use this guide to "tinker" around. Moreover, much of what CallMeAwesome recommends for slotting are quite cheap.

His guide is "one" way of hitting soft-cap for Invul tank.

As for a SS/Invul Brute someone has one, but I don't have time to dig it up right now.

    Hope this helps.

    Burn/Ice Patch

    Hey folks,

I know about the changes made to both powers from some time ago. Just wondering if these have good synergy still. And if I should expect a really good output of damage versus the effort (Burns dmg vs. mobs running away in fear and cap on ice patch).

I do see some folks aren't happy with them because they are looking for more ways to keep foes in vicinity of combined powers.

I would rather giggle in glee than somewhat glee.

    Thanks in advance.

Normally, I wouldn't care, but it has also seemed to lock out all of my extra character slots. I had 5 free ones that I just used up the other day, and now they are all locked. I don't really want to delete a character just so I can make a new one.

    Thanks!
I just petitioned too. I am missing extra slots on two servers as well as extra character tokens. Suddenly all gone.
  6. Hello folks,

Hope all is well. After I "subscribe" to a thread, I am unable to to "default" back to my page number like in the old forums. So, besides for the fact that I must be denser than lead, what am I missing?

For instance, I subscribed to a thread in Player Guides on Page 5. After doing so, my web page returned to first page of the subscribed page; however, I could not find a way back to previous page number (page 5). Instead I had to go page 1 of Player Guide forum and the only visible page numbers were in this order (1,2,3,11...). Of course arrow tabs were there for me to rifle through but this is such a waste of time to get back to page 5.

I can't even use "back arrow" on my web browser.

    Thanks in advance.
  7. I admit I have always been wary of Ice Melee for its notorious reputation. However, I really appreciate the "Honesty" in your guide. I wish more folks were as thorough as you and as objective. Because of your guide, I am going to finally roll a Shield/Icer. It too can be "Strong and Pretty" (reference to EA Brutes...once was laughing stock of secondaries).

I hope this guide doesn't get buried in the backpages, but I think Ice's "unpopularity" will make it so due to many "uninformed" COXers.

that's not saying to neglect your toggles, but they are just a side-effect on your endurance management and on average are fairly fine with a just one slot worth devoted to endred and any other slots devoted to whatever other aspects that you want from it that are enhanceable.

ideally you dont want to use more end then you gain, or you'll faulter is sustained battles, but situationally, many variables will play a part in the battle that can not be accounted for in pure raw data

    2. Typed trumps Positional in Psionic (some psi attacks do not have a positional component)
    &
Positional trumps Typed in Toxic (there is no type defence for toxic)

... other than that, they are pretty much the same (hit/miss is only checked ONCE against your strongest applicable value),

and depending on the power set's strength is where you'll want to build upon (WP, Ice, ect... provide typed def and so your better off building upon them then you are starting over and building on positional; SR, SD, ect... are positional based so your better off building on them then you are starting over trying to build typed),

but in general it is just easyer to build on Positional (3 catagories) as oposed to Typed (7 catagories) (such as in Regen, FA, ect... case where you start out with a blank def slate)
Ah...it's look like i'm not that loony. Thanks for clarification about Defense.
  9. Thanks for reply.

About point two (Defense), I understand; however, I don't know why I keep thinking that in some "rare" cases either Typed or Positional trumps the other, regardless.

Dovetailing from your example, let's say a Psi attack that is---ranged with smashing and psi damage---and I have both Typed and Positional Ranged at 20%, one of these can be overcome?

Might not be best example. Or am I just loony?

    Thanks in advance.
  10. Hey folks,

Hope all is well. Because "Favorite Threads" have been wiped, I haven't had much luck finding my old piles of information and my "SearchFu" sucks. Two questions for a fuzzy memory:

    1. What is a good ratio for Endurance usage versus recovery for non WP/Regen and such toons? I know this is a "broad" question. For most powersets, I just do the standard 3 slotting of Stamina, use Atlas Medallion and mostly aim for 32% end reduction for most powers (more if needed).

    2. "Typed" vs. "Positional" Defense, iirc, one generally trumps the other?

    Thanks in advance.

And also ask yourself how long have you been silenced and what kind of channel rule did you break.. ;P
    Thanks for reply.

Wow, I have no clue what channel rule I broke because I never say anything rude or argue in those channels. I (lurk in the shadows) because some "public" channels are clicky and not very welcoming to "non-regulars". I just basically tune into those channels and "observe" for COX details while my son is asleep.

The only thing I can think of is I had a recent disagreement with another "Veteran" in Help channel on a popular server where some of the "Helpful" folks in chat are also members of so called "Public" channels (in name). These folks tend to flip between Help and their channels. Also some of them are connected to other channels on different servers that are also so called "Public".

Heh, your guess is as good as mine as to why I got "Silenced".

    Thank you again.
  12. Hey folks,

Hope all is well. Is there a way to know if you are "silenced" in a Chat Channel?

By chance I tried to type a comment in a Channel and I was unable to, because I was told something like: "I do not have permission...". I was surprised by this message because I have been able to comment within the past several years.

