Farming and the Market
Yay. Another farming thread. The other billion on the boards were getting lonely. If I hold down O will they all merge into one giant blobby thread or am I playing too much Loco Roco 2?
On topic I'm not sure you'll need to worry about it for too much longer. Wait and see what the "harshly" means when Posi said he'd be dealing with MA Farming soon. Chances are people will be back to normal mission farming in the next few weeks if the MA changes happen like I think they will.
welll carni if you would have fully read my post u would understand that the "incomming" nerf to MA could turn MA into a complete Joke. as we all know that when the Devs Nerf they go ott and completely destroy the whole thing. this thread is more about getting ppl to farm in PI and LAgs (not about PL)

There really isn't much that you can farm villain-side mission-wise surely?
That's why MA exploded the villains to be honest.

Oh right. You're asking people to switch to PI farming to avoid the MA being nerfed into oblivion?
I'd say it's waaay too late for that too to be honest.
well better late than never tbh. With the incomming nerf CoX is just gonna turn into a massive joke again espicslly when CO is just around the corner and from what i see/hear atm is going full guns blazing to kill CoX stronghold on the superhero MMO place

Relax as soon as CO goes live , 14th july btw , all the farmers and tools will rush of to the new shiney and farm away there , leaving the people who want to play CoX in peace , the market will then self adjust and all will be peachy once more ..and MA will be a haven for the creative souls and fun arcs will abound Honest .

Well part of the answer is that the main Farmers are no longer farming in the main game (they are farming in MA) this means we loose salavge from the market as well as some "bronze" level recipies whihc are now becomming as rare as some salavage.
[/ QUOTE ]
Surely this is untrue, As it stands it actually easier to get both of these items including silver and gold rewards. (thanks the ridiculous amount of tickets you can get). If anything i'd imagine that the prices would drop seeing as most people have no need for the BM or farming normal salvage/rewards anymore. I never used set IO's because it cost far too much now i can collect and gather them easily using the MA ticket reward system. This has cut out the BM/WW all together for me and having to deal with tight-arsed sellers
In that respect *two thumbs up MA*
it wont, as the farmers go the marketplace will become less abundant. its the farmers that kept the marketplace alive tbth

then explain why the market place is in a complete mess since MA came out then. recipies are one thing but the Slavage is another. the salvage racks have been hit and badly, this has a knock on effect to recipies as well as the economy of the marketplace (both sides) furthermore this issue has caused a massive boom to prices in the marketplace. (this is not a good things as meny things are now a lot more expensive and less avalible than before, also crafted IOs are incredibly sparse now

With thousands of tickets available and even SOs costing, last time I purchased some, 75 tickets each, you can slot a character to the eyeballs with no real trouble. I had a stack of red enhancements that were all shipped out and replaced with ticket-purchased enhancementery. Blasty, thrifty, farmy goodness.

Redside Union: Natasha Redshade (Stalker)
I would wait and see what happens once they have nerfed the MA to the point where no one plays it, before you start raising ya blood pressure Saphi.
lol im completely calm just stating the obvious, if they dont nerf it to hell i'll be supprised.

Ive found prices to be falling at WWs on everything except common salvage and purples. I bought 2 LoTG recharge IOs of 35mil each over the weekend. They were 55mil as little as 2 weeks ago

Well i have kept ll my old Farm mishes just incase the day ever did happen i still old school farm now and then its still good to get drops i must admit
Am i the only one failing to see this market death that every one else is experiencing?
Over the last week I've managed to pick up 15 different IO set recipes i needed from the market (2 resist sets and 1 recharge pet) for very little inf much less inf than they would have cost me when i first priced the build the salvage again was easy to come by i got the majority of it using tickets and the exses salvage i had from doing random rolls for the few bits of common stuff i needed went on the market at 5inf each and while all of it sold it hardly sold for massive amounts but the extra inf was nice and helped pay the crafting bills for my set recipes it seemed very much a every one win situation to me

what recipes do you mean when you say this as i have a character with all there auction slots filled with bronze recipes priced at 5 inf and as of last night non had sold

Gotta agree. The market for IOs seemed fine to me too last week. Lots of people seem to be rolling and posting Bronze Rolls.
Salvage is the one thing I've noticed being overpriced at the mo. I've just been filling up on Common Rolls and dumping them onto the market for 5 inf.
It only seems to be Common Salvage that's rising in price at the moment - Rare Salvage has plummeted quite dramatically. Tried selling a Deific Weapon recently? I'm pretty sure that even the Common Salvage will start to drop again as soon as the farmers realise that they can fill their inventory for about 500 tickets with mid-level salvage and get up to ten million for it (prices subject to change, naturally - that 'Inert Gas for 500,000 inf' boom didn't last very long).
Plus, of course, everyone can now always get mid and low level salvage at any time, so the prices are bound to drop sooner or later. As 70 salvage only costs 560 tickets, you can fill your inventory, then refill two and a bit salvage racks in less than one story arc. Or whatever the farming equivalent of a story arc is.
Rare salvage prices have indeed fallen sharply.
I've been filling up my vault with it since that happened, in anticipation of a nerf to MA ticket drops.

