Devs.
Please stop.
We all know that the Phalanx member in question is not going to die until the last part of the arc. The fakeout promos are just tedious. PLEASE, for the sake of my sanity, STOP IT. -
I'm glad to hear you guys got the Separated badge on the second run. Luckily I already had that one, but I fully intended to stick with you guys anyway for threads and merits, and just to help out. First time I've ever gotten dropped from a trial like that.
What sucked is I'd popped windfall for extra threads, so once I realized I wasn't getting back in on that BAF, I joined the first available trial, and it ended up being the first lambda I've ever been on to fail at the end.
Still, Badges were had, threads were accumulated, and if you guys want another scrapper for your lambda run, I'll be there with bells. ;p -
I'm in. Character's Swift, +3 MA/Regen scrapper.
-
Jokes aside, I agree with Sam on this. I bought this pack kinda assuming it would be comprehensive with regards to Circle of Thorns costumes. I mean, hell, as I recall it, we were told that part of the whole reason behind the redesign (or at least, one of the driving factors behind the -way- they were redesigned) was so that the new CoT could share the costume wealth with the players. And it was implied that we would get some nice, longer-than-previously-available skirt/robe options. I -think- I remember that being implicitly stated, in fact, but I'm not confident enough in my recollection to say that as fact.
I kinda feel like I got hit with a bait-and-switch, here. I'm gonna be a little more twitchy about future costume set releases. -
-
I'm up for it. Character's Swift, MA/Regen scrapper. No Clarion, I'm afraid, but I've got Tactics and am pretty good at hitting things.
Update: I spent some threads tonight and got myself the tier 1 clarion. Means losing a level bump, tho. -
The shape seems wrong to me. The victorian female corset doesn't really show the swell of the chest like that, on any slider setting, and it doesn't have that kind of "push up" effect, which the carnie corsets do have.
-
I believe it is, and judging by the costume items available on test, I'm afraid to say that I'm pretty sure that it's the result of a mod on the part of the person who posted the shot, and doesn't reflect what's actually in the pack. Love to be corrected if I'm wrong.

