Actually, I decided ice/fire just for concept and looks as well. Heh. I was tooling around with ice/elec, and while it does have some great damage with aoe capabilities it lacks single target damage which kinda turns me off.
-
I've always wanted to play a tank but for some reason was turned off to it due to the high damage allure of scrappers. Then I moved to redside and well...GR allows me to play redside with the new awesome blue ATs.
Now, here's the issue.
I can't decide what secondary to pair with ice. I was thinking either SS, or fire. While SS of course has great damage with footstomp, fire has some great aoe and single target damage. I don't think I'll need to worry about the mitigation of footstomp with what fire has to offer either.
What would be the better all around one to go with then? Both seem to be alluring. I imagine fire would do better damage especially with fire damage being less resisted than smashing?
Any help would be great. -
I haven't tested shadow meld out yet to know if it roots you. I'm not necessarily focused on soft capping with it, because I'm not intent on relying upon it too much. My main focus is just rech.
And I'm looking at my final build and it appears to be quite awesome. But expensive as hell. -
Yeah, it's just an interesting idea that I was toying with. I realized though, that well, designing a self rez around a hasten focused build kinda is ridiculous, because when you die you lose that haste effect. On the other hand, creating a build around a self res with defense is ridiculous as well, because your goal is survival.
So that idea is kind of out the window. I liked it better with tough in there anyways. Mmm. Back to the drawing board I suppose. Anyone have any more suggestions though? I have a build that gives me about...10 seconds left of recharge time on hasten. I'd like a build that has some good defense focus for fire armor if possible to compare. I love the idea of a max damage build. Shadow meld, jump into a mob, and kill everything asap. -
Max damage basically is the idea. Cycling in RotP seems like a pretty awesome idea as well for AOEs, but meh. I'll have to see. I kind of like the idea of integrating it into my attack chain. Especially with the stun...
-
I also considered just going with recharge and using Rise of the Phoenix in my attack chain if I'll be THAT squishy. Especially at 50 where debt doesn't matter, and I'll be able to deal a pretty decent attack if it gets that bad. This is a REALLY tight build, so I'd have to take out weave, at least until I19 comes around. What interests me is that I could build RotP focused around the stun for the 10% recharge, although its only a 3% improvement over weave with a LotG slotted in, and honestly, I'm missing out on a good chunk of damage if I slot for stun...
This is what I love and hate about the game, so many damn ways to make a build...argh! -
Yeah, that is a downside. However, well, I'll have SOME defense at least.
I'm really trying to figure out my options here. Any recommendation? Because I was told that it's best for fire to go with a defensive focused route. On the other hand, well, that's really difficult with fire, so I figured that I'd mix defense with an "Oh crap" button. MA/FA kills SO damn fast already that it's ridiculous. I definitely won't be able to get a softcap on it though. But...well...that's why I came here. -
I figured that out. On the other hand, I'll also have Shadow Meld with a 26 second cooldown, and thats not including the +kb proc with Dragon's tail.
-
From what I understand, if you are doing a build with MA/FA, when you IO, you want to invest into recharge, correct?
I"m looking into getting as close to perma hasten as possible. It probably won't be doable until I19 when I can drop LOTG recharges into the stealth pool, but still.
My goal is...kind of all around. Mainly to run ITFs and well...mainly to just do a lot of *** kicking. -
I'm trying to figure out which one to go with for pure DPS and survivability.
Shield has shield charge. And AAO. However, I plan on taking Shadowmeld...which will give me some ridiculously awesome survivability with the resists, especially because I plan on doing a high recharge build.
So I guess the question is, should I go with shield charge, or go with the Fiery Embrace+Burn combo? -
Originally I was considering a thugs or demons /storm but I decided to go with traps. So erm, yeah. Well, nobody responded anyways.
So a demons or bots MM. What would you all recommend? I have had several bots MMs, and I like them, but I was wondering how demons stack up. I'm guessing they'd have better single target damage and control, with bots still getting better aoe? -
I'm wondering which toon I should make and focus on IOing out next. Out of your guys' opinions, which would be more fun, and what would I get more mileage out of in general brute terms? I'd like to at least tank Rommie on the ITF and solo pretty damn well on some ridiculous settings. I do plan on IOing out these guys, although I usually don't touch purples.
Any advice? -
Why have the devs suddenly decided, "HEY GUYS, LETS GIVE POWERSETS LONG ANIMATION TIMES." Pistols AND Kinetic melee? Really Devs?
-
I've noticed that some builds don't take Shockwave, and people take Eviscerate. Is Eviscerate given its long animation time really worth it, and is Shockwave really worth it? I imagine while the KB would be annoying, it would be quite useful still for crowd control and survival in certain situations.