Wrong. They are farming the main game still. Log on at 4am and see for yourself, approx one group of super-short Science Fire/Kins in Peregrine. That's the regular farming guys.

Some of the shortage in availability of L50 recipes and high level salvage is certainly due to farmers moving to MA rather than in-world farming, so they aren't supplying the market with as much surplus salvage they want rid of quickly, and less recipes too (as MA random rolls let them pick the level range of their drops, so they're not confined to L50 recipes).
Of course the recipe shortage is hitting redside hardest - where availability was already a problem that was made worse by I13 - but doesn't seem to be hitting blueside at all (from my limited experience there).
Purples, HOs and common/uncommon salvage seems to be shooting up in price both sides, obviously because none of them drop in MA directly. For uncommon salvage there is less of a looted surplus around, as with tickets you can directly buy just what you need - so supply is dying, but demand is still there as some people would still rather save up tickets to use on recipes rather than salvage.
Ironically the market schemes I cooked up post-I13 to be able to afford the higher prices on redside (to be able to keep making the nice builds I'd grown used to pre-I13) are working even better now post-I14 - I'm making inf faster than ever before, but the stock just isn't there to spend it on a lot of the time. More inf, but the buying power of that inf is much less. Blueside the schemes don't work so well but are less needed anyway, as availability with a larger population is much less prone to shortages, traffic is higher (so time spent waiting for what you want is shorter) and prices are lower.
THe answer has been said, its a chain reaction:
[*]Reward rolls, rare salvage and enhancements have all become far too easy to get through farming tickets at MA.[*]Prices of the said items drop on the market, without demand...supply is in surplus and doesn't sell..[*]Everything else like common salvage is all thats needed to be purchased will sore in price.
My experience redside is crazy.
i leveled a new brute over 3 casual days running MA missions, once i hit 50 it took me 2 full days to slot an complete my proposed build.
Now previous to MA it took me around 2 or 3 weeks including the 380mill i had saved up, to finish a similar proposed build for an SS/WP,
So that shows just how easy money and how cheap things are due to MA.
Around Christmas time i paid 35mill for a miracle +recovery. when making my ss/wp a few months back it cost 120mill, now due to MA they are back down to 35mill.
Recipes are dirt cheap, rare salvage prices are 500,000inf, the common salvage is slowly getting cheaper but its only the made ois that are really exspensive atm,. but as money is easy to get, its no big deal.
people will stop farmi8ng MA once they have powerleveled there toons, an normal farming etc will revital the market. as the neft to ma will no doubt hit hard.
basically if you want a new toon make it now, an kit it out asap, dont horde your money spend it fast an buy the exspensive recipes like lotgs now!
lotgs are like 40mill atm xD
the market will sort itself out an i reckon inf will be worth less, as theres to much in circulation vill side.
TFs will become worth doing an purple farming will kick back in.

Now I'm writing the subject to encourage Farmers back to main Farming in the likes of PI and Lagsville. I know this sounds like a wierd and some what controverisal subject, but if u think about it carefully you'll see where i am coming from
Right as we all know the WW and BM markets are in a farce of a state. No longer can you buy somethigns for little inf. Why is this you may ask. Well part of the answer is that the main Farmers are no longer farming in the main game (they are farming in MA) this means we loose salavge from the market as well as some "bronze" level recipies whihc are now becomming as rare as some salavage.
If this continues to happen in the vain it does now the Marketplace will become virtually unseable, whihc means what is the point in using it. We all know what stance the Devs take towards Nerfs and as i mentioned in another thread they usually nerf everything to a joke. Now if they nerf MA to a joke, ppl will NOT use it very often. The marketplace and farming go hand in hand one really cant exists without the other, they are in fine balance. The only way to stop both being nerfed is if the farmers farm in PI and Lagsville (i am not mentioning PL in this thread btw).
If this did happen the marketplace would free up again with pricings starting to fall.
I know the advantages of farming in MA. Heck I do it, but if it continues for too long, whihc is what is looking like, just imagine what things would cost on the market place 3-6mnths down the line.
