I really enjoy Praetoria. The only thing wrong with it, for me, is the lack of ability to travel freely from Praetoria to Primal Earth before level 20. If that were fixed, I would probably start all my characters there, even if the access were just on a Rogue/Vigilante basis, where I could join teams but not get contacts.
I've always assumed it's some kind of technical limitation of the alignment system that keeps Resistance and Loyalist aligned characters stranded in Praetoria. I guess that's always going to be a problem with trying to do cool new things in a creaky old game system. -
I love blasters, but I would not make a Psi/MM in preference to a Mind/Psi Dom. Drain Psyche in /MM is indeed awesomesauce, especially as a survival tool for the Blaster, but with the Dom you still get Drain Psyche plus a ton of other fun stuff as well.

Quote:I was once given as the 'vegetarian option' for lunch on a plane trip...ham salad.Reminds me of the time a friend of mine ordered a veggie burger and it was delivered with bacon on it. (Really, restaurant people, you didn't stop to think that the person ordering the veggie burger might not want to eat meat? -_-)
Okay, first of all, epic fail on it being any kind of meat salad. But also, ham? Exactly what minority dietary requirements were they trying for, there? "Okay, that's got the vegetarian, Muslim and Jewish people covered, who's next?"
Just got my free XPs. Thanks, Paragon! -
Hi, and welcome to the forums!
There are a couple of third-party programmes you might not know about that can be a big help to you with your builds.
The first is Mids Hero Designer, which lets you make a build for your character and see things like accuracy, end usage and recovery, etc. You can play around with the slotting for your build without having to actually change it in game. Also, you'll be able to export your build in a format that's easy to post to the forums, which will allow people to give better advice.
The second is Titan Sentinel, which allows you to export your build from the game into Mids. This isn't anything like necessary, though, especially if you only have the one character, it's just a time-saver.
In terms of your current build, are you putting End Reduction enhancements in your attacks? Sometimes people put them in toggles but forget attacks, but relatively speaking, attacks burn up a lot of end.
Also, I'm guessing that you're a fairly new player on a free/premium account, without an invention license. Are you making sure that your SOs are kept up-to-date as you level, and not going red? (Sorry if that seems like a silly question!) -
Quote:So...if you don't like anything on the market except powersets, then you should have had enough PPs from your VIP subscription stipend to buy the sets that have come out since Freedom, right? Which means the new system allowed you to avoid all the stuff you don't want (costumes, temps etc) and pick up, without paying any more than your sub, all the things you did want (the powersets). And I may be the minority, but I do not care for any new costumes, super packs, or anything else. I would be content wearing solid color spandex if that meant the game worked correctly.
If those were my game priorities, that would make me pretty happy with Freedom. -
Oh, if Friday you're Free, why don't you come with me, and we'll poison the pigeons in the park?

I'll be celebrating the 20th anniversary by going to Redemption 2013, the best SciFi con in the multiverse.
(Oh, my God. 2013. 2013? I'm living in the future.) -
I've always vaguely wondered if people think acting like Creepy McCreepster is actually going to have positive results for them, or if it's just another way for them to have fun spoiling other people's game experience.

Quote:I've found this, too. The new missions are good, but there is an awful lot of clicking and talking. They were great to run through the first couple of times, but now I find myself doing a bunch of street-sweeping and sneaking off to King's Row, or the Hollows. With pre-level 14 travel powers, the Hollows is great, and the missions have far more action. (Although when I soloed through it on a Sonic Defender, the 'defeat Atta and his guards' mission was PAINFUL.)I ran The Hollows on a lowbie recently for the first time in forever, and honestly I found it more interesting/fun than the new Atlas content. Yeah, there's not much to it in the way of story, and the kill-alls got a little old, but at least I actually got to play the damn game instead of just talking to NPCs and sitting around like a moron in cutscenes all day.
And I'll always enjoy another run through Faultline. -
Quote:The devs have already said they think cross-server teaming would be a good addition to the game, and that they're looking into how they might be able to make it work, but that it's a really hard problem to solve. That's all people are trying to tell you.I forgot how much you like to piss on peoples bonfires, regardless of difficulty this is the SUGGESTIONS forums, you know, to suggest things?, that was my suggestion like it or not, even if it isnt implimentable its a good idea, now i remember why i dont post on the forums

The funny thing is, that's really the last place that set bonuses matter. Stacked Def/Corr buffs and Destinies turn set bonuses into a joke. I mean, I find IO sets a lot of fun, and I love making builds, but sometimes when I'm in an iTrial I glance down at all the blue-capped numbers in the Combat Attributes window and think, wow, that last 1% defense I squeezed in is really helping me now.

What kind of percentage of /ah users would you be looking to have stop using the power because the inf cost? Not 100%, presumably, or you might as well just ask the devs to remove the power and replace it with something else. But presumably not 5%, either, or you wouldn't get an appreciable increase in WW traffic. 20%? 50%? 80%?

FUDGE. But then that's my answer to any 'what system would you use for...' question.

