Has anyone used the Placate proc to any success in this power? I'm curious if it will randomly placate mobs to people within the field. The mag 1 sleep is sad really, was hoping to increase its ability of mitigation.
I'm aware it doesn't make people invisible, just drops target. I've used it to great success in my Trick Arrow toons. -
Rather have ranged myself, that hold proc turns the mortar into a debuff w/ a chance for an AoE Hold

Quote:Which is wrong because it takes twice as long.I think, devs simply flipped reward values for Kahn and Barracuda by mistake. It used to be 20 for Kahn and 30 for Barracuda. Now is just opposite. IIRC, it happened right after i18 release.
Edit: Although being that I favor villains, I should enter my biased opinion. The BSF is harder because the Devs know villains can handle it -
Quote:Thread topic is RttC getting detoggledI understand. Your house is on fire. But this is a hospital. We can't help you. You should go talk to the fire department down the block.
Get it?
My replies were about RttC, your reply implies you have no idea how the power works. -
Let me rephrase so its clear, I have no issues with RTTC in PvE. But, its crippling in PvP, we have several powers that function differently PvE vs PvP. Just remove the -tohit from the PvP version.
-
EDIT:: Please Ignore, Finally Found a Guide, thanks people
-
I personally wish they'd remove the -tohit from RTTC, its not large enough to make a real difference. Not to mention makes PvP horrid with Willpower.

Ebil? No idea, I rarely sit on more then 5b at a time.
I spend what I make, IOing new 50s or upgrading existing ones to better sets. My networth of my toons would take to long to count, maket pvp is something done between taskforces and during dead time. -
Quote:No argument there, its really personal taste, I love my kin as well. I just don't like being a one minute buff bot and people having issues with me not having SB.Personally, I fell in love with my Archery/Kin Defender, and leveling a new version of him as an Archery/Kin corr has been a BLAST. The recharge boosts from Siphon Speed and damage boosts from Siphon Power definitely add up in terms of raw recyclable damage. I can't wait to throw Rain of Arrows and Fulcrum Shift into the mix. Explosive Arrow has served admirably as a mitigation and corner herding power, especially with the damage buffs.
On teams, a Kin can always have something to do, but this character feels like an Archery Blaster who happens to have support powers. I can't wait to snag Mass Hypnosis again for Mass Hypnosis+Aim+FS+RoA+Fistful of Arrows+Explosive Arrow.
Arch/TA on corrs is no stranger to damage either, stacked disruption arrow plus acid arrow is very nice. Again my Arch/TA has perma haste and RoA recharges in under 20 seconds. Other results may vary -
Spines/Ice Armor Brutes
...
.....
....
What? lol technically it would be after release, just not yet :P -
I would say look at your playstyle and ask yourself what kinda toon you want. I've got several cors at 50, including an Arch/TA (namesake). My experience with Dark Blast is with Kin as a secondary. My experience with /Traps is with Sonic as its primary, Necro/Traps as well, but the set plays very differently between the two.
Dark/Traps - While the set carries synergy between your blast -tohit and FFG. Your two main AoEs are cone while traps likes to be in melee. Its a matter of personal taste if this bothers you or not. I don't play my Dark/Kin much not because of the same reasons, I don't like being demanded to SB every 2 seconds. But thats another thread.
Arch/TA - At first glance I've noticed people write off this combination as a silly concept. However get its recharge up enough and you can RoA every spawn, a scourging RoA is just sick btw. Your debuffs are not anchored and recharge quickly, making you extremely mobile. Both sets have low endurance cost, which is nice when you decide what to IO for at 50.
To be fair this sets effectiveness really depends on how much cash you put into it when you IO. My Arch/TA is amazing, but I dished out the cash considering he's my namesake.
------------------
Honestly, IMO keep both, buy more slots
If thats not an option, keep the Arch/TA, its got high damage and a slew of tricks up its sleeve. -
Sign me up
Tsak Quortek (Elec/WP Brute)
Done it 3 times, once while it was broken on test and two failed runs on live. Stupid hurricane -.- -
Quote:Both have no issues, however the SS/Fire/Pyre has a T2 Cardiac plugged into the build. W/o that you may experience certain problems, I don't know how much. I didn't respec into the build until I had already slotted my Alpha Boost. So which one do you run with no issues? SS/Fire/Pyre or SS/Fire/Body?
If you're planning on going with a different Alpha Boost, then I say stick with SS/Fire/Body. And slot Conditioning, Phys Perfection with +end procs.
Quote:Yes and you just made my point SS/fire is not a great awesome farmer because you have to support it with the same stuff any other toon could grab. So ya the whole reason you grab SS is for FS+Rage.. which turns out to be a lousy combo in a farm. Many people who praise the SS/Fire also don't bother using Rage in the farm to avoid the crash.
What makes a good farmer? Lots of AOE that does good dmg and there are other sets that give you more AOE options than what SS can offer you.
Build up an elec/fire then come talk to me about who knows what.
Just so you know, I'm not talking without experience, my main Brute is an Elec/WP. I also have a Fire Armor/Elec Tank. My main farmers are my SS/Fire, DM/Fire, SS/WP Brutes and my Fire/Psi Dom. Yes, I made several farmers because they all get boring and its nice to change things up. -
Quote:I have a SS/Fire/Pyre, no endurance issues.SS/Fire is pretty boring stuff as you just wait for your one button(FS) to come up every 5 seconds. You can't use Rage either because the end drain slows you down to much. Elec/Fire is busy all the way killing non stop and LR has a bigger radius than FS. SS/Fire people have never tried anything but that build. I have both and SS/Fire is far more boring and I don't like managing the end if I don't have to. So what fun is it if you don't even use Rage?? You just have to rely on Red Insps of course.. and that means any AT is just as good if not better.
I have the +end in stamina and the T2 Cardiac end/resist slotted.
Back before i18, he was a SS/Fire/Mu, after i18 he became a SS/Fire/Body. The two +end procs in Conditioning and Phys Perfection. The Alpha allowed for more damage in build, which I'm quite happy with.
But to answer the question of very best farmer.
Any toon you can stand to play for longer then 3 hours straight doing the same thing. Some builds are just more efficient then others, anything can farm. -
Worst IMO are Emps who label themselves "healers" and never use their blast. Just spam their heal aura even if the teams fine. Drives me nuts, I personally kick them from teams. Nothing against emp, but def blast secondary effects can be very helpful and shouldn't be ignored.

