    Zombie Mall

Why zombie mall (and many many other ideas) would be [censored] in City of Heroes:

    1. You can fly over the content and it wouldn't matter.
    2. You have super powers, the zombies are weak in comparison.
    3. You don't need to use weapons on them, just some Immobilization spells and Novas and Fire Imps, etc, the zombies are much weaker than super powered heroes.

So where's the fun in that? It'd be great as a thing to do in the tutorial... pick up (zomg! Picking up something? Can heroes do that sort of sophisticated maneuver?) a baseball bat and whack some zombies (but they would have to approach the player when they aggro, and BaF). Perhaps in some situation where the player is de-powered it might be cool - they have to fight with chainsaws and bats while they find a way to regain their powers, and then it's blam! blam! blam! Seems like it might be fun.

In other words, it'll never happen.
  2. Please make us pay extra for every little thing that is put into the game. Mmmmmm.... no.

Get your relatively cheap epic loot while you can.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ah but if you do that are you making use of a exploit?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes, but I think this particular repurcussion is so far from the phenomenon's source that the devs (as in real life, governments) can't keep tabs of what goes on in the market.
  4. [ QUOTE ]
Well part of the answer is that the main Farmers are no longer farming in the main game (they are farming in MA)

    [/ QUOTE ]

Wrong. They are farming the main game still. Log on at 4am and see for yourself, approx one group of super-short Science Fire/Kins in Peregrine. That's the regular farming guys.
  5. Get your relatively cheap epic loot while you can.

On another note, I think this is a great stance to take. Surely it's the only reasonable course of action you could expect the devs to embark upon given the situation.

I might even start playing again.

Also, I'd rather do a farm map full of minions than a 'story arc' where the first mission ends in an Elite Boss.

I couldn't give a damn how good of an author everyone is claiming you are, if I can't dare to put my difficulty up the one single step from the bottom simply so I can have a normal Boss instead of a Lieutenant when I solo (and I'm pretty sure actual Elite Bosses don't downgrade on the lowest diff anyway), you can stick your arc someplace warm and wet. If authors actually thought to make it a STORY arc instead of a KILL THE SQUISHIES arc I might choose to partake in something other than a mindless carnage map. Which I like. I really do. Every day I like to spend a few hours splattering bad guys all over the walls, it's way more fun than having to once again face down the Elite Boss some **** has crafted to be a debuffing combat monster because their ego has problems with anything less than a large team beating up their 'awesome' character.

Oh and don't go thinking I'm not equal opportunity on this, whoever thought you should be having to grind your way through so many Elite Bosses complete with entourage for the Billy Heck story arc in Port Oakes should be punched in the neck.

I'm irritated now. I'm gonna go kill a few thousand Rikti Comms Officers.

I was a dumb kid, too.

If only you'd managed to get to The Seven Ages of Super-man - curse The Bard for not being limited to five!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Maybe "Ages of Super Men" might work?
  9. I agree with the above posters who say ...
    [ QUOTE ]
Maybe the best thing for CoX would be to revamp the whole first 20 levels.

    [/ QUOTE ]
... but I'd go further and say that the power system needs to be looked at more broadly. While it's fun to get new powers, at about level 38 I tend to be have most of the core powers. While it's really fun to level from 38 upwards, depending on the AT/powersets I tend to find the lower levels to be a little dull, and the mid-30s to be quite frustrating, and it often feels like I'm playing in order to get a power. What superheroes do that? Where does that fit into the superhero mythos? Oh I remember now, it's on the bad side - it's where the villains are.. trying to become more powerful. It's not how I envision regular heroes.

What might be an interesting concept is to give players their most raw, unrefined, but very powerful abilities first, and then less powerful ones but which have good secondary effects as they level and learn to refine their abilities. CoX2 ideas, I guess.
  10. We don't appear to have the issue of sensitive threads being deleted here on the EU forums. I wonder if it is because the EU mods are more tolerant, or because they don't exist?

I suppose at least if they delete the threads, you know someone's actually out there reading them. If they get left, you might give the playerbase the feeling that there's no point giving any suggestions or feedback.

    More cars?

Never gunna happen. Devs don't seem to want to touch old content.
  12. /signed because all the real vets are leaving and there's nobody with the pretties anymore. But really, why not? They've sold out in every other aspect.

Not sure where that came from as didnt even mention farmers...........

    I thought that.

    B) CoX players didn't get much more for our 5th Anniversary

    [/ QUOTE ]

I got a weekend catching up with old friends and two new lvl 50s, one of which I only started on saturday evening. This game is much more casual player friendly than I remember.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm really glad you think that. But of course catching up with friends can be done on both games.

As for a getting a new 50 in a couple of evenings, well I'm not convinced that's a good thing. The Journey is MORE important than the Destination IMO.

    [/ QUOTE ]

sorry for the 'fix' but it is true

    [/ QUOTE ]

I agree. CoX's destination is a barren wasteland (i.e. there's nothing to do at level 50), thus it's important to make the game your levelling process. Now that's gone, there's nothing left.
  15. City of Guides will take US stories, too. THey just need to be ...forced... to use it.

    Ouroboros' fault. Obviously

    I blame Jormungandr
  17. I like what Leese does with the contact dialogue (played the arc with the briefcase in a box, too), it's different and although it's twisting the rules and also reminds us of the limitations of the system (having the contact standing outside the mission entrance doesn't help), it's inventive and suggests that the devs could improve the contact system with a few tweaks here and there.

Mission Architect was supposed to be all about players creating there own epic story lines, giving the player the ability to let their imagination run wild and create something unique.

MA hasn't done that, all it's really done is give certain players the ability to get from 1 to 50 in the shortest amount of time.

So I say make MA what it should have been, a storytelling tool not a farming tool.

    1. Make it so a player can gain more MA tickets per mission/mob.

    2. Take out all XP for mobs , a player kills something that player gets tickets/inf.

    3. The only time a player will get any XP is when a player completes the mission or completes the arc (standard mission/arc end xp).

So anyway there you go my basic framework for bringing MA into more of a storytelling orientated focus.

    Discuss.

    1. Most farms provide max tickets per run. More tickets dropping would just lead to ticket farms instead. Selling their roll recipes and getting inf that way.

    2. No XP = minimum players using the MA. Almost everyone like to see progression. Doesn't matter if the person prefers story over XP, they will still want to achieve something.

    3. Mission completion bonus was left out for a reason. It's extremely exploitable. 5 missions. One glowie to complete each one. Instant XP for no work at all. Rinse and repeat.

In my opinion, the only way to make the MA more story focused is to first admit that farming will always continue. Then look at curving it rather than stopping it.

There's a few things i can think of to do that.

    1. Make the groups consist of minions and lieutenants. An all boss mob is ripe for the picking.

    2. Lower the amount of groups per map. 200+ on dreck map is far too many.

    3. If the dev's really are against farming then make the repercussions of making farm maps more severe. don't just unpublish them , give a warning or something. That will stop in ya face farming.

Anything else won't have an effect are farmers without ruining what the MA is about.

People keep saying get rid of the auto SK feature but if that was to happen i'd just go back to my perma level 46's i have and give myself an SK courtesy of the dev's and their stop XP option and i would have a bigger team. It would backfire.

I'm sorry to say, but it was the moderation as much as the playerbase that kept these boards as pleasant as they were. We've always been in need of a firm smacking down on these boards, and anyone who remembers otherwise needs their rose tinted glasses removing.

I don't know what you're smoking, but this certainly appears to be a one-off perspective. I think you're on your own, there.
