I have a suggestion: Let us change annoying graphics/sound effects. e.g. Pulsing spines, forcefields, that sonic boom you get when a kheldian transforms.
Could we perhaps have a less intrusive version of these effects? -
SO - do you get the option of using your currrent enhancements or do you have to make/buy new ones from scratch (is this a cynical excercise aimed at boosting the market)?

Well, I think the unlockable costume options have been a roaring success. I'd suggest the implementation of yet more unlockable costume options based upon the collecting of badges (specific single ones AND collections of badges).
I think envy and ambition help to drive traditional MMOs with rare costume pieces being sought out and proudly worn. WoW used this to great effect early on with their raid earnt costume pieces.
Unlockable weapons further increase the envy, with some people being inspired to roll a certain specific SpecLine because their weapons look so cool (and are unavailable to the other SpecLines) - think nictus Broadsword, for example. So there's a dilemma of balancing availability and exclusivity, which are both good in the correct amount of measure. -
NOTE: This thread is for your ideas too, not just criticism of the one posted below.
I was thinking about parts of the existing game which could be improved or utilised. I consider the tower blocks to be almost completely redundant, all they seem to offer is an entrance for missions. Perhaps they could be used in other ways too?
Here is an idea I had: [image]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/8/88/Img_kingkong1.jpg[/image]
King Kong type monsters which climb buildings. I don't expect them to be able to destroy buildings like this, but maybe the players could use the elevators to get to the higher floors/roof of the building if they don't have a flying/hover ability?
Now, I know it might be a bit of a nightmare to implement, so let's hear your alternative uses for skyscrapers. -

If we want the dev's to spend time on new content everytime instead of grading the whole game / engine up to modern standarts we will get passed very fast my newer games.
I rather have the curent stuff updated then a new zone.
[/ QUOTE ]
I agree with this, I believe that upgrading the core will buy the time to reinvest in content.
I am not a fan of new zones, I prefer ideas which attempt to make existing content more interesting. The original post of this thread is one such idea. -

there are more things the devs could do to make the game more special (Moonbase!).

I disagree with this. I believe that a brand new core would really spice up the game, particularly if it gives the devs more and simpler tools which can allow greater and more varied gameplay after it's implementation. -
Since we're moaning about how drab the city feels, I'll stick my oar back in.
Traffic levels are constant. During the ruch hours there should be masses of cars and at night, barely any.
Speaking of which, there is apparently no nightlife in paragon, no bars, no gigs, no parties, one deserted and exclusive nightclub, no drunks getting mugged as they stagger along the pavement holding each other up etc.
Since there is some interest in th OP idea, I'd like to clear some things up. The crowd idea was intended to be like a zone event except:
1) They are not limited to one zone.
2) There are NOT ALWAYS villains plotting to do harm.
3) The clues are (and I'm not 100% sure how this would work, so give me some slack) meant to sort of trigger the villain activity. Find a clue and moments (perhaps quite a lot of moments) later there's chaos at the Mets game. -
Sure, there are baseball/football games at the arena, right?
There are huge crowds gathering at the cinema for the grand opening of the latest blockbuster, where the people might see their favourite film star.
There are crowds gathering for the grand opening of Nacy's New Year sale.
A comemoration or celebration brings the crowds flooding to the streets in honour of past heroes.
A huge group of people gather around the entrance of the arena to watch Bon Joxi tour yet another drab album of same-a-like foot tappers.
And all the while, the criminals plot to kidnap a famous player or film/rockstar, to poison the crowd with a bomb, or turn them into zombies or worse! To wreak havoc among the citizens during one of their gatherings.
Luckily, the villains have left clues lying around which might be found by a hero and tip them off about the plot!... or somesuch. -

Don't take it harshly, when someone dismisses your suggestion

Also, don't listen to other people, they're likely clueless. -
"...I will say that there are things coming, some of which we have been hinting at, or maybe even flat out denying was even possible, for a long time.", Matt Miller, http://www.tentonhammer.com/node/49237
So, of all the things that they have denied have been possible, what do you think it is that he is referring to? -
Matt Miller says Q1. When's Q1?

Enterable mundane buildings.
For example, tower blocks. You can go in and it's a foyer, and you can get in the lift and travel around the building if you like.
This could then open up a world of new options (such as egg-hunting, or some other type of mission) based on a totally new territory which has been right under our noses since the game began! -
... Or any kind of chases, really... you know... like the films?
I've mentioned this before but it seems to be one of the glaring differences between CoH and [insert name of generic superhero film here] is the chase scene(s). The nearest we have is the bank job, where the baddies have an invulnerable getaway van.
On topic, though ... hoverboards would be cool if players couldn't already FLY(!) or SUPER LEAP or TELEPORT. -

Not sure it has, actually. A lot of them are going to be impossible to figure out what they are. Would be nice to actually have an Atlas Medallion though...

Funnily enough, when I suggested something similar the other day, it was you who dismissed it: HereRolf.

How about...
A PPD badge badge which, like the military medals chest emblem, could be pinned over a jacket.
In fact, a version of each of the collectable badges in the game which could be pinned on your costume as an "over" emblem (one visible at any one time). -
This may be a myth, but from what one team I was in figured out, you need to have a full group to spawn the suits.
-
Why not add more badges, 100, 1000 and 100000 bog standard zombies/rikti, 100, 1000, and 100000 lieutenants, 100,1000, and 100000 bosses. Then 100, 1000 and 100000 bombs.
I'm sure people would stop farming them after a while, but they might join an opportunistic attack which occurs near them.
At the moment people get the badges and then whinge about the invasions once they have them all. -
There are many cool things they could do to make supergroups more cool. Perhaps have it so tbat you can become an affiliate of an existing faction and get to use a similar badge to theirs (but somehow slightly different).
This idea gives rise to further ones, such as having bonuses when associated with certain groups, special costume pieces or whatever that you couldn't normally get? -
they could use glowmaps to add time-cheap but cool looking techy/magical mini-patterns to your costume. Perhaps they could be earnt via badges or an addition you get to add as the level 40 costume improvement (which seems to be missing atm).
-
I like it, it's nice. I'd also like more metallic (shiney) options on existing pieces, but that's another matter altogether: "That's another matter".
-
I would think some of the other stuff in here. Clearly not all of the combat system, but other features seem really nice.

Get some mroe insights from this, maybe:
WARNING The audio quality is poor due to a bad mic and mic technique, and they clearly have no idea how to set up for an interview in televisual terms.

How about a system to allow you to see what recent changes have been made to your character, for example, badges gained since last time you logged in (perhaps put an orange glowy border around the badges) or last time (perhaps a different colour border, say... green?) you looked at the list of badges?
Often I'm scrolling through a long text box to see what badge I just got.
