I know I am retarded, but.. STONE/NRG

My friend has a 44 golem with pom poms, he does well in tanking , that much is easy with whirling hands and mud pots combo. Besides the obvious, what do you define as "effective", doing the most dmg isn't exactly top priority for a Golem tanker. My best advice for exemping down would be; to take Rock Armor, Stone Skin and use a tough and weave combo, it's easily done know with Dual builds. But it's the best for exemping down to the low levels.
Hey all. I recently made a stone tanker and am about to respec him at 39. My brother leveled him for me while I was gone and says with a good respec he should be ready to play.
Thing is, I cant' find any good guides for Stone/NRG that aren't all based on the super IO combo sets that I can't afford unless I want to buy influence from Gogara or whatever they are. Is there a recent stone/nrg guide that could give me a better idea of how to go about this? I want to be able to Exemp down with him, or Uro with him and not die, but I also want to be an effective tank. Can anyone offer a good solid build that doesn't rely utterly on IO bonuses to offset how poorly engineered the powerset is? I greatly greatly appreciate any help you guys could offer. |
Energy is strong all by itself without the -Dmg from Granite. Besides using the typical build at low levels (Stam, Aoe Taunt, Heal) it's all pretty much straight forward.
"If you can make a girl laugh, you can make her do anything"
"You're like Giraffe's, the way you look down on me, with your vegetarian scorn."
From Stone Armor you'll want the following:
- Rock Armor
- Earth's Embrace
- Rooted
- Stone Skin
- Mud Pots
- Granite Armor
- Possibly Minerals at level 41 for a half-dozen missions of all psi damage
- Barrage
- Bone Smasher
- Whirling Hands
- Taunt
- Energy Transfer
- Total Focus
- Swift, Health, Stamina
- Recall Friend/Teleport
- Hasten
- Hover - this makes using TP for travel much easier.
Slotting choices are pretty open, a Granite tanker is the next best thing to unkillable even on SO enhancements so you don't need to worry about IO bonuses for defensive purposes... look for recharge or runspeed bonuses to offset Granite's penalties. Don't neglect the basic enhancement values of your powers for bonuses however... you'll want to ED cap the defense of Rock Armor (~55% enhancement) for example; Rooted needs ~90%+ of heal; Granite needs ~55% resistance first, THEN ~55% defense enhancement.

Fuzzy memory, for Stone, shouldn't swift be 3 slotted to help with movement?

Certainly, I probably should have mentioned that... mea culpa.

Yes, slot 3 runspeed into Swift; it won't solve your mobility issues by any means but it does help.