Any advice on these two powers? -
I'd be perfectly acceptable with having phallic finger claws. Unless the devs are keeping a claws/stone NPC, and don't want anyone else taking the name for Statesman's greatest rival, Edward Phallushands.
-
I was thinking it would be a pretty good idea to slot follow up with 3 damage procs or so, but according to mids the damage is much lower after the first proc. Should I bother onliy slotting it with one damage proc now...?
-
I was looking for a good solid build, possibly to solo AVs with, and was wondering if either of those two paired with DA would be able to solo an AV? I do plan on IOing them out heavily as well.
Also, for a quick comparison...Spines is a much better single target with decent AOE than spines, and spines is a much better AOE with decent ST, correct? -
I played my scrapper a lot before I moved to villainside on Virtue, and well, I really want to return to those old days of Scrapperlock that brutes just can't seem to capture for me. I had a kat/reg scrapper and I LOVED her, and I'm looking for something that's just as insane.
I'm looking for something with a bit of farmability, but mainly, well fun. And can definitely hold their own, especially in Cimerora. I'm not looking to tank Rommie (Maybe if IOed), but at the same time, I don't want to have to huddle close to the healer 24/7 just to survive.
I was thinking perhaps an MA/Regen or WP scrapper. Or MA/Shield. Especially because I can slot dragon's tail with a KB +rech proc.
I was also thinking of going with some sort of Spines/, perhaps a /fire or WP/Regen. But I'm not sure how Regen compares in Cimerora, especially compared to WP.
Someone, gimme some inspirations! Help me relive those days of SCRAPPERLOCK! -
Alright, thanks. I'll definitely look for a softcapped build.
And I think that there is definitely some synergy at least--mainly the concept of oh hey, everything is dead.
Here's a question then, should I stick with the thugs/storm MM I have at this point? Or what would be a really fun powerset to mess around with on a storm corr? -
I was thinking that the combination of debuffs would be pretty awesome, with PvE and maybe slight PVP in mind. It should be pretty good for combat I think.
Anyone have any suggestions? -
I'm stuck between either mind and plant for my primaries, and psi assault, thorns, or earth for my secondary. I was thinking that plant/earth would be a pretty good combo, especially with power boost, although I was wondering how bad the -kb from plant would mesh with earth assault.
I'm just looking for something really fun. I was also pondering mind/earth.
Any suggestions? Most likely I'll just be going for a permadom build... -
Alright, thanks everyone.
I can't decide atm between going with Mu Mastery or Soul Mastery for my fire/rad corr. I'm getting him into a perma AM build, and while going with Soul Mastery and getting Power Boost will give me some leeway on slots as well, going with Mu Mastery gives me power sink for end which I may really need when I consider how toggle heavy rad is.
I'm looking at power boost right now and...
Yeah. It's...pretty underwhelming that most of rad doesn't get a boost from this. The one thing I do see is that it could give EM pulse a 110% end drain when I have it slotted the way I currently do, as well as adding about 100 points of healing...that's about it. Run speed is increased with AM but meh. I'm running a perma AM/hasten build here anyways.
What would you guys recommend with a fire/rad then? Going with Soul Mastery for power boost, or going with Mu mastery for a 30 second power sink? -
I mean, I know what it does, but what I'm curious in is how long the effect lasts. For example, if I give off a powerboosted AM, will the powerboosted effects stay for the duration of the power, or will it stop after PB fades?
I'm assuming with toggles and certain powers, such as disruption arrow, stop working after the 10 seconds or so.
Can someone give me a clear explanation on this? -
So I was thinking of doing a build just to rip off Iron Man because that movie was incredibly awesome, and I like playing villains more than heroes, so I was thinking of putting for my mad scientist Dr. Von Havencrabs a powersuit, using energy blast and rad RPed as a nanite swarm.
Anyone have comments or suggestions? The only concern I'd have is the KB from energy blast knocking mobs out of the rad debuffs.
[EDIT] I was also considering Elec blast, but I'd like some more input. How much of a hassle is the KB from energy blast? [EDIT]
[EDIT of an EDIT]Thinking rad blast too. DAMMIT.[END EDIT] -
I'm stuck between the two. I know that ninja blade has quicker recharge and less damage, whereas BS is slower but does more damage, IIRC.
What I'm wondering is if the recharge time that you can get with IOs can pretty much eliminate the difference between the two, and if you can actually get more mileage with BS because of the increased damage and eliminating the recharge difference.
For reference, I'll be doing mainly PvE and having nin as a secondary.