Quote:I get so frustratingly sick of this attitude.I can totally understand why there are no children in this game. Because society as a whole, is pretty stupid, and if you give them something like playable children, or even NPC children, in an MMO, they WILL do very stupid and perverted things with them. I am ok with the height slider and the other sliders to make my child heroes and villains, though the chest slider for the girl models is annoying, I wind up with little girls who seem to have hit puberty really early.
No female pets because Posi thinks mysogynists will abuse the concept. No children because disturbed players might act inappropriately around them. None of this because someone -might-, -MIGHT- misuse it.
You know what? There is a mechanism for punishing people who misuse the system, and it's worked perfectly well for seven years. This game has developed a relatively mature, stable user base, because our community watches itself and we have responsible, well trained moderators that settle disputes.
I refuse to believe that issues like this are a disaster waiting to happen. Putting children NPCs in game wouldn't hurt anything, because last I checked, you couldn't really -do- much to NPCs aside from train villians into their general vicinity and watch them run away, invulnerable. And if anybody found a way to do something inapporpriate, well report them to the mods. That's what those people are -there- for.
Attitudes like this are depressing and needlessly harmful, and a lot of times they keep the game from growing. I don't particularly -care- if children NPCs show up in game or not, but I object to the principle of censoring yourself to guard against the behavior of a very small outlying group of miscreants. If you abridge your own free speech in fear of what someone else might do with it, then what is the point of having it in the first place? -
Curious:
If they wanted you to be able to use these powers without redraw, what would be the point of making these animations "alternate" rather than just replacing them? -
So I searched the forums for this topic, but my search fu is weak, and honestly, I just kinda want to rant about this a little bit, so general forums ahoy!
Is anybody else intensely annoyed by Demon Summoner henchmen hanging around gathering points? It seems like every market, every architect building, every university, every trainer, and every tailor has a DS MM hanging around it at least half of the time, and the pets NEVER SHUT UP. And their howls and snorts, for me, get -really- -tiresome- after awhile. I've -never- been annoyed by a sound effect in this game before, but LORD this gets on my nerves.
I want to clarify, I don't have a problem with the set, or the players. I'm not trying to impose on anybody's right to hang out in popular gathering spots. I just really wish people would either dismiss their pets if they're gonna be there awhile, or that we had some kind of option to tune them out.
So, am I alone on this? -
I agree that weather would add a lot to immersion. It would also contribute to the mood of potential missions. Want to give a mission in the AE that extra gloomy "oomph" to imply something tragic is coming? Rainstorm. Want to create a sense of bleak emptiness? Snow scattered on the ground. Bam.
BUT, I want to call out people who ascribe war witch's response to "laziness". I get so sick of people saying "laziness" is any motivation for game developers to not do anything. Game devs that produce products have to work REALLY HARD to be competitive. You want an example of a team being lazy, look at the devs of Duke Nukem Forever, or the original team that was supposed to develop STO. Devs that produce games put in 50+ hours in a week pretty commonly. They may not feel -your- pet idea is worth the time spent, but calling them lazy is just disrespectful and rude.
And adding another idea to the OP's list: Incarnates with weather control could actually -change the weather- in instances. (obviously this would be too much trouble in city zones, but in instances, it could be seriously cool.) -
Quote:I was actually thinking of posting a suggestion very similar to this. This game hits the FLOOR when it comes to music. It's not that the music in game is bad, but it's implemented in the least dramatic fashion imaginable. So, I had this other idea, admittedly not as well thought out as the other few ive posted in the last few days
I love that part in ITF when your just getting to the top of the oracle hill and that dramatic music sets in, and then the huge fight between you and the romans and all the dark dwarfs breaks out, IMO one of the best moments in the game.
The part i like best about it though honestly, is the addition of music. Big fights in games are *always* accompanied by it, and it just makes it that much better. is it too much to ask for some background music playing in some more missions or tf's? even only in the room where you have a boss fight, i would love to see (erm..hear) a slow buildup of some dramatically epic music.
And i think this would definitely be a great addition to AV fights, they need a little more dramaticism involved. <brain sputters to halt>
Comments?
I mean, area changes? Really? That's what constitutes "setting the mood" in Paragon City?
I was running an orenbega mish the other day, and noticed how freaking -epic- the area looked, and realized that I just wasn't feeling it that much, because there was no music They could've had something nice and tomb-raidery there, and I would've really felt like and adventurer, but nope.
And when we do have map music, it's always gated at the beginning of the map.
When used effectively, music can DRAMATICALLY intensify the emotional content of a game. The music should reflect the emotion you want the player to feel at a given point.
This only -rarely- happens in City, and when it does happen, it's -usually- an accident.
As it stands right now, this is kinda my only major problem with the game. -
Quote:In fairness, there are a lot of things that don't look right in the water -anyway-. When my scrapper plants her feet on a ground that isn't there and fires off a snap kick to an enemy's head as they slam their fists into -water- and cause an -earthquake-, I'm already straining suspension of disbelief pretty far past the breaking point. Unless we're meant to believe that ALL of the water in the rogue isles and Paragon city is about 4 feet deep. ;pNot so much...that's just one of those things that happens when you're asked to vet an idea on the spot.
I thought about the problem purely in terms of making a player avatar appear to run on the surface of the water, rather than swim...but didn't think about all of the things that also happen in the water outside of swimming around. Powers/Attacks, hit reactions, even jumping out of the water...all of those things rely on the player standing on a surface below that water's surface.
I also haven't yet thought about all of the things that I haven't thought about needing to think about.
Not saying that makes your problem any easier, but honestly, one of the things this game could really benefit from is a reevaluation of how heroes and villians interact with the water as a whole.
(Of course, that's an even bigger problem.) -

Put a stop to it before it gets out of hand.

It's too late now, this "confusion" will persist even until after I16 goes live, and we'll have team leaders kicking people with custom powers because "LOL coloors r nerf".

