    Comic Relief

The first silly thing I want is more options for the brain in a jar, I would like to be able to put a drown on mustache on it (Snidly Whiplash style of course), and fake glasses with mustache would be nice also. Fish swiming in the jar, yes.

A small shruken head, like at the End of Beetlejuice.

    Elephant head, with animated trunk.

A no part option for all the body parts, so if I wanted to toon that floated around instead of having legs, or if I wanted a brain in a jar, with no body underneath it, or arms and legs and a head, but no body.

Yes, I know that, and I was very tempted to buy them. Here is the problem, I have about 20 controllers and dominators who could use them.

For an example my electric/time controller can slot 4 sets. In the end, if I don't get bored and stop playing him, or find anouther toon I like to play more, I will most likely end up slotting him with 4 sets of them gotten ingame. It will take a lot longer and be more overall work, and I would love to just buy 4 sets for him, but 4 sets is 20 dollars. Thats a meal out with the wife. I'm trying to figure out where what I'm personally willing to pay lays.

At a dollar a set, I would try to get them ingame, and if they are not availble or cost too much, I would just grab them off the market. At 5 dollars a set, I'm not buying. I would guess that at around 2.50 a set is where I would switch from yes to no.

The problem is I want multilple sets, so its not just 5 dollars, it 15 to 25 dollars for 3 to 5 sets of them. At 2.50 a set, I could buy 4 sets for 10 dollars, which is my personal point where pocket change turns into real money.

The other problem is the level bracketing. Yes I know that many people slot Basilisks Gaze at 50, but why does it not go to 50. In the game, thats just the way it is, but now you are asking me to buy them with out of game money, which brings it into the out of game metathinking. And out of game thinking says that the reason it does not go to 50, is because a Dev wanted me to chase stuff in game twice, to up retention.

Now that I think about it, I'm not sure why there is so much bracketing in the system anyway, it just complicates everything and I can't see where it adds any value to me. If the Kinetic Combats, Basiliks Gaze, and Luck of the Gamblers had run from 10-50, I would have bought several sets of each for testing to see if it actually makes my playtime more fun and productive. The Kinetics I would have bought 4 sets of 4 to save to use on my TW tank when they release it. I would have bought 4 sets of Lucks to use on a SR tank I made but have not had time to play. And I would have bought 6 sets of Basilisk Gaze for my newer controllers and doms.

Right now when I get to 7, I start buying set IOs, and its good. There are some IOs, they are cheap, and the salvage to make them is available. Then I get to lv 20ish and I start having trouble getting the set IOs I want and the salvage for it requires long bids to get at a decent price. And then you hit the 30s, and the really good IOs are very expensive.

Which means more time at the market and less time playing. Or running a farming toon I don't like as much as the toon I want to play, but I need to run to get the recipes I want on the toon I'm not playing.

I've several times recently almost decied to just use common IOs till I get a toon to around lv 47, to save all the game time I'm spending not playing the game, but dealing with the market.

If the devs made all IOs so they are attuned, and got rid of all the bracketing, I think it would make the game much better. Probably not going to happen, but a guy can dream.
  3. I bought 20 of the +global recharge. I would like to have bought whole sets, but at 5.00 dollars a set, it is just too much to pay.

When the Numina's are released, I'm going to buy as many of the +rec/ +rec as I can, because every toon I have, except for a couple of MMs, has end problems.

As I posted in the feedback thread, if these were availible in the market all the time, I would likely buy them when I needed them, but buying them just in case I could use them makes them too expensive for me.
  4. I spent a hundred dollors to get 9600 PPs, which put me over 12,000 total.
I then bought 5 sets of the xp boosters, because I have a bunch of toons that are stuck in my personal "the valley of death" that is lv 38-47. Maybe this will help them get moving on.

I then looked at the Kinetic combats SBE, put 4 each of the best 4 in my shopping cart, and could not bring myself to buy them. I'm looking at a little over 1200 points (or more than 15 dollars) to buy these. I have lots of melee toons, but they slot what drops, or I can buy cheap at the auction house as I level. In order to use these, I would have to either respec existing toons, which is a huge bother, or remember to build my new toons so they can use them, and since it does not become slottable till lv 20, run around with what I can find cheap to level with till 20. All in all, to expensive (even at the sale price) for possible future use, to much trouble for existing toons. If these were available all the time, I might find myself buying them as I leveled, but right now they are just too much like work in my game.

