Great job on this! It'll be a big help when leveling up new characters. From reading your reviews it's obvious you've got a great eye for quality MA arcs so it's nice to have this as a resource.
Also, thanks for including my "Looking Back: A Fifth Anniversary Celebration" among your selections. -

ParagonWiki page listing all rewards that grant the Entrusted with the Secert badge (and thus the Ouroboros portal).
Lowest level hero story arc would be Doc Delilah's arc in Faultline. (edit: technically, Mercedes Sheldon's "Magic Man" arc is in the same level range as well.)
Lowest level villain arc would be Marshall Brass's Echo Down the Aeons. -

You could build a check list from here with out much trouble. It also brakes down just what you will need to do it all.

They may even appear to be the same page (I didn't look at the old one), but everyone should update their bookmarks to include the current site. -
Quote:It's just e-mails that were sent to global names that are "disappearing." E-mails sent to character names are working, so the e-mail system itself isn't what's down.Looks like emails are down too - I hope they didn't get wiped...
Of course, you can only send attachments to global names. Hopefully when the global chat system comes back up any missing global e-mails will return as well. -
Actually, it's not. It's global chat that's down. E-mail is working just fine, as long as you send e-mail to a character name instead of a global (of course, for our purposes here that's effectively the same thing since you can only send attachments to a global name).
-
Quote:Yep, upon further investigation it appears that e-mail is working just fine... as long as you send e-mails to a character name instead of a global name. Of course, you can't send attachments this way.The entire global chat system died around 2-2:30 (Central) last night too.
Not sure what's up with that.
Hopefully once the global chat system comes back up any e-mails sent to global names will show up again. -
Someone in the market forum mentioned this last night, shortly after I had logged off. While I was on, I'd sent quite a few e-mails to myself to clear up some recipe space on the character I was playing. It was working fine around 9:30pm EST, but the market forum post that said it wasn't working was closer to 10.
This morning when I log in, none of those e-mails that I sent are in my inbox like they were when I logged off last night. -
Happy Sixth Anniversary, City of Heroes!
I write about MMORPGs for Examiner.com and MMOSite, and I've put together some CoH anniversary-themed articles here and here if anyone would care to check them out. One of 'em has some quotes from some familiar forumites, and a link to an interview I did with a former player that's actually a great advertisement for playing this game.
City of Heroes has a bright future ahead, and I'm glad to have been here for almost the entire last six years. -
-
Click the "Buy now" ad on the main page of the website (cityofheroes.com). The link it takes you to is for a digital-only (i.e., no CD/DVD) purchase of the game, which includes a month of playtime.

Quote:I'm not sure I understand your choice of words. "If we ever did it" implies that there hasn't already been some in-game advertising. The deal NCSoft had with DoubleFusion (some in-game billboards replaced by ads for real products) seemed (to me at least) to be pretty unobtrusive and actually added to immersion. And they could be opted out, meaning those who didn't want to see them didn't have to.In-game advertising is tricky. For every player who thinks it's cool, I'd bet there's a player who feels like it breaks the immersion for them. Even targeted advertising can be tricky. I have a friend who plays CoH who'd much rather see diaper ads vs computer ads. Just not interested in tech.
If we ever did it, we would make sure it works for everyone. I don't think any of you would like to see something haphazard, no matter how cool it could be.
Of course, whether they actually generated real revenue is another question, and maybe the fact that we're not seeing them anymore is the answer to that.
Again, the way you worded your response made it sound like that sort of thing hadn't already happened. Could you perhaps have meant, "If we ever do it AGAIN..." ?
Oh, and welcome to the boards! -

Quote:It's not technically impossible. Back when I had my Acer One netbook, I managed to run CoH on it in Safe Mode (all graphics options set to minimum). Logging in to check on market stuff, the AE, and to chat was pretty decent, and I even managed to run a mission or two, but that was pretty rough and probably not what the average CoH player would consider to be playable.I'm thinking of getting a netbook so i can browse the forums on my 2 hr lunch breaks on a bigger screen than my iPhone.
I was thinking of getting an Asus eee 1000H something, but then I wondered if there was a netbook I could get that'd maybe run CoH.
It's probably a pipedream, but any suggestions?
I'd rather not get anything bigger than 11 inch screen as my daily encumbrance total is limited.
Eco.
I would imagine something like the HP Mini 311 would be able to do a better job, assuming you got the best configuration (which would include 3GB of RAM).
Still, assuming money's not an issue, you'd be much better served getting an actual gaming laptop. -
Quote:Most computers you buy "off the shelf" (i.e., that aren't custom-made to your specs) don't have power supplies like that. If you're custom-ordering one, you should be able to specify what parts you want in it, including the power supply. If you're buying one already put together you'd just need to purchase a better power supply and install it before installing a high-end video card.I'm looking as well for a new pc and put my order on hold when i found out about the power requiremnts; I am concerned that it won't have the power for some of the high-end cards; but with those cards, I have not seen desktops that boast 500 or 700W so how would one accomplish that?

Well, I finally got around to getting a new computer, and a friend is letting me borrow a GeForce 8500gt until I can scrounge enough cash to pick up a 9800 or even a 260 to be ready for Going Rogue. Graphics-wise, everything works great, and I can use jg0001's nVidia Settings for Quality guide with everything at the max and no noticeable lag.
Regular in-game screenshots work fine, but when I try to take a screenshot of the character or tailor screen (using PrintScreen and copying into an image-editing program like I've always done before), the image is nothing but black. Any idea what's causing this and how to fix it?