Also by chance, I clicked Friends tab above chat boxes and looked in Chat Channel list/tab in where I saw a huge white box next to my name. In several other channels I saw this box too, but in other channels, nothing next to my name?

So what gives? Thanks in advance.

If this is the case, wow, I will have more to comment...

I'm not savvy with tech lingo, but I hope what I say helps. I don't see Demo software. And there is an Nvidia File that is taking up 80.9 MB. The number 1,174 MB comes from when I open Windows Control Panel and select to "Add/Remove Programs".

I also an icon that has Nvidia Control Panel settings (down at the right corner bottom of my screen) in toolbar. If I open it, I can adjust settings and such.

    Thanks in advance.
  14. Hey folks,

Hope all is well. Today, I was cleaning my hard-drive of old programs and such, and I noticed that my Nvidia Driver takes 1,174 MB. I downloaded the driver a few months ago.

Er....is it me or is this unsually hoggish?

    Thanks in advance.

Any time you see a ninja carrying a katana the person doing so failed in their research. The ninja-to was designed to punch through armor in a stabbing motion from concealment, hence the shorter, relatively thick-spined blade and long hilt. The shorter straight blade was also easier to use to slice a jugular with than a katana. It was worn over the right shoulder to facilitate stealth (hard to be sneaky when your scabbard is bouncing off of things in the dark) and the shorter blade made it possible to draw from that position.

The katana required much more space to use effectively than a ninja-to, which was also designed to use in confined spaces. A ninja-to did not have the same power in a slashing motion as a katana, the longer curved blade added power by slicing and drawing the entire edge along the target. Since ninjas relied on stealth, such an attack was impractical and would draw too much attention should they carry their slash all the way through a target and strike something else, making more noise than necessary. A stabbing motion was more easily controllable, so their weapon was designed with that in mind.

Edit: The stalker's Ninja Blade is actually a good example of the ninja-to, the color tintable version's dimensions are actually more realistic than the Legacy version, which was slightly too large. People who call that weapon a katana are mistaken.
What you stated is correct about the Ninja-To.

However, you are not correct about interpreting what I had written. You assumed that I (somehow) wrote/stated that Katanas ARE Ninja swords. I stated that Ninjas often used Samurai weapons against Samurais; hence, never did I state that Ninja swords WERE Katanas. I was implying that they (Ninjas) carried them (Katanas) on their backs, if, and when retrieved. Sure, drawing a Katana from one's back is not at all tactically sound. I did not elaborate because of time constraints.

But my comment was made in response to OP saying that:

"Katanas do not go on the back.

ALWAYS the left hip, to be drawn by the right hand. If DB with katana blades, then they are still both on the left hip."

Thus, this person is shooting down someone else's suggestion for Jetpacks and such because it would not "seem" realistic to him/her. It's a freaking game we play. It's meant to be "fun" not so "realistic". If Superhero costumes were meant to be soooo serious than we should rethink Superman, Batman and so on (who run in tights) because they pratically never rip their "suits" from intense physical combat.

This is ONLY true for Japanese Samurai. Okinawan "Samurais" carried katanas in left hand which made them generally better at sword fighting. Okinawans trained to use scabbard and sword simultaneously (scabbard in left hand and sword in right) unlike Japanese Samurai who depended on two hands using sword.

Also, you forget that Ninjas would often use Samurai weapons against Samurais, so Ninjas did not carry Katanas on left hip (as you state) rather on backs.

Be careful of being pretentious...doesn't look good.
  19. Hey folks,

Hope all is well. Just noticed (since new Forums) I cannot find my "Favorite Threads". I had a pile of helpful threads. Also, I don't see an option to sticky a thread to be favored.

Er...am I missing something or was the function obliterated?

    Thanks in advance.
  20. Hey folks,

I dusted off my lvl 28 EM/ELA brute (to my regret, forgot how monumentally painful he is). I just about pulled my hair out from NPCs regularly doing the following when stunned from my EM attacks:

    1. "Miraculously lept off into distance whereby I chased killing precious BU 10 sec. timer."
    2. "Wandering away very quickly".
    3. "Stunned but scurried out of range".

The frequency of NPCs doing this just made me want to do "Hulk Smash!!". To rub salt in the wound, it was enraging to be pwned mercilessly by Orange, Blue Ink Tsoo and Red, Lt. Ancestral Spirits. All the while, my dependecy on stuns and Aid-Self were ineffective.

Just wondering how NPCs can be so "fortunate"; Yet, when players are stunned we can't push direction keys fast enough to move us away from instant dirt naps?

    Bravo if WAI.

And, nope, both Hero and Villain never deleted--just "collecting" dust for a few years. But I have consistently logged them, especially due to market 60 day rule and, now, day job badges.
  22. Hey folks,

Hope all is well. I just noticed something that is making me go: "Huh?".

My selection for making "another" Kheld/WS is blacked out. The choices are blacked out for same or different servers. IIRC, this was never the case. Did something change?

However, this situation has always been normal for Redside Epic ATs, right?

    Thanks in advance.

Also I think WP has some def debuff res.

But if you find yourself in trouble and don't want to hit the ground, taste the rainbow, pop a purple for more defense, pop a orange to take less damage, pop a green to get some hp back quick, and pop a red to kill quickly.