I also looked at the Basilisks Gaze SBE. I can slot those at lv 10, which means I can use them on the bevy on new dominators and time controllers I've recently made who are in the 10-20 range, but I'm looking at least 5 dollars each, and I'm not sure that I like them that much.

I then went to the Luck of the Gamblers, and here I bought 20 of the +global reacharge IOs at 113 each. I thought about buying whole sets, but again 5 dollars times 1-5 for each character. It just did not seem worth it.

Instead I spent the points on 10 more recipe slots and 5 more auction house slots.

So what I've found out about myself is I'm cheap, who know.

I would like to have the option to buy the IOs from the market, but I'm very price sensitive on what I am willing to spend cold. If I were in the middle of playing a toon, and got a new power, and could just grab the set I know I would finally want on that and stick one in the power, and slot the rest as he got more slots, so the cost was done a bit at a time, I would be willing to pay more.

But if you really want to hook me, make SBE sets that have more range, so I don't have to wait till lv 30 to start slotting them, since I'll have something already slotted in there from when I get the power. Or that I can slot at 10, but they top out at 30, so after that I'm looking at having to get unslotters or do a full respec to pull them and then I have to store them somewhere. All in all right now, for most things it is just easier for me to not give you money and not deal with them.
Because I'm also very very lazy, and that I did know.
  5. I see that you have decied to go with a tank, but I want to throw in my two cents in anyway.
A electric/time controller. It has a low level heal to keep you alive when starting out, and by the time you get to around 22, unless you are in a big group, it is controlling everything, so all your wife would have to do is shoot fish in a barrel all day.

The pun is it soulds like is slow gin, as in the alcohol.
  7. I've got a lv 20 electric/time controller, that is the most fun I've had with a toon in a while. There is great synergy between the two, with both liking to be in melee range. You can get Jolting Chain at 6, which knocks down mobs. At 4 and 8, you can get Time's Juncture and Conductive Aura, both of which are toggle 25' aruas around you. TJ slows all the mobs around you, while CA steals mobs end, and boosts your own.

So by 8 you can knock down most or all of a group, run in and by the time they stand back up and try to attack, they have no end.

And at 12, you get Static Field, which is a big sleep patch, so you can deal with bigger groups one by one. Also most of my problems with low level toons is is caused by running out of end. With CA so far I have been able to run both toggles, and drop the patches, and heal and still have more end rec than I am using.

Did I mention is has a very nice heal, so what little damage the poor slowed and with no end mobs can do with brawl, you can just heal right back up.

The only downside I have found is lack of damage, and getting on a team or taking a couple of pool attacks, if soloing, should fix that.
  8. My electric/time is only lv 10, so I have not seen the later powers, but I intend to keep jolting chain in, because every time I use it, and knock a whole group on thier butts, it makes me laugh. And then I'm standing over them, and they are slowly getting back up, and thier end is going away, I laugh some more. Electric/time on a DFB run is the most fun I have had in this game in a while. I can't wait to see what I do on a Posi.

Am I missing something?

Plus te invention pass and market pass at $4 per month
When I got paid, I bought $15 worth of PP on each of my 3 accounts. I got 1 market token on my account I had already bought some on, and got 2 tokens on the other two, so I must have been wrong about getting 3 tokens the first time. To test, I then bought 3 $5 sets of PP, and got anouther market token at that point. So they track the fractional part and you get a token for it also, which means that at the $15 level, you get 11 tokens per $150. Since buying at the $100 level gives you 12 per $150, I'm not losing that much by buying the lower amount.

Since you buy global character slots with PP, you will get credit on the money you spend to unlock the toons, toward getting the unlocked market pass.

Also, when I checked it was 1600 PP for 5 character slots. So if you put $100 into an account, it will get you 8 market tokens, which gets you perm market pass, and spent it all on slots, you would have 30 slots unlocked on that account. So it is not cheap, but it is not as bad as you were thinking.