Upgrade to a new, larger hard drive. 37GB is pretty tiny these days, and anytime you have less than a certain amount of hard drive space left (is it 25%? 20%?) you start running into degrading performance as well. Unless you just have a ton of programs on there that you can uninstall, I doubt simply finding random stuff to delete is going to free up enough space to keep going much longer.
How old is that computer, though? I just got around to retiring my five-year-old machine, and it had a 120GB hard drive. With a hard drive as small as yours, I'd imagine it's a fairly old system and that the other system components aren't nearly ideal for playing CoH or much else these days. Is a new computer something that would be within your budget? -
No it's not meant to be like that. There's another thread here discussing this little glitch. It's actually happened before, too, with Citadel.

Quote:Unless they've changed something, you can't give a purchased code to someone else; you have to apply it to a CoH account under your NCSoft master account.Give one of your American friends the code and buy and EU one?
...I'll be happy to take it off your hands
The only option for someone who bought the wrong version is probably to contact Support. -
Venture was probably just wondering why you bothered to bring up the Warshade Romulus in the first place, since the discussion at hand had nothing to do with him. The question wasn't whether or not the Nictus Romulus Augustus and the Warshade Romulus are one and the same... it was whether or not the Nictus Romulus Augustus and the historical Romulus Augustus are...

Quote:So, you're saying we WILL see Issue 17 before Going Rogue, right?Correct.
Which brings us back to the same answer given every time someone asks, "Is X going to be in Issue 17 or going to happen before Going Rogue?"
The answer is: NO.
NOTHING is being worked on that's not Going Rogue except for the Natural Booster Pack, the new Christmas Event feature, and the very tiny list of things listed in the first post of HeroCon GR Info thread. Bases aren't being worked on. PvP isn't being worked on. Zone revamps aren't being worked on. Customization of Pools isn't being worked on. Vehicles aren't being worked on. Unicorns that expel rainbows aren't being worked on. Going Rogue has top priority.
In fact there probably *WON'T* be an Issue 17 before Going Rogue. They have *no plans* for an Issue before Going Rogue. The *might*, *if* they have Ultra Mode ready and a few non-GR stuff done ahead of schedule put them together in a 16.5 release and *just maybe* there might be enough stuff to call it an Issue. But there are *no plans* at this time to get anything done in time for an Issue 17. They're not scheduling anything at this time for a pre-GR Issue release.
When a company like Paragon Studios does not have an Issue actually scheduled for release between now and GR, then don't expect one. It probably won't happen. Only if things work much better than they expected might there be an interim release. And on the other hand, a nasty bug or set-back (like what happened with The Vault or the many times they tried to fix the Cathedral of Pain) will not only guarantee there will be no interim Issue, but will delay GR.
And one more thing. Santa is staying home this Christmas.

Quote:^^This. The above is based on the information we have at hand, as well as a rare thing called logic. It's unlikely we'll see another issue before Going Rogue and even if we do, it'll likely be very small and content-light.There were reports HeroCon attendees were told that there is nothing planned for bases before GR.
Basically: Everyone is working on GR except for the few things that they said they would debut in GR or earlier if they get it done earlier.
Possibly, and even unlikely, if any of them get 'free time' (e.g., they're waiting for another department to finish their part of the job before they can move forward), they *might* work on something else and that something else *might* be packaged with any on the non-GR stuff that *might* get done before GR is rolled out.
It would be best if everyone made plans that the only new stuff between now and GR is The Natural Booster Pack and The Winter Event with an added feature. Don't even count on the Spring Event to have anything new.
I predict several more threads asking when Issue 17 is coming out and then, if it's not before Going Rogue, several threads complaining about it. -
Quote:Zombie Man's source is the forum post he linked to (here it is again). In that post, Lightfoot mentioned talking to Brian Clayton, who told him that more than likely, there would not be an issue between now and Going Rogue. He did say there was a chance that they might have enough non-GR stuff ready for a "16.5" or a "small" Issue 17, and they might try to get the graphics upgrade out with that if they could.Source. Please, I guess, but that's just a ridiculous claim to make without sourcing when you make it.
That's probably as official as we're going to get for awhile. -
Quote:Like I said in my post earlier in the thread, the bulk of the closed beta will probably be done on a separate server from the Test Server, like CoV. However, CoV's closed beta was back before they started closing off access to the Test Server for regular issue testing (they didn't start doing that until Issue 9), so maybe with GR they'll just use the regular Test Server. How do they do such a HUGE test on the test server. This is being sold as a box and is most likely full to the brim with content. Excuse me if Im wrong but wouldnt that be a HUGE patch for test?
EDIT: I may have been a bit vague. Referring to GR
I'm not sure what the size of the content patch has to do with what server they decide to test it on. It's going to eventually be on the regular Test Server anyway, regardless of where they do the closed beta testing... -
Quote:The MAGI vault is in Galaxy City. Why do people blame Azuria for losing stuff, when it's this guy who stands in front of the actual vault? Also a nice inside joke about Azuria's vaultkeeping skills makes me wonder if he's a CoX player, or if he got that info from another source.
Azuria's just the one who asks you to get it back after Gregor loses it all...