This sent me down a different train of thought... why pay the current price of gas now when we can go back to the days it was cheap as dirt via Ouroboros?
[/ QUOTE ]
Tried that once, turned out it caused a .50$ hike in the current prices due to -more- dwindling supply.
Felt bad for the future, so I went back and killed Hitler. Damn history police brought him back again, tho. "Ooh, you'll destabilize the time-space continuum!" Wussies. -

What's that pose GW is in? Because I have characters that would -love- to have that as an emote. (Classic superman style "hovering with arms crossed")
[/ QUOTE ]
If you want to demo edit them in, they are, I think (qualifier: I have not actually tried to make sure they are compatible with player models):
A_STANCE_GHOSTWIDOW
A_STANCE_GHOSTWIDOW_CYCLE
STANCE_GHOSTWIDOW
STANCE_GHOSTWIDOW_CYCLE
The "A_" versions are for hovering/flying (stationary).
Unfortunately, as far as using them "live", they are for her only. I tried to use them at one of her appearances (she made a typo doing the stance emote, so I actually go to see the emote command she was trying to type in). Didn't work for me and when she saw me try Ghost Widow said "Sorry, that emote is just for me" or words to that effect.
EDIT: missing word
[/ QUOTE ] Curse you, Ghost Widow!!!!!!
Seriously, that is! I! Argh!
Signature costume items, okay. Signature names, powers, okay. But let us have the emotes, at least!

How much are the upcoming storyarcs from I12 going to shoehorn the players into common origins? I have natural characters that range from superhuman martial arts to superman style aliens come to earth. I have characters who get their powers from ordinary gadgets and technology, and characters who create giant robots. I have one character that is really sortof halfway between the science and magic origins.
Is this upcoming origin of powers storyline going to tell all of us exactly where all of our superpowers come from? And how do the kheldians fit into the origin specific dialogue you mentioned? -

I just have a suggestion about the character selection screen. Not sure if it has been debated in the past, but I'm going to ask anyway.
Would it be possible to have the option to log out directly to the character selection screen without having to input your password again? Sorry for my laziness
[/ QUOTE ]
My thoughts - and query - exactly. I even posted about it in this thread. I guess we need to start a petition in the 'SUGGESTIONS' forum thread? (if one doesn't already exist... that is.)

I believe petitions are against forum rules? But you could start a discussion thread about it. -

This thread is still way to positive.
For the love of all things holy, can someone please have a legitimate gripe about this?
How about getting angry about VEATS? Or maybe about powerset proliferation? Something? Anything??
PLEASE FOR MY SANITY I NEED MORE DOOM!
When things are this positive, karma is bound to come back and slap us with "Oh yeah, and we're also including ED 2.0 in Issue 12!" type of announcement.

AND OMG DEVS HAET VILANS!!!!
How was that? -

This gets a big thumbs up in my book.
Just a side question, (and I'm sorry if it was answered elsewhere), but can we sort of hold onto these free slot allotments and use them sometime after i12 comes out?
Anyway, great work devs!
[/ QUOTE ]
You won't -get- them until I12 comes out? Or do you mean hold them indefinitely? (which I expect will be possible. It probably works something like the costume tokens, in so far as you use them when you want, rather than at the time, and simply renders the service free for the first however-many-free slots.
Dev confirmation on this would be neat, tho. -

Hmmm....
36 slots on 11 servers is 396 total alts.
Primary powers * secondary powers for all the character types (not including the new powersets!) is 400 possibilities ...
Not QUITE enough slots....
[/ QUOTE ]
It will be over 537 when i12 goes live.
[/ QUOTE ]
Um, 24 slots X 11 servers is 158 slots you would have to purchase.... for a low, low price of $1,040.
O.o'
[/ QUOTE ]
They mean the number of possible powerset combinations after i12 will be 537.
Also, your math is wrong. 24 slots x 11 servers is 264 slots, to purchase, minus a max of six free on day one, and a min of two free. -