Quote:Nothing showed my card exploding anywhere, do you have links? I might add I have a g50vt-x1 which has a heatsink. It looks like those laptops with nvidia cards that are exploding do not have a heatsink.I'd highly suggest you look up the terms:
- Nvidia
- Overheating
- Class-action
- Lawsuit
- Bumpgate
- Geforce
- EXPLODING
- LAPTOPS
And you want to overclock a chipset known to be in exploding laptops.
... That's not a smart idea.
Also I did not overclock my gpu yet, I came here first to see what people had to say. Wouldn't that be the smart idea, instead of blindly making changes? -
My laptop is running a Geforce 9800m GS and while I can run Ultra fine on low specs. I want to be able to play the game on slightly higher settings. Did some searching and found this program, I want to know others opinions on this program. I found conflicting info on its affects on my card. Thanks in advance.

I really don't think the set would be that much more powerful then the existing sets. It will initially be weaker then scrappers out of the box due to brutes having a lower base mod. It will not crit on brutes, however w/ quills if taunt is added will taunt better then most brutes. We already know it won't mix with Shield, unsure if the devs will allow stone though I see no problems.
As it stands on its own, the brute will never see more then 200% as a damage bonus. Not to mention Brutes already have two sets that on the heavy scale for damage. Energy for ST and SS with its mix of ST and PBAoE. Even if and when its ported it will still have to contest with SS for damage output. Yes Spines has more AoE, but you need to jump around to position yourself for max output. While with SS you can stand in the middle and spam footstomp.
Lots of things factor into comparing sets, the numbers on paper are very different when put into practice.
That being said, can I has my Spines/Ice Armor nao??? -
mmMMMmmm bacon zombies..... ZOMBIE PIG muhahahahah
-
lol Anti Farmers make me laugh hard
It supplies the market with more then half its supply, which keeps cost down. Trust me, look at what happened to salvage prices when farmers switched to AE. People farming for PvP IOs are not hurting you, move on man. Or hey get a second account and do it yourself. -
Quote:Read my post above yours, Storm is very good on Necro. You just need to understand how to use your secondary. It can synergy on several pointsNecro/Thermal should be decent, if unexciting as a Mastermind, though it probably meshes better with Bots or Demons, which already have pretty good resists to stack with its shields. I don't see /Storm as being terribly helpful for the Zombies, either. I've never done /Pain.
The way I play Necro is to leave my MM in bodyguard mode all the time and lead my band of easily-excited morons into melee the hard way. Storm is counter-productive to that on most maps; I think it works best for pets that are primarily ranged damage.
Necro/Dark is popular because there's synergy on almost every point. There's so much -toHit and soft control floating around that you are for all practical purposes a controller with bodyguard mode.
Quote:It's hard for me to picture not using Dark Miasma and Necromancy together because they fit thematically and in use so well. But if I couldn't choose Dark Miasma for a Necromancy MM, it would either be Pain or Traps. Pain Domination can pair well with just about any primary. I'd choose Traps merely to blow up Zombie's purely for fun. -
Can I has my Spines/Ice Armor Br00t naos??
-
I've got a Necro/Storm and Necro/Traps at 50, a Necro/Thermal at 45, and a Necro/TA at 38.
For both the /Storm and /Traps, I slotted my Lich for mostly -Tohit. My Necro/Thermal is more sturdy. The def/resist pet procs help a lot with zombies. The easiest to level is my Necro/Thermal, the hardest being my Necro/TA.
Shielding every 4 minutes isn't as bad as you think, considering you're not the primary source of damage. Simply support your pets, keep them healed and buffed. It's not like playing other support on other ATs. Thermal is a lot less intense then Storm and Pain, as you get your buffs sooner.
On my stormer, I'd gale mobs into corners and keep hurricane on them while my pets roll them over.
Thermal matures the fastest, but IMO endgame solo Necro/Storm is quite a beast. Traps synergies well with the Detonation + Soul Extraction combo. Also negative tohit from pet attacks plus the shield generator.
Really can't go wrong with Necro, its by far my favorite MM set.
