Elec/ guides and playstyle?
Well, it's not a high damage set, but it can play aggressive. It's more aggressive/safe than aggressive/damage though.

Hehe yeah that was me bragging.
Anywho I've honestly thought about writing a guide on elec/ but the main thing that has kept me from making one is my thoughts on the powers. Apparently my thoughts differ alot on what powers are good and which ones aren't from other forum regulars.
I like to liken elec/ to /ta in that they are both swiss army knife sets. Elec/ is weak in the AoE damage department but the gremlins help alot with that since they both have lightning field and have decent ST attacks. Static Field, IMO opinion, is the cornerstone power of the set. You can have it up often, is a patch that pulses -end and sleep pretty quickly and can be used offensively in conjunction with conductive aura for quick end draining. Synaptic overload is a fun confuse power that can spread pretty far pretty quickly but it has to hit the first target.
Chain fences has all of its damage hit at once so it doesn't interrupt static field. The only powers I personally would skip is Jolting Chain and possibly Paralyzing Blast. Jolting chain is good for low levels since it can keep knocking enemies down but I honestly don't find it worth the end after you get SO's.

Got a Elec/TA (fun!) and Elec/Time (great synergy) and both loving it. Static Field pusles so fast it's no problem using it with Acid Arrow. I must admit I like the comobo with /time more though.
Boomie is right about Jolting Chain. Usefull early on, but later when you get more recharge you might end up using Static Field and the Confuse only. I kept mine and sticked the end mod chance to stun in it.

Jolting Chain has some uses even in the upper levels . . . like against Nemesis, who resist confuse. Or if Synaptic Overload misses. Or if you have teammates who insist on using DoT powers that mess up your Sleep Patch . . . but often those teammates also have AoE Immobs which have -Knockback (like Fire Controllers).

Can you tell me more about the synergy with time? (/time seems great with so many things, is it better with Elec?)
I've seen people raving about /poison too
since Elec and poison are two set I tried but didn;t like (didn't give a chance to?) I'm thinking about trying Elec/Poison to 38 as an experiment.
As it stands I'm kinda meh on /poison atm. I need to give it a good try though, like you said, and get one to 38.
As far as synergy with /time, elec/ is a pretty good pairing. The low levels are a little rough until you can get distortion field and time stop(one shot hold a boss? yes please) but after that it's all good from there. Using conductive aura in conjunction with static field and distortion field makes spawns easy pickings for the team. On a posi and synapse run people mentioned how easy it was because I was jumping ahead of spawns and setting up for them to mow them down. At low levels hasten and even burnout are good power picks.
At higher levels when you get gremlins, farsight, chrono shift and slowed response everything is just awesome. TBH leveling my elec/time has been so much more fun than my elec/cold.

I have a 50 Elec/Rad, pretty pimped our and Incarnated. What made Elec control REALLY shine for me was Power Sink from Mu Mastery. That plus Static Field will drink almost any mob dry in the blink of an eye, AND it can do it without breaking sleep. Add in a little boost from Clarion and the Musculature Alpha, and you will put Malta Sappers to shame.
The Rad side doesn't directly help with Sapping, but it does help keep me in one piece long enough to do it.

Electric lives in melee though, so putting that extra layer of control and safety in with the set helps make it insane. Electric is a set with no truly great powers, but amazing synergy between the powers. Static field, conductive aura, synaptic overload, and jolting chain all combine together to provide amazing AoE control, and Time's Juncture and Distortion Field just add onto that combo, covering the holes where mobs might actually get an attack it.
By the by jolting chain is great, and should be in any electric build. It's great if you miss a control power, and it knocks down bosses long enough for you to stack another hold on them.
My electric/time is only lv 10, so I have not seen the later powers, but I intend to keep jolting chain in, because every time I use it, and knock a whole group on thier butts, it makes me laugh. And then I'm standing over them, and they are slowly getting back up, and thier end is going away, I laugh some more. Electric/time on a DFB run is the most fun I have had in this game in a while. I can't wait to see what I do on a Posi.

Electric control is the only control set I have never played, so I was thinking about giving it a try.
The main reason I have never played it is that it doesn't look great on paper in my opinion, damage and multitarget control doesn't seem as good as some of the other sets. |
I keep trying other things, even going villianside for the patron pools, but I keep going back to fire. I have a lot of trollers, and my playstyle is also pretty scrapper-like, so I guess you could say it's an aggressive playstyle - I just don't think of it that way. Control lets you get up in their face, and fire lets you kill stuff. If you happen to die, a) "work on your control, stupid" is what I tell myself, and b) rise of the phoenix.
Am enjoying my elec/time troller, but she's only lvl 20. Soloed the new lowbie content (*hoorb*!) and now soloing the First Ward arcs, so it will be a long while before I am ready for the epics.
I, too, would love to see an electric control guide. Also a Time Manipulation guide as well!
I run a Elec/Time too. He is Lv 29 at this Time and the Build has great synergies.
I took Paralyzing Blast, but i had never the Chance to click the Power (in solo Gaming). It's a Emergency Power for me.
Attack/Mezz Chain is Static Field, Distortion Field, Joilting Chain and the AoE Immob. Toggle helps again Damage from The awaken.
I Love the possibilty to quickly hold Bosses with the 2 Holds.
It's save but a little slowly Damage, but i can live with it.

On the other hand I some some thread bragging about doing AVs on Elec/Cold, so maybe a ST oriented controller could be a nice change.
Are there any guides on the set, especially some that talk about synergies and strategies on how play a controller?
Since everyone's playstyle is different, I'll tell you that I love my plant/TA, plant/Storm, Fire/Storm, Fire/Kin and Fire/Storm controllers, but am bored to death with my earth/rad controller (so much control, but no damage), so you can see I tend to be the more aggressive type.
Should I look at a dominator instead? (I have only one, Plant/Thorn that is perma-hasten, perma-dom, S/L def capped, so sure, she's fun to play!)
