Which SF takes longer?

Hi,

just a quick question: Assuming an average level 50 team not especially geared for the particular strike force, which SF usually takes longer to run, the Lord Recluse SF, or the Barracuda SF?

(Oh, and can the Barracuda SF even be done without a mastermind character, so no player could get Black Scorpion's temporary power which stops Reichsman's dimensional phasing protection?)

Thanks,

10

good well oiled LRSF team can run it in 45 min, cuda takes around 1.5 hours minimum

answer to number 2 would be yes, defenders also can get the black scorpion temp, if you have neither mm or defender, its very unlikely you will beat reichsman unless you have a LOT of debuff and dmg

The minimums are closer to 22 for LRSF and 38 for barracuda. For an average team though, they are both longer, with the barracuda probably still longer. For a poor/uncoordinated/uncooperative team, the LRSF is probably longer (counting failure to complete as being longer).

It can be. If you have a very high damage team, it's possible to whittle him down between him phasing, but for most teams, it'll likely end up being impossible. Even if you can, it's not fun, though. Well, Barracuda's never fun. But beating Reichs without the temp powers is even less fun.

The LRSF rewards 25 merits; the Barracuda SF rewards 20. This means the average team takes about 25% longer to run the LRSF.

Iirc, Dev's don't use the average times for merit calculations. They use a related but different concept. Also I don't think that the SFs have been recalibrated recently.

From the ParagonWiki, paraphrasing original post from Synapse:

"Task Forces give an average of 1 merit every 3 minutes of average time (20 merits an hour), Trials give an average of 1 merit every 2.5 minutes (24 merits an hour), and Story Arcs give an average of 1 merit every 7.5 minutes (8 merits an hour). "

I think, devs simply flipped reward values for Kahn and Barracuda by mistake. It used to be 20 for Kahn and 30 for Barracuda. Now is just opposite. IIRC, it happened right after i18 release.

Which is wrong because it takes twice as long.

Edit: Although being that I favor villains, I should enter my biased opinion. The BSF is harder because the Devs know villains can handle it