But if I decide against going through the Hollows, there is no reason I should be forced to physically go to Wincott. And that also applies to Faultline, Striga, Croatoa, and the RWZ. You should be given the intro contact as a contact, so you know they exist, but it shouldn't be mandatory.
[/ QUOTE ]
This is a sore point for me. I am frustrated with getting a new set of contacts and then having one of them send me to the PvP zone liasons as a mission. Just have the contacts give them as a new contact introduction and not as a mission.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, I don't really mind the PvP liason missions. For one thing, they're not actually -in- the zone. Also, they're not contacts, which is why they don't just drop them in your contact list. It also helps you find out where the actual zone entrance is. (what zone, etc)
Besides, if they did drop the PVP zone -contacts- in your contact list, it doesn't inform the player about the details of the zones and PVP as well.
Plus, it's an easy mission. "run here, run back". -
[ QUOTE ]
The no offense part was due to the fact that I didnt mean it as an insult. Merely a form of fact and or critique. Again though thanks for your OPINION on a comment. Moving on.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, well, perhaps you didn't mean it as an insult, but it sure read like one, and saying "no offense" doesn't magically make the snotty attitude go away.
But you're right, it is my OPINION that you were being rude. Of course, isn't that what defines what we consider polite behavior -anyway-? The OPINIONs of others?
[ QUOTE ]
"there wasn't that much wrong with it". Really?, How long have you've been playing?.
[/ QUOTE ]
Since beta.
[ QUOTE ]
Everyone in my SG(frankly every SG i've been in),always complain about hollows. Either the hard to reach missions, or the "death in the gulch" syndrome which many players run into.
[/ QUOTE ]
I've heard lots of complaints, but I've also heard lots of complaints about a ton of elements of the game; little, nagging problems that people wish would get fixed, but ultimately are never willing to say they'd give up new content to see it happen.
I complain when I have to drive to my bank. It doesn't mean I expect an ATM installed in my house.
The hollows was not -broken-. It works fine, for the most part, but they've learned things from their experiences and refinements in zone design, and this is the first time they've gone back and rearranged a zone like this.
I'll say this again. Hollows worked fine. It got traffic, people played the content, they liked the content, it just wasn't all completely convenient. It got -traffic-.
[ QUOTE ]
Or how about the lack of trainer and hospital?. How about the lack of temp powers?. You see what im trying to say or rather express, is that all that was given to Faultlines revamp.
[/ QUOTE ]
I actually -don't- see what you're trying to say or express here. Are you saying that Faultline's revamp was just a trainer and hospital, and some temp powers? 0_o
Faultline, before the overhaul, was a DEAD ZONE. You went there to badge for embalmed. Unless you were a speedster. It was empty all the time, despite the time that had been spent developing it. The revamp for -that- zone was much needed, and has succeeded in breathing new life into that zone.
It was also a graphical overhaul, making major changes, adding new repairs and constructions, and brought new contacts and story arcs into the zone. It was, in fact, pretty much a brand new zone. (as was the Rikti War Zone)
[ QUOTE ]
As for it being a low priority I think your mistaken, at least in my opinion.
[/ QUOTE ]
I think Pat Moynihan said something relevant to this about opinions and facts.
It doesn't matter what your opinion is on whether it should be low priority. The simple fact that it has taken the devs this long to decide that there was action to be taken and to then take that action shows it that it -was- a low priority. That's a fact. High priority problems get fixed quickly. This didn't even get noticed or recognized until this issue.
That shows it was not a high priority for the dev team.
[ QUOTE ]
A zone that was known to Farm Frostfire, and get you to level 14 is farm from "low priority". Immediate action and mission content at level 5 is far past low priority. Hollows or any Zone for that much is never a minor problem. Adding a Trainer or a shop is.
[/ QUOTE ]
You're a little disjointed here. What immediate action are you referring to?
[ QUOTE ]
And I think you missed my point, I'm glad other features where put in but thats not the point.
[/ QUOTE ]
No, that's -exactly- the point. Do you believe that tweaking the spawns and mission doors for the Hollows trumps all the new content that we have gotten since the Hollows launched? Can you generate a list of things that have been done that you believe could have been backburnered for this?
Becuase it's not like you can just say "try harder" and expect the devs to magically extend their days by an extra hour to accomodate you.
For this to happen earlier, other things would have had to be knocked back. So what would you have knocked back? If you can't come up with anything, then you're just spewing wind.
[ QUOTE ]
My point was that it took way too long to
"fix" the Hollows, and while im glad they did im disappointed for it taking so long.
[/ QUOTE ]
There's also a saying about gift horses that has already been invoked once in this thread. They didn't -have- to fix the hollows at all. It's -still- a better zone then a lot of others, including some that have been around longer. You don't like navigating the gulch, okay. I've shuddered at the thought of the tree maze in perez since this game launched, and that zone hasn't gotten -any- kind of an overhaul.
But if it got one, I still wouldn't -complain- that it didn't come -faster-, because while I was waiting for that, I also got lots of new zones, contacts, missions, costume pieces, badges, tailors, zone events, story events, villian gameplay, new ATs, new powersets, new mission maps, new emotes, new level caps with even more new missions and storyarcs, new gameplay features like inventions and the market...
The devs haven't been resting on their laurels. Stop being an ingrate.