Also, there is a chance that the store will put character slots on sell, like they did with the 90% off on character transfers. I can see arguments either way about putting those on sell, but I'm no where near a good enought marketing wonk to be able to guess which way they will got with it.
  10. Lifetime market access is a tier 7 perk, so you are looking at either 21 or 27 market tokens to get it. So if your account had already been running for a couple of years, you might already have it.

On my new free account, and assuming that one token per 15 dollars is accurate, since when I last bought 15 dollars in Paragon Points, I got 3 tokens, I'm looking at spending 315 (best case) dollars to open it up.

My plan is to spend 30 dollars a month on PP on that account, so I will get it unlocked in around 1 year. I'm going to run with TOs and DOs until I hit 22. At that point I'll decied wither to use SOs or spend the points each month to open inventions and run with IOs. Since I'm not sure how much I'll be playing the two toons on this account, I'm not sure how it will go.

I get paid tommorrow, so I'll try to remember to post back and say how many tokens I got for my 15 dollars.
  11. Under crafting gear/ max level 30/ defense sets/ defense you have the 3 Paragon Market IO set Karma, including the knockback protection one. There is no listing for resistence under defense sets/ and thus no place to put the Steadfast Protection PMIOs.
Since under max level 40/ defense sets/ there is a resistence set listed, I'm guessing that the missing resistence set under max level 30/ is a bug.

So two questions, did this ever come up in Beta, and did the Devs say that it was intended that there be no matching Steadfast Protection PMIOs? Second did the boards ever settle on what to call PMIOs?
  12. I took my lv 33.5 fire/kin into Urobolus's lv 3 arc. When I set myself to +0, it set me to lv 3, which ment I could still use hotfeet. Nowhere near as smooth a run as with a brute, but I did get to lv 35, in about an hour of play. I'm thinking of pushing on to lv 38. Then I should be able to jump over to a more regular farming map or do the ITF to get to 50. I eventually want to be able to farm +0-+1/X8 missions for purple drops on this toon.

So very much thanks for this thead, my fire/kin had been lagging at lv 31 for years, and running tips missions on her is steady, but very slow leveling.

But no matter what they do, people who want the best rewards will find an efficient way to get them. There will always be a big difference between what the devs design as a fun way to play the game and attract players, and what the min/maxers will do to get the best rewards.
My best guess, is they will turn off xp for ambush mobs.
  14. I'm still sitting where I was. 10 IOs for sell, none sold. Things I learned from this,
1 people way overbid. If its is selling at 10 mill, most likely the ones getting the sells are pricing thiers at around 6 million. So pricing yours at around 8 or 9 million will just have them sitting there.
2 Dont get too many of one kind, spread out. I've got 18 IOs, all in the same set, all not selling.
3 I'm not very good at marketing, I keep forgetting that for some reason

The plan is to see if I can sell any of the ones I have by Sunday, if not I'm going to send them to other toons, who I am not actively playing, who can leave them on the market till they sell. Then I'll use my 34 million to see if I can do this a little better.

There is only one way I can think to make this better, leveling pact. Thats right, 2 level 50s for the low low price of 11 hours of work.

I think I will also make toons on every server, just to have storage bases where I can stash stuff. Thus was be born the Brotherhood of the Eternal Connected, an order of monks that exist across the multivurse. I make a Brother <server name> on each server. The only one where the name was taken was, of course, Freedom.
  17. I was thinking about parking a toon at lv 12, to run AE missions only, collect tickets, and roll to make more of the low level -knockbacks and other special recipes.

So the question, is what single toon would be best to have for mass slaughter at lv 12? Also if you were going to do the same thing, but dual booting, so you have two toons, what duo would you suggest?
  18. I logged in after work, and 4 IOs had sold, bringing me up to 64,254,574 inf. I bought some more of the better selling recipe, and the salvage it needs. I posted the rest of the IOs I had already made, but had not had the inf to post. This leaves me at 39,487,494. Those posting fees hurt.

Right now I'm running into the limit of salvage I can carry. I need to spend some inf crafting lv 25/30 and lv 45/50 common IOs to get the badges, so I get more room. Being able to have more stuff up for sell should make up for any lost time and inf in the craftings.
  19. When I logged in, and grabbed my inf I had 10,456,214 inf.