Quote:The problem is that with Freedom, the reward tree was restructured to cap the height of the tree, which providing desirable repeatable rewards at the top.TL;DR - Leave Celestial in T9 VIP. Don't remove anything from T9 VIP. Let US decide what sets we want, not YOU. Not EVERYONE can use Fire/Ice or Mecha. So far, these sets fill AT niches well.
Continually adding new sets and leaving them all available breaks that design, and goes right back to the old problem of a tree becoming so large that new players feel the higher levels are completely out of their reach. Stopping at a fixed number of sets means there's nothing special at the top of the tree for long-term VIPs.
Any solution is going to have to address the issue of providing T9 VIP rewards without building an infinitely expanding reward tree. -
Quote:The Paragonwiki agrees with you on this -- category conversion can only occur into sets that exist at the same level as the converted IO.I have two theories of my own: 1. That because my Analyze Weakness enhancement is level 43 and the max level of any shield breaker is level 30 that the conversion is impossible.
p.s. You can't start a new topic because this forum is for devs only. Try 'Player Questions'. -
Quote:But the whole point of the T9 VIP level is that it rotates in new content every four or five months, with new costume sets. New costumes are a known highly appealing items for this player base, which is the kind of items it's important to have at the top of the tree, -- even more so when, unlike the old vet awards, it's possible for someone to pay out and push themselves up to the top of the tree. By allowing lower-tier VIPs to pick the top rewards at will, you're removing that incentive. What do people do now when they have filled all T9VIP slots?
At least if you are able to pick them while not having the Reward Tree filled, you can start filling your reward tree.
People who have the Reward Tree filled will still have the same problem with their tokens in my suggested revamp, as they have now.. what to do with all those left over tokens?
If not costumes, then what else do you think could be offered to T9 VIPs? What else might tempt those people to keep a sub running when they might otherwise cancel, or buy themselves a bunch of points to get up to the top of the tree faster?
And, I ask again, why should T9, out of all the tiers, be exempt from the reward tree structure? Why, out of all the levels, should that one allow people to cherry-pick their rewards from the tree? -
I get the same error. Of the three options in the drop-down on My Stuff, Account Settings is working okay, and Account Overview and Support History give the error.

Quote:Okay. So, why should Paragon break their reward system to allow VIP players to cherry-pick high tier rewards in that one case? Why does tier nine get the exception, when all other tiers on the tree don't? I don't understand why you feel that tier nine is different in principle to all the other tiers.I'll explain once again... Revamp T9VIP into T-VIP, make it accessible to all and only VIPs regardless of their tier progress.
Assuming that the costume rewards were opened to all VIPs, what do you feel would be a suitable replacement for tier nine for VIPs? Because if you remove the current tier nine VIP, that means people who have topped out their reward progress get nothing but the repeatable rewards, all of which can be picked up at the store. Or do you feel that it's entirely unnecessary to have any kind of special reward incentive for VIP subscribers who have topped out the tree? -
Most of the people on the forums are lovely, but there are a handful of...less enjoyable ones. Honestly, putting them on ignore is the way to go, because they are not suddenly going to change. Also, using ignore will make you realise what an overwhelming majority of posters are the lovely kind. I have fewer than half a dozen people on ignore, and it improves my forum experience enormously.

Quote:I'm not sure if it's me or you, but your arguments confuse me. You want the wings and you don't care how much they cost, but yet you aren't willing to buy PPs to get the tokens for them now? And you don't mind waiting to get the wings, but you don't want to wait until they cycle back in?I agree, but I'd like to be able to get them eventually. I don't want them now. I mean, I do, but I can wait. I would definitely be willing to wait if I knew that I could get them eventually. I don't like the cycling of the rewards, though, which is what this thread is supposed to be about.
What do you *actually* want to happen, and when? -
-
Quote:You're proposing that instead of having to take a reward from their current level, people can choose a reward from the top level instead. How is that not cherry-picking?I'm not talking about cherry picking your rewards, please read. I am suggesting to open up the VIP rewards to all VIPs. Reward tree progression will remain as is, i never said anything regarding this.
Tier nine is not 'the VIP rewards'. Tier nine of the reward tree is tier nine of the reward tree. VIPs get access to additional goodies at that level, once they have reached tier nine of the tree. Allowing people to take shinies from higher levels is cherry-picking, and it undermines the structured reward system. -
I will not lie: playing my Ill/Rad bores me to tears. I levelled it up in a great weekly team with fun people, so I got it all the way to 50, and IOed it out for perma-PA, and it *still* bores me to tears. The couple of other controllers I've tried have also not thrilled me (a Plant/Storm and...something I can't even remember that I must've deleted.)
However, if I look around I can see plenty of other people playing Ill/ and enjoying it. Also, people playing other controllers and enjoying them. So my conclusion is not 'the whole controller AT is broken' but 'controllers don't suit my play style, so I'll play ATs that do, instead'. Different people like different things, and it's great that the game caters to them all.