I sold one of my IOs, and got the expected 10 million for it. I still have 2 IOs for sell, that have not sold in 3 or 4 days. There have been a good many sells, but mine are apparently priced too high, going to have to relist and take the loss. On the other hand, all my salvage is here, so I can make all the IOs, and post them.

Ok, I have 7 IOs for sell that should sell for around 10 million each, I also have 3 IOs for sell that should sell for around 25 million each.
  20. When I logged in this morning I had 3,446,149 inf. My big ticket items have not sold, hopefully they willl sell this weekend.
My overnight salvage bids have come in, so I can make anouther set IO, hopefully this one will sell faster.
  21. When I got on today my set IO had sold for 10 million, leaving me at 9,275,504 inf. I bought 15 (out of 20)of the set IO recipes I had bids out for. Each of those should sell for around 10 million. I aslo bought 37 more Ancient Artifacts, which should make me a couple of million there.

I know about the email changes, but part of this thead is showing how you can make money off the market, even if you don't have a higher level toon.

(I only have two dedicated marketeers, although other characters start making a little inf for personal use and get carried away from time to time.)

Also: you're down to 25K? if you need small amounts of cash in a hurry (" a couple hundred K so I can craft this recipe" kinda cash) you can buy level 50 set recipes for 100 inf or so and run them to a vendor (5000 inf profit each.) If you're in Paragon City, the Kings Row setup is a pretty short flight. It's boring and annoying to do for more than 50K or so.
Thanks, the email idea is great. That way I can make an email for each big project and use reply to keep adding to it. It would be nice if you could put more than one item in an email, that way each email could hold the recipe and all the salvage until it was time to craft. But it would also be nice if I could make real money as fast as I do in game.

I was just down to 25k because I had all my inf invested in buying stuff. If I had miscalculated and ended up with a crafted IO and short on inf to post it, I would have done something like what you suggested. I however would have started with the lv 50 SOs. I used to be able to buy them cheaply, and they sell for 200k to 400k each.

Any suggestions for quick prestige generation? Since my fire/fire tank is going to be the only one in the SG, I need to make it as fast as I can. I'm thinking that I will rerun lv 50 arcs in Ourborous. That way I get prestige, merits, and a chance at purple drops.

No problem. I was out of the game for about 9 months, so I will not get the /auctionhouse vet reward till sometime in September.

I'm down to 25k, having bought some set recipes. I was only able to craft one of them, hopefully it will sell for around 10 million, which will give me the inf to buy more rare salvage so I can craft the rest of them.

I have a couple of lv 50s floating around on other servers, I think I'm going to take my old fire/fire tanker, and have him make a 1 man SG base, just to fill it with salvage storage bins. He can them make lowish long term bids on rare salvage, and do ticket runs. The idea is that he acts like a lending library for rare (maybe the others also) salvage. Anyone done this? If so, how did it work out for you?

I was looking over all my characters. and all of them have the same problem. The have a bunch of recipies, and a bunch of misc salvage, and I have no idea why. Some of it I bought to flip, some of it I bought to craft with, some of it is just random drops from when I was playing the character. I think the complexity of the game times the number of characters I have has passed what my middle aged brain is capable of keeping up with. I'm going to have to focus, and start keeping notes if I'm going to be able to keep up with it all.
  23. Since I last wrote, I got to level 10 running with my static team, sold all the AAs I had bought, bringing me up to 10,150,179 inf.

My plan for now it too keep 5 stacks of AA running, that should net me about 2 million a day. I also need to look for bigger income opportunities.

  25. I made it to level 7, picked up tradesman badge, and got up to 5,265,276 inf.

Now that I have more slots I got greedy and have all my slots tied up in buying partial stacks of AA, so I can't sell the ones I have already bought. I killed the smallest buy slot, so I can have at least one group up for sale. Need to make sure I leave some free slots for selling with from now on to avoid that problem.

To Arbegla, yea, the run in Praetoria is a pain, I plan to get Field Crafter on him, but I think I'll wait till I have moved on to blueside or redside, and gotten into a SG after level 20 to do it.
